The good thing is that the climate is not as dire politically as it was when Bush was in office, but Texas has been and always will be a conservative state. Being a small, independent filmmaker might bode well for you, since prosecutors usually prefer to go after high profile targets so they can have a bigger impact and show the world they mean business. One of my friends told me about an upcoming British film that has some potential. It's called The Disappearance of Alice Creed. It stars Gemma Arterton, a young actress who's definitely easy on the eyes, and get this: according to the articles I've read, she gets stripped naked, ballgagged and tied spread-eagle to a bed for nearly all the movie! Well, I'm not sure how much we see her naked onscreen, but check out the interview with the 2 male stars in my Homepage URL and see what you think. And the film has also gotten critical raves in all the reviews I've read online.

I found a nice GIMP whipping video on the slutload.com website. (See link above.) It's fun in a cheesy and fake way (bad acting, no whip marks, no sweat). There's a hot bit around the 7:20 mark where the victim gets her tits squeezed and bites her own arm in a spasm of pain, reminiscent of the flogging scene in "The Viking Queen."

I've never really been into Goth chicks until I saw Liz Viscous , but definitely have a new appreciation since. Speaking of HOM, does anyone, such as Scribbler (who Ralphus calls our own "HOM historian") or SgtMajor, know the early history of HOM? Like, where did the name come from, who started it, where did the first actresses come from, where was the filming done? Once, when I was in LA, I tried to visit the HOM headquarters, which was listed in the magazines as being in Van Nuys, in the San Fernando Valley, but the address was a corporate office building, and there was no listing for any "House of Milan." I assume HOM was doing business under a different name, and had worked things out with the post office? Anyway, film buffs in other genres love historical information, so why can't we?

The days of the HOM features are hard to beat... you can certainly see where Rick got some of his inspiration. Tourist Trap I does stand out as my favourite with The Experiment also starring Rene Baker (starts aiding the guys before running afoul of them) as my second choice. Tourist Trap II was a disappointment but I & II taped back to back makes for a great two hour movie.

As an aside, anyone else notice that one of the Erotic Perversion loops has the same "star" in the same location (basement storeroom with her laying on some sort of wheeled package truck) undergoing a series of torments in each loop? Now that one made a fantastic 20 minute edit. It's the only two loops were I might question how 'consensual' it is when you see her from above while she's hanging and she seems to silently mouth the words "please help me" and mean it. While I hope she was just acting it does add to the overall 'realism' of the mood that HOM was so famous for. In their own way the loops were better than the features as they lacked some of the intensity of the loops.

Canadian: Drop me a line. I'd be pleased to fill in any blanks you have re. the golden HOM days. I have most all of them but on VHS with The Experiment the only one I've found locally on DVD.

Shocker: Just remember that the law, like politics, is local. It's no accident that most of the American porn industry is in the LA area. There, they also have enough economic clout to be virtually untouchable.

Yeah, I probably know a lot of things that the rest of you don't. But about this particular subject, not so much.

The one to ask about what's next for ZFX would be Rick, and I'm not sure even HE knows at this juncture. What I do know is that most of the footage for Goon Squad 2 was shot from 4 to 6 years ago and is just now getting released. To my knowledge, he hasn't shot anything new lately.

The last I heard from Rick via e-mail was that he was considering making a computer animated film of some sorts. He kind of left it open as to the future of ZFX. Of course, he's sometimes a mysterious guy anyway so maybe there's stuff he's not telling me. I would imagine we'll hear more from him when we start the ZFX promotion on the forum in the very near future.

I just picked up Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts for less than VM at Adult CD Universe. The link above came off the ZFX site with a list of all the titles. The prices are good and the service was quick.

Let me just tell you, it is an excellent movie! Without giving too much away before the full Ralphus review, the final scene with Lisa Kinkaid is really dastardly. She gets pumped full of hot sauce up her ass and electrocuted!

Brutus: Don't worry, I'll make sure Canadian's experience is widened appropriately but you may be right that in some ways the HOM stuff isn't as intense as today's Japanese but worth a look none the less. Unlike a lot of today's American GIMP, they paid attention to the setting details (no hotel rooms or empty storerooms) to set the mood.

Canadian: Like Brutus says, it'll be interesting to get your perspective on the older HOM stuff since you haven't had the pleasure... yet.

One question though: You said you saw an edited version. Edited how? I only see one version (rated R) available for purchase, so why do you think your version was edited? I would hate to get a copy only to find out later I'm missing the best parts.

The trailer from the movie shows just a snippet of the bondage/burning scene, but not the bondage scene from the brown-eyed cutie. I'll be adding this one to my Netflix queue.

SyFy Channel is gearing up for "The 31 Days of Halloween" so they have been adding a lot of fairly recent horror flicks (Horrorfest's, After Dark Horror's, etc.). Some pretty good. One of which was "From Within". So edited?...edited for network.

Actually, I have seen some of the old material that's been released on DVD, although I've never seen a full-length feature. I have seen compilations like Bondage Classics 5 and some of the stuff that's been released by Alpha Blue Archives, such as The Abductors. So I won't be looking at the older films with completely fresh eyes.

Still, I am very interested in seeing the Whitman films.

Speaking of whipping, I have finally gotten around to writing that long-promised review of Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno, Episode 1, or POJ01. It feels strange to submit a review of episode one after we've already had a write-up about episode two (well-done by Sloth). But I've been doing things bass-ackwards all my life, why stop now?

On a technical note, I couldn't get the vid to play using Windows Media Player, but it worked fine with VLC Media Player. Probably just more evidence of my archaic technology. Anyway, the review appears below.

GIMP Movie Review

The Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno, Episode 1

As with other RFPIX works this one has no dialogue. The flick opens with Jane making her way through a village on her way to a hiking excursion. She looks the part, dressed in blue denim shorts (I like this already), a tank top, backpack, cool aviator-style shades and hiking boots. A nifty piano piece by Debussy plays in the background as Jane arrives at the outskirts of town, surveys her destination (a scenic mountain valley), and heads out on a narrow dirt trail. She arrives at what looks like a rest area for travelers. Seeing no one around, she stretches out on a picnic table, unzips her shorts a bit, puts one hand on a breast, tucks the other in her light blue panties, and starts to push her own buttons.

Her solo sex act is interrupted by the arrival of the villain (JJ) who turns her over on the table, ropes her wrists together and secures them to her thighs (but misses an opportunity for a hogtie). What follows is a series of scenarios that follow a pattern: JJ puts Jane in an uncomfortable position, whips her at close range, leaves her alone for several minutes, then returns to put her in another (and progressively worse) predicament.

First he ties her to a vertical post and thwacks her with a short whip about the chest, stomach and legs. Then she's made to stand on a short wall with her legs spread while he beats her crotch. Next, she's made to kneel on the ground while he pulls her top down and whips her back and shoulders. Afterwards, he takes her over to the hard-surface picnic area, lays her on the ground, and stands over her whipping just about everything. Jane's looking pretty beat up by now, but also very hot as she writhes topless on the floor. But in each of these scenes, her feet are not tied and she is not secured to any object, so I'm thinking: why doesn't she just run away as fast as those hiking boots can carry her during one of JJ's long absences? Not a good sign when such things are going through the mind of the viewer.

But Jane misses these opportunities. JJ ropes her to a tree limb in a strappado position for her next beating. Jane shows a lot of distress here, bending forward as far as she can to relieve the strain on her shoulders. To make matters worse, she's standing on a muddy, sloped surface and has to struggle to maintain her footing.

The final scenes occur at a Y-shaped tree (perfect for what's next). First, her wrists are tied up above her, facing the tree with her back to JJ. Her top comes back up to cover her while this goes on, but pretty soon JJ is wailing away at her back and shoulders, shredding her clothing to reveal some really nasty-looking red marks. Jane has just about dropped to her knees at this point. Then he turns her around facing him, and as he does Jane offers her first sign of feeble resistance. But once JJ secures her to the tree, he starts whipping (and occasionally tearing) apart what's left of her top. When we leave Jane in the final scene, she is hanging from the tree in a barely conscious state; knees bent forward, upper body covered in welts, head falling backward, truly a glorious mess.

Movie Pluses - Jane's reactions, facial expressions, moans and gasps really sell it. She carries the load in this movie, and the camera never leaves her. The isolated, outdoor setting and natural, unforgiving lighting serve the movie well. The clothes-ripping takes a while, but that's always an attraction for me.

Movie Minuses - JJ's villain is an enigma. He pops in and out of the movie, shows no expression, and serves basically as a whipping machine. He never secures Jane's ankles. Where does he go when he's off-screen? Does he watch Jane struggle, as we do? I found it hard to identify with him. I also wish Jane had put up more of a fight. And the electronic background music, which is intriguing at first, becomes annoying after a while.

My Grade: B. There is a great deal to like here, but there are too many wasted minutes where nothing is happening on the screen. Really, the 70-minute running length could have been cut down considerably without losing anything vital. But it's a chance to get a good view of Jane before she gets all muddied and bloodied in the next installments.

I couldn't agree more! Attention to detail helps the believability, and helps make or break the movies overall appeal.

Again on believability...IMO not realistic from a few perspectives. If one has an opportunity to escape, I think if able to, she would ditch the heels so she could run. Think back to 9/11 when they were evacuating the White House, security was instructing the women to take off their shoes so they could run.

Then from the perps point of view, the points of the shoes (boots) can be used as weapons. In fact, I saw a movie a long time ago where the point of the high heels was used to kick one of the eyes out of the abusers head (The scene made me cringe...Yyyeeeee).

Fetishes are funny things. They make perfect sense to the people that have them, and the others that don't just can't understand them. I have a smoking fetish, think it's super sexy when a woman smokes, and when I bring it up to most people, they look at me like I have 3 heads (and presumably, that would be three little heads all with big afros...gross). Anyway, bondage filmmakers have the added pressure of trying to please the fetish crowd, so stuff like clothing, hair, shoes...face it, there's too many choices out there so they'll never be able to satisfy everyone.

For the record, I agree that big high heels don't make much sense in a realistic bondage scenarios. Like LTL pointed out, they could easily be used as weapons against the bad guys, and why leave yourself open for that? See, I'm always thinking like a villain. Years of training.

YikYakker: Thanks for a great review of The Perils of Jane, Episode 1. A few comments: So let me get this straight...she's attacked while masturbating out in the open? Seems like a good enough reason for me. That's another scenario that seems to stretch reality a bit...who actually masturbates in public? I'm another one who feels masturbation scenes are pointless to begin with. It sets the wrong mood, for one thing. My ideal victim shouldn't already be thinking about sex beforehand; it cheapens her and makes her a bit more slutty and less innocent before the actual mayhem on her begins. I'm of the same mind that a victim should not ever be orgasming as a result of her treatment. She should never be enjoying what happens to her. It's just wrong in my book.

You're the second reviewer to mention the mechanical blandness of the villain. Hopefully that won't continue in the future Red Feline productions. If I were dishing out the punishment on a hot lady like Jane, I would definitely be more enthusiastic.

Sounds overall like a worthwhile purchase. Now, anyone care to review Part 3 so we can complete our "Perils of Jane" trifecta?

She starts off half naked, arms over head, crouched from the last episode. She is untied and left to stand... untied and alone several times after this. She never tries to run, but just stands there in a daze, almost ready to fall over... but never does. Quite silly really. In addition, the camera lingers like this for too damn long! Same shot, no camera movement whatsoever.

Eventually, she's taken to a tree and tied AOH. She's wearing what's left of her shirt around her waist, and skimpy blue panties. The kidnapper begins whipping her, and this goes on for a looooooong time. Slowly, her panties are "whipped off".... a very nice thing, it just could've been accomplished is a much shorter amount of time.

Next, she's tied to the tree in an upper spreadeagle... and I'm sad to say the bondage here sucks ass. One single strand of rope is loosely strung across her wrists. Her legs are unsecured. The camera lingers on Jane for another loooooong time. No whipping occurs. The torn shirt covers her pussy, but there are some shots of her bare ass as she moves slightly away from the tree trunk.

Eventually, the kidnapper comes and rips off Jane's only remaining clothing... her shirt. She's completely naked, and the camera shots go back to following her naked body as she's lamely tied to the tree. Finally, the guy comes and very bloodily nails her palms to the tree. Nice acting here, but at this point I'm just annoyed. The kidnapper spreads her legs, but does NOT secure them... argh!

Once again, she lingers like this for a loooong time. She pees herself, and it looks like she was holding herself for some time as she pees A LOT! Not really into the peeing thing, but in this setting it seemed appropriate. She dies not too long after that. The end.

The ridiculously long shots, the poor bondage, and the total lack of personality of the kidnapper ruins this for me, and the only good point... Jane's beautiful naked body stretched out and bloodily nailed to a tree is the only plus here, but even that is ruined because her spread legs aren't secured. It seems that they could have condensed parts 1, 2, and 3 into one flick except to take advantage of the site's new rental format. I won't be renting the other two parts. I rate this a C+. The + being for Jane.

YikYakker - I'll have to ask what the Debussy piece is. One thing that I'd like to point out about Perils 1 is that I'm not in a public place, I sneak into an abandoned property. I have to jump the wall, because the gate is locked.

I've had emails from fans telling me that they LOVED The Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno, 3, for the very same reasons that Sardu didn't like it. I guess the saying is true that you can't please everyone all of the time, but some people some of the time. I will say that this one was particularly hard to shoot because of the rain and the bugs and the mud and a lot of other things that really (literally) put a damper on the production. We didn't plan for rain and had to save the cameras from certain death in a very creative and difficult way. I like it when critics debate, where's the Siskel to Sardu's Ebert?

The down side, is she's in on it, and this is a set up for the hero. There are two more interesting scenes in the movie. The first appears about 35 minutes into it as a flashback for the movie The Hills Run Red which it turns out are "REAL"... Anyway, a poor young lady finds herself in a horrid position... She's wearing short shorts and a white tank top. HOOKS are stuck in each shoulder blade and she's suspended from a tree branch from them.... ouch!

Her wrists are secured spread out to each side by BARBED WIRE... long shots on the wrists and shoulders. Hooks are also attached very graphically through the tops of her feet, attached to loose chains which are very well spiked to the ground. The tree branch she is hanging from has been bent down by a rope and tied that way with a rope, which the killer slowly cuts. She's gagged, but she's screaming as her eyes go wide as the rope begins to fray. Eventually, the rope is cut, the tension snaps and she's jerked upward, which rips her apart at the shoulder blades... her head, shoulders, backbone and entrails fly up, while her arms and legs keep the rest of her well secured. Graphically shown!!

The other scene has our heroine, in a dress in a shed, tied bent over a table, her wrists secured to the ground by barbed wire, her legs spread by chains. Not much skin here, and it's not exactly clear if she's raped or not... meanwhile one of the other GUYS in the movie endures a horrific and graphic torture scene as he's tortured by Sophie Monk... She escapes by pulling her hands out of the barbed wire after the killer leaves the room. She comes to a bad end quickly in a later scene.

Sophie Monk shows a lot of tit and ass in this movie, and overall its not a bad slasher flick. It's filled with blood and gore, and the ending is left open for a sequel...

I give this one a B because overall it's not a bad gore flick, Sophie Monk gets naked, she's tied to a bed, and tree branch scene is nakedly vicious and original. Not bad for a mainstream entry.

Speaking of subjective experiences, it's interesting that Sardu, in his review of Perils of Jane 3, mentioned the stationary camera angles. I was going to include a comment about that in my Perils of Jane 1 review, but after my customary second viewing (which makes my reviews take so damn long to write) I realized that my first impressions were incorrect, and that there was actually more variety in the camerawork than I had first thought.

Jane, thanks for mentioning that. In the pursuit of brevity, I omitted that detail and may have inadvertently led Ralphus (and others) to believe that you were engaged in some sort of public display of lewdness. Another thing that I did not mention is that you also came upon a recently burned-out campfire, which suggested that someone else (the villain?) may have been there before your arrival.

Well, given the fact that this is the only sex that occurs, it's probably irrelevant anyway. While it was a surprisingly unexpected event in the movie, it seems in keeping with Jane's character, who is already an outdoorsy type prone to "going it alone". Actually, if Jane really wanted to be slutty, she could have swapped those powder blue panties for a red or black lacy thong number, or worn none at all. (I think someone on this forum said...or maybe it was a line from a movie...that if a woman wears black panties, she expects them to be seen.

My first thought when the villain appeared suddenly and interrupted the action was that it vaguely resembled one of those camp slasher movies where the killer attacks a couple of teens in the middle of an outdoor boinking...like getting punished for having sex.

On the subject of high heels in bondage pics, I am neither a foot fetishist nor a shoe fetishist, but if I were the villain I would prefer to get rid of those shoes. I just don't get a babe who's totally naked but wearing shoes. Nevertheless, one hazard of bare feet in bondage flicks is dirt. I remember seeing a flick where a victim was trussed up in a manner similar to that used in our recent daily pics, but the bottoms of her bare feet had picked up a lot of grime from the floor of the warehouse that served as the setting. I was so distracted by the sight of those soiled soles pointing directly at the camera (and thereby right into my face) that I could hardly pay attention to what was going on. I dunno, maybe they use shoes to cover up the grimy feet. Maybe the producers should keep some soapy water and a sponge handy to maintain clean feet. Another solution is to leave the nylon stockings on (which is something that yet another group of viewers get off on).

Even in conventional sex scenes, high heel shoes seem out of place. I cringe whenever I see a guy getting jiggy with his girlfriend, she's got her legs wrapped around his mid-section, and she's got those lethal stilettos dangling dangerously close to his tender flesh. Ouch.

But like Ralphus suggested, maybe it's best to forget about such trivial things and just watch the damn movie.

Jane: Don't take the reviews as anything other than constructive criticism from a couple of very discerning viewers. I'm not sure we always appreciate that RedFeline like all the other producers has to succeed as a business and things like dialogue, moving cameras, intensive struggling between actors can all add to the need for and costs of retakes. As Ralphus noted, producers have to try and appeal to as many segments of the fetish market as possible... some like peeing others not so much as an example.

Then again, I'll always take a long lingering shot of the victim rather than long car chases or secondary (boring) story-line that makes up the 'filler' time in mainstream films to make them long enough to be considered to be of feature length.

That being said, after filming in such a beautiful location (solving the whole atmosphere issue) it can be the little things like loose knots, unsecured limbs and untaken escape attempts without explanation or reason that very quickly cripple the 'believability' of what otherwise is a very good film. Had there been a shot or two of JJ sitting back with a beer watching you struggle would've added context to the long scenes mentioned and explained why you didn't escape... cheap to shoot too. I can only assume that the loose knots were at least in part for your comfort but there must be a way to make them 'look' tighter. It's the attention to detail that make mainstream work but also very expensive to make.

On the whole high-heels question, I've worked to change my thinking from that's really stupid because of the 'believability' factor TO the shoes being an additional torture device because as BP noted no woman wears them because they're comfortable... besides they do make the lady's legs more taut and attractive.

On the 'innocence' of victim question, I'm with Ralphus, the more unsullied the better... but than we all have our 'perfect' scenario don't we? Oh, to be a billionaire GIMPer who could pay Jane a million dollars to make the movie that I would like to have her star in.

Thus, my personal feelings go to context. If they make sense for the scene... great. Say... tied, naked, bent over a table heels work. Tied... as in the scene in the daily pic, not so much.

I also enjoy bare feet. Bare feet imply vulnerability. In the movie "Naked Fear" the bare feet was great as the damsel was stranded naked in the wilderness while being hunted by a maniac. That was brave for the movie makers, because surely it was not easy on the actress. Had she had on shoes in that movie it would have killed believability.

Thus, as a filmmaker, if you want to enhance the impression of vulnerability, remove her shoes. Its subtle, but it's there. Try running in bare feet across hard or rocky pavement... it's not fun.

I understand that reviews are subjective, and I do appreciate constructive criticism. I also think that things could have been improved in Perils, and improvements were made in following films. I agree that the bondage in Perils, especially at the end, could have been better and there were opportunities in which my character could have attempted escape. JJ does improve as a villain in subsequent films. Essentially all of the negative things that were said in the reviews, I've already complained about to JJ when we shot them or when I was looking at the rushes. At which point he snidely looks at me and says, "Were you doing the cameras? In the rain? Right, so don't give me a hard time.". But then we do things differently the next time. Each film is a learning experience for me, and for JJ too.

For instance, in AristoCrux, instead of planning to shoot 3 movies in 3 days, we shot one movie in 5 days. We were able to take more care with shots, with interaction (I love interaction in movies between the villain and the victim, sometimes it's more important than the action for me, or the action is a reinforcement of the feelings expressed between the two people). For this movie I took on more of a producer role, which I continue(d) to do in subsequent productions. I'm looking forward to this review!

I appreciate it when y'all tell it like you see it. The critiques here make me think more about logic and motive which essentially make for a better film next time. I'll try not to be so whiny in the future. But I can't promise anything :).

Sardu - after viewing the trailers on the Red Feline site I got the impression that POJ03 was not quite as strong as the previous two entries and you seem seem to confirm that suspicion - that's a nice heads up on "The Hills Run Red" - okay, if I must take a bit of gore to get nice bondage in a mainstream flick that's a price I'm willing to pay - thanks.

Ralphus - I am sorely disappointed you do not find the ladies tootsies to be a vital piece of equipment - what would we do about hogties, head down suspensions and bastinados without them :-).

I do not want real life stories re-enacted - it just brings back the real and genuine suffering that somebody felt. I want kinky actresses who enjoy a bit of rough play. I want to see them struggle to get to the phone for ages only for the villain to come back at crucial instant and drag them back to where they started.

I like it when the victim wears stockings and no bra under her top. I like it when the script is cheesy - what? you made all those mistakes in typing that letter - bend over immediately. I like red stilettos.

GIMP stuff should be fun not depressing like the real life cruelty that happens all the time.

So come on - nobody could believe a HOM video was real - most ZFX stuff that I have seen is simple erotic fantasy.

Can we please get away from realism and blood and gore once and for all and find some fun ladies who will tolerate a bit of real slap and tickle.

I rented these with the hope that a quick fantasy might be fulfilled:

DARK COUNTRY: I must confess I am a huge Lauren German fan (Hostel II). If you're going to leave me alone on a desert island with any actress she's the one. I rented this assuming the gimp opportunities would be minimal, but hoping that at least I would see Ms German in some perilous situation. Well, While Ms German has changed my opinion of the ice cube as a sex object (perhaps the sexiest non gimp scene I've ever seen), the movie has zero gimp value. We don't even get to see Ms German act afraid much less real peril. Grade: I give it a D, BUT, everyone deserves to see Lauren German and an ice cube perform some day.

SEVENTH MOON: I also like Ms Amy Smart quite a bit. And she has never approached a serious gimp scene. While again the scenario didn't bode well (being chased around by ghosts). I thought at the very least I would see Amy cowering in a corner terrified. What a waste of time, the shaky camera, dark lighting, Blair Witch cinematography. They might as well have cast Phyllis Diller in the part! Unbelievably, Amy Smart is not sexy in this role, you have to try damn hard to accomplish that. UGH!!! Not even an incomplete on this one!

FARMHOUSE: Again great possibilities, Kelly Hu and Jamie Allman. In this case a couple stumbles into a lone farmhouse when their car breaks down. Unfortunately Kelly is the torturer not the victim. This one pans out a bit. There are two gimp worthy scenes. In one Jamie is tied face down on a board and waterboarded while her husband watches. Unfortunately, being tied face down we don't get to the see the heaving and gasping for air to the full effect. If she was tied face up it would have been a great scene. The second scene, Jamie is tied down in a chair and Kelly Hu tortures here by rubbing a cheese grater on her knees. This one is fairly effective, and very realistic. It still somehow manages to avoid any sexiness (perhaps it's her clothing) Any way I give it a Gimpers C-. I think Ms Hu, a truly sexy hottie, would have pulled off the role better, and she hasn't had a great gimp scene since Martial Law.

I'm with LTL on the heels. To me they don't add to a girls sexiness at all. If she has great legs, they will look fine without heels. And most girls I know don't house clean or go jogging with heels on (except the porn stars waiting for the pizza man). To me the whole idea of the gimp fantasy is a bit of realism. If the girl doesn't look afraid, if it looks consensual, it loses its effectiveness. If you caught an industrial spy girl, or an undercover cop she might be in heels. If you break into someone's house she won't be in heels, when she's stepping out of the shower.

On The Hills Run Red, Sophie has two scenes. She also is tied arms overhead in a montage when she is detoxing in the beginning of the movie. I almost liked that one better then the blink and you missed it scene later. Although I must admit it is very rare to see a mainstream flick with an actress tied spread eagle topless. The last one I remember was Spun.

All things considered, she did a great job. If you like humiliation/begging--this has a lot of that. Also note, that since this is a fantasy movie, there are no actual bondage elements...everything is staged or fake.

I had heard about a scene in a mainstream flick that featured Michelle Johnson ("Blame it On Rio") roped to a wooden cross. I thought the film was Body Shot but it seems I have the wrong title, the wrong actress, or both. Anybody have any thoughts about that? (I know its not Blowback with Mario Van Peebles, I've seen that one.)

I have pretty much given up on picking up mainstreams where the covers elude to possible Gimp scenes. The teaser covers almost always seem to let down. I am however, also into horror flicks, and as I pick up some here and there, I run into some fair stuff every once and awhile by accident.

It's funny Elkcreek mentioning Lauren German. I just watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre last night and didn't even realize that she was in it until I did a search after Elkcreek mentioned her (Hostel II).

I guess she was the hitchhiker? I really don't know who else it could have been. Bizarre.

BTW, Jessica Biel looked FANTASTIC in that one! Too bad they left out the bondage from the original. They missed a golden opportunity where the old man in the original sucks on the victims finger as she's tied to a chair. The could have included that scene but have him suck on other things...if ya know what I mean. Tasty just the same though!

But don't feel you have to apologize for your honest opinions. I've given out C- grades to ZFX movies before (and even lower grades to some of his other stuff I never reviewed online) and everyone knows I'm a big fan. Filmmakers shouldn't have their asses kissed; otherwise, they'll never learn from their mistakes.

Also thanks for the info on The Hills Run Red. Sophie Munk is one of the hottest women in the world, and the film looks like it's worth at least a rental.

Michelle Johnson is another favorite hottie of mine and I've managed to check out nearly every film she ever made (and nothing beats her burning at the stake scene in Blood Ties). I took footage from Body Shot on one of my highlights tapes. She's tied standing to a bed for a photo shoot (and naked...we could always count on her for that) and complains about how uncomfortable she is. Later, she's found dead in that position. The Hills Run Red: I saw this, and while there are some GIMP moments, the Sophie Monk spreadeagle/ballgag scene, as Sardu pointed out, was about 1.5 seconds long. Of course, the ballgag was used for a considerably longer torture sequence involving, you guessed it, a guy. And the attempted rape scene was ultimately a letdown. But I think it's worth a rental.

But what can really ruin a scene is when a supposedly sweet and innocent victim has a full body tattoo and every part of her body pierced. I know I sound like a broken record on this subject, but can't the producers show a bit more common sense when casting their actresses?

To each his own. One thing worth noting is that horror films can contain some great GIMP action before the blood and gore. The women in horror movies are generally much better actresses than porn stars. And I love seeing them struggling convincingly in fear to avoid a nasty death. The actual blood-letting rarely makes it to my compilation discs. As for tickling torture, it does absolutely nothing for me.

Firstly - I did not mention Hogtied so why are you? Unless you are just resorting to mis-information.

Secondly - "Girls in Merciless Peril", the videos rather than the forum, is entertainment. There is no connection between "realism" and entertainment despite your statement implying the contrary. Look at many successful mainstream movies and consider how realistic they are. Whether you go for Star Trek, the Wizard of Oz, or Kill Bill makes no difference - realism is not their strong point.

I want to believe that the actress is really suffering - but gallons of gore reduces my belief, it does not enhance it.

Yeah, I sometimes just do things for visual impact. I figured it would appeal to the fetishist up to the end. I dumped the blood because I wanted that final overhead shot for the body drag. The nice thing about downloads--you can just watch the parts that appeal to you. :-)

On another note, I have something coming out next week with Micah Moore that's mostly a beat-down, then a very long strained suspension with torture and interrogation. There might be a forced orgasm too. The death scene for those interested is a hogtie strangulation.

A few weeks later will be another one with Lexxi, no blood, but again, lots of beating and real--REAL forced orgasm. Then, she is electrocuted to death using a wet sponge and battery cables (like in Lethal Weapon II).

UKSteveOK, I think you are referring to real bondage, which involves models actually getting tied up or put in distress, but rarely endangered or imperiled.

When Sardu speaks of realism, he is referring to the realistic presentation of women in extreme bondage and perilous situations. The art of doing this...like that of the magician who makes an elephant "disappear"...involves convincing the viewer to suspend disbelief, the better to engage himself in the situation portrayed and therefore derive arousal and excitement. If stuff looks fake, it won't serve this purpose.

Bondage of the second type is the raison d'etre of this site. Folks like yourself, who enjoy bondage that involves fun, a slap or a tickle in real-life situations, are less likely to find what they are looking for on this site. Even so, we do have some visitors (and posters) who enjoy bondage of both types.

There are two very clear clues about what you will find here. One is the statement that we do not condone sexual violence. That means any references to violence here are pure fantasies.

The other sign, as Sardu pointed out, is that the name of the site is "Girls in Merciless Peril." That means we seek realistic-looking portrayals of fantasies that we would never condone or act out in real life. We certainly do not believe that the women in these films are actually being whipped, tortured, racked, nailed to trees or incinerated. These aspects evoke the sense of peril that makes the situation, for most if not all of us, arousing and exciting. Well, that and the fact that the victims are hot-looking, wear little or nothing, and well...you get the idea.

Many of us share your aversion to excessive gore, especially if it gets in the way of, or is substituted for, the things that turn us on.

I think I speak for all when I say to each his own. This is our idea of fun.

Ralphus: Thanks for the info about Michelle Johnson. Apparently my "source data" is partly incorrect, so I'm glad to have that clarified. Like you, I have an appreciation of Michelle Johnson, but this is one flick I've never seen, and will probably add to my list.

Before proceeding, I must say that on an entertainment level (non-Gimp), this is a very good movie!

David Gale, who is played by Kevin Spacey, is on his final few days on death row. He contacts a news service to have someone do a story on the circumstance that led to his being found guilty of a murder he claims he did not commit.

The reporter who is played by Kate Winslet, is granted access to interview David Gale for 3 days prior to his scheduled execution.

After an interview session, the reporter and her cameraman return to the motel they are staying at only to find that Kate's room has been broken into. Upon investigation she finds that a videotape has been left behind for her to find. As they watch they realize that this is a video capture of the actual murder David Gale is accused of committing. Kate & cameraman watch in horror as the victim struggles and dies.

As Gimp material the video shows a bruised and naked victim who has her hands cuffed behind her, taped mouth, and a plastic bag taped over her head. A fairly decent scene that is fairly long. The victim is supposed to be Laura Linney but I'm sure it's a body double (as the bag over her head makes it impossible to tell that it's her. See URL).

The scene pops up again later (no details as to not give plot specs away), and there's also a scene where Kate, trying to recreate the crime scene, tapes her mouth, cuffs herself, and duct-tapes a bag over her head.

Very good as a movie and not bad for Gimp material. Although I wish they would have reversed the roles to have Kate as the nude victim (killer body!) and Laura as the reporter.

Gimp material scene score (with special appeal to asphyxia fans) a solid : B+

In the original "Lethal Weapon," a shirtless, chained-up Mel Gibson was electrotortured by bad guy Gary Busey. Was there a similar scene in the first sequel?

Of course, one of the great mainstream female electrotorture scenes is the beautiful Peta Wilson chained up AOH and getting zapped in the "Friend" episode of "La Femme Nikita."

MAV: I haven't seen any of her movies, so I don't know whether Sophie Monk can act or not, but she sure is cute. And she looks delicious tied to a bed naked.

She also looks pretty good all hot and sweaty after a workout (see link above).

My major criticism of the three is that the Seven Days was so dark it was really hard to watch. I actually enjoyed Jane's efforts is the other two, some of the scenes went on too long, but she suffers magnificently.

Also, question for Jane, apparently the web site is now only the store and forum, will the membership section be reopened or is that a thing of the past? I found the Diary and Training journals interesting, and the site kept promising more to come - is that still in the works, or the emphasis now only on the store. Just wondering. The much anticipated Blakemore Returns is now available at the Sgt. Major's website backdoorbondage.com. Although it is not clear, I think this is the first of several installments featuring Blakemore. This installment consists of two video clips. The first is a seven-minute suspension of Amber Rayne; the second, a 22-minute interview of Blakemore.

Amber Rayne's suspension begins with her already bound, gagged, and partially stripped. She is topless wearing high heels, pantyhose, and the shredded remnants of her clothes. She is standing with her hands tied over her head. Her ankles are tied together, and a crotch rope is pulled taut between her legs. She is muted with a cloth gag. She struggles and mmphs alone for the first few moments of the scene, until she is joined by Blakemore and the Sgt. Major. The Sgt. Major sports his signature mask and Blackmore wears a hood, so their faces are hidden.

They set to tormenting Amber Rayne who waits helplessly. There is much verbal taunting, and it is revealed that they have kidnapped her with the intension of selling her as a slave. To make her predicament more uncomfortable, Blakemore tightens her crotch rope and the Sgt. Major lifts her feet off the floor. As she hangs by her wrists and crotch rope, she struggles vigorously and complaints loudly. At a couple points, she is ordered to hump the crotch rope, which she does with amazing ferociousness. She swings around as if on fire. Satisfied with her predicament, the two men leave Amber Rayne to deal with it as best she can.

This is a very good scene. The bondage is tight and demanding. There is no doubt that Amber Rayne is in real distress. She is cute, petite, and an excellent victim. First, let me thank weewilly and LTL for their fine reviews. I am interested in the The Life of David Gale because I've had a thing for Laura Linney ever since she played a rape victim who murdered her Japanese rapist on an old episode of Law and Order. Has anyone seen any of the Slave Castle movies from Attackers? I have been ignoring them up to now, as I thought the premise looked a bit silly (unlike the premise for the Slave Island movies, which has always seemed entirely plausible to me), but Slave Castle 3 has certainly caught my attention. The star of that film, Emi Harukaze, is smoking hot and I get the sense Slave Castle 3 could be pretty good.

It's tough to know for certain, based on the stills, but I'm thinking Jane's "agent" outfit will be really sexy. Of course, I also liked her Beatnik poet look in Red Room.

About the time the movie came out, I heard Laura Linney interviewed about David Gale. In response to a question about whether she appeared in the nude scenes, she said something like, "It's all me."

I agree that it is a great suspense movie, and watching Laura squirming on the floor bound and nude is a real treat.

I stand corrected. Who'd have thought that Laura Linney would have such a nice body. That info should make the scene even more appealing to A Canadian now.

Like I stated earlier, IMO it would have been nice to have Laura's and Kate's rolls reversed (strictly form a Gimp standpoint), but as I watched the movie unfold, I was really hoping that the victim was going to be Berlin (played by Rhona Mitra (see URL)...BTW she was the rape victim in "Hollowman"), who later accuses David Gale of rape. Well, I guess this would be a good time as any to go back in time for some older Blakemore work. So here goes:

BONDAGE CLASSICS #13

This HOM effort compiles seven separate stories, some outstanding, others disappointing. A number of consistencies run throughout the film. There is consistently no dialogue. The women are consistently hot. The bondage is consistently tight. And the editing is consistently bad. (Oh, and this review is consistently long-winded.)

Forced Entry

Kathy Knight is in big trouble. A masked man (Whitman/Blakemore) reads a note instructing him to "make her cooperate" because she has details on something called the "Hutchins Affair." He enters her apartment as the pretty blond target tries to flee out the window. He forces her to put leather straps on her wrists and ankles, and then stands her on a stool. Her wrist straps are chained to a ring above and the stool is removed. As she's hanging there, her short yellow one-piece shirt/dress gets lifted up, exposing her black panty-encased ass. She kicks at him with her white, knee-high boots so he secures her ankles together.

Now on to the good stuff. He unzips the front of her top to reveal a nice set of natural tits, which he naturally fondles and slaps. As her legs start to glisten in sweat, he yanks off her panties and dangles them in front of her face. She pleads no, and closes her mouth. We may not know what the hell the Hutchins Affair is, but we sure know where those panties are gonna end up.

He entices her to cooperate by smacking her tits with a belt, then packs the panties in and keeps them place with the belt. He then uses a long piece of wood as a leg-spreader bar.

Suddenly, she's seated on the stool. He binds her arms behind, but she still won't cooperate. Again, without a smooth transition, he has her tits tied and plays with her nipples and pussy as she shakes her head.

Showing he means business (after all, this has to do with the *shudder* Hutchins Affair), he attaches a makeshift wooden dildo to a stick. Kathy is now standing, arms tied in front but legs still secured to the spreader bar. He wraps a belt around her neck and inserts the dildo, with the bottom end of the stick screwed into the spreader bar so the contraption is an upside down "T."

Although the bottom of her dress obscures our view of the insertion, we do see some blood oozing down the wooden dildo. Blakemore shoves it in a bit more and blood appears smeared on his fingers. He molests her as she gives a great look of agony.

Next, she is lying on her back, ungagged and arms in front holding the wooden dildo that's still inside her. Blakemore panty gags her again and leaves her there as she plays with her breasts. I guess this means she is cooperating.

This was a pretty mean-spirited entry, but the choppy editing was an annoyance, as well as the "happy" ending.

Bondage by Prescription

Lovely nurse Rene Baker is sitting alone when a man, presumably Blakemore, in surgeon's clothes and a grotesque monster mask, chloroforms her. She comes to sporting a ring gag consisting of white tape and, I think, the inner role of the tape. Her wrists are taped over her head to a vertical pipe, and her legs are tied together with rope and suspended. Blakemore unbuttons her nurse's uniform (I guess white garter belts are part of the dress code there) and attaches medical clamps to her gorgeous and natural tits. Give me Rene Baker's body over any surgically enhanced one nowadays.

But wait! She kicks him! Startled and a bit befuddled, Blakemore gets a belt and lashes her tits and midriff, then uses a spreader bar to keep those pesky legs in place. He pulls down her sheer panties a bit and yanks at her pubes with the clamp.

Then the annoying editing takes over.

Suddenly, she's ungagged as he applies a tight crotchrope and rubs her pussy. Fade out and fade in to her AOH, in a chair, with her legs still in the spreader bar that's hoisted up, leaving her pussy vulnerable to attack. She is rope-gagged. Blakemore strokes her lovely legs and pussy, and then inserts a dildo (not shown but her facial reaction indicates what's going on).

Like magic, Blakemore's now sitting in the chair with Rene standing over his knee. Her arms are tied behind her back and she is not gagged. He again plays with her goodies, then forces her down to give him a blow job.

This is another strong entry. Rene is gorgeous and gives some great facial expressions while Blakemore is typically mean. But this segment also suffers from choppy editing. The transitions between some of the different bondage settings are non-existent. For example, after he starts forcing her to give him head, we immediately jump to ...

Captured 1

A very hot blonde (don't know her name but she appears in other Bondage Classics films) in a really short skirt and white boots comes home as the villain (Blakemore) sneaks into the basement through a window. The clumsy intruder knocks over a flower pot so blondie wisely decides to investigate--alone. As she makes her way down the stairs, the villain in a stocking mask attacks, and he somehow knocks her unconscious by simply grabbing her arms.

Seated on the floor, she is tied to a concrete pillar by her elbows behind her back. As she awakens, he rips open her blouse and stuffs a wad of cloth in her mouth and cleave gags her. He orders her to stand up as the music intensifies. She refuses so he removes his belt and smacks her a bit. We get close-ups of her face in a supposed reaction to the lashing. She looks absolutely beautiful.

After blondie is finally standing, Blakemore ties her legs to the pillar. But this entire vignette suffers because she herself gets into her predicament. With her free hands, she fondles her breasts, which remain encased in a white bra. With some encouragement from his belt, Blakemore orders her to take down her skirt and we see she's wearing some damn sexy white panties. After some bad editing, he secures one of her ankles up to a pulley, ties her wrists together and applies a crotch-rope that gets looped over the pulley. Then he waves goodbye to her.

A rather weak entry, given the consensual aspect of it and the fact that her underwear is never removed. It gets better, and stranger, in ...

Captured 2

It seems the intruder is a music lover. Our blond victim is led by the crotchrope, arms tied behind her back, and she's still in her underwear. He hoists up her arms so she's in a standing strappado, and the crotchrope is reapplied, Finally, and I mean finally, he removes her bra to reveal her natural tits. He gives them a squeeze and flicks her nipples. He puts her on the filthy basement floor, hogties her and gives her some more tit groping and a reverse wedgie.

Then, for reasons unexplained, he opens up a portable stereo in a suitcase and plays an album ("War Live").

Next, she's standing and her elbows are tied behind while her wrists are secured in front to a rope tied around her waist. After a close-up of the turntable (?!), she's now tied AOH with one of her legs bent at the knee and her ankle tied to her thigh. She does some nice jiggling. After some more screwy editing, her other leg is roped in the same fashion so she's suspended.

He grabs at her tits, which magically transports her to the floor again, where her wrists are tied in front and her legs are free of the ropes, but not the white boots. He suspends her upside down by the ankles, and her arms are now tied behind her back. We get some nice close-up shots of ... the album cover for War Live. He leaves her suspended so she can listen to Eric Burdon.

This vignette is an improvement from Captured 1. But my feelings on using lingering shots of the turntable and War Live album can be summed up by lyrics from The Boss:

Despite the title, there is only one "bitch" here, a brunette who is nicely tape-gagged with her arms tied behind. She is wearing a black party dress. A ski-mask wearing dude leads her to a bathroom and ties her wrists to the top of the stall frame. He removes her dress so she's left in only a black thong, stockings and black high heels. He removes the cinder block she was standing on so she's suspended, and leaves her there to struggle helplessly.

He returns to free her and ties her to a ladder, face side up, and arms secured behind through the rungs. Her ankles are tied to the sides of the ladder. He manhandles her tits and pussy.

He reties her wrists so they are over her head then whips her tits and legs with three strands of rope.

Despite the beautiful eyes of the victim and her convincing struggles, this isn't that strong. The whipping part was starting to get good as he targeted her pussy, but it ended too quickly. And I would have liked to see some indication on why she was given the label "bitch."

The Collaborator

In 1945 France, at the headquarters of the Free French Army, two hooded guys capture a lovely brunette traitor and secure her wrists behind her back with leather straps. They make it into a strappado for good measure. Like all good spies, she's wearing black panties, garter belt and high heels. The dungeon, by the way, looks like the basement in the Captured vignettes.

They secure her to a chair and attach her crotchrope to a pulley. One of the interrogators wraps a belt around her right ankle, and lifts it up and ties it to the free end of the crotch rope. Now, she's in a standing spreadeagle tied between two wooden posts, but suddenly she's released (not shown) and ungagged. They crotchrope her and tie her wrists behind her as the ballgag magically reappears in her mouth. She's suspended upside down with her legs spread wide. One guy plays with her tits a bit while waving documents in front of her. The Nazi-sympathizer shakes her head no.

I liked this vignette, although it suffers from no dialogue, given that it's supposed to be an interrogation scene. Still, she gives some nice looks of disgust and anger over what's happening to her in her defiance. Viva la resistance!

Suspended Tension

We immediately jump into the action. A topless gloved brunette in black panties and garter belt is tied AOH in a basement. The villain hoists her up. He grips her nice firm breasts and then he sits down to admire his handiwork. He pulls out a stopwatch and has a smoke, (supposedly 5 or so). He lets her down after an hour, according to the watch, and then we immediately jump out of the action. The film ends.

This is by far the weakest entry. It's way too brief and does not contain any real "tension" as mentioned in the title.

To sum up, Bondage Classics #13 has a lot of good stuff. The victims are all incredibly hot with sleek natural bodies. The bondage is mainly typical Blakemore, which means it has a nice air of nastiness. But all of the vignettes (which seem to get shorter as we go along) suffer from appalling editing. And some dialogue would have been nice.

Yet the pros outweigh the cons IMHO. Of the Bondage Classics films I have seen, #13 is lucky.

I'll give this a solid B

I watched a VHS version. The DVD (which may have cleaned up some of the editing) is available at Video Mayhem.

At this time we are not able to offer membership because our previous processor dumped us and we have thus far not been able to find a new one that doesn't have a problem with our online content. As much as we try to explain to the companies that the blood is not real, they still won't take us for membership. On a different note, I saw Public Enemies in the theatre last night and there was a short scene where Marion Cotillard is being slapped around and interrogated. The movie is senseless, long, and has no plot or character development, but it's worth renting (maybe) for that scene. I wouldn't say that it's particularly hot because you have to sit through more than 2 hours to get to that point, and by that time you really just want it to end. At least that's how I felt.

AristoCrux Review: Well, after my review of the Perils of Jane: Part III, I thought I'd post my opinions of this movie... and I enjoyed it a lot more than Perils.

The opening starts with Jane, apparently bored at her manor house. I LOVED the setting here. The house is beautifully decorated and really sets the mood. Jane's attire is also nice as a yellow medieval (sort of) dress, and her hair tied back prettily with a red ribbon.

Anyway, bored with her rich living, Jane goes for a walk and comes across a lowly wood cutter. Apparently displeased with the way he looks at her, she spits on him. Big mistake! He pursues her, and puts her in a sleeper hold until unconscious. The woodcutter strips off the yellow dress and ties her face down to a large rock by a creek. I was a little disappointed that Jan was not wearing underwear or a corset when the dress came off... just a crinoline. I guess they weren't in the budget... Nice stockings though.

Anyway, she wakes up, and the woodcutter begins whipping her back and ass. Very nice, and it goes on for a long time. Then, for completeness he turns her over and whips the other side. Jane suffers nicely, and the position forces her breasts upwards quite nicely, but the bondage is very poor. Eventually, he takes her to a tree, and suspends her AOH, feet dangling. She's wearing just the crinoline and stockings still. He eventually rips up the crinoline so its kind of like a mini-skirt. He whips her as she hangs. The bondage isn't bad, but you can tell that she's holding onto a bar rather then suspended by her wrists.

After whipping her in this position for awhile, he cuts her down and begins walking her elsewhere. He takes her to a shack and strappedos her. He whips her for a while, leaves her to stand in the difficult position for a long time, and then takes her down. He ties her wrists to a plank, behind her head and forces her to walk. She's barefoot at this time (nice touch!), and he whips her to keep her moving. Several time she falls to her knees from exhaustion, and the woodcutter whips her more fiercely till she gets up and starts walking. This goes on for a looong time.

Eventually, she gets to where they are going and she falls to the ground in exhaustion. The woodcutter gets some nails and uses the ribbon in her hair to tie them around her neck.

He then take two of them and nails her wrists to the plank. Nice struggling here... she suffers nicely. He makes her get up, whipping her to get her to walk to a large, dead tree. He take a rope loop from the center of the plank and loops it over the top of the tree, forcing Jane on her tip toes. He then nails her feet, slightly spreading her legs, to the tree trunk. As always, the crucifixion is well done, although the straps that she's holding onto on the plank are clearly visible in some shots.

Jane hangs there for a while before the woodcutter comes over and FINALLY removes what's left of the crinoline leaving her completely naked and crucified. He puts a crown of thorns on her head, and blood is seen dripping down her face. Many wonderful long shots, from a variety of angles all along Jane's naked body, lingering on her small perky breasts, nipples and her bush... even giving us an upward angle from between her legs! The outside sunlight does a wonderful job of showing just how smooth and silky Jane's skin is. Poor Jane hangs there, suffering for a while before the woodcutter takes his whip and gives her the most vicious and bloody whipping yet. Afterwards, the camera lingers around her bloodied body until she apparently dies.

I really liked the costumes, the setting and the camera work here much better than Jane in Peril III. Unfortunately, the woodcutter has all the personality of Q-tip. In addition, there is hardly one bit of sexual touching... I think one time he sucks on her nipple. Not that I'm saying that I want to see her raped, but given the circumstance portrayed some type of fondling makes sense.

Giving the description in Agent X, it appears this will be rectified in the new peril story. My overall grade is a B.

It is similar, much much longer, though not as intense in the actress response. Lexxi had been going for 5 hours by the time we got to that sequence, so was exhausted. I would guess, the actress on Nikita got some trailer nap time and food services before she got all hooked up. :-)

It sounds like AristoCrux is a good one for fans of whippings, assuming that J.J. puts his heart into the whippings. In some of the Red Feline movies I have seen, I found Jane sold some of the whippings much better than J.J. Hopefully, that's not the case in this film.

I will say, however, that I feel you were being a bit judgmental when you said, "Not that I'm saying that I want to see her raped...". Why not? I haven't seen this one but I have seen a few DVDs from that series and I find they typically have some scenes that are quite good mixed in with a few others I might be able to do without. It sounds like Bondage Classics 13 is in that same category. The upside with these Bondage Classics DVDs is that the scenes that are good are often very good, even with the music that accompanies the short films. And the women have that natural beauty from the '70s and early '80s that is so much more appealing than what you often find in American porn today.

I will keep my eyes open for Bondage Classics 13. Now, I have to focus on getting that War song out of my head.

Brutus: Always enjoying reading what you have to say. In this case, I've seen Bondage Classics #13 and I'd say your impressions are pretty much spot-on. IMO, that's one of the better HOM comps out there (even Scribbler gave it an A) and I added quite a few of those segments to my highlights tape back in the day. The HOM loops had their limitations; the most obvious being that there was no sound and they were also limited in their running time, since only a certain amount of film could fit on those little 8mm reels. They made up for it by making sure the bondage was tight, uncomfortably restraining and often quite cruel in the sexual positions they put the women in. Which is exactly why they stand the test of time.

This may seem a bit anal-retentive, but I would call Jane's white undergarment a petticoat or slip, not a crinoline. Crinolines are either stiff, flared-out undergarments or cage-like constructions worn under the large hoop-skirted dresses that were fashionable in the 19th century.

I'll let Ralphus do the heavy lifting and describe the details of the film and my review will focus more on my opinion of the movie. I guess the length of my review (always an issue, it seems...) will depend on how much I agree or disagree with Ralphus.

In the interim, I will say that Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts is worth seeing as it may very well feature Lisa Kinkaid's final performance. And Lisa does look pretty hot in this film (I like her better with her hair a bit longer, as it is in this movie). However, viewers should be prepared for the audio problems that were flagged by the master, Sardu. The dialogue in some of the wide shots is barely audible.

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this documentary, Not Quite Hollywood, which has been released on DVD. It's about the exploitation movies that were made in Australia in the '70s, which apparently were known as Ozploitation. I haven't seen the movie but I saw the trailer for it and I'm pretty sure it includes a clip from that GIMP movie where a topless woman is tied to the front of a truck (the name of the film escapes me). This documentary could be interesting. In my case, the only Aussie film I know from that era is Mad Max.

But thanks for that tip about Aussie exploitation. I'm always looking for new (to me) sleaze to explore.

Ya know, now that you bring it up, J.J.'s whippings weren't all that enthusiastic... and Jane sold it better than he did. A really cool whipping trick that a lot of mainstream movies use is to show just the whipper really giving her "What for" but don't actually show the whip hitting... just the sounds of it hitting skin and the girl screaming. Then cut to a close shot of the whip hitting but not showing a long shot of the lash strike. Very effective, but its all done in the editing room. The scenes are edited together and the sounds added later... but an effective edit is a beautiful thing.

That's often how it is done in the Giga movies that some of us enjoy. The Giga films show very intense whippings but in many cases you don't really see the whip hitting the woman.

Another trick, I believe, is to use felt whips that don't hurt at all (I think this is what Rick does). That works for me. I don't want to see anyone get hurt. I just want an effective illusion of the punishment being dished out.

In fairness to J.J., he's not the only one who could stand to put a little more "oomph" into his whippings. In the past, I have said the same thing about Dan Hawke.

Travis Lee confirmed the use of felt whips in ZFX films. He also said that the felt would get heavier because of all the sweat and water sprayed on the women, so there may have been a bit of real pain in the extended whipping sessions. Finally, where on earth can I get my hands on some of the old scenes from the late seventies and early eighties?

It's an interesting documentary, although I think the only film mentioned that would appeal to GIMPers (based on clips shown in the documentary) was, in fact, Fair Game with Cassandra Delaney as the woman who is tied topless to the front of a speeding monster truck. The documentary spends about three minutes assessing that film and the segment includes some interview clips with Delaney, who still looks hot and seemed to be quite amused by the experience. "The male characters were a little nasty," she says. "And they got even nastier. So I just had to kill them."

The segment also includes interview clips with director Quentin Tarantino, who seems to be ecstatic about the scene where Delaney is bound to the front of the speeding monster truck. "Who the fuck thought of that?" Tarantino says. "What the fuck was going through their minds as they're shooting that sequence?"

Quentin Tarantino is a freak... I love every movie he does... NOBODY writes dialogue like he does. Nobody. I'd like to pick up that review just for the interviews you're talking about... as I thought the EXACT same thing... "Who the fuck came up with that shit?" Tying a woman to the front of a truck, stripping her, and then driving around the outback like a maniac. Ms Delaney did make a very attractive hood ornament though. Classic GIMP scene.

I actually had a membership to Zen not long ago and decided on a whim to check some of their "making of" videos. One showed what I expected pretty much, they have a guy hold the end of the whip up on her skin where they want it to appear she's being hit, keeping his fingers out of site of the camera directly on it, and immediately he lets go when they start rolling. Not sure but I think I saw another where the end of the whip is lightly glued to her clothes which are to appear shredded after it hits anyway. When the camera rolls the whipper pulls the whip away quickly and it slightly moves her pre-torn clothing as it unsticks. This makes it appear as though it hit and caused the clothes to tear, which is also pretty cool.

Really think though it'd be nice if they incorporated the already discussed felt for more distance shots, we'd have ourselves one fine whipping there. Given the effort they seem to put into it already, can't imagine why they haven't tried this already.

From the poll question I answered a little while ago (Golden Age of BDSM), I stated I was as much frustrated then as now...So I guess I don't share everyone's reverence with Blakemore. When he was on, he was on! But when he wasn't, he misses big (to my tastes). One of my all time favorite bondage movies is "Tourist Trap". Once in an adult bookstore I saw a film loop that must have been shot around the time of TT or possibly from Bittersweet Revenge but was silent and showed you placing several clothespins on the hot and sweaty legs of Rene Baker. Do you know if that is available anywhere on video?

Another question is what ever happened to all the film that was shot from those movies? I trust that you were also the editor, as I heard that you had gone to film school. As some of the scenes in Tourist Trap are tantalizingly brief, I was wondering if longer scenes might be rotting away in some rusty file cabinet.

I am also a fan of the old Bondage Classics and the Punished series and also one called "Helpless" that I only recently found in downloadable form. My question is, were there still photos taken during the Punished and Helpless shoots? There are many great scenes among these that I would love to have good quality stills from.

I absolutely love wrist suspension more than any other kind of bondage depiction and you always provided great suspensions! Yeah, it's pretty obvious that the South of the Border films were your homage to Tourist Trap. You're too humble to say it, so I will. IMO, each of the seven SOB films actually exceeded the greatness of Whitman's film. You took a classic and improved upon it, and that's not easy to do. The South of the Border series is my personal favorite of all of ZFX's multiple film series, mostly because of the prison theme and because they are torture-heavy, and a few of the offerings (SOB-4 and SOB-6) are true modern-day classics of the genre.

I remember Tourist Trap with Chuck Connors. He was doing the plaster mold and telling the victim what she should be feeling while the plaster was going on the face. I really think she passed out or died of fright before he covered her nose. Chuck Connors could play a real scary SOB. Never would have thought of that from Lucas McCain of Rifleman fame.

Gosh Golly Gee - so many questions already posted don't think I could add any - looks like LTL pretty much asked the one question I would have for Blakemore/Whitman, that being what or who did he watch in those days and consider them classics - can we get this on a conference call or something?

Thinking back on ole Chuck Connors in "Tourist Trap", I recall a similar plaster suffocation on a table theme done in "Fatal Pulse" and actually thought it to be staged a bit better - course there was no Tanya Roberts tied to a post watching.

Ralphus - yeah, I think the strongest entry in the SOB series, part 6, superior to "Tourist Trap" - amazing though that the original would stand the test of time and still hold up quite favorably against most of the late comers.

Backwoods (2008)

First there was Leatherface. Next came Mike Myers. And then it was Jason Vorhees. Now on DVD, Director Marty Weiss presents Josiah: the latest in a long line of hulking, dumbass killers who have no idea what to do with damsels at their disposal.

Josiah (Robert "Bonecrusher" Mukes) is the "monster" in Backwoods, an outdoors thriller about a paintball game that gets disrupted by a doomsday cult of redneck lunatics. His job is to provide muscle for the cult and expand its population by raping and impregnating kidnapped women who have been strapped to a bed.

For the most part, his off-screen deeds are successful. But onscreen? Well, let's just say that this movie features one of the most ridiculous escapes I have ever seen. And that's a shame because there are some other good GIMP elements in this movie.

Josiah gets it right with his first victim, a large-breasted girl named Gail (Willow Geer) who is camping in the mountains in northern California with her boyfriend Tom. Tom gets butchered and Gail gets chased and captured.

In an underground military compound, two guys put Gail in a cage and strap her arms over her head for an upper spreadeagle. After meeting cult leader Mother Ruth (Deborah Van Valkenburgh), Gail, wearing a white robe, is strapped down in a rather loose spreadeagle to a bed with those thick comfy leather cuffs used in mental institutions. Josiah come up to her and smiles leeringly. Then she struggles and screams 'nooooo' as the rape is implied.

The plot of the movie revolves around a corporate retreat in the woods involving two teams playing paintball. Naturally, there's one hot woman on each team, Lee (Haylie Duff) and Maggie (Mimi Michaels).

After the usual "meet the weird rednecks at the gas station" scene and the swimming scene with NO nudity, the game finally starts. And for all their macho talk, these guys are no match for the cultists.

The corporate colleagues, all wearing fatigues, get picked off with arrows or are easily subdued. As for the girls, they get abducted separately.

Around the 36 minute mark, Maggie is brought to the underground fortress with a black bag over her head. She's been gagged with duct tape. Mother Ruth informs the terrified and confused Maggie that this is her new home.

Still gagged and fighting furiously against two guys holding her arms, Maggie is forced on a chair, handcuffed behind and takes a needle to the neck, causing her to pass out.

Around the 43 minute mark, it's Lee's turn. She's brought in, tape gagged, and she sees a drugged out Maggie laying on a bed naked (but covered in a blanket). After meeting Mother Ruth, (and some scenes of guys being tortured), Lee's in a white robe thingy strapped spreadeagle to a bed. She's surrounded by other women, including Gail, whom Lee recognizes from a missing person's poster. Gail is visibly pregnant and brainwashed.

After some more guy torture, Josiah comes in as Lee struggles. Although Lee is far from being stretched out, she is safely secured and looks sexy as hell. The women finally leave Josiah and Lee alone. Josiah caresses her face and is about to get down to business but, alas, his stupidity ruins everything.

The following is what Lee actually says to him. And since Josiah is a mute, I added what was likely going on in the big galoot's mind:

Lee: Wait. Wait. Untie my arm. I want you to untie my arm.

Josiah (thinking): Hey, this hot woman is talking to me. Maybe she likes me. I better do as she says.

Lee: OK. Now untie the other one.

Josiah: She really likes me! She's not screaming in terror!

Lee: Now, untie my feet.

Josiah: She's still talking to me! I have a girlfriend. Wait'll I tell Ma.

Lee: Good. Good. And untie that one.

Josiah: Heh heh! I'm gonna get me some! Maybe we can become best friends and ... Hey, she kicked me in the head! Ouch! She bit my finger! Where's she running to? Wait. She .. she doesn't like me? GRRRRRRR!

Obviously, the movie required the escape scene. But this was way too easy. It might have been more plausible if, for example, Gail snapped out of it and smacked the hulk with a hammer. At the very least, this is a prime example of why women victims should remain gagged.

The last bit of GIMP action comes when Maggie is rescued. She's clearly traumatized by the rape she endured, which is sort of seen through warped flashbacks.

The remainder of the film is the predictable chase through the mountains.

I was a bit surprised by this movie. I was expecting inbred cannibals and buckets of gore. This was more of an action/thriller movie, which was rather dumb, but mildly entertaining. Haylie Duff and Maggie Michaels were convincing and sexy as the victims. Willow Geer, although not a stunning beauty, was attractive enough. The bondage and the struggling were believable. And it was interesting to see how Deborah Van Valkenburgh has evolved since "The Warriors."

Unfortunately, there was no nudity in the film. The little subplot of raping women to raise the population of the cult was a nice touch for our purposes. But if the doomsday cult thinks that the "seed" from that big idiot Josiah is the key to their survival, Armageddon can't come soon enough for them.

First off, you're not being rude; I think it's a legitimate question. I apologize for not getting the databases back up in timely manner. You have to realize that they took me many months to build them originally, so now I have to basically start again from scratch to rebuild them after we lost the content for the third time. And even now there's more new material to be added to them since the last time.

Honestly, it's a daunting task, one that will take multiple hours of work, and my free time is limited. I don't usually get home from work until after 10 PM and don't normally have time throughout the week to work on them. Personally, I love it when reviewers express their disdain for the content of a particular movie by telling us exactly the whole reason why we shouldn't see it, and giving us the glorious details as to why it's so shameful and awful. Misogynist? That's my favorite word, bring it on! More movies need that; it would make it more fun to check out horror films if they were meaner toward women. Gratuitous female nudity? And what's so wrong about that?

Brutus: I ever tell you how much I love reading your reviews? As usual, this latest one was a lot of fun. Although, it's always pisses me off in these movies when women escape from their binds by convincing someone dumb to untie them. And repeat, it's ALWAYS someone dumb, because what guy with an ounce of intelligence would untie a woman for any reason? How stupid do you have to be? If she's tied up, you can do whatever you want to her and that's as good as it gets.

And here's another symptom of today's horror films that greatly annoys me. A film with rape that doesn't contain nudity? They sure didn't have that problem back in the 1970s and 80s. What is wrong with this generation? What happened to good old fashioned exploitation?

Still, both victims are easy on the eyes. I'll check it out. Too bad they couldn't have cast Haylie's comely sister Hillary in the lead role instead.

That's exactly how I found out about I Spit on Your Grave. Siskel & Ebert did an entire show on "this disturbing trend where women are seen as sport or prey". Not exact quote but you get the idea. I've seen commentary on DVDs where the directors and producers have thanked the 2 above, as it made people want to go out and see (or buy) the films after opening to lackluster crowds.

I guess the old saying is true...there's no such thing as bad publicity.

And also wrote about being behind on the databases: "I wish I could just stop working for a month so I could get caught up and just work on fun stuff, but I have to earn a living. My cats are hungry and I have to buy them food."

What? This is not a full time gig! Let's get your priorities straight.

The latest entry is a movie called GNAW. A UK "horror" flick along the lines of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but with better bondage and nudity. Overall I would say this movie sucks story wise... I mean really... how many times can you tell the story of secluded country folk who have turned to cannibalism. Several fine babes meet gruesome ends in this one, and the movie starts you off with one of said babes running through the woods in a T-shirt and panties. She's re-captured and chained full spread eagle to a table! Wonderful struggling and bondage here as the bad guy approaches with a knife. He cuts off her T-shirt but unfortunately she's wearing a bra underneath... which he doesn't remove. He simply proceeds to disembowel her... very graphically I might add. Why? Why? When will these movie serial killers learn? First you fulfill your sexual urges, THEN you eat the girl.

The other scene of note is a poor lass who gets captured and taken to a shed where the guy uses a two pronged pitchfork to stab her in the gut. Her boyfriend who was looking for her sees this and runs away. What a "hero" he turns out to be. Anyway, still alive left to her fate by her loving boyfriend, the next scene has her completely naked, sitting in some type of tub, wrists bound to the sides. She's still alive, but bleeding from the mouth and her stomach wounds. She meets a gruesome end via chainsaw.

Once again the best bondage and most graphic torture is reserved for the male victims in this movie, and no sexual touching is shown with the ladies. In the end, the main female character is shown captured and then the screen flashes "One Year Later." The secluded house is shown, and now there's a baby, supposedly fathered by our cannibal sicko... the rape and the fate of our heroine is not shown. Personally, I would not have shown the baby, but ended the movie with our heroine chained, naked and very pregnant going into labor... looking up and screaming, "Noooooo!" End movie. But the ending with feeding the baby blenderized human remains was just silly.

The real bonus to all of this one was that when I checked Netflix for availability I found it was on Instant View! Booyaa! B-

This movie is now #1 in my Netflix cue... lol.

Following this site daily, I realize everyone is into various levels of bondage, some with real elements and some that simply look real. I want to emphasis that in this movie everything is fake and except for the fact that Ms. Moore had to endure 4 hours of shooting--half of it while wet, she was in good spirits. I also want to make note of a flaw that may or may not affect your viewing pleasure. Because this was a scripted movie and not a live session, she had to stand with her arms suspended for a long time. Originally, this was to be done by her cuffs, but the discomfort was such, that we rigged rope handles for her to hold. What I forgot to do, was then attach my cable back to the cuffs to complete the effect. So, if studied, she is controlling all of her motion and balance via the rope hands. Just wanted to clarify.

I also want to note that Micah did a fantastic job and her acting as a victim was far better in this movie then anything I have seen her in to date.

Incidentally, according to "Mistress Michelle's Library" the origin of HOM was with a small company that sold fetish clothing. In 1964 the company opened a retail outlet in Chicago named Futura Fashions to market the clothing. The founders were Barry "Yogi" Klein and Lenny Burtman, both being cousins of Barbara Behr. ("Yogi" + "Behr"? Hmmm). Later in the 1960's the company was named House of Milan, after the town of Milan, Illinois, part of the Quad Cities complex on the Mississippi River border between Illinois and Iowa. (why?) Around 1970 HOM moved from Chicago to the San Fernando Valley section of LA, and was thereafter run by Barbara Behr. Interesting history, if true.

I was the one who rejected it when I was working as an editor at HOM in the late 80's. I couldn't even begin to get it past the lawyers since it included sex, bondage, and penetration with objects. Also HOM's owner, Mike, didn't want to do anything anywhere near the limits since he was getting old and didn't want to risk going to jail. That was the main reason everything got really bland starting in the mid to late 80's.

I never met Blakemore. He wasn't doing work for HOM by the time I got there. The closest I came was when he mailed us the tape and I took a look at it for Mike.

I got to HOM just before Bishop left. The owner's son-in-law was working as a salesman for a software company I was doing work for. He mentioned that his father-in-law owned an adult company. When he told me the company was HOM I told him I was familiar with their stuff. I had been buying HOM and Bizare Tri-Star videos for years. When I lived in New Orleans I used to stop at little adult store near Los Angeles Airport and buy tapes every time I went to California on a business trip. Anyway, I had him take me there and introduce me to his father-in-law. At the time they were processing all orders and mailings by hand. He paid me to computerize it all and for a few months I spent some time there working on the computers. I met Bishop but never got to know him. Once the computers were all working there was a month or two period I didn't go there. When I finally dropped by to fix some computer glitch I found out that the video editor had been fired and Bishop had quit over it.

The $75,000 video editing console they had purchased a few months earlier was gathering dust and they were paying an outside company to edit video for them. I'd always thought it'd be fun working on bondage shoots so I convinced Mike (the owner) to let me try editing one of the videos. I picked up and read a few books on editing and sat down and edited a video they'd shot a month or so earlier. It came out as well as the outside company was doing so Mike let me take over editing.

I edited all the videos for the next few years until I finally quit editing over creative differences with the director they had hired.

I turned the editing over to Brian Tarsis when I left.

But, yes, the reviewer's whiny complaints about all the torture and sadism have definitely made me interested in the movie.

LTL: I agree with Ralphus. "Fatal Pulse" is a must-see. The electrocution scene of Skylar Nicholas is one of my favorites, not only because she's beautiful, topless and gagged, but because her character was perfect as the sweet and innocent victim. The plaster scene on the topless (bitchy) victim was pretty good. One thing to note was that the plaster was apparently cold, if you get my "point."

This is a tough movie to find. I don't think it was released on DVD.

BTW, if you thought Deborah Van Valkenburgh looked bad at the end of "The Warriors," she looks even worse as Mother Ruth in "Backwoods."

I wasn't aware of that rule but technically speaking, it wasn't imaginary dialogue in the review. I only added what Josiah was likely thinking because his actions made no sense and I wanted to emphasize how easy it was for Lee to escape. Lee's brief lines were taken word-for-word from the movie.

I was just watching Mythbusters when a myth they were testing gave me an idea for a creative GIMP scenerio.

They had Adam secured to a board with nothing but duct tape. They lifted the board and tipped it over so Adam was facing towards the shop floor. Believe it or not, the tape held him secured in place on the board. Now Adam wasn't nude and he wasn't in merciless peril, but that isn't the scenerio that came to mind.

The scenerio I have in mind goes like this. Imagine you have a naked girl secured by her ankles, wrists, and waist to a frame and suspended over an old fashioned grill filled with red hot coals. Obviously, one might enjoy roasting a GIMP victim like that. What sort of other tortures might you want to put a girl who is secured like that through?

- Given that they all went 'beyond' what HOM was releasing, what was their genesis and were you involved in all of them?

- Were they shot at the same time as the stars were involved in their "regular' HOM filming and did the company know about them? I did note that at least one had the same star and setting in both the HOM and EP loops.

The reviews are much appreciated. I saw a similar one to Backwoods the other week. I think it was called Blood Brothers - set in the backwoods and most notable for one girl bound very tightly to a chair with barbed wire that could be tightened with a lever and another tied AOH where she is to be skinned alive... unfortunately only one piece was cut off before she got stabbed in the belly. Neither were naked and two others managed to escape, rather easily of course.

I have been a fan since I was 18 and first discovered his films and discovered the genre. It was because of him. His stuff endures and I continue to seek out "lost" content. I once thought the guy I worked with may have been John. They shared an uncanny resemblance and because no one knew where he was at the time, I thought, hmmmm.... you never know.

I read the previous posts and didn't see any questions about specific models. Maybe I overlooked them?

What were some of your most prominent actresses- Rene Bake, Georgia Van Helsing and Sharon Montgomery, for example- like off screen?

Rene Baker and Sharon Montgomery always struck me as fairly sweet girls (albeit with beautiful natural breasts) but Georgia came across as a real "bitch on wheels" which made it great when she was cruelly dominated. Full disclosure- I have always had a "thing" for Rene Baker. She really sells it in a submissive role.

This was mentioned before but bears repeating- What exactly were all those girls doing hiking through the woods in high heels?? More importantly, do we care??? (I would be okay if this question did not make the cut ;))

As for the movie, sounds like it's worth checking out, although more of the same old story...lots of gore, little to no skin and the rape is offscreen. I liked your line in the review: "First you fulfill your sexual urges, THEN you eat the girl." Stupid cannibals.

For you to work at HOM during that era, I'll bet you've got a lot of stories you could tell. Most interesting to me is that there was an unreleased, apparently unseen videotape of Blakemore's work that HOM rejected. It's like discovering a lost Mozart masterpiece that no one knew about. I'll definitely try to ask him if he knows anything about it.

Dude, if you've got her tied up like that, you can do whatever your sick heart pleases. Just as long as she doesn't like it. And you certainly don't have to eat her, either. Roasting her over a period of hours just softens her up and makes her skin more sensitive, and therefore increases her pain quota and, in turn, your fun quota.

Ralphus, giving you an excuse to post a daily picture of a girl roasting over a bed of hot coals wasn't my intention in any way. I was simply sharing a creative GIMP scenerio that came to mind while watching some mainstream TV. I gotta say though, I had a hunch that you might post such an image.

So who are the Hamiltons?... just your average all-American family. They work a job, go to school, own a house and car, they could be your next door neighbors.

After the death of their parents the oldest of 4 children takes on the responsibility of raising the family. He seems to be doing a good job of it too if it weren't for the fact that they keep having to move from town to town because one of the twins keeps picking up girls who end up dead. No he's not a serial killer...he happens to be a quite ordinary vampire, as is the rest of his family. By ordinary, I mean they show no differences between you and I other than the need for blood to survive.

There is actually quite a bit of bondage in this one. In fact right from the very beginning as the opening credits roll, we see a young girl tied and gagged freeing herself from her bonds.

After picking up a couple of girls fairly early in the movie, and after making out with one, Wendell Hamilton punches 'em knocking 'em out. Next scene they are tied AOH and gagged. After a while Wendell comes in and takes one of the girls and straps her to a table to drain some of her blood. She is then returned to hang AOH until later dying from blood loss.

The other victim is tied throughout most of the rest of the movie as the youngest has developed a crush on her. The vampirism thing is age related, so the youngest is starting to get the blood urge, as at the same time trying to rescue the second victim. Which urge will win out?

Anyway, no nudity in the bondage scenes but there are quite a few scenes of the same 2 girls, and in the same bonds (gagged/AOH or gagged/strapped to table).

As entertainment, I'd give it a B
As Gimp, I'd give it a C+

In what seems to be a recurring theme, a group of young, good-looking women are terrorized and/or murdered by a bunch of in-breed country folk.

The set-up of the story has three sisters inheriting a lakeside motel as they take a weekend trip to check out their inheritance.

2 of the 3 sisters are joined by a boyfriend, a female friend, and another couple, as they load up the RV and hit the road after the funeral. Meanwhile the 3rd sister (played by Tara Gerard) has foregone the services to drive up to the motel by herself. Can we smell impending doom for the solo traveler?

Anyway, she arrives by herself, gets a room, and settles in with a bottle of booze. A little bit later there is a pounding on the door, then a sudden break in as she's hit in the face by one of 2 long-haired, overall-wearing, country in-breds, who again, as in so many movies of the like, can't or don't talk.

The girl is then held down while she has her ankles duct taped to the floor. I'm thinking to myself, hmmm alright good start. Then only to be followed with, WTF...those assholes, as they drive a rod through her ankles so they can later attach a weight to it and dump her in the lake.

What really sucks about this scene is that the 2 wackos are horny f*cks as we find out later in the flick. And IMO, this was the hottest of a very appealing cast.

Anyway, the first scene was a foreboding to how the rest of the movie would play out. Later, after a nude scene, one of the girls played by Malea Richardson (now dressed of course), is secured to a tree for an implied rape. How is she secured? With a pickaxe through the face into the tree, that's how. I can't think of a more appealing look for someone, can you? Those idiots!

Then there's another rape where again nothing is shown. The girl stumbles away afterwards...but with her pants on. The only real Gimp scene is with the 2 remaining sisters (Kelsey Crane & Kelsey Weeden) tied to chairs.

So many missed opportunities in this one. Especially since the 2 remaining sisters are kept alive so that the clan can increase their numbers by breeding with the girls. Then I started thinking...so why then did they kill the first sister. It turns out she was only a ½ sister, so that would mean that the bloodline would be tainted. The rules those silly hill-people live by.

Anyway, entertainment grade: C+
Gimp grade: D+ (maybe higher if you are a fan of either of the Kelsey girls).

I've seen The Hamiltons; not a bad movie while you're watching it but instantly forgettable afterward, IMO. Like you said, lots of bondage but nothing that really rang my bell.

Lake Dead, on the other hand, I've never even heard of until you reviewed it. Sounds like the type of film I would be cussing out my TV over all the potential that went for naught. Why does it always have to be gore and dismemberment? You can still torture someone without driving stakes through their bodies. I'm beginning to think the real in-bred wackos aren't the ones in the movie, they're the writer and director behind the scenes.

Cannon: Can you confirm the title of that barbed wire bondage movie you mentioned? I looked for it but the IMDB doesn't seem to have it under that title. I like barbed wire as a bondage torture device, and you don't see it used that often (although Amber gets bound in barbed wire in Goon Squad 2...caps tomorrow).

Jane, what's going on with this?

cannon: I haven't seen the Erotic Perversions loops so I can't say for sure if they're the same. The tape I'm talking about was all home videos. It wasn't shot for commercial release, they were just him playing with friends. Blakemore was in every scene. Sometimes just with a blond woman I think is his wife and sometimes with another man and woman. One scene had one of the women he photographed for HOM but I don't remember which woman. Other than her I don't remember anyone else in the tape that had been shot for HOM. Ralphus will have to ask him to know for sure.

Ralphus: As I was telling cannon above, the tape wasn't his "work", it was home movies shot for fun. Some of it was shot in what was probably his house. The rest was in an industrial looking building that looks a lot like the location where some of the HOM videos were shot. I did make a copy for myself but I haven't seen it in years. And no, I won't release anything off it, only Blakemore has the right to do that.

The movie begins with Jane entering the warehouse where she is quickly (and not very realistically) overpowered. She is rendered unconscious through use of a choke hold and is transported to another room. Still fully clothed, she is handcuffed and then pulled off the floor and placed in a chair. (A side note, Jane spends a lot of time losing consciousness in the movie, through beating, choking, whipping, etc. If an Academy Award was given to best unconscious performance, she would get my vote hands down - she just looks great while laying there, provocatively posed and helpless - as I said earlier, I am a big fan of Jane's) Jane is tied to the chair, the ropes rather loosely applied, some slapping occurs, to bring her to consciousness, and then just to torment her. Our villain (hero?) then begins to cut off her clothing, her dress ending up around her waist. There is some dialogue, then Jan leaves Jane to struggle futilely in the chair. To this point the movie has been fairly slow moving, but the pace begins to quicken as Jan returns. Some more slapping and then a couple of punches, the last of which renders our heroine unconscious. She is untied and lowered to the floor and a table is brought in.

Breaking the flow of the plot for a moment, after all, it is my review, once Jane's clothing starts to come off, the movie automatically improves. She quite simply has a killer body, and as far as I can tell, everything about her is real and unenhanced - a plus as far as I am concerned. I think she has looked good in her other movies, but here, she is at another level.

Anyway, she is tied to the table, legs extending over the end, and the legs still nylon clad. The rope is looped up to the head of the table, looped once around her neck, fairly tightly, secured to the other side and then looped again over her, this time more loosely. Once secured, her panties are cut off, and used to gag her, the loose rope tightens over her mouth to hold in the gag. Then comes an electrocution scene. Wires are attached with tape to her temples, her breasts and the inside of her thighs. Interesting to note, by this time, Jane's nipples have become more aroused, an apparent involuntary reaction to what is happening. It's a small thing, but I found it interesting.

Anyway, Jan begins to shock Jane and you are treated to repeated scenes of her arching her body in response to the torture, an act which increases the pressure on the rope wrapped around her neck. Eventually, Jan removes the gag from Jan's mouth, repositions her on the table and begins to rape her. You don't see any actual penetration, but it looked real enough to fool me, if it wasn't actually happening. While he is raping her, he is using the remains of the dress, which is still wrapped around her waist to pull her toward him. During the rape, pressure is increased on the rope still wrapped around her neck, and, surprise - she passes out again. Let me be clear, that is not a complaint, she passes out a lot in this movie, and I enjoyed each and every time.

Once Jan is done raping the poor Jane, he removes her nylons, exposing even more of her lovely body. She is lowered to the floor, still unconscious and he removes the remainder of her clothing. For the remainder of the movie we get to see Jane is all her natural glory.

Next, we see the first protracted whipping scene, as Jane has restraints applied to her wrists and is hung with her arms apart and over her head. The whipping is confined to her back, and she ends up suitably marked. My only complaint about the scene is I enjoy looking at her breasts more than her back. Finally, Jane - yes, passes out and we move to the next torment, water torture.

Jane is hung upside down on a homemade ladder, her legs looped over the top rung, and her wrists connected by short chains to her ankles, locking her in place. Instead of lowering her head into a bucket of water, as happened to Lisa Kinkaid in SOB, Jan raises the bucket to her head, until she is submerged in the bucket, this is done repeatedly, until poor Jane - yes, she passes out again. We are then treated to a number of minutes of her hanging in a loose hogtie on the ladder while she remains unconscious. The thing is, she looks so good, you really don't mind that nothing is happening, except you get the opportunity for an extended great view of her lovely body. (Okay, at this point, I am probably not sounding very objective) Our lovely, tormented agent is then tied, AOH to a post, arms and legs both connected to spreader bars. The position leaves her toes just barely touching the floor, or slighted off the floor for the remainder of the scene. This is the second whipping scene, this time focusing of her breasts and stomach. Due to my personal preferences, I enjoyed this whipping more than the first one. Jane is once again whipped and suitably marked, until she - - .

I bet you can guess.

We are now ready for the final scene. She is dragged unconscious to a wall and hung with her arms together, over her head. Our tormentor shows her the spikes which he will impale her with. First, her feet are nailed onto the top of two small round stumps, then her hands are nailed to the wall, leaving her spread out in an extended "X". The remainder of the movie shows Jane suffering on the wall, and at one point Jan comes in and probes her body with another spike, drawing blood in her side and the sides of both breasts. At this point, her fate is sealed, and we spend the rest of the movie watching her suffer, and ultimately die. I believe Jane dies in more movies than Bill Holden.

That is the physical description of the movie, as far as my rating of it, as I mentioned in the beginning, I feel Red Feline is still a work is progress, with tremendous potential. And I liked this the best of any of the ones I have seen. Jan still seems a little laid back as a torturer, but is getting better. As for Jane, she has never looked better, the thing I liked best about the movie was you got to see so much of her, the majority of the movie she was either nude, or verrrry scantily clad. There was some dialogue and some pleading with the villain, but for me, the best part is how Jane reacts. She also has an uncanny ability to strike a very erotic pose, whether she is awake and suffering or has lapsed into unconsciousness. The pace of the movie is somewhat slow,the scenes tend to go on too long, however, I enjoy watching Jane enough that was not necessarily a problem. The best part of the movie for me is watching Jane react to the torture, on that basis the I give the movie an A. As far as the overall effort, I would say a B or B-.

The lighting was still a little dark, but much better than 7 Days, and as I said I am a big fan of the "outdoor epic." The plot was adequate, I don't think anyone is watching this for the plot, and the effects - the whipping and nailing were very well done. The electrocution was okay, but then nothing can compare to the epic electrocution in Ralphus' own Blood Sucking Freaks. I also thought the rape scene was well done. Okay, that's my review, sorry if it was somewhat rambling. All in all, I think the people in this forum will enjoy the movie. And I look forward to Jane's next effort.

I bought the new Agent video, paid for it fine, went to My Movies, downloaded and installed FlickRocket (though I've downloaded dozens of other videos previously from many sites without problems) and started the download. I'm being told that my download time will range from 13-38 hours (pops all over the place). I hope, in the end of all this, I'll actually have the video on my hard drive and be able to watch as desired (without "buffering").

Falstaff - Thanks for the review of Agent X! I'm glad you liked my performance. About the sex, yes it was real. We talked about it, JJ was going to fake it, and then at the last moment... well, he couldn't contain himself, so it happened. That added to the subtext because I was actually pissed that he diverted from our plan without telling me beforehand. For the record, the only thing that has been surgically enhanced on my body is that I had a mole removed from my face last December; lighting does a great deal to enhance attributes. I put a lot of effort into this movie. Well, I always put a great deal of effort into my performances, but I feel that each movie is an opportunity to improve and delve deeper into the experience of the victim. I have big plans for our next production.

petelobo - I think that the download speed largely depends on your internet connection, or so fans have told me. Keep in mind that it's a large file that once downloaded can be watched as much as you please and burned to a DVD to be watched on your dvd player. I hope you like it!

Not much on Gimp, but still a very entertaining horror flick. Very stylishly filmed and the lighting/color palette give a very creepy feel. Worthwhile view for horror fans that can put up with sub-titles.

Another foreign language horror flick that's not bad is the German Anatomy. It has a small Gimp scene that's really nothing to speak of. The star, Franka Potente ( http://www.kinoweb.de/film2000/Anatomie/pix/an05_L.jpg ), has her ankles and wrists tied while lying on a autopsy table.

What I like about this one is the dialog. Its real smart-ass and humorous in nature while still not breaking from the overall serious mood and real life feel of the movie. Smart-ass but not cheesy like the dialog as, let's say, Freddie Krueger. At least that's how it is with English dubbed in (the sub-titles were too small in this one so I had to switch language).

And although off-topic, as no Gimpage in this one, but another good foreign language horror flick is the French "The Brotherhood of the Wolf".

What isn't shown is a longer scene where one of the brothers uses the lever to 'tighten' the wire. I'm not going to go through a description of what happens in this video. That has already been nicely covered in the review by Falstaff. Instead, I'll comment on Agent X as it demonstrates what I find good and not-so-good in Red Feline productions.

First and foremost, what is good...and has always been good...has been JJ's ability to select and involve women in his fantasies: From Camille through Jane, these are natural girl-next-door types, no surgery, no tattoos, no shaving. They have marvelous natural bodies, if not model faces, at least pretty faces that would turn your head on the street, and they all suffer spectacularly. Jane may well be the best of all, though she also benefits from the slow movement toward actually lighting the scenes so they can be seen, addition of sound, etc.

What is also a strength (or weakness) of the Red Feline films is that they are inclusive. If your taste is seeing people tied (albeit not so tight), or partially clothed or fully nude, sweating, whipping (front or back), ripping off clothes, tattered clothes, electric, candles, mud, nailing, crucifixion, even a little choking and breath play, you'll find your few minutes in the film. You may find yourself, as I did, running fast forward through scenes to get to the electro and frontal whipping and standing spread-eagle scenes...but you know that others who buy the movie will be fast forwarding through those to watch the ones you skipped.

In Agent X, Jane is spectacular. It's hard not to want to hop up on the screen and elbow JJ out of the way so you can take over and do to her what you'd like to do. You don't question that she is suffering, but you also see in her eyes that she likes to suffer without making it consensual. A couple notes I would give to her if I were directing: First, there is generally a lack of struggling in these performances. There is reaction to the pain, great writhing and dancing...even a few kicks in the direction of the whipper here and there...but I imagine a woman in the positions she is placed in not just lying there so docilely. There is no real fear in her eyes showing the recognition of her helplessness, there is no real attempt to pull free, to save herself in some way from what she imagines may be coming. That diminishes the dominance of the guy we are all identifying with.

Second, as anyone who has even been shocked knows, there is no way to remain silent or just rigid as Jane does in the electro scene in Agent X. There is an involuntary sound that comes from you and the body doesn't just tense, it bucks. There is a great scene from some Japanese video on the Internet of a girl being electro-tortured on a gyno table which should be required watching for actresses undertaking such a scene.

Agent X is the first sound video I've seen from Red Feline, and the sound does help (though we really don't need it for the silly and almost inaudible dialogue.) It's there to hear the reactions of Jane, and her moans and groans are realistic and exciting. I can't help but wish, though, for a bit more screaming, pleading. This woman is going through some very intense stuff. In fact that touches on another point that I would love to see as continued improvement. The level of emotional intensity in these videos tend to be pretty flat. JJ, as has been commented before, is a rather disinterested, almost mechanical torturer. But worse, the level of emotional response on the part of the victim never quite gets off the ground.

All in all, though, I would finish talking about the Red Feline group, whose work I hope to see (and support) in its continued growth, may well make THIS the golden age of BDSM. The best of HOM, which I'm old enough to recall the first time around, and the best of Rick Masters are in the league with the best of Red Feline. And the latter group is still active and still growing. More than that, the driving force in their current incarnation, Jane herself, is actively listening to and responding to the marketplace as represented at least here. We need to support the efforts of this exceptional group with our money and our thoughts.

A guy at Brians Page found a scene or two of interest in a telenovela. Most of the scenes just involved a handful of hot Latinas chained up "semi" AOH and tormented. Unfortunately they do not get the jumper cables placed on them as is threatened but in the clip above, they are forced to see a snuff vid (we only see snippets) of another girl who is getting snuffed. The girls tied up are in peril, but unfortunately not mercilessly (damn telenovela cops!)

With that fro... I think it would be more like Gene Shalit wouldn't it? ;-)

Another thing I don't think I saw here was a link to Inquisition World. This site is a bit expensive but you can download those German inquisition (medieval and modern) videos. There are a bunch of very realistic rack, AOH whipping, branding, needle torture sand other scenes. The video quality is VHS-like at times but the action seems pretty real. One of the AOH whipping scenes lasts like 20 minutes and you can see the model's hands are red from the pressure the ropes puts on her wrists.

It appears that "baby face" actually did rape the girl while she was bent over the table, as she's several months pregnant in this scene. Alexa comes in, Serina looks bad, full spread eagled to the bed and pregnant. Alexa says, "She has something for the baby" and sets the baby face mask next to Serina. Serina struggles nicely and screams her head off. Resume end credits as the sequel has been properly set up...

My favorite part is when babyface has Serina bent over the table getting ready to rape her. She tries to "psych him out" by singing "hush little baby". The killer has this baby face doll mask on, with his skeletal jaw jutting from beneath, and an alphabet block necklace and tends to act child like... so this seems reasonable for her to try. In fact, Babyface seems to respond to it... stroking her hair, bobbing his head as if intrigued. That is until she forgets the rest of the song. "I, um... don't remember all the words..."

Then, in Babyface's only line in the entire movie, he looks her in right in the eyes, and deadpans in the most normal sounding voice, "You can keep singing if it'll make you feel better."

Her eyes go wide and she screams her head off, and Babyface slams the door shut. (essentially cutting us out of the rape) Cut scene. Bravo. The "child like" killer ain't so child like.

All in all, not sure I'd spend too much time tracking it down, although as a fellow fan of barbed wire, the few lingering shots of our chair bound heroine worked very well as a slow motion scene on my highlight reel.

You hear stories of people tied to narrow boards with barbed wire. Any movement will cause pain/injury. If the victim is simply left there, and she moves from cramps, restlessness, or struggling, she has only herself to blame. Oh, and by the way, along with being wrapped tightly in barbed wire, I'm totally naked too. Oops, did I say that was me? I meant some hypothetical girl, poor thing.

Although I haven't seen the movie yet, I have to believe the dialogue is an important improvement in the Red Feline movies. Whether the dialogue is believable or not, the absence of dialogue clearly isn't believable. I will keep my expectations in check when I get around to renting this film but at this point I'm still pretty interested in this movie.

Regarding today's barbed wire photo - it hasn't been a big 'fantasy' of mine, mostly because in real life it would get very messy (and probably fairly fatal) far too quickly, but the shot today is a wonderful fake of it - very realistic, and shows off the 'nice' aspect (bondage taken to its extreme), without the 'bad' side of it (excessive blood).

Re Blakemore - I've followed this all with a lot of interest, and can't wait for the publication of the interview when Ralphus has done it.

I also had a question for you all: Who is your favorite movie villain? And why? Mine is Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet, because he's so decadent and drugged out and scary... he portrays a character that is so over the top that in another actor's hands it simply would have been over-acted and theatrical. Perhaps this had something to do with his tremendous abuse of cocaine, but whatever... he's awesome.

Favorite Villian? In Gimp or mainstream Gimp the villains are pretty much cookie-cutter. In straight Gimp there is no time for character development so almost without exception, the villains are pretty bland.

In mainstream Gimp the villains again are pretty cookie-cutter. Either dumb-ass hill folk or schizoids who talk to themselves or talk to religious or occult statues or symbols. Almost all are pretty unmemorable.

I do have three I list as favorite villains (though non-Gimp). The first is Tim Roth in "Rob Roy". He plays an enforcer-like character to the Marquis of Montrose. He moves and flits about in a manner similar to Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). He is slight in build so in competitions of swordsmanship he is not taken seriously by his competition. But in the way of the sword he is unmatched. He makes his opponent look stupid as he showboats to the crowd, taking bows and moving about in almost a gay manner...infuriating his opponents.

He pretty much is totally unfeeling and uncaring...especially with the ladies. There is one scene where a maid tell him she's pregnant, to which his response is, it's pretty much hers alone if she wants to keep it. She tells him "But I love you Archie" to which he replies "Love is but a dung heap and I am the rooster who climbs upon it to crow." She breaks down in tears and as she pounds on his chest, to which he just calmly moves her out of the way to go about his business.

He later rapes Jessica Lange to add fuel to the fire as he searches for Rob Roy (Liam Neeson).

Excellent movie with probably my favorite all time villain. A must see as I rate this in my top 25 best movies. BTW, Tim Roth was Oscar nominated for this role.

The other villain I really liked was in "Silence of the Lambs" since he was so creepy. "It puts the lotion on it's skin." And mimicking the victim as she screams but pulling on his collar and doing the same.

Myself and a few co-workers used to reenact this scene from time to time. Just out of the blue, either myself or my buddies in the middle of work, would stick their finger in their collar, pull it down and twist it, lean forward, then go AAAAAAAYYYY...AAAAYYYYY. Anyone who witnessed must have thought we were nuts. But we had a good time.

The third is Andy Garcia in "8 Million Ways to Die". This was early in his career and people were just beginning to notice what a great actor he is. I like him in this because he was just so intense in it as an L.A. drug lord.

I think the best GIMP villain I've seen was the Nazi lieutenant in SS Hell Camp 5. I never got his name so I just referred to him as Lt. Nasty in my review (see URL).

Why? In a short space of time within the movie, this guy chained up and tortured four female inmates to death, using a wide variety of methods: whipping, electrocution, blowtorch, pulling out fingernails, spiked brass knuckles and a skull-crushing vise. He does it all with great gusto, mean dialogue and energy, and right after that, he rapes another inmate just because he happened to pass by her cell. This guy was bad to the bone!

For bondage productions, it's easily Ernie (Bryan Dunhill) in "Cheerleaders of Perilous U." His smooth transitions from nerd to comedian (at the expense of Chandra Sweet) to psychopath were excellent.

For mainstream movies (with GIMP elements), I liked Malcolm McDowell as Alex in "A Clockwork Orange." Jane, you can sing the Flash Gordon song at breakfast but I'll belt out "I'm Singing in the Rain."

Special mention goes to Ralphus (Luis De Jesus) and Sardu (Seamus O'Brien) in "Bloodsucking Freaks," two villains who really loved their work and had some great lines.

And since I'm an equal-opportunity type of guy, I'll also mention Dyanne Thorne in "Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS." Has there ever been a more evil and sadistic woman in film?

For non-GIMP movies, my favorite villain is Steve Buscemi as Carl Showalter in "Fargo." Everything he said in the movie made me laugh. And he had a bit of a ruthless streak.

Honorable mention goes to Michael Madsen in "Reservoir Dogs" and Anthony Perkins in "Psycho."

As far as regular movie villians, I'd go with one Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of SPECTRE in the early James Bond movies. Utterly ruthless, cold, and intolerant of failure amongst his underlings-the penalty for failure is death-and a horribly painful one at that. He's tied for first with Lord Darth Vader. I mean, a man so ruthless and dark that not only does he lop off his son's right hand with a lightsaber blade, but tortures his own daughter (Leia being his daughter was unknown to him at the time). And both Blofeld and Vader share the same attitude towards failure: you don't survive to make a second mistake-Vader doesn't hesitate to crush someone's throat if necessary.

Then there's the villian you actually like-even though you do want him dead. Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is that kind of guy. Remember his line: "Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans. No more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas!

After a layoff of 3 years with no new ZFX material, a newly-energized Rick Masters is now back with his second new release in less than 4 months, with the sequel Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts. This continues the story of covert government operatives out to rid society of suspected terrorists. And since all the terrorists they suspect just happen to be attractive young women, it no doubt makes their jobs a whole lot more enjoyable.

After a 12-minute recap of Part 1, Part 2 begins with the pretty redheaded coed, played by Amber Bliss, already tied down to a mattress on the floor. Her legs are spread apart at the knees, and her wrists are bound behind her and knotted off to a pulley on the ceiling. Minutes earlier, she had been brutally shocked into giving up the name of her best friend to the government goon squad and her interrogation is now continuing. Well, not so much an interrogation session, but more of a "let's have fun with the prisoner" type of session. Amber has been blindfolded, ballgagged and is wearing headphones for extra sensory deprivation. Her captor (Jesse Keddings) reddens her ass with several well-placed smacks to her posterior as she wails into her gag.

Then his boss (again played by director Rick Masters) takes over and wastes no time having his own fun with Amber's prone body, taking her from behind in the pussy, then pulling out only to continue the rape up her ass. Amber does a great job of emoting here, even though it would have been more enjoyable to have seen her eyes as she's being abused and violated. Masters exits, leaving the bound girl alone with cum oozing out the crack of her ass.

But her torment continues. With the headphones and blindfold gone but still ballgagged, Amber is next seen tied with arms overhead and her legs bound far apart, so that she resembles an upside-down Y. A thick black dildo mounted on a pole is shoved inside of her, impaling her on the pole. I don't know if this was an intentional visual joke on Masters' part, since she plays a peace activist, but in this position she now resembles the inside of a peace sign. Put a circle around her and she's a dead ringer.

Anyway, with her now securely impaled, Keddings walks behind her and picks up... a blow torch! Amber's eyes widen and she frantically writhes and screams through her gag as she watches him heat up a metal screwdriver over the blue-hot flame. With an evil cackle, he repeatedly touches the hot metal over and over onto her bare skin, and with a smoky sizzle, red marks are criss-crossed over her breasts, stomach and pussy. This is a particularly effective illusion, one of the best scenes of the movie.

After that harsh treatment, her torturers aren't letting up. When we see her next, Amber is bound kneeling to a wooden platform on the floor. Her body has been wrapped in yards and yards of barbed wire. Ouch! There's not any blood except to her mouth where it's been wound around her head as a makeshift gag. We get a minute or so to admire the ropework (wirework?) before Keddings returns to give her several electric jolts with his cattle prod. For the most part, Amber screams loudly and effectively, although there's a few times when he touches the prod to her and she doesn't react much at all, which kind of gives away that this is faked. Overall, though, a fun scene. I was laughing at every blood-curling scream.

Now done with their prisoner, Amber is left alone in the dark, naked and bound inside a large, open-ended wooden crate. The headphones and blindfold have been replaced, and her mouth is now gagged with duct tape. With nasty red marks now adorning her skin, she can only weep helplessly knowing that her friend will be next, and that she was the one responsible for giving them her name.

Next, we have a flashback to 6 months earlier which introduces Amber's friend, played by seemingly everybody's favorite ZFX performer, Lisa Kinkaid. She is later attacked while sleeping (in the nude) and transported to the government warehouse for questioning, now fully clothed. No explanation for the clothing continuity problems other than these scenes were literally filmed years apart.

Lisa is brought in chained, blindfolded and her mouth is filled with a strap gag, and, like Amber, she is wearing headphones to cut off sound. After securing her in a standing position by chaining her neck to a beam on the ceiling, Masters proceeds to slowly strip her, and at one point, he puts on rubber gloves and decides to give her a cavity search for hidden weapons (yeah, that's a good excuse). While it's technically not a bad scene, it's overly long (nearly 20 minutes) and deadens the pace of what had been a fairly entertaining film up to that time.

This is followed by another lengthy interrogation scene where Keddings gives Lisa, still bound standing in the same position, a vigorous beating with a rubber hose. Even though it should have been fun, the scene came across to me as repetitive. Keddings' performance was overly mechanical and it was obvious that the red marks that appeared on Lisa's skin were red makeup smeared across the hose he was using to beat her with. The illusion didn't quite work for me.

The next time we see Lisa, she's still in the same position and supposedly 6 hours have passed. Masters returns and takes off her gag to see if she's talking yet. She's not, so he decides to give her some electric anal prod torture. Unhooking her from the ceiling, he makes her bend down on the floor and an overly long butt plug with several rounded protuberances along its base is then painfully shoved up her ass. It's again done with special effects, since no human being could ever take a device that massive up her rectum. Masters ties it off inside of her.

After hoisting her arms over her head, Masters grabs the control device to the electrical anal probe and patiently tells her to confess or he'll hurt her. Lisa, of course, is innocent and knows nothing so she gets shocked periodically several times. Finally, Masters tires of her noncompliance, so he sits down, switches on the power and lets the current finish the job. Lisa spasms so hard she loses control of her bladder, spraying pee down her legs before passing out. This is a generally well-done scene, marred only by a lack of camera angles, a somewhat leisurely pace and excessive padding.

The movie concludes with a diabolical set-piece that only ZFX could pull off. Lisa is now strapped down to an operating table, her mouth gagged with a huge wad of sponge stuffed into her mouth. Wire is wrapped around her tits and her nipples are wired up as well. Her legs are spread apart at the sides of the table and her hands are tied together over her head and chained to the other end. There is an opening below the table where her interrogator can have access to her ass. That's important because of what happens next.

A huge, nasty-looking plug with a tube attached to it is then shoved deep up inside her ass as Lisa lets out a groan. A pump is turned on which forces red hot pepper sauce up into her anal cavity (I told you this was diabolical). Then a needle filled with truth serum is injected right onto her clit and taped in place. And to make matters worse, an electrical probe is inserted right into her pussy and tied so it stays inside of her.

At this point, all it takes is a flick of the switch and Lisa is tortured with electrical current to her tits, pussy and ass, all the while suffering the painful effects of the hot sauce enema. She suffers greatly and director Masters covers all the angles we want to see of Lisa's spasmic undulations. When she can take no more and passes out, a torrent of hot sauce comes flooding out of her ass. It's a satisfying end to what may be the final live-action release from ZFX.

With nearly a 2-hour running time, there are lots of scenes in this, some quite good, others not quite as effective. Lisa Kinkaid fans will be happy to see her return, but overall, once again, it's the scenes with Amber Bliss that are more successful. The original Goon Squad with just Amber was a more fun ride than the sequel with the Amber/Lisa duo. Still, there's plenty of good material here to recommend this one.

Think of an old rock band that gets together for one last gig. They can still play the instruments, they still know the songs, they still look kinda hip ... yet somehow it just doesn't work. The magic isn't there anymore. They ain't got no soul.

Watching that band go through the motions would pretty much capture the feeling I had watching Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts.. Yes, it is a new ZFX movie, with lots of bondage and torture, a nice rape, and beautiful Lisa Kinkaid. Everything that used to be the perfect combo. Yet, somehow, they just couldn't pull it off.

Much as I hate to say it, Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts is a slow, plodding movie that mostly reminds viewers of scenes that were done much better in other ZFX films. The movie is too long, unoriginal, and generally boring.

The story is about some government goons torturing two hippie chicks, Amber Bliss and Lisa. In his official Ralphus Review, Ralphus has already described the plot, so I'll skip the long descriptions of each scene (as perverts throughout the world breathe a sigh of relief) and focus on my top-level observations.

Surprisingly, the best scenes feature the average-looking Amber Bliss. The part where Amber was bound in barbed wire was an original touch (at least in American porn) and the scene where Amber is raped by Rick Masters was particularly well done. I'm no fan of Amber, but people who like her distinct look will probably enjoy her scenes in this movie.

The disappointment comes when we get to the long-awaited footage of that great American beauty, Ms. Kinkaid.

Her part in the film runs something like one hour and 15 minutes, and it feels at least that long. Although Lisa's segment runs for about the same length of time as the entire South of the Border 4 movie (not counting previous highlights), there are only about four scenes in that entire stretch in Goon Squad 2, and each scene should have been cut shorter. The part where naked Lisa (wearing a neck collar that is bound to the roof) gets beaten with a rubber hose has its moments, but it drags on forever, and is far less effective than a similar scene in SOB-4. The scene where Lisa is bound arms over head and is receiving electric shocks up her ass through an anal probe is the best part of the movie, but it also goes on far too long. Meanwhile, the part where Lisa is tied to the operating table and gets electric shocks is OK but nothing special.

Lisa looks beautiful, of course. I particularly like her with the longer hair style she sports in this movie. But her scenes can't compete with comparable moments from her past triumphs, and aren't particularly arousing.

The picture quality in this film is quite good but there are serious problems with the audio (some scenes are barely audible), and some of the acting is below par. Jesse Keddings, in particular, proves to be beyond his reach here. He basically resurrects his character from some of the South of the Border films but his routine ("Tell me what I wanna know") becomes unconvincing in some of his lengthy scenes with Lisa. As a villain, he becomes annoying, rather than menacing. Rick is much better, but it is often hard to hear what he is saying.

Heck, even the movie's political statement -- an obvious swipe at the Bush government's attacks on civil liberties -- seems stale at this point in 2009.

My grade: B-

It is a new ZFX film -- possibly the last one -- and it does star Lisa Kinkaid, so it is probably worth seeing. But just barely. For the most part, Goon Squad 2: Patriot Acts is a film that suggests the ZFX era may truly be over.

A Canadian: I'm glad to share the limelight with you on this particular movie. Excellent review, and we're almost in complete agreement, which proves that not only am I right about this one, I've got you to back me up.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to point out the slow pace, which happened exactly once Amber left the movie and Lisa's segments began. Up until then, it had been a lively, entertaining show, and I think all of Amber's segments worked. Throughout his career, Rick has been guilty of occasionally letting certain scenes run on too long (although he's certainly not the only one. Heck, even our best mainstream director, Martin Scorsese does that). It's tempting, I'm sure, when you have extra footage to want to put everything in, but at times you have to stand back and say, okay, that's enough. Even the final segment on the operating table with the hot sauce, which was probably the best scene in the movie, could have been trimmed a bit.

I also had problems with Jesse Keddings, only in that one scene, though. I agree, a bit annoying. But to be fair, I think he's done a great job in all his other appearance for ZFX. Everyone can have an off-scene. I would have liked to have seen Jon O'Brien come back for this one, since he was in the first movie. That's a very underrated actor, always plays a great villain.

I'm not sure why people seem to be having problems with the audio. In some shots it seemed louder than others, but I never had a problem hearing any dialogue (or any screaming).

Your grade of B- is fair. I was borderline on giving it the same grade before I settled on a B. My reason is there's plenty of good footage here, and at nearly 2 hours, you get your money's worth. But I probably would have given it the same grade until the final scene pushed it over the top.

As for the ZFX era being over, I certainly hope not. It's not his best work, but I would love to see more films as good as this one. Who else makes nonconsensual fantasies that work as well as ZFX? Maybe the Japanese, but in this country, he has no equal. If it's true that he's planning to make a computer-animated film next, I hope he returns to making live action stuff when he gets that out of his system. He's still got lots of good ideas that we haven't seen yet.

Favorite villain, part 2: I'd also like to give an honorable mention to the fellow who presided over one of the most memorable dungeon scenes in mainstream movie history (and a very popular clip on YouTied as well) - the Lord High Constable in Poor Cecily. Here's a guy for whom torture is not just an adventure, but a job, and he approaches his work with a kind of sneering but professional attitude. I especially liked the peevish tone in his voice when he says to one victim on the rack, "Well, are you going to confess to being a witch, or NOT?" He's got a long line of victims waiting, and he wants to get on with it. And a fist bump to his assistant, the eye-patched cretin who swings a whip with enthusiasm.

"True Romance" also had a second, and IMO, even better villain than the Christopher Walken character, Drexel played by Gary Oldman was classic! True he dies in it but the way he played the character is unmatched. This one would be higher in the all-time villain rankings if not for it being a very short segment of the film.

And specking of Gary Oldman, don't forget the corrupt cop he played in "Leon, the Professional". Classic!

The company is called Night Frights and the clip is called South American Spy (see URL) . Not too much in the way of description, and I can't tell for sure, but it looks like there might be an electro scene in this one for all of you who are into that.

Now if we can just get a guinea pig to check it out and let us know if there is anything worthwhile here (or potential). ;-)

I would never expect my blathering from north of the border to take the limelight away from an official Ralphus Review. I did decide to ride your coattails in this particular case, but that's only because I haven't seen much lately that's been review-worthy and I don't want to miss my annual quota.

I'm sure when this year began, no one would have expected us to agree that a movie with Lisa Kinkaid and Amber Bliss would be stronger during the Amber sections. I guess it just shows you should always be open to new possibilities.

As for the end of the ZFX era, I certainly may be wrong. Only Rick knows for sure whether he still has his mojo or whether he is content with his legacy. Either way, his place in Pervert Heaven is secure.

Not that anyone asked, but I would guess it would cost about $60 to buy the movie within Canada, assuming you can find a store that sells it. To obtain a mail order copy within Canada, the cost may be closer to $80.

Canadians can always order from sites such as Video Mayhem and CD Universe but there is a risk the film could be nabbed at the border by Customs officers. If any Canadians are considering that option, I would recommend ordering from Video Mayhem. The cost is about the same and Video Mayhem does a better job packaging your order so that it will get through Customs.

Candian - is there IP monitoring that prevents downloading from sites like that?

Japanese discs are also easy to get in Canada these days. Right now, the only films I watch online are the Red Feline movies. According to Jane, Red Feline has been pretty successful at getting its movies across the border. But I like the quality of the films I have seen online so, at this point, I haven't seen any reason to take the risk.

What a great review on "Goon Squad 2" - another chance to gaze upon the lovely and gracious Lisa Kinkaid finally - that alone makes it a worthwhile pick-up - thanks to Ralphus and A Canadian.

Jane's first mention of Dennis Hopper in "Blue Velvet" has to rank high on the chart - one of the great over-the-top film performances ever - shame his psychotic behavior wasn't more directed toward the fairer sex - still, any movie that begins with the protagonist stumbling across a severed human ear in an empty field has merit.

So allow me to submit a few entries - of late my fave has to be Bill Moseley in "House of 1000 Corpses" - and I'll roll with Brutus on his selections of Dunhill and Malcolm for nostalgic purposes.

As I have a special fondness for witch torture/inquisition flicks, I would nominate Herbert Lom in "Mark of the Devil" as that guy who could impassively observe a tongue being ripped from the head without batting an eye - shame he couldn't function during his rape attempt on Ingeborg Schoener - and a special mention to Vincent Price as Matthew Hopkins in "Witchfinder General" - possibly the only time in his long career where he didn't chew up the scenery and managed to turn in a subdued and still creepy performance.

And last but not least a mention goes out to David Hess in "Last House on the Left" - didn't particularly care for the movie on the whole but must give him kudos for playing one of the most vile, despicable villains of all time.

The real coup of this movie was getting Lisa and Amber to both to come back in 2008 to shoot the dorm room flashback scene. It really helped tie the movie together and actually getting these two gals together was great fun.

That definitely was a real coup. It shocked me when I saw the trailer earlier this year and realized Lisa had shot some new material, as I had suspected Lisa left the scene some time ago.

Although we've spent the last few years discussing Lisa's status -- retired, semi-retired, on standby, whatever -- it is still jarring to have it officially confirmed that we will never again see her in original material. I feel a bit sad, although no one can deny she had a tremendous run. I don't know that the message would ever get to her but I certainly wish her all the best.

Yesterday's still from the latest ZFX video had that great gag closeup. It looks like a terrific gag, mouthfilling and chewy looking. I will be picking that one up.

I guess my question is...why will we not be seeing them again for ZFX? Is it that you asked and they turned you down, or, the more likely scenario, you're not planning on doing any more live-action movies? Because if you were, the logical money says you would go with your old standby, the always reliable Lisa, the girl who made more movies with ZFX than any other. Or else you would go with Amber, your newest star, a very capable actress who proved she can do solid work and can even carry a movie by herself. The fact that you're saying that we won't see either of them tells me you're planning to quit making movies, at least for a while. Am I right?

Like I stated before, if you want to take a break after over 2 decades of making the best bondage films on this side of Japan to work on a pet project, you've certainly earned the time off. I know retirement sounds like a fun plan, and you're not even 50 yet so you have lots of time to enjoy it. But you can't keep an artist down. I'm hoping you haven't lost your will to be creative and can give it another go afterward. Certainly, the idea of a world with no more ZFX is not a pleasant thought. We still need you. Favorite villain: I've been giving this some thought. In bondage films, it would have to be Bryan Dunhill, ZFX's best and most colorful bad guy. From the nerd with a sadistic edge in The Cheerleaders of Perilous U. to the Italian wise guy in The Reporter, he was about as entertaining as anyone I've ever seen at dishing out the punishment, and his joy in performance was infectious. You could tell he was having a great time and it was hard not to smile along with him while he was torturing whatever bound beauty was in his clutches.

In a mainstream movie, my vote is the same as Brutus and Rick. Gotta be Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange. That was THE film that first did it for me (I think I was 16 or 17 when I saw it the first time), and I can't think of any one performance that could possibly top the character he played in that film. Alex is a classic.

DHT - never saw that Letterman show but knowing "Spine" as I do I can see how there would be a resemblance - and their respective acting abilities are about on par - did see "Devil of Blue Mountain" - thought it to be a pretty fair concept with abysmal execution - nothing but a few good screen shots, almost nothing even for compilation material - shame as the chicks were very easy on the eyes.

Ralphus - I find your analysis of the Rick/ZFX situation to be, unfortunately, probably so - let's hope the creative juices flow again soon.

Not a specific character from mainstream movies, but a specific actor comes to mind whom I would consider the perfect "villain-actor". The late Oliver Reed in his latter years. This actor had a tremendously threatening screen presence. Especially in the late eighties and early nineties he was typecast in low-budget action movies as the villain.

I believe his sleaziest villain was the sadistic gangster Jake Fisher in "The Revenger" (1989). Fisher believes that the hero of this piece (Zagarino) has stolen a rather large amount of money from him. In fact, it was "The Mummy" Arnold Voslo who took it. Since Voslo is dead and Zagarino will not hand over the cash (he has no clue whatsoever where the money is), Fisher kidnaps Zagarino´s wife (blond Nancy Rulford) and ties her to a chair in his bedroom. While watching a porn flick on his VCR he rapes her while being tied to that chair. No nudity, but still a nice rape scene that would make this B-movie worth checking out.

Oh, and let us not forget his role as the evil warlord Sarm in the abysmal fantasy-flick "Gor" (1989). "Find the man who killed my son. And until he is found one hundred men, women and children are to be tortured!"

Ralphus and A Canadian: You know one of the things I love about this forum? The total honesty in the reviews. Both commentaries were excellently written and very informative. I'm with YikYakker on this: I'm more disappointed than discouraged. I do think that if "Goon Squad 2" had not carried the ZFX label, it probably would have received higher grades. I think we hold Rick's work to a higher standard.

Ernest ~ I'd help you out...but I'm in the same boat you're in. I've been planning to purchase a DVD recorder as I guess that would be the easiest way to convert VHS.

I wasn't on planning to get involved in reguards to the question concerning copying VHS to DVD. However, I can't help but provide some tips. The best way is to use one of those set top DVD recorders that are now avaliable. I have one myself and although I use it primarily for recording TV shows to watch later, I do also use it to build compilations of my favorite GIMP material.

I suggest that you go out and see if you can find one of Panasonic's DMR series DVD recorders. Just use a standard RCA AV cable to connect the VCR's output jack to one of the DVD recorder's input jacks. Make sure the DVD Recorder's input setting is set for the jack that the RCA cable is plugged into as most of Panasonic's DVD recorders have two or more seperate input ports.

Ernest: I know it's a risk but if you would be willing to send it to me , I'll x'fer it for you and send some of mine along with the return mailing.

Unless you mean that other kind of DVD burning...in which case my method is sort of old-fashioned. I copy DVD's the same way I copied VHS tapes, with dubbing cables. You play your master on a VCR and record on a DVD burner, hooking them up by going Audio OUT to Audio IN, Video OUT to Video IN. I know there's ways to go through a computer and such, but I ain't educated enough to know that much. And I've never had a problem with the audio going out of sync.

LTL: That clip was hilarious! I've never heard of "Scare Tactics" (don't watch much TV) but that was a perfect stunt to pull on that chick. They really had her going!

This is a question directed to those who produce bondage videos who may be able to give me some tips.

How hard is it to produce bondage videos and how much do they typically cost? I've been a fan of the damsel in distress videos, and I have a lot of concepts that not only I'd like to see done but also feel others would enjoy as well. So I'm interested in getting into the business and give it a shot, but I'd like to get some information before I jump in, and I've been hard pressed to find any so far.

I know I could simply have my ideas done by current producers, but the average custom video is around $500, plus having someone else doing it, I figured I could make sure it's done the way I envision it and also make some money off it.

I am indeed working on an animated feature, but it is slow, time consuming work. I am not sure when it will be done, but I hope early next year.

Joaquin Phoenix and the Spine guy: Wow, that really is odd. Dead ringer! Has it ever been determined whether JP was actually insane, or just pulling everyone's leg in grand style? I heard he was working on a mockumentary and this bit was a part of it. One thing is for sure, it made for great TV!

On a side note, I am also working on my own music career and have also grown an enormous beard, though Joaquin has me beat by a few whiskers. And, no, I'm not kidding....=)

Ernest: One way is to use a capture card installed in your PC to capture the video from your VCR. There are oodles of cheap cards that can do the job at tigerdirect.com. You could then use a DVD burning program like Toast or Nero to encode the video to MPEG-2 (the format of DVD) and burn the disc. You would also need a DVD burner in your PC, these are pretty common these days, you probably already have one.

An alternate way is to get a set top DVD burner and just burn the disc directly. I'm not sure which way is more cost effective. The PC method takes a bit more know how but is more flexible as far as bit rate (quality) vs. Length. Hope this helps.

ZFX is definitely not going anywhere. I am certainly not retiring as an artist or filmmaker. Beyond that I am not going to even speculate other than to say all options are open.

Well, I'd say that's very good news! I don't think I'm as excited right now with the prospects of a computer animated bondage film as I would be with a live action one, but then again, I saw one that Dofantasy did called Slave Sisters and it was actually pretty damn incredible. The animation was quite sophisticated, and it had sync sound and realistic sound effects. And of course, you can do a lot with animation that you can't do with live action. The clip I saw was about 17 minutes long and it had to have taken them ages to complete even that portion. I can't imagine doing one like that with a feature-length running time, especially all by yourself. Good luck with your endeavors on that.

You know, if I remember correctly, before one of the recent elections, you were speculating about what might happen to ZFX if the Republicans won again. One of your ideas was to make horror-type movies with bondage themes. If you don't go back to making the normal ZFX fare, you should think about trying that, at least making one. With all the "torture porn" movies out there that continuously get it wrong by giving us weak bondage and overdosing on the blood while offering little or no female nudity, I would think you would know how to do it right. I'm sure you could teach today's filmmakers a thing or two about what we really want to see in horror films.

Had some chat some time back on a new title coming out, "The Torturer" with an award winning cast including Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek fame - now available at Asian Cult Cinema - too bad jhlipton is still on hiatus as there seems to be a nice bagging scene which might be to his liking.

I know we've talked about this before...but what's with all the male tortures? Is this the Gimp equivalent of affirmative action or what? I'm really starting to get sick of all this! I watched a few movies in the past week and a good percentage had these kind of scenes.

The first one 3 Steps To Heaven I can kinda understand 'cause it goes with the story (and I didn't know the victim turned out to be gay. What it was about as the description I read, was about a woman who's lover is found dead and becomes obsessed with revenge and finding out what happened to him). This one has a male victim hanging upside-down. So as it turned out, I can understand it in this one.

And once again, the victims who are still alive...are male. And in a train car full of upside-down nude victims, all you see are the guys. What's up with that?

She escapes and plots her revenge. And again, even though there are females to take out her revenge on, the only tied scene (besides the tree taping) is of one of the guys, spread-eagle and ball gagged.

Meanwhile, I'm also thinking of a bigger question (bigger by my standards only, of course). Is anyone besides me starting to wonder if the Japanese porn films are starting to lose their appeal?

I mostly judge these things by the Attackers releases and I have to say it's been a while since I've heard of any upcoming releases that I was really excited about. I've already publicly stated that the Slave Island series went flat some time ago -- really, after the end of the original series. But it's not just those movies. It seems to me the Attackers torture films that were most popular in these parts were released some time ago, and I find many of the rape movies and other films look more contrived these days.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical. But it sure seems GIMPers in general don't seem as enthusiastic about Japanese releases as we once were. Or is it just me?

I don't think it's a matter of me being jaded because I've already seen some of the most brutal and vile atrocities ever directed toward women on screen, most of them courtesy of those twisted Japanese, but I'm beginning to get bored with what I'm noticing from them, too.

You ever hear the statement that as one becomes desensitized to violent images that it takes stronger and stronger material to arouse them? I never used to believe that, but it might be happening to me in this case. Hung up naked and whipped? Seen it already. Needles through the tits? Been done before. Bondage rape? Candle wax? What fan of Japanese porn hasn't seen that a hundred times by now?

I'm not saying those things aren't exciting, but show me something I haven't seen before. What happened to the firecracker torture that Attackers implemented in a few of their films? That was new, that was exciting. How about when they set that girl's back on fire in Attackers JB-92? Never saw that before (or since).

Last week, I checked out the Attackers website and was shocked by what I saw. Attackers used to be the cutting edge in sadistic bondage porn, but recently, the quality has gone way down. Oh, occasionally we'll still see a Randa Mai whipfest, but looking at the pics, I'm noticing consensual action, or movies with little or no bondage at all. What the hell? What happened to the Attackers I used to know and love? If even the Japanese are toning their films down, what is there left?

LTL - saw "Midnight Meat Train" sometime back and couldn't agree with your assessment more - so many missed opportunities and male equal treatment again - was especially disappointed in the female protagonist demise near the end - thought that could have been played really well under the premise and they just fell down flat.

A Canadian - "Torture Witch Hunt Court" looks like a very nice entry - will you be viewing or leaving that to our host gnome - I certainly like the premise and the cover shot looks promising.

DHT - I've seen a couple of clips from "The Butcher" - not a gag in sight from what I saw - looked like a scream fest and I seem to recall more male equal treatment as well - those are some nice pics you put up from various efforts - think any will bear any resemblance to those shots - let us know when you find out.

Ralphus - I too have become quite jaded over the years as have most Gimpers, I suspect - but the problem is coming from Japan - in my last few orders from Video Mayhem I found I was getting sooooooo many with a semi or completely consensual - little resemblance to the cover art and not enough info in the description but that's not unique to VM - I have to think the Japanese are getting soft on torment - when we discussed "Golden Age" sometime back we were pretty much split on when and why - I still maintain that age was 70-80s as one could count on what one was getting - now, even with the obsessive Japanese, one can't take anything for granted - more research, more info, more Gimpers ready to take a chance - yeah, ain't simple no more.

It happened with our porn in the 70s, and it seems to be happening with hentai as well from what I've seen lately. Not a big surprise it'd happen with Japanese live action stuff as well. What the general population wants is tame vanilla stuff and if you really want to grow seriously I'm guess that's what you need to make in order to do so.

On the plus side, the Giga/Zen stuff, specifically Zen, seems to be heading in the opposite direction with increased numbers of titles featuring nudity and rape rather than just torture, but still plenty of torture. What's cool is they also seem to be growing, new movies about every week, now most all of their major titles subtitled in English, and they seem like they are hiring English voice actors to start English dubbing soon.

I personally never really got into Japanese stuff. A few years ago I took the plunge a p/u 3 DVD's but was kinda soured on them right away. What soured me was that most of the girls in the DVD's I ended up getting looked like they were 10 years old. They looked 10 years old. They had bodies like they were 10 years old. They sounded 10 years old. Hell, they could have been 10 years old for all I know...since I can't read Japanese.

Then there was this other one I remember, who I was sure I was going to see a dick as soon as her panties came off because she had such a bulge down there. It turned out the bulge was because she had a really stiff bush down there. It was kinda gross.

Anyway, I ended up dumping them all and haven't been back. I know they are not all like that but there is too much good stuff out there for me to want to try again (although Torture Witch Hunt Count looks interesting).

With Halloween right around the corner I've been watching a lot of horror flicks lately. So here are 2 horror/supernatural mainstream mini reviews. First up, a tragic teen love story... The Return of the Living Dead III http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1948935&style=movie .

Going back a little ways for one that many of you may have forgotten about, The Return of the Living Dead III is a story about military experiments on re-animation.

Curt and Julie (played by Mindy Clarke http://blog.mrskin.com/data/features/92/clarke-returnofthe-1.jpg ) are teen sweethearts, with Curt's father being a high ranking military officer at the research base. One evening Curt lifts his father's security card and the two teen sweethearts go exploring. They discover that the research at the base is experimentation with a gas that re-animates corpses.

After finding out that the father has been re-assigned, the 2 young lovers make plans to run away together. Tragically a fatal motorcycle crash ends their plans as Julie dies.

Remembering the secret research at the military base, he brings her there to hopefully bring her back to life.

Will the boy and ghoul find their happily ever-after?

The only real gimp scene comes towards the end as Mindy Clarke is chained, semi AOH and naked with a metal gag.

The scene is fairly short but none the less a fairly tasty one as Mindy Clarke makes a fine looking zombie. Or to borrow a slightly modified quote from Martin Chuzzlewit, "She'd make a lovely corpse."

With the local Sheriffs station about to shutdown for the winter, a blood-covered naked teenage boy walks into the office. He is questioned but says not a word. He is later fingerprinted and has his fingerprints run through the computer. His prints turn up as 10 different matches of people who are missing. Blood oozes out of him in buckets as it spills and crawls over the floor. Coming in contact with the blood causes visions of crimes that have taken place. He is the embodiment of the dead come back to settle the score.

There are mainly two segments of Gimp material here. As entertainment: This is really not a bad flick...Considering how low budget it is (made for only $72,000.). The filming is good, the acting is decent. It even has a soundtrack with a 72 piece orchestra (how the hell they do that for 72 grand?). Overall a C+

Gimp wise: 2 very attractive victims in almost nude suspensions with tight gags, in fairly long sequences (w/ full body views...although from a distance). Overall Gimp a B+/A-

Young Ms. Avital made quite an impression a few years back when GIMPers first learned about the movie Shallow Ground, which has also been reviewed by DHT. She is definitely hot and I loved her scenes in that movie. The other actress, Tara Killian, was also quite good.

ju man: Be careful with the "drug agent" movies, as they are often disappointing. For example, here is my review of IESP-351, which is typical of the films in this series.

One of the better films in the series was IESP-194 with Riko Tachibana.

I haven't seen it, but the cover art for IESP-500 looks pretty good, and the star of that one -- Rui Saotome -- is a dependable performer. You might also want to try IESP-505, with Maria Ozawa, although be warned that she has some ugly looking tattoos these days that may or may not be visible in this film (I haven't seen this one, either).

I also cannot describe how much I agree with you when it comes to male torture in movies. I gave a brief review of "Bad Reputation" at the above URL. It seems all revenge movies these days let the evil women off the the hook. I just saw the remake of "Last House on the Left" where that slutty villain, who loved to get naked, gets a bullet through the head. Jeez, could the film producers have thought of a more boring way to kill this evil woman?

But after taking a break, I find that the appeal is still there. Mind you, I'm not necessarily looking for new Japanese movies since there are thousands already made that I haven't seen. There are also a shitload of Japanese studios that I haven't got to yet. Perhaps a change of venue is in order?

DHT: Are you in Tokyo? About 10 years ago when I was working in Japan, I went to a rather large porn store in Shinjuku (on the east side of Kabukicho.) They had quite a variety, including a "Western" section although most of those movies were boring ones from Bizarre Tristar. They had a loose section for Japanese movies featuring gags. I bought one simply called "Gags 2," a rather tame effort that featured clips of women being gagged in a variety of ways. (One scene had a tied up woman being gagged by two other women. They stuffed a rag in her mouth, taped her mouth shut, wrapped medical gauze around her mouth, slapped on more tape, tied a cloth around her head, and finished it off with one of those leather contraptions with those sink plugs.)

What also surprised me was the price range. Some of the movies cost maybe 3,000 yen (about $30) and others were 30,000 yen ($300). I have no idea if the store is still there, as the turnover rate of businesses in Tokyo was pretty scary and I heard the government has tried to "clean up" Kabukicho. But I found there were places selling porn seemingly on every other block in Tokyo.

I think there may be something to what you're saying, but I also think Dr. Yuya may be right that the stuff is getting tamer. I mean, when you take a look at the JBD titles available at Attackers, I don't know that there's anything that looks like it would compare with some of the classic releases from that series.

And I'm not necessarily convinced it's just a case of me getting jaded.

I've mentioned before -- in reviews and comments -- that the Slave Island movies have lost their edge. One might think I simply feel that way because I've seen too many of them. Except, I recently had a chance to see Slave Island 3 -- the one film in the original series I hadn't previously seen -- and I thought it was really good. That experience makes me think I'm correct that the problem is with the latest titles in the series, not me.

I have enjoyed some of the Giga movies I have seen. Maybe I'll go back to those movies for a while.

ITC has just had TX Massacre on for about the gazzilionth time, followed by Eaten Alive.

A couple of days ago it was Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, with that classic scene. Then Criminal Minds has had a run of hot bondage scenes going.

Nicole Kidman, you ought to be ashamed.

While testifying before Congress this past week to demand action on violence against women, Kidman was asked if Hollywood contributed to violence against women by portraying them as weak sex objects. And her reply? Probably, she said, but she wasn't interested in those kinds of demeaning roles. "I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," she said.

Uh, hello, Nicole? Didn't your character get raped in Dead Calm? Weren't you bound and gagged in Batman Returns? Weren't you bound and gagged and threatened with a boiling kettle in Birthday Girl? Didn't you star in a movie called Dogville where your character is beaten up, raped, and tortured?

What a bunch of crap. Now, I'm obviously not in favor of real-life violence to women, but for her to sit there and publicly blame Hollywood movies for contributing in any way to rape is irresponsible, especially since she's been as guilty as nearly anyone else in the choices she's made in her career.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Nicole Kidman.

And what's worse is that when she comes out with this bold statement against Hollywood is that some people actually believe her. And yet there's no facts behind it. Rape statistics in the US are as low now as they've ever been. It all goes back to the whole PORN CAUSES RAPE hysteria from the days of the Meese Report in the 1980s. There's just no connection between the two, but it doesn't stop Hollywood from sanitizing their own work.

And like LTL pointed out, the trend now is towards showing torture towards men. Men! Who the hell wants to see that? You still get the occasional female rape scene, but for the most part, you rarely see the victimization and exploitation of women like you used to. In fact, the level of female nudity in horror films is ridiculously low. Even in rape scenes, it's getting pretty rare to even see a bare breast or two in a mainstream film.

A while back, Vince reviewed a film called Descent where the lead female character (Rosario Dawson) gets raped, and it's darkly lit, with no visible nudity. I saw the scene and it was purposely shot so it was not arousing at all. Of course, later on the film, she gains her revenge and the actual rapist gets tied to a bed and raped, and the scene is much longer, much better lit, and the guy is shown fully nude. This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. It's fine to exploit men, but now suddenly women are no longer allowed to be victims? This whole trend of "empowered" women in movies and TV is perverse and sickening. And statements like Kidman's only further that cause and give Hollywood reason to continue this course.

Here's a poll question to get the forum talking. I know we've done variations of this before, but we always have new readers here and it's a question worth exploring once again.

No, absolutely not. Movies can't make a person do anything. If that was true, I'd be the sickest person on the planet after the real life death (when I was in the military) and movie crap I've seen. The thing you need to step over the line is a lack of empathy. A frontal lobe brain disorder that prevents you from seeing or feeling anything for a person in pain.

What causes people to kill? What causes violence against women (or anyone for that matter) Constant bullying, degradation, beatings, sexual abuse... especially at a young age when the brain is still forming.

You want to stand up for a cause, put some effort into those... but that of course would require REAL WORK, dealing with REAL PEOPLE. She might break a nail.

Now to the Japanese movie critique. I believe the appeal is that the Japanese allow longer, more intense scenes than we see in American cinema. And almost all American S & M is presented as consensual which really takes the edge off. And the girls are very petite and make believable victims.To me with a few exceptions the issue with the Japanese products is the dearth of creativity. I can tell you the plot of EVERY drug agent/ spy caught/ housewife taken movie they are going to do. They just get a bit old after a while.

Also, the insistence on pleasuring the women and forcing BJ's before the rape is implausible at best. I can't imagine any rapist or torturer that would start with dining at the Y. The whole idea of torture is something the women don't enjoy, something that repulses them. While a few of the scenes are good, many are weak. The other thing that boggles my mind is the insistence that when the rape actually takes place the victim is no longer held down or tied down. Like what? I've even scene this in some of the GIGA flicks.

The other issue I have with Japanese AV is that it's very hard to get hooked on one girl. Because most of the girls rarely do more then one or two good gimp worthy flicks. It seems like they do one Attackers or GIGA thing and then retire or something. I get the feeling that the streets of Tokyo are crawling with millions of hot twenty-one year old bangable babes that all look sixteen. Most of which would gladly marry the first middle age American with a job who met them. Because with all these different girls in country that size doing A/V the ratio must be like twenty beautiful A/V star chicks for every guy.

Our only hope is Rachel Bilson signs up for the uncut release of Fair Game, the new more graphic version. :)

Humanity is a tapestry as well. Some, a small minority of human beings, might be inspired to take real life action on their violent feelings by some fabricated scenes they see in the media. Others who might have been predisposed to exercising their violent tendencies may be ameliorated by enjoying their aggressions vicariously through fantasy and media, never to actually bring it into the real. In this way media does a service to all.

Most, I imagine, find some jolly harmless outlets from their visual and audial material. Harmless fun without judgement or blame.

Here, I believe, is the real question. Why? Why are Horror Movies so damn attractive? Thrillers, crime movies, drama's etc. And why the ones with hot looking babes being threatened tortured and/or murdered? I have a theory; sex attracts attention. In most horror movies sexy women draw you into the scenario. Unfortunately if they are murdered or tortured in these movies they are mostly done so in unsexy ways. In The Cook, for example, a hot looking babe in lingerie walks in on the murderer busy murdering. She screams and runs away. He throws a meat cleaver lodging it in the back of her head. What is sexy about that death? It's a bait and switch. How many times has the voluptuous coed been killed quickly or off camera? It's more likely that a girl tied up will get more visual time than a murder scene. So that becomes desirable.

My rant is going a little off topic but my point is the media itself has programmed a world full of movie watchers with erotic anticipation followed by gross, gory or antiseptic follow through. This is why short scenes that deliver extended sexy death or tied up girls with or without torture are so much in demand. It is why I produce the scenes I, and apparently, many aficionados like so much. A sexy girl dying or being tortured on film should look like she's having a painfully high voltage orgasm. Only instead of rolling over and having a cigarette, she is either dead or unconscious.

I was listening the other week to an interview done with the quite well known atheist/scientist Richard Dawkins, who's main interest (aside from discrediting religion) is in talking about evolution. He said a fascinating thing, in response to the question 'what evolutionary advantage does having an imagination give people?' His answer was that if we are able to rehearse things that are dangerous to us in our minds, then rather than going ahead and doing them, we are able to run through the possible results, and if they're fatal, avoid that action. For example, rolling down that nearby cliff to get to the rabbit for dinner might not be such a good idea. Or, if you're a teenage girl who's just had sex for the first time, you might not want to go downstairs on your own to check out the strange noise - you'd call the cops.

This tied in with another inteview I heard with a young woman who was putting on a horror film festival, where she answered the same sort of question as Sir Bruce asked by talking about the enjoyment she got, as a movie fan, 'living through' horrible things (vicariously) which she could never otherwise experience without ending up dead or in major trouble.

To go back to Dawkins, it seems that things that are advantageous to our species survival (like fucking, for example), are pleasurable. So if using our imagination to go over horrific possibilities is something that helps us stay alive, then maybe that's why it's pleasurable - and I use the word 'pleasurable' deliberately (and I'm sure all readers here, as well as many millions who would never visit here, will know exactly why).

Maybe I'm drawing a long bow, but by this theory, horror/extreme movies let us work through the 'storyline' that would, in real life, lead to us either dying, being in prison forever, or otherwise destroying ourselves and others.

This hasn't really answered the question of the poll, but I think what's going on with the anti-male violence in movies is very complicated, and ties more into the sort of thing I wrote above - maybe along the lines of jokes about rapists getting raped themselves in prison, it's an acceptable form of sadism that gives a moral backing to your pleasure. Complaining about it on the grounds that it's more extreme than violence visited upon women, though, seems to me to be a bit parochial.

Japanese bondage films becoming boring? I vote a big, fat, red YES. When I first really started focusing on GIMP material, I learned early enough to keep an eye out for content from Japan. I'd almost thought they invented torturing females in a sexual manner. They had GIMP content in mainstream entertainment, mangga, and all adult material seemed to have at least some GIMP influence. They had whipfests, electrotorture, penetrations with huge dildoes, all administered with a certain meanness and sadistic glee. (In some sense, they were a lot like ZFX). I particularly enjoyed that they focused on torturing breasts and genitalia (probably in violent response to pixilation). My favorite clip from the older days is still the one where hoods take over a TV show, then proceed to slap, puch and maul the bountiful newscaster's bare breasts, while she screams, pleads and cries the whole time. There used to be quite a bit of video from Japan along these lines.

Today, the only things interesting about Japanese bondage films are the bombastic titles ("Big Breast Destroyer" had such promise!) and the covers of the discs, which invariably promise far more torture than actually shown. One school of 'torture" is apparently mostly candle wax, nose clips, and more wax. The other is this corny 'forced orgasm as torture' concept, where they stick various wires, vibrators and pads (none of which are probably even switched on) on the victim, who then thrashes around and pretends she is suffering from orgasm overload. Even the forced sex scenarios are watered down. Instead of a tightly bound (or held down) babe in torn clothing being viciously pounded against her will and over her violent protests and futile resistance, we generally have the already naked, untied prisoner who meekly 'surrenders' herself for fear of worse consequences.

I have not seen Torture Witchhunt Count, but I am betting it will be a prime example of what I mean. Witches are supposed to be purged and interrogated with whips, pincers, pears, breast-presses and more. From the back cover, I see that they are torturing one witch with the kind of vibrator you might see in a Kink video (and not even the rougher ones).

I'm not saying we don't get jaded or more picky over time. But the declining quality of Japanese videos is the fault of the producers, not the GIMPers.

1. I believe that violence in movies does contribute to violence in society. The common arguments against this are either "Well I watch violent movies all the time and I'm fine!" or "if kids learn violence from movies or TV or whatever then their parents shouldn't let them watch them!" Both of these arguments are absolute horseshit.

For one thing, using oneself as an example is as useless an argument as trying to argue your dreams as evidence in court. It proves nothing, and the speaker has no credibility nor are they an adequate diagnostician of themselves. Presuming that everyone who is suggestible is a child whose parents can easily censor what they see is obviously narrow-sighted. Susceptible people come in all ages. 2 8-year old boys killed a 2 year old in Britain. They did it because they wanted to be like Chucky. Teens killed homeless people because they wanted to be like Mickey and Mallory in Natural Born Killers. A teen convinced two of his friends to kill one of their other friends because he wanted to be like the Corleones.

You and I have never killed anyone. That's not the question though. The question is, does media violence contribute to violence IN SOCIETY. For every half-bright know-it-all at the watercooler who is desperate to make his girlfriend watch the Clockwork Orange, yet thinks he's "just fine", there are a dozen lonely, insecure young people being taught, with more repetition than almost any other lesson, that the answer to their problems is violent action.

As far as violence against women, I don't think it is JUST media VIOLENCE that contributes to that, I think it is the media's unrealistic portrayal of women in general, as having to be beautiful and accepting of everything, and most of all, to give their protagonists complete acceptance and approval. Girlfriends in male-oriented comedies come most readily to mind. Their role is always to be beautiful, nice, funny, adoring, and approving, no more than a beautiful supplement to their silly male pursuers. But real women have actual fears, insecurities, irritations, ambitions, needs and worries. To some guy raised on SNL, Porky's, and National Lampoon movies, and expects gentle nymphs who love his antics and sense of humor, all of these real needs and feelings must seem like one big pain in the ass. Where's his Christine Taylor? Why does he have to listen to all this bullshit?

Finally, of course these things desensitize us. Is that really in question for anyone here? The more you see anything the less effective/stimulating it is for/on you.

We elitist limo-liberal Hollywood types are really the only segment of society capable of making the distinction between fantasy and reality. We spend our entire lives portraying people other than ourselves expecting you of the great unwashed masses to pay top dollar for every over hyped piece of shit we can produce. Then, to justify our existence, we spend every free moment giving awards to each other since we have no other means of self validation.

Truth is most of us major Hollywood celebs are filled with self-loathing and we simply want to make the rest of you miserable as well. Look at the career choices I've made - I married Tom Cruise for christ sake. What a prick he is but that's another story.

And besides, being the mercenary bitch I am, I'm willing to do anything on screen if the money is right. Just last month my people were in negotiations with Jeff Gord to do a shoot but he apparently couldn't meet my low ball $4 million dollar per film tab. The long answer is not so black and white. Violence has been around for a long, long time. Way before movies and TV. There is no doubt that some people might be influenced by what they see and read. But, what they actually do, is more a product of their upbringing and overall life circumstance. The ultimate decision to commit violence is theirs alone. Blame parents, TV, books, history, Twinkies, whatever---they still own the act. They give it life, then see it through and it is their burden to carry.

There is way too much blame going around. I submit people should stop being idiots. Scammed by an infomercial late night--you're an idiot. Backed over your pet--you're an idiot for not realizing your pet was one too. Hurt or kill someone--you're the biggest idiot of all. You're to blame, not TV, not movies, not your momma, not foster care or Catholicism and not the bully in 5th grade. You. Just you.

And, yes, I believe these idiots are influenced by all kinds of things. When I make a movie, I assume my audience are mature adults that make good decisions. But, I know better--really I do. But I also don't think my role is to parent society. Controlling, censoring, creates far more problems. Having an awareness of what I do, what it is, and what others might see it as is substantially different than some corporate Hollywood movie monger in denial about their latest slasher flick or their serial killer instruction movie, Mr Smith.

But that being said, I enjoy what I do and for the most part, my fans are mature adults solely responsible for themselves. The few that are not, well, they did not need me to fuck up...there are plenty of violence things out there to "influence" them when they are ready to do something stupid. All we can hope is to not be around when they do.

SADLY, the recent changes in UK law have apparently ignored this venerable peice of brain storming and caved in to the knee jerk reactions, one distraught Mom who sadly lost her daughter to a nasty idiot, and a politician looking to keep his ass on a bench.

In order for material to be considered obscene, the Jury has to consider that it will cause an appreciable number of persons coming into contact with the material would have their demeanor altered in a SINISTER MANNER. It does not mean to merely influence them, nor does it refer to the appreciable number as the few who are the lunatic fringe.

If you apply the spirit of that thinking, as I did in the case of the 5000 Fantasy 3 magazines they went after, then what do we consider an appreciable number based on the total of 5000? - - - 50? 100?. Stick that into Hollywood terms and given the same criteria and the numbers viewing and I think we would see a massive surge in violence with every movie of that ilk.

Anyway, I thought I should state for the record that I'm a little bit skeptical about that post from "Nicole Kidman." I guess I should at least be grateful "Nicole" didn't make one of those lame jokes about Tom and the gerbils.

Yes, Hollywood does push violence, but it takes an already sick individual person to act upon that. In the Boilerplant group I see a lot of extremely violent images, decapitations, cuttings, dismemberment, disembowelments, hangings, stabbings, with people commenting on the eroticism of those images. Proves the desensitism of society.

I live in New York, and about 10 years ago to prove her acting cred, Kidman appeared in a Broadway play called "The Blue Room." What was the play about? I don't remember, all I remember is Kidman's character was dressed like a slut I'd pick up in an after hours club dressed in a mini skirt and dark hose as seen in the attached picture. That was the selling point. If she really wanted to be taken seriously in live theater, she should have done something not so titillating. But sex sells even on stage.

In that respect, for her to put down movies that supposedly exploit women in the media is phony and laughable. My guess is she's just upset that now that she's hit the 40 and over mark, and those young sexy women's roles are going to Megan Fox and other 20 somethings, she's got to be preachy.

Personally, despite being 40 plus, I'd still do Nicole, but she better lay off the Botox.

Also, as to Congress, don't they have more important things to do like trying to get health care for everyone and ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan rather than make us feel guilty about looking at beautiful women in distress?

To answer the general question, I don't think Hollywood adds or decreases to the treatment of women. That argument has been made ever since the first author put pen to paper. It's a straw man argument. As for people, or men in particular, who might be persuaded easily by entertainment or something else, they are naturally weak minded anyway like religious fanatics. (Anyone want to ban The Bible?).

Hollywood may demean women for exploitation and entertainment. But it does so to other groups whether it's women or minorities. As long as it makes a buck. I for one feel we have more serious issues to focus on.

It's just an optical illusion. In the pic you questioned about (http://ralphus.net/dailypic/zfx_goon_02_caps_01_5148.jpg) she's hunched over and leaning forward toward the camera and she looks shorter and slightly more thick. But in the previous shot where she's standing upright (http://ralphus.net/dailypic/zfx_goon_02_caps_01_5136.jpg), you can see she looks a bit slimmer. Trust me, her body looks great in the movie.

LTL: I'm a few days late, but thanks for the mini-reviews of Return of the Living Dead III and Shallow Ground. I haven't seen the former, but on Shallow Ground, I agree with your grades. The movie itself was only fair, but the individual GIMP scenes of Tara Killian and especially Natalie Avital made it worthwhile. In fact, Natalie won a 2005 Ralphus Award for Best Mainstream Performance, and Canadian picked her as well. How often do you see an actual suspension scene in a mainstream film? And a naked one on top of that? One of the real gems of the past decade, IMO.

Latest GIMP Poll: Some very interesting and well thought out comments so far. I particularly liked reading DHT's opposing take on it, even though I don't really agree with a lot of what he said. If you think that violence in movies contributes to violence in society, I'll counter that if a person is sick and has predilections towards violence, it's not going to matter what movie he sees. In fact, he doesn't have to watch a movie. Heck, a woman walking down the street wearing a skirt could give him dark ideas.

People get influenced by all kinds of material. Movies, books, magazine articles, TV commercials, print ads, you name it. Not to mention porn, specifically bondage films. You can't totally safeguard society because there's a few loose screws out there. That agenda was put in by Rohrabacher, he asked the question, the only one who asked a question about Hollywood, and the last question of the 2 hour panel. She was blindsided by a clever politician. Did she blow the answer? Yes. She was rambling, and trying to say the right thing to get this representative's vote. Maybe she sort of believes what she said, but I tend to think not with much strong affirmation. "Probably...ummm." She's played weak characters, She's played strong characters. She's played sexy. She's played a bad singer. One can label her as a hypocrite for this answer, but I think of her as a celebrity wanting to use her celebrity for a good cause, and getting a question she wasn't expecting or prepared for, she didn't have a script with good dialog to read from, and she forgot about some of the roles she's played!

Really. She's a nice person. I saw her on a Larry King interview and she was nice, not a super genius, and on occasion reminded me of a 12 to 15-year-old girl. At this congressional panel, she read her prepared speech fine, she did somewhat OK with a few other questions about what she came to talk about, the I-VAWA, although the other 2 ladies were better, more knowledgeable. They were the scholars, she was the not so scholarly.

As far as do movies, books, art, plays, video games, bondage porn contribute to real life violence? Everyone's different and you'd have to go to each person in the world, and scan their brain. Some people are more influenced than others, but I think the influence is negligible for most people, like 99.999999%. Evil people, psychopaths, people with no conscience, people with no sense of right or wrong, or little sense of right or wrong, don't need fictional material to get them to do bad things in real life. And good people, sane people, people with a conscience, empathy for others, a sense of right and wrong, aren't going to commit real violence against women or men because they see a bunch of murders every week on TV crime dramas.

What we really need to fear are the lizard people, or aliens, as depicted on ABC's V series, premiering Tuesday. OK, it's late. Sometimes I can't sleep. I saw this movie 'Insomnia' and was influenced by it. OK, that's not true, I never saw the movie, just the trailer.

Numerous examples of this celeb centered thinking exist. The one that comes to mind best is a few years back when Jessica Lange testified before House and Senate committees on the subject of farm subsidies. When asked afterward what qualifications or expertise she possessed in the area of farm subsidies her response was that she portrayed a farm wife in a movie once. So I guess Nicole's qualification for giving testimony about violence toward women is that she portrayed a beaten woman in a movie once.

Not just Gimp...but anything for that matter. In the days of my grandparents...and their parents, tragic events like earthquakes or fires...or a murder for that matter, were terrible, terrible things. Now, just during the evening news, how many loss-of-life stories do you see on a nightly basis...all while you sit and eat your evening meal.

I'll second that, and add that genetics also plays a role. For example, much was made of the fact that Harris and Klebold, the two kids responsible for the Columbine massacre, saw a movie in which a trench-coated youth kills a teacher. Well, maybe that's where they got the idea. But it also turns out that Harris was a sociopath, and Klebold was suffering from depression. And both had been involved in less serious crimes prior to the Columbine shooting. In other words, these kids were on the road to ruin long before they saw the movie.

So many social and psychological problems are traceable to family issues stemming from incest, physical and verbal abuse, neglect and bad genes that these should be the major focus of any discussion about preventing violence. As someone with a social science background, I am skeptical of "studies" that attempt to link media violence with real-life violence. I don't feel that any of them are credible because they ignore more important factors.

So I guess Nicole's qualification for giving testimony about violence toward women is that she portrayed a beaten woman in a movie once.

Yeah, it's not like she's ever been threatened with violence, or has a friend who's been raped, beaten or murdered. How on earth would she know ANYTHING about violence towards women?
