SS Hell Camp 5 - Women's Hell

A truck arrives in camp and unloads a gaggle of women with varying degrees of attractiveness. The best-looking are selected for brothel duty. That means they get to shower a lot, have sex with the officers, and drink heavily. The others become candidates for scientific experiments 'of great value to the Third Reich'.

In the first laboratory scene, a prisoner is strapped to an operating table naked except for a sheet covering her pelvic area. The Nazi scientists are trying to test a new burn remedy. They smear a patch of flammable gel on her leg and set it on fire. Flames and great, bloodcurdling screams ensue as the prisoner squirms and thrashes about. Then, apparently in shock, she lies still with eyes wide open as the doctors apply some kind of ointment.

Later, we're back in the lab and see a quick scene showing two prisoners together on a gurney away from the operating table. They are displayed in a similar manner as above, one with the burn mark on her leg, the other with the same area stitched up, evidently with a Magic Marker. Then another prisoner is strapped to a table, like the others, and given the flame treatment. She screams and arches her back very high off the table as an attendant holds her head down. This time the 'doctors' let the fire burn a bit longer before tending to the wound. Because they don't know what's going to happen to them until the fire starts, the 'flame girls' don't show much preliminary anxiety or fear, which I think diminishes the scenes a bit. But all of them are fairly attractive and have nicely-shaped natural breasts prominently displayed. As I watched them I thought: I wonder why they weren't drafted for the party crew?

About midway through the flick, a few of the brothel duty prisoners try to escape. They are discovered and locked in an incinerator. When the jets are turned on, they huddle together and cry out as they are enveloped by images of fire superimposed on the screen. The Nazis grab four other prisoners that they suspect of abetting the escape, and that sets up the next GIMP scene.

The four prisoners are shackled up naked in the torture room: two are chained to the wall with arms outstretched; one is strapped in a chair; and the fourth is strapped to a table, lying on her back, and her scalp is girded with a steel band attached to the table end. The nasty lieutenant (played by the same actor who portrayed the sadistic officer in SS Experiment) and a female officer grill the prisoners, wanting to know who was involved in aiding the escape attempt. But the babes won't talk.

Lt. Nasty tries to get the most strong-willed one to cave in by torturing the other three one-by-one. He takes pliers to the girl in the chair, pulling her fingernails one after another, then sets fire to bamboo shoots under the remaining fingernails. For the girl on the table, the Lt. slowly turns a wheel, tightening the steel band until it cracks her skull. Then he puts on some brass knuckles with sharp protrusions and punches the third girl (chained to the wall) repeatedly in the midsection. For her punishment, the most stubborn girl gets whipped across the abdomen and then branded with a hot iron. Finally the lieutenant grabs some large tongs and says, "Well, if you won't talk, you won't be needing this!" He shoves the tongs in her mouth and rips out her tongue, chuckling and grinning. This scene is great; it is lengthy, and every second just drips with menace and maliciousness. IMO everyone involved does a great acting job, from realistic screams to sinister looks. The actor playing the lieutenant must have been born bad.

Then the girls get the incinerator treatment. The lieutenant, feeling a bit edgy after his labors and perhaps frustrated that he didn't get any info, decides that he needs to unwind. As he passes by the quarters of a very attractive, sleeping blond prisoner who is privileged enough to have her own cell (long story), he bursts in, tears off the blanket to reveal her nakedness, and jumps her. She struggles to no avail, as he grips her arms tightly and puts his full weight on her. This is a well-done rape scene.

Finally, everything goes to hell as the Russian troops advance on the camp and the prisoners rebel.

As a movie, this is very well done for this genre. Director Sergio Garrone shows great attention to detail (as well as pyromaniac tendencies), as he did in SS Experiment. There are interesting characters, including a cunning, dark-skinned French-via-Jamaica captured Resistance fighter (played with earthy seductiveness by lovely Rita Manna) who becomes the commander's favorite and unfortunately does not get GIMPed. (If this was a Filipino WIP flick, Pam Grier might play the part). It's got the requisite gratuitous sex and nudity. I could have done without the superfluous insertion of some real-life Holocaust scenes in the opening credits and midway through. The movie unravels a bit at the end, and the dubbing is mediocre at best, but I give it a C+.

GIMP-wise, there are only a few scenes but I thought they were nicely done. The actresses were not drop-dead gorgeous, but I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed. They played their GIMP scenes very realistically. My GIMP grade is B-.
