BTW, manga are Japanese comics; anime is animation. They could depict the same thing (e.g. the comic book version of the anime video would be Manga).

In the U.S. an actual person would have to be depicted; a cartoon or comic depicting young-looking sexual characters wouldn't be enough for a child pornography case per se, although I do know of prosecutions involving computer generated imagery that was photorealistic. However, the issue of obscenity is a different matter. It's entirely possible that some manga could not pass the three-prong Miller test and thus would be deemed obscene. A lot would depend on the locale; most likely local standards in California would let anime/manga be fine. However, other locales might find tentacle rape of apparent underage cartoon characters to be obscene, for example.

OK I want to give my two cents on the Ralphus rant. You said Brian's page gets more posts, but what needs to be taken into account there is that those guys jump all over any little thing with bondage. I don't know about everyone else here, but for me most of what they post over there isn't worthy of discussion.

So I guess what you have to ask yourself is, do you want quantity or quality on this board? If this site started getting flooded with posts about stuff that hardly even qualified as GIMP material, I'd be on here a lot less because it'd be too much to muddle through.

And Ralphus, if the site is getting 1200 hits a day, that should tell you that you're not wasting your time. I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but if it hasn't, another mainstream film to look out for is Hostel: Part III, which is due to be released straight to DVD sometime before the end of the year, probably around Halloween. It has been rated R for strong bloody sadistic violence and torture, sexuality/nudity and pervasive language.

Considering how great Hostel: Part II was, this one certainly has potential. However there's already one red flag. "The story concerns a Vegas bachelor party that turns grisly, Hostel-style" according to one review site. Bachelor party...all guys...please no. But we'll see I guess.

I've lurked on these pages for quite some time now. A few months ago, I emailed Ralphus in regards to the subject of bondage in Second Life, along with a few pictures of my exploits there.

Last year, I sent some GIMP stuff to our friend, Ralphus. I don't think I'm betraying any confidences when I tell you Ralphus was amazed at how nervous I am sending stuff across the border. I guess it's not an issue when you have material going from Canada to the U.S., but Canadians develop a general nervousness about the border.

So last night the guys came over to watch the football game and do some beers. Synapse Films released the new DVD of Wide Open that DHT mentioned a few days ago. They were also the ones who released the two versions of Thriller: A Cruel Picture that I discussed in my review, and now that I have visited the Synapse Films web site, I can tell you the Limited Edition is the one you want. The Vengeance Edition has all the violence but none of the naughty bits, apparently, to make it easier to market in mainstream stores.

They are also the folks who released the new DVD of Exposed, which I originally saw at the drive-in (*sigh*) under the title Diary of a Rape and reviewed under that title but I notice Ralphus cross-referenced it under both titles in the REVIEWS section.

And they released Sex and Fury on DVD, which I just reviewed as well.

They also released the Christina Lindberg movies Maid in Sweden, a non-violent, non-GIMP sexploitation movie, as well as Anita, a sexploitation flick that sounds like it might have some rough sex or violent fantasy content but I have never seen it, so if someone out there has and you can clue me in, I would appreciate it. That's SIX Christina Lindberg flicks. I'm thinking of writing to this Jerry Chandler guy and asking him to look for Journey to Japan, the hard-to-find movie Ralphus just reviewed. Something tells me if anyone can do it, he might be the man.

By the way, this is also the company that partnered with Mr Skin to release the Triple-Feature Women in Prison DVD that I mentioned last month (or whenever).

And last but most emphatically: Margot Your posts and vidcaps are always so awesome that we sometimes neglect to tell you how much we appreciate them. When my wife asks me why I am crossing off the days until Halloween, I'll just have to tell her that it has replaced Thanksgiving as my favorite holiday.

I was much more happy with the Delila scene, which is good since she's the reason I got the movie in the first place. My criticisms of Delila & Nichole were solved this time around. No blindfold, no vibrator, no Delila smarting off. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised when Silverback repeated the "Who's my bitch?" line from the previous movie. In the first movie she smarted off and said "Not me, motherfucker!" This time around it was a forced and compliant "me" in between choked breaths while he made her suck his cock. Delila was much more of a victim here and Silverback played a rapist well, although I wish there were a little more meanness in his performance. Still, both stayed in character throughout. A big improvement.

My disappointment was that Silverback kept taking Delila's gag off to have her suck his cock, and each time he replaced it, it became less and less effective. Speaking of AOH, I posted a couple of pics from my latest custom with Seductive Studios at my DFN page. They did an awesome job again and got me the movie the day after they shot it!

Firstly, I am very excited about the release of 'Malificarum'. As long as I can remember, I have been turned on by 'damsel in distress' moments in films - from the earliest glimpses of Penelope Pitstop tied up by the hooded claw, or Daphne from Scooby Doo cleave gagged by the villain. Usually, 'classic' gimp movies only contain a very brief moment that 'do it' for me - like the whipping scenes in 'Ramrodder' or 'Ms Stilletto', or the rack scenes in 'Vampire Happening' or ' Mark of the Devil', but those brief moments were enough to make us treasure those movies and return to them again and again. The prospect of an entire movie of such scenes means that the bar of expectation has been set very high indeed. However, don't worry, Margot - even if just one of the many gimp-worthy scenes 'works', then the whole film will have been worth it. I cannot wait.

I need to correct my comment on the "Spanish Horse" scene: It was not Jane, but Margot, who described it thusly:

esso: Dude, I'm in your corner on the bare feet vs. shoes issue. I can understand situations where the babe's shoes are still on...in those moments when the villain(s) did not yet get around to removing them. But naked with shoes on?

I don't have a bare foot fetish...the parts I like most are up higher. But the shoes are just too distracting. I think we have talked about this in the past, but it was a while back. I respect the fact that some GIMPers like the high heels on the victim. Besides doing nothing for me, it's a major turn-off.

Here are all the situations where I don't like the victim shown wearing shoes, particularly high-heeled ones: during an abduction from a bedroom; during a rape; while tied up in - or to - a bed; in a dungeon; in a barn; in a jungle; in the woods; in a desert; anywhere near water - swimming pool, river, ocean, etc.; tied/chained in a bathroom or bedroom; in a tent; on a rack; while being whipped; on a wooden horse; and in any situation where she is otherwise naked. If by chance her shoes were left on in any of these scenarios, I don't want to see them.

Still, once a victim is hoisted up into the air, or stretched out on a table or rack or something, or suspended upside down, the shoes can come right off. In fact, even in the other situations YikYakker mentioned, just avoid showing the soles of the feet.

By the way, did anyone else have a Green Eggs and Ham moment reading through YikYakker's paragraph?

I am not surprised that the new Conan movie is a bust for GIMP. If you were expecting Deathstalker or Barbarian Queen then you are about 25 years too late. They just don't make movies like that any more....

Alazar notes on his website that he's very much into high heeled shoes and knee-high boots, so that makes sense that he drew her wearing the boots. Logically though, it doesn't make much sense to drop her in a vat of boiling liquid completely naked except for her feet.

We had this discussion before when I was running old House of Milan photos at the top of the site. Someone pointed out how Blakemore had a chick suspended with her legs spread wide and yet she was wearing high heels. And I used to be totally ignorant of the whole "shoes versus bare feet" thing until I interviewed Blakemore for the site. He told me he doesn't have a shoe fetish or a foot fetish, he said women look sexier that way. He said everyone in the world knows it...and he was very emphatic about it.

I tried at all times, no matter how the girl was tied up, I wanted her to look sexy, I wanted her to be graceful. You will not see a movie that I ever made where a girl's got her foot at a 90 degree angle. That is just abhorrent. Standing flat-footed...my god. I would smack you upside the head for doing that. Who wants to see a naked woman standing flat-footed? That's just plain anti-erotic. Put her on her toes. If she doesn't have on spiked heels, then keep her up on her tiptoes.

So ever since he pointed that out, I've been noticing it more and more myself. In the most recent bondage film I've seen, which just happened to be the same movie John Galt reviewed, Roughies Volume 1, Silverback has Delila wear these 3 or 4 inch high heels during the entire video. In fact, there's even a point in the video where he has her lay on the bed, and makes a specific order: "Keep those shoes on!"

Again, logically, it doesn't make sense to me, particularly in the context of the scene, because he then proceeds to rape her with her untied feet in the air and precariously close to his body while he's pounding her. If Delila had the presence of mind, she could have easily jabbed him with those heels and even made her escape if she had wanted. Those heels are potential weapons. If you're raping someone, why would you allow your victim the opportunity to do that to you? I wouldn't do it, but apparently it was more important in his mind that she look sexy.

Ralphus: I totally agree with your sentiment regarding that particular piece by Alazar. I always thought that ruined an otherwise awesome pic. I just read your comment regarding the 90 degree foot thing and realized that that is exactly the pose I came up with in a pic I'm working on.

Not sure if I would qualify for the whole foot fetish thing (maybe a little), however I do believe it is immersion breaking. Introducing modern clothing into a fantasy pic (or scene, or movie) just takes me right out of the fantasy. IMO, Nude should be just that. Nudity symbolizes vulnerabliliy (at least to me), and adding high heels really ruins the mystique/ fantasy. Just my humble opinion, though.

Believe I will fall into the esso/YikYakker/John Galt school of thought - after viewing the superb piece of Alazar work I tried to visualize high heels on a chick in a similar situation - found no way to justify fuck-me heels on Natalie Avital in "Shallow Ground" or Raquel Merono in "Dagon" - I guess there are occasions when the context would demand them but otherwise let nature take its course.

Going back in the time of the Inquisition I believe women did not wear high heels but what I should had said in the right bondage torture scenario like in the above Ralphus pic, it works. If the (high heeled) shoe fits, wear it. If damsel is bound standing while she being tortured, whipped, spanked, etc then wearing high heels adds to their painful torture situation and more visually erotic appealing to me. It just depends on why and how she being tortured.

Unlike apparently everyone else here, I've never seen Demon Seed, except for the beginning of the rape scene which I'm pretty sure was edited on network TV years ago. The good news is that you can indeed watch the entire film online and apparently uncut on YouTube, beginning with Part 1 at this link. Or if you don't have 2 hours to invest, you can skip directly ahead to the rape scene right here.

In watching the rape scene online, I kept thinking it was pretty cool for a mainstream scene. Hell, men like tying women down and raping them, so why wouldn't a computer programmed by a man want to do the same thing? The motivation would have to be different, though. I mean, did I read that the computer wants to impregnate her? I'm not into science fiction even a little bit, but how's a woman going to give birth after being fucked by a computer? What's the baby going to look like? Will it grow up to become an adult-sized computer with human characteristics? Did Koontz even think that part through?

Anyway, thanks for a very good review, and if you like the whole horny robot computer concept, you should definitely seek out the ZFX films that Canadian mentioned, Robopimp and the 3 Machine Head movies. There are reviews for all 4 of them in the Reviews section. Myself, I'm more into seeing women abused by men rather than machines. What can I say? I'm a traditionalist.

I am not so much a snuff fan, although, as you said, I am a huge Delila Darling fan. Certainly a charter member of the GIMP chapter of her fan club. Maybe even the president. However, the EWP website is singularly unhelpful in that the model page does not have a list of productions in which you can find that particular model. Additionally, in most of the pictures featured on her model page, she is clothed in almost all of them. I would much prefer to strip Delila naked and rape her than strangle, throttle, or hang her to death. Or, you know, watch that being done in a well-lighted and filmed production. Consequently, I have not viewed any of her EWP clips. Checking one of them out is on my To-Do List but it is fairly far down in priority because of that limited-nudity thing.

I would be interested to read a review by someone who has seen any of her EWP shoots, though.

Jess - yeah, I saw Robert Carmichael and have commented on it - that is a devastating home invasion scene at the end that runs about 10 minutes and I thought it quite well done - unlike you I did not find it thought provoking - unless I completely misfired on understanding the premise he and his droogs become stoners and rapist/murderers because they are bored with life in their sleepy English coastal village and there are wars in the world - boy, that could describe almost all of us at one time or another - I do agree the entire scene is disturbing even to one as jaded as I - and thought the actress pulled that part off very well.

Just viewed an item picked up from Amazon at the above link - "S&Man", translation "Sandman" - read the premise and thought it intriguing and it got some decent reviews so decided to give it a go - this was nothing like I thought it would be so a few comments for a heads up.

The premise is a filmmaker is doing a documentary film on indie/underground horror films and to that end he attends conventions and does interviews with directors, actors and those who study such behaviors - along the way one of the directors who has done a series of films titled "S&Man" is a bit edgier than the rest and may be abducting, torturing and whacking young women for real.

As a Gimp movie there is not much to recommend it - interspersed with the interviews are snippets from a variety of sources, short in length, and mostly things that horror movie fans have seen before or are at least familiar with - but all have at least a bondage theme - W.A.V.E. Productions, Fred Vogel of August Underground infamy, Debbie D and yes, the ever present Bill Zebub are all featured - in all fairness to Zebub he comes across pretty well in this type of format.

What was an unexpected pleasure was how well this movie was made and for standard entertainment value found it quite nice - if this guy could cut loose and go full throttle Gimp we might well have a winner.

All these reviews with screencaps are fantastic (well, most of them). I never saw Demon Seed either; I did get the paperback book at a used book store, so long ago I forget what I thought about it! Lipstick, now there's a movie I remember wanting to see and then completely forgot about! I wonder how many other old movies there are like that: movies in the 70s, 80s, I wanted to see then, didn't or couldn't for various reasons, and now might be out on DVD but I don't remember what they were (titles or anything)!

Now why did I write: well, most of them. Nothing against the reviews, it's just I don't understand movies where the male attacker gets completely naked, while the girl isn't stripped naked. Even if a male performer is in good shape, he's not the one I want to see naked! I suppose this is a pet-peeve of mine. The attacker should keep his clothes on, strip the girl, it's just common sense!

I know A Dangerous Method has been mentioned on the forum in the past, but just to give an update, it's looking more promising. Reviewers are saying Keira Knightley has nude scenes and scenes of being beaten, and at least one review makes it sound like there could be a nude bondage scene.

"The Pirates of the Caribbean star looked more likely to be attending a high tea then topless and strapped to a bed while being thrashed by her lover. However, that's the Keira viewers will be seeing in her latest, buzz-worthy film."

There was quite of bit of controversy about this flick at the time it was being shown, on several levels:

~ the lengthy and brutal rape scene
~ Margaux Hemingway was a major celebrity; doing this scene put her career on the line
~ the inclusion of her younger sister as an underage rape victim
~ the legal issues raised by the storyline
~ the implied justification of vengeance, which would be revisited later in I Spit on Your Grave (1977).

Lipstick was not the first rape-revenge flick, but if I'm not mistaken, most of its predecessors were grindhouse/drive-in flicks with lesser-known actresses.

As a movie, it's not an A by any means, but if you're watching a movie to see a model getting raped, it delivers exactly what you're hoping for. Well, there's plenty that should be in the database. Some of the best were made back in the 1970s, when filmmakers had new-found freedom to show explicit nudity and rape on film for the first time, and before the next generation decided it was their goal to censor those same films. As a result, a lot of those titles are unavailable to the DVD generation, or if they are, they're either hard to find or else missing the scenes that made them great to begin with.

There are titles I would like to review but it seems less than worthwhile because few others will have a chance to check those titles out afterward. It was why I sat on reviewing Christina Lindberg's Japanese movie for so long, because the movie is largely unavailable. But the allure of Christina Lindberg Appreciation Week brought me out my shell. Anybody have a movie they'd like to see get an official GIMP review on the board?

While I enjoyed the review and the caps, I'm left feeling a bit puzzled. For whatever reason, I don't seem to have the same fond memories that everyone else has about Lipstick. I didn't dislike it, but it's not a movie that I own. I guess I missed something.

Insomniac - concerning "A Dangerous Method" - I notice it's directed by David Cronenberg - never found him to be particularly Gimp friendly with the exception of the dungeon teasers in "Videodrome" but still we can hope - reading the article you provided I came away unsure whether Keira is the victim of or aggressor in this relationship - as I read it she is mentioned in a masochistic thing and also referred to as under treatment for fits of rage - we will have to monitor this one.

Anyway, the best hit turned out to be a blog at Rotten Tomatoes, complete with several of the obligatory I think ALL rape scenes are disturbing posts. Yes, yes: That's why you are reading the thread and commenting on it. I understand. You are SO disgusted. I am equally annoyed by hypocritical posters, but I read on anyway.

It turned out to be mostly a list of movies with rape scenes, not a list of the best (or, for those who haven't come to terms with their darker desires, most disgusting) rape scenes. Comments in the thread named Caligula, which had a fairly wicked rape scene, but it didn't do much for me, being more of a conceptually humiliating rape than a violent rape. A Clockwork Orange was mentioned, and I have to admit the Singing in the Rain rape was terrific as far as it went, but I'm not sure I would include it in a Top 10 List.

The original list at the top of the thread did not include I Spit On your Grave, by the way. Nor did it include Lipstick. Hmm. Obviously not compiled by a GIMPer. You can read the list (actually the entire thread) here.

Straw Dogs and Irreversible I get. I personally loved The Evil Dead rape by tree scene, but I would have to compile my list to see if it made the Top 10 cut-off. The others were movies I haven't seen or I saw and the rape scene apparently did not make an impression on me. So now I have some movies to check out, although I am not very hopeful I will be seeing anything great. Anyone who could list a scene from Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman (which was rated PG-13), but not list Dead Calm with Nicole Kidman, probably is not qualified to compile an authoritative list.

Collectively, though, I'll bet we are. It's a damn shame we don't have a mechanism that would allow for such a polling to take place. Of course, a great number of our forum membership don't actively participate that often, but a simple voting poll might have drawn some folks out.

I will be interested to see if anyone answers Ralphus' call to post any movies they would like to see reviewed.

A Canadian: For whatever reason, I don't seem to have the same fond memories that everyone else has about Lipstick.

While I liked the clothes-ripping and the tying to the bed, I did not like seeing Margaux's face smeared with lipstick. Maybe that's why I have not revisited this movie.

Understood. An earlier one that comes to mind is Act of Vengeance AKA "Rape Squad" (1974), which has a standout scene that we've discussed on this board in the past.

BTW, the top 10 most disturbing rape scenes you uncovered was valuable for me as a reminder of rape scenes that I missed, such as the ones with Jodie Foster, Hilary Swank and Chloe Sevigny.

I've just recently viewed a flick from the "good old days" (1977) that has a noteworthy rape scene. The English title is Confessions of the Sex Slaves and it is available, but at the price of your first-born child. I've got it on my list of movies to review, or at least to submit to the rape database, if it's not already included there.

Does anyone know of any "Attackers" films with good whipping scenes?

A couple of films come to mind. The whipping scenes in Goddess of Hell (Attackers JBD-103) are pretty good. Some of the whippings in Attackers JBD-077 are pretty good, too. I have reviews of both movies in the Reviews section if you want more details.

Generally, your best bet is the JBD series of films, and I would recommend looking for older titles.

I like watching women get raped. There, I said it. How cathartic! I like seeing 'em tortured, too.

Anyway, I looked at their lists of rape scenes and was dismayed to discover I've seen nearly all of them. Well, there were a few on there that I wasn't familiar with, such as Man Bites Dog, Blindness, Insanitarium and Bobby Z. Don't know anything about them, but there's rape so I'll take a chance. Those were the few that Netflix actually carried, despite their content. But there were a whole lot more that are on DVD but Netflix is still playing the same game where they list it as "DVD availability date unknown". Give me a break. Netflix, why don't you just admit that you're censoring bastards just like Blockbuster Video used to be?

Bill K: Regarding today's daily picture, sorry, Artist Unknown. Like I mentioned earlier, I often don't know who creates the pictures I put up there; I usually just find them on the net.

Caught while texting and driving? Yep, that works for me. Any reason will do. Driving while being an attractive woman? Guilty! Throw the book at her. Her punishment is 10 years of forced servitude. Ahem, I'll take care of this prisoner myself, ladies.

In the rape scene I mentioned, two guys enter a woman's apartment and immediately begin to molest her. They rip off her clothes, put her on the couch and one of the guys begins humping her vigorously. This is a very lengthy scene and the dude seems to have inexhaustible energy. Then the second guy gets his turn, although we don't see as much of that. Afterwards, they shoot her up with a drug and stuff the unconscious girl in a suitcase (really, this is amazing), with the implication that she will be delivered to her new owner in that fashion. These mugs really enjoyed their work. I watched this scene in its entirety, but don't have a lot of details on the rest of the movie...yet. It's a loaner, so I've got to work fast.

You're absolutely right. And I think the little wiggle in the toes is a nice touch too.

I can understand why some productions would put an actress tied AOH in high heels - besides keeping her feet clean, it's a way of giving the performer additional weight support without sacrificing the aesthetics of the pointed-toe look. Good for the actress, good for those who like to see the heels.

My suggestions are: if it's too stressful to have a barefooted AOH actress on tiptoes for a lengthy period of time, give her a break by letting her stand flatfooted but take the camera off her feet. And keep the floor clean.

But hey, we have producers and actresses out there...maybe they can share some insights about this topic. Love to hear from you.

My "movies to research" list includes one called Anger (1988) aka Terror in a Women's Prison aka Le Camp de la Terreur aka Angels with Golden Guns aka Virgin Apocalypse. (whew!)

Is there anyone out there who has seen this and would care to comment on/review it?

A Canadian: I do not consider myself homophobic, although there are things I like to watch and there are things I don't like to watch. Man-on-man rape is not something I care to watch. Truthfully, man-on-man kissing is also something I don't like, and I ended up fast-forwarding through almost an entire episode of the latest Torchwood season because it was a lengthy flashback of a love affair between the male protagonist and another guy. I don't feel like homosexuality is wrong or unhealthy or perverse, but watching it just is not my idea of entertainment.

But in all honesty, if I were listing the Top 10 Disturbing Rape Scenes, the list would probably consist of all man-on-man rape scenes. Because, in no uncertain terms, I do find them disturbing, as well as un-entertaining. However, I would have a hard time completing that list because if I am forewarned that's what happens, chances are good I won't watch the show. I have never seen Deliverance, for example. In fact, I am having a hard time calling to mind a single movie I've seen with male rape in it.

What I was looking for, of course, was the Top 10 Best Rape Scenes, so I had to filter the results. I still found a few titles to check out.

I also found a thread at Bloody-Disgusting.com that went on for 33 pages. By the end of the thread (yes, I read through the entire thing), I was very annoyed at the sanctimonious hypocrites and the idiotic arguments ("rape is worse than murder"). I also noticed that the originator of the thread was banned, and the thread was closed by supercilious sanctimonious self-important "Super Moderator," who posted: I think this thread has outlived its usefulness. What a dickhead. It started in 2007 and ran though 2010 with current comments. I would say that was a successful topic.

But then again, I am fairly judgmental myself when I think about a website that thrives on murder, death, destruction, torture, dismemberment, decapitation, flesh-eating, and many more fatal examples of man's inhumanity toward his fellow man self-righteously drawing some moral or ethical line at rape. Really, people? Really? You just pegged my Hypocrisy Meter. And you, Super Moderator Mr Caustic Coffee, are a conceited and egotistical house blend with delusions of Starbucks.

Some people just get my goat.

Pet peeve time! Netflix is not "censoring". They are not telling anyone what they can and cannot watch. They are selecting which movies they offer, and as a BUSINESS, have the right to select the movies they think people will want to rent. GRRRRR!

It's common to think of censorship as a government activity. However, Wikipedia posits this definition of the term:

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body.

Now, I'm going to defer to the legal eagles out there about this definition, but here's my understanding of censorship.

There are two kinds of censorship:

1) government censorship, which is allegedly unconstitutional here in the U.S., per the First Amendment, but which may include public institutions such as school districts, publicly-funded libraries, and of course, state, local and federal governments;
2) private censorship, which is practiced by such entities as textbook publishers, (non-public) library associations, religious authorities (like my Catholic school), and media outlets (as noted above), including radio, TV, print media and media distributors, e.g., Netflix and Blockbuster.

In democracies, conceptually, censorship of the first type can be legally, but sometimes fruitlessly, challenged.

However, censorship of the second type occurs all the time; finding legal grounds to challenge it is tricky. Conceptually, the issue of private censorship tends to be left to the "marketplace of ideas."

All of this is to say that even if private censorship is not explicitly illegal, it can still be controlling and reprehensible under certain circumstances. The Constitution provides a tremendous amount of leeway to media outlets (freedom of the press) and theocratic authorities (freedom of religion). They have the opportunity to disseminate as well as suppress information, ideas and images.

The opportunity for suppression is like an unlocked, parked car with the keys in the ignition - the virtuous bypasser is untempted, but the car thief is giddy.

Ok, off my soapbox and back to work.

Let's use Wal-Mart as an example. The company has massive clout with its suppliers--so much so that if Wal-Mart decides it doesn't like something (let's say, Sheryl Crow's self-titled album that contained a lyric saying that Wal-Mart sold guns), then they can arbitrarily withhold distribution through their outlets. However, since the spreading cancer of Wal-Mart stores has effectively destroyed competition in many small communities across the nation, they, in effect, control what many people have ready access to. And at the risk of insulting rural America as a whole, my feeling is that many of those people are unsophisticated, if not, well, simple people, whose worldview can easily be skewed by limited access to information. And a population of misinformed or underinformed people does not bode well for a democracy.

I'm not sure I understand what business decision would lead a video distribution company to not provide the widest possible selection of videos to its customers. I dispute your contention that it is a "business" decision at all, and suggest it is instead a decision based on someone's "moral," ethical," or "personal" feelings, which they are in a position to force onto their customers. But I cannot dispute any company's prerogative to arbitrarily decide what their customers will see. At that point it is up to discerning consumers to boycot that business in favor of one more interested in providing a better selection.

As long as you pay Netflix for poor service, Ralphus, you will increase their market share and fail to support potential competitors who may fall by the wayside. That is the sad truth.

But, jhlipton, what term would you use to describe the de facto censorship exercised by businesses instead of the word censoring, so that we may avoid pet peeving you in the future?

You can call it a "business decision", but is it a smart business decision to deny a percentage of their customers access to certain titles simply because the company doesn't, for whatever reason, like the content? Cult titles like the Ilsa movies, which Netflix used to carry but no longer does, are cult movies for a reason, because people like to watch them again and again. They're not for everyone, obviously, but why deny your customers that choice? Call it what you want, but I call it censorship.

Here's a quote from an article that John Galt linked on the forum a couple of weeks ago. It's an interview with Jerry Chandler, who runs Synapse Films:

Oh no, you are not alone my friend. I've had the same experience on the streaming side, which has been even more restricted. This after Netflix urged me to "use the streaming option and save money!"

In a strictly legal sense you are correct - there is no use of force involved. But again I would say that this definition of censorship as armed dictatorship is too narrow.

Retailers (like Netflix) can certainly manipulate and restrict your choices as befits their business "decisions". Their "right" to do so is not the issue here - no one here is advocating that they be jailed, fined or executed. That's what government censorship is about.

Let's face it - we are a niche market. Just as 1970s radio decided it would rather cater to squealing 15-year-old girls than screaming 15-year-old head-bangers, the "marketplace" is squeezing us out.

I was also very careful in my use of the phrase close to a monopoly specifically to avoid someone obfuscating my point by claiming I said Netflix was a monopoly. But I am curious. If you could name me the top five companies that go head-to-head with Netflix on a national scale and insure alternative access to sizable libraries of movies so that anyone can access anything they might want that Netflix has banned, I would appreciate it. I can't do that, any more than I can name you someone who directly competes with Amazon.

I really am under the impression that Netflix makes its deals with distributors (who have entire libraries of films or TV shows) that involve some degree of exclusivity in order to preclude competition. With exclusive rights to an entire library, any movies in that library that Netflix chooses not to make available are, essentially, unavailable to anyone else. That's the way film libraries have historically been marketed, and I think that is still business as usual.

It's the 21st Century and digital uploading/streaming has changed everything. Quite frankly, if Netflix, Blockbuster, or Amazon won't make it available, it can be digitized and found elsewhere. The demand is there; if they won't meet the need, someone else will. Private companies can do what they want; it's not government censorship. When a government bans movies or books, that's real censorship. Private companies block stuff all the time; see what happens if you try a tagged porn site at the office, for example. Those sites are often blocked on office computers. If Netflix won't make a movie available, that's their loss of revenue.

Plus they need the shelf space for the thousand or so of Harry Potter DVDs they have coming in soon.

Scribbler: Wouldn't you really only need a single original DVD in order to create a digital copy for virtually unlimited streaming purposes? DVDs do break down and wear out, but a wise business model would dictate keeping digital back-ups that could be recopied to server farms as necessary. Unlike making a paper copy of a paper copy, I don't think copying a file degrades its quality. I haven't thought about it before, but I don't see how it would. As Mr Anthony said, digital uploading and streaming has changed everything, especially in terms of archiving old movies. I'm not so sure it's about buying up surviving copies for mailing so much as its about licensing rights for streaming.

As for streaming, that's a relatively recent development and it would require two things: 1) licensing agreements and 2) source material. Ever try to find a video company that's gone out of business? They may hold the rights and you can't find them to get the agreement. Or if they're around, they may not want streaming (especially for a cult film) on the theory that eventually, they'll do it themselves. And if your source material has essentially disappeared from wear/tear/theft/non-returns over time, how are you going to rip it. In the VHS days, there were things I could never find, even checking overseas.

And John Galt: of course I would never encourage theft, and the list I provided was more to make a point--that the digital world has changed distribution models and companies had better recognize it or suffer the consequences. So, while I don't agree that Netflix not carrying something is censorship, I do think that their failure to carry something could (and should) have consequences, including forcing people (because of demand) to seek out sites like those I listed. People should, and do try to behave responsibly, but at the same time they will do what they can to meet what they perceive as a need.

Normally I would chime in on our latest censoring debate but I will decline this time around - my views are so "conspiratorial" in nature I'm not certain I buy them myself.

A few guys chase down a girl through an isolated pasture, tear off her clothes, and proceed to gang-rape her. However, the party is interrupted by the girl's friends, a gang of kick-ass biker chicks who, well, kick ass. Yeah, they beat the snot out of these guys.

From the movie reviews, it seems like things go downhill from there. One critic described it as "a rape sequence, some fighting, some nudity, more fighting, some more nudity, more fights and a couple more fights thrown in for good measure."

So whattya think, guys? Should I bother watching the rest of this? (I'll probably have to do it fast, before the movie suddenly becomes "unavailable."

And now, as a public service to Gimpers worldwide, it's time for a movie review - today we will examine a short, 20 minute run time, from the good old UK - The Dark Room by Alexander Holt and Lance Roehrig.

We have a hip young photographer who uses his dark room for multiple purposes. In the bowels of his stylish pad he has his previous chickliwick chair tied with some sort of metallic device stuffed in her pie hole. He has a monitor there where he can view callers at the door and she sees him arriving with his latest squeeze.

The new girlfriend is doing some yard work and finds what appears to be a hip bone in the garden. Inside she begins to prep dinner and hears odd noises from downstairs and goes to investigate but he interrupts her and heads down himself. Seems the ex had managed to tip her chair over and was using her metal mouthpiece to tap on the plumbing. He sedates her with an injection, cuts her loose from the chair and duct tapes her hands together in front. She taunts him and we learn he cannot function sexually with a woman unless he is inflicting pain. He then takes a series of photos as she squirms on the floor.

She manages to bite him. Now enraged, he applies a clamp to her tongue and reaches for his trusty pruning shears - a tongue snipping and voile, she shuts up. He heads upstairs and new girl notices stains on his sweater which he says are chemicals from the dark room. She sends him out on a honey-do and she goes downstairs to investigate.

There she discovers numerous photos of his previous captives before locating the ex who developed something of a speech impediment. They look at the monitor and see him return. He pursues them and knocks them unconscious. When they awake the newest chick is strapped face down on a gurney while ex is bound on the floor. He preps for a photo shoot.

He cuts the tendon behind the knee of the strapped down chick and discovers the other got loose and disappeared. As he searches for her she attacks him and the screen goes blank.

We cut scene to an art exhibit at a museum. Our villain enters and begins to chat with his latest conquest. The End

Movie Pluses - this was not done by some bunch of stoners who got together for the weekend and decided they could make a movie - all aspects of the filming are first rate from camera to sound to setting to acting - as is the premise, a charming handsome nutcase who takes photos of his captives.

Movie Minuses - the girls remain clothed - bummer - being a short the sequences are crammed together so the tortures are abbreviated - obviously, there will be blood but not overly so, no splatter fest here so that might actually be a plus.

The Verdict - these guys came oh so close to going full blown Gimp but seemed to have backed off at the last second.

My Grade C+

The Straw Dogs remake: Based on the reviews I have read, I sense it will be a letdown. Apparently, it's not much of a film, and none of the reviews suggested there was anything sexually shocking in the movie. I could be wrong but the vibes so far aren't reassuring.

In the 1971 film, there's a scene where Susan George's character goes to the window and takes off her top at the leering men out on the roof. In the remake, Kate Bosworth does the same, except they edited it so that no skin was shown. It was a major cheat, and once I saw that, I knew we were in big trouble.

The much ballyhooed and explicit rape scene in the original was badly sanitized in the remake. Kate Bosworth is wearing a tee shirt throughout. It was quickly edited with rapid-fire cutting, and while there was no doubt that it was a real rape this time (the original made it somewhat ambiguous), there was really no shock, no tension, and obviously, no eye candy for the viewer. It honestly could have been a made for TV movie.

They even screwed up the later strangulation scene with Willa Holland. Willa was adorable, very cute and fresh-faced, and she gets hand gagged and lifted up off the air by the retarded guy. But we don't even see the aftermath of what happens to her. Did she strangle? Did she suffocate? Did she even die at all? We don't know because the filmmakers didn't even care enough to finish her scene; they just cut away and we never find out.

That's really the main problem with the movie. Maybe someone who never saw the original might think more of it, but to me there was a sense of familiarity and no real surprises, and therefore, no real suspense. The Peckinpah film had a real aura of menace throughout, and honestly, the nudity really was important to the plot. The remake is...well, it's just a pale imitation with a good looking cast and little else. It made me really sad to realize that the golden age of exploitation is over. They officially just don't make explicit rape films in Hollywood anymore.

Sloth: Thanks for reviewing The Dark Room. It doesn't really sound like my cup of tea, but the description might have sucked me in. No nudity? I just don't understand these sex-crazed sociopaths who don't strip their victims naked. I'm beginning to think... there might be something wrong with them. Plus I'm not the torture porn aficionado and blood and gore don't add anything for me. But, like I said, I might have wasted time on it based on the description alone, so you saved me the disappointment.

I knew there wasn't going to be any explicit long running rape scene. That's the trend in Hollywood these days. I guess Hollywood realizes that women buy movie tickets too and they don't want to alienate the female audience. Instead they make chick flick junk like "I Don't Know How She Does It".

I live in New York so what's also depressing is that, for this market there hasn't even been a foreign film released recently with scenes of involuntary intercourse.

Kind of sad to think that the good old days of sexploitation in not only mainstream but indie film is gone.

But I'll try to remain hopeful. Maybe next year there will be a remake of "Act of Vengeance" with Cameron Diaz wearing those Daisy Dukes she wore in "Bad Teacher" and we'll get to hear her sing "Jingle Bells".

I caught a short part of Minka Kelly's upcoming AOH GIMP scene in Charlie's Angels this week and posted it on my youtube channel. Since it was short I looped it and added some music. From her reaction and bloody lip, looks like she'll be tortured a bit >;)

I know for sure it was the same huge torturer.

MAV: Wow, nice find on the "Charlie's Angels" scene. Minka Kelly is too hot, good to see her strung up by her wrists like that. In the 2 second tease we saw, she does appear to be actually suspended, but I wouldn't count on much torture, since this is network TV. Still, that's already an improvement on the original show, since bondage scenes for the Angels were few and far between. I saw another teaser where there was a bound and gagged woman on the bed. Maybe the producers will wise up and realize that the way to enhance the sexiness of their new stars is to make them victims.

Now that I have had my fun I would Like to sincerely thank all those who "take one for the team" by obtaining and reviewing "stuff" or who go to the theater to watch new releases. Over the years you all have saved me a small fortune.

One thing I find myself having to avoid is "shooting the messenger" in that most all things reviewed recently 'are not my cup of tea'.

Yes, of course. I guess my head is in Netflix DVD rentals cause that's what I do, I've never tried their streaming. One of the reasons for that though is I've read that Netflix has many more movies for DVD rentals than they have for streaming. Maybe they're trying to get there DVD rental vs streaming numbers closer together so they're removing DVD titles! I read some Bollywood movies they used to have are gone too, so it's not all about censoring GIMPlike stuff (no, I don't watch Bollywood movies, I was googling about movies Netflix no longer carries). I Spit On Your Graveis still there.

Mr. Anthony is probably right about licensing for streaming movies. Must be why some movies aren't available for streaming. Could also be Netflix's capacity for streaming as many movies as they have available on DVD isn't possible yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a couple Ilsa and other cult movies on DVD that they'll never rent again, but will rip to their streaming servers someday and make available again. Or maybe not. Who knows?

I really like the pic you posted today as well. It has a strong Amateur vibe to it. I love it when I find pics out on the Internet where it looks like some dude posted photos from his private stash of old girl friend pics. The realism of it trumps all of the glossy, done in the studio pics that are out there in abundance.

That blog you linked also looks interesting. It has info about a lot of movies of the kind that I like, but unfortunately are not available in uncut versions...yet.

Kate hasn't exactly been a regular fixture on Mr. Skin, if you know what I mean. Very little nudity in her career. But I'm not sure that she accepted the role and then made demands that she wasn't going to get naked. I really don't think the director intended to film the scene with nudity like Peckinpah did. It was a different time back then. Unless someone proves me wrong, I'll contend that major motion pictures, for the most part, no longer film explicit rape scenes, period. Whether it's because of changing audience expectations or else fear of the MPAA censors, they have mostly gone the way of the dinosaur.

Ralphus and Dangerous Dave: The movie review I mentioned at Ain't It Cool News actually discussed how the Straw Dogs remake misfired on every level. Even if you eviscerate the rape scene, the original featured a meek and mild-mannered guy, if not a physically weak man, who uncharacteristically resorted to brutal violence in response to a threat to him and his slutty wife. The husband in the remake was none of those things. How far away from the original concept can you get and still call it a remake? What's this director going to do next? Remake The Godfather except without, you know, Italian mobsters? Give me a break.

Good movie, Shuttle. It could have been a great movie, but the script was just a little too wordy in places. Specifically, the scene where the driver says, "Strip. Underwear stays on." Needed to trim the dialogue by 75%.

I shouldn't have to defend my actions here, but I'll do it anyway. First off, I'm not happy that DHT had a temper tantrum and said he was leaving. Hopefully he'll get over it and come back. It's not good for the forum to see one of our regular posters disappear. I like DHT and think he does a fine job of contributing here. I even enjoyed his Olivia Munn video links, even though I had already seen 2 of them before. Bottom line is they just don't belong on a forum about extreme bondage videos. They didn't even have bondage in them at all.

Let's see someone go over to Brian's Page and try to post them there. They would automatically be deleted, along with Brian's ubiquitous deleted post message saying why they were taken off. In fact, he'll delete a bare video link if you don't explain what it's about in your post. Who wants to sit through a 10-minute video wondering what it is you're supposed to be looking for?

I at least left them on the board, along with gently scolding DHT that they were off-topic. And I do allow occasional digressions, such as the posts about Scarlett Johannson's nude pictures. I don't moderate with a heavy hand; I try to keep things fairly loose around here. But if I come to a site about bondage, I don't want to read posts about why Obama is ruining the country, about Katy Perry's new video, about the reality TV star who got breast implants that made her look like a Barbie doll, about whether or not O.J. Simpson killed his wife, or about seeing a picture of Abraham Lincoln shitting (and yes, we got a post like that a few weeks ago. I killed it). They may be perfectly interesting topics, but unless they are about Girls In Merciless Peril, they don't really belong here on this forum.

My job as moderator is to keep the forum talking about the theme of the site, tied-up women. I'm not trying to piss people off, but it's impossible not to sometimes. Anybody wants to criticize me, go for it, I can take it. I think I do a decent job of running things around here and making this a good site to visit.

That was from Scene of the Crime, one of the very first ZFX videos I ever saw, and I totally agree, Drew looked fantastic all trussed up and tape-gagged. I wish I had some better stills, but if you look on Scene 3 of the page I linked, there's some thumbs of her in bondage. I sympathize with good companies like Synapse, which I've supported monetarily in the past (I own their fine edition of "Singapore Sling", probably one of the greatest films ever). Even though I admit to using torrents and direct downloading (torrenting is a godsend for hard to find films on private trackers like Cinemageddon, probably one of my favorite websites), I do try to support films that I see and enjoy...one that I made certain to do this with recently was "Let The Right One In" (and, actually, some studies that they've conducted have shown that "pirates" actually tend to do this). However, I actually don't really have much sympathy for the MPAA's/RIAA's whining about intellectual property rights. The music industry especially, you want to talk about pirates, those guys have done more looting from the coffers of musicians than internet pirates can ever hope to do. The VAST majority of revenue to musicians comes from playing shows, not album sales.

In any case, I'm not particularly nostalgic about the way things used to be done, in regards to the entertainment industries. Dinosaurs must die, and people are going to have to adapt, because liberatory technology is evolving at a faster rate than restrictive technology. I mean, ffs, people are selling illegal drugs over the internet now using anonymous computer systems, I hardly think that the war is going to be won against people hosting content illegally. But, if you do enjoy some sort of content, you should reward the producers of said content, especially if it's a smaller, independent label that might not be getting a ton of revenue.

Also, regarding "Shuttle": gotta disagree. Didn't like it at all. I watched it as a horror fan, though, not a bondage/GIMP fan. For horror I thought it failed; it stretched the ol' suspension of disbelief factor even more so than most horror films, and I thought the ending was just a cheap ploy by the filmmakers to give the film some emotional hit in what was otherwise a very bland film.

Actually, Scene of the Crime is the only Drew Phoenix movie I have seen. I definitely agree that her scenes were the highlight of the film.

The mobster pins Amber against a wall and makes advances at her. He tries to kiss her and stroke her tits. She resists and pushes him away. That force also throws her to the floor. When she lands on the floor the rapist pulls her body toward him. The mobster gets on her and touches her including her leg. Amber tries to fight off her rapist fiercely. Then there's a stupid cutaway to male star walking to the isolated area. Amber is still putting up a good fight. Legs spread apart. The mobster looks like he might succeed. But the male star hears a noise, rushes into the room, pulls the thug back and Amber kicks him in the neck with her stiletto.

For a broadcast show it's good enough especially with Amber dressed as a bunny. If we can't have rape in movies, I'm happy to see it on TV.

I've been checking out some of the "Slave Castle" series lately. I haven't been too impressed. I'm someone who likes lezdom a great deal when it's done right, but the problem is Slave Castle...isn't done right. Dressing the lead domme ("Riria") up like a weird anime character and having her cackle, as in one particular scene I saw, is not lezdom done right. Riria in general doesn't really impress me with her domming skills. That's not to say the series doesn't have some good spots...I only saw two of the videos, but in one the lead actress looks genuinely ashamed/humiliated when she has to go down on another woman. But overall I wouldn't give it high marks.

I've been checking out some of the "Slave Castle" series lately. I haven't been too impressed.

Can't say I blame you. I was a fan of the original Slave Island series but most of the slave films that have followed that series haven't done it for me. Something got lost along the way.

This month's Slave Party was pretty tame.

This month's Slave Investigator was alright, and the closest to the Slave Island series that Attackers has made since that ended. They're launching it as a full series from the start, with the 2nd entry already finished before the 1st was released.

It plays up the forced pregnancy theme, Pine Shizuka gets killed AGAIN, which makes me think she generally has a snuff-fetish and asks for these scenes, and there are 4 slaves that are more than just background characters. However, it isn't quite as dark and depressing as the Slave Island series.

I haven't seen Slave Color 17 anywhere. I guess people aren't even bothering with that series anymore... a bit of a shame, as the Slave Fiance and Slave Teacher entries are actually pretty good.

Thank you for the spirited debate, and for recognizing the seriousness with which I am trying to get the public to understand what is being glossed over on the nightly news. A movie like mine is not going to make someone a child predator who is not already disposed to be one, and your comments are a welcome validation that the spirit in which "Megan Is Missing" was created can be correctly interpreted by an intelligent viewership with an open mind.

Michael Goi: It is so cool to hear from producers. I was on the side of the spirited debate you probably didn't agree with. Without minimizing the seriousness of sexual crimes against children, I disagree that cases like these are glossed over in the media. I believe rare but potentially sensationalistic crimes--especially sex crimes and most especially sex crimes involving children--are broadcast and rebroadcast ad infinitum to drive up TV viewership by satisfying the salacious sensibilities of a sick society while forcing the victims and/or surviving friends and families to re-live the horror over and over and over. We can disagree about that.

But it is your movie, of course, and my interpretation is my own. I would not begin to try to pontificate on your motivation. Remember the classic Marshall McLuhan scene from Annie Hall? I'm not going to be that guy in line.

My world is so prosaic in comparison. It's nice to be reminded there are places where knee-jerk religious oppression doesn't dictate the societal limitations of everyday life. And I'm not referring to the world of Maleficarum, either. Although I am kind of appreciative that my Internet access doesn't go down all that much. I don't think I owe that to puritanical religious fundamentalists, though. I suspect if those folks had their way, my Internet would go down a lot, especially since it is constantly accessing content they would disapprove of.

Looking forward to Maleficarum. Be sure to let us know how we can secure our very own DVDs or downloads.

Your film brought strong reactions from our readers, and we're guys who are used to looking at bondage, rape and torture films on a regular basis. The fact that you could shock even us is an indication that you did a good job making it. As a filmmaker, you want to have an impact and make your viewers hopefully think about your message. I don't think a lot of us will ever casually dismiss another missing person story on the news after seeing your film.

John Galt: I agree with what you said about these types of stories, namely missing person cases involving young, attractive women, are indeed prevalent in the media. That's one of the points Michael Goi was trying to make, and indeed, none too subtly in having parts of the film show how the Megan case was being covered on the local television news and even recreated in a cheesy crime reenactment show. While the media may have good intentions, these stories often end up as sensationalistic exploitation. Like I mentioned in my review, they jump on the stories where the victim is pretty, while similar missing persons cases are virtually ignored if the missing person doesn't meet their criteria. Sad but totally true.

In Cincinnati, Ohio near where I live, the top story for the past month has been about this missing woman, 22 years old, beautiful and white. They even brought in a nationally renowned rescue team this past week to help search for her, the same team who searched for Natalee Holloway and Casey Anthony's daughter. At the very same time, another woman the exact same age also turned up missing, except this woman is black, badly overweight and mentally retarded. And you never hear anything about her. Where's her rescue team? Presumably, the media doesn't even care about this story because they don't consider her as newsworthy.

I was able to view the scene and here's my take: a brand new series, the very first show, the first 4 minutes and there's already an attempted rape scene with the most attractive woman on the show. I absolutely love it. The scene itself was too brief for my tastes (that's network TV for you) but I love that they know exactly what turns men on...sexy women as victims. You might not have read my previous reply to you since it had already scrolled off, but would it be possible to release the Maleficarum DVD with an additional commentary track? I know I would love to hear Jane and JJ discussing the ins and outs of making this movie, and it might encourage others to buy the DVD instead of taking the illegal step of trying to download it somewhere from file sharers. Aside from a making-of documentary, that would be the ultimate DVD extra. Is this something you would be able to do?

Years ago, I was filming a movie in a small town in Texas. The sheriff from a neighboring town stopped by to watch the filming, and he invited me over to his town to see "the head." About ten years earlier, the head of a middle-aged Mexican man was found on the side of the road near his town. No body, just the head. The sheriff called federal law enforcement, and they told him to put the head on ice and they would assign an investigator to the case. So they put him in the freezer in the office, and there he'd been for ten years. I asked the sheriff, "You're giving tours of the head??!!" He told me it was alright because I was a filmmaker, like he was saying I was a doctor or something. Now, I have to think that if this was a blonde, 16 year old female instead of a middle-aged Mexican man, the law and the media would be all over the case. But the reality is that this man's head was in that freezer (and may still be for all I know) for at least ten years with no one looking into who he was or how he died.

The technical advisor for my film, who is a forensics investigator, was involved in an ongoing investigation into the murders of 19 boys, mostly black and Hispanic from lower class homes, over the last 7 years. The murders stretched from Toronto down to Mississippi, and are obviously the work of the same killer. He asked if I had ever heard of these murders, and I told him I had never heard of any of them. He said that was exactly the problem; they couldn't get the news wires to drum up any interest in these boys because they fit the profile of runaways and they were "ethnically not good television."

I think there needs to be a 24 hour cable station with nothing but reports of missing children. All children, not just the cute, white female ones. My friend Marc Klaas is trying to push through a program that would install television monitors in every truckstop in the country with up to the minute reports of abducted children. Since truckers are on the road more hours than an average person, they have a high potential to view an Amber alert vehicle quite rapidly after an alert has been posted.

Sorry for the long post, but this subject of child safety is one that I feel strongly about. So strongly that I made an entire movie on the subject. And whether you agree or disagree with my movie or how I made it (yes John, I mean you!), I like the fact that it has inspired discussion and debate, because that means it has been experienced.

I watch movies for entertainment, not for education or "a message." For that reason, I want my victims to be pretty white girls, although really, pretty girls of almost any ethnicity works for me. I would not watch a movie with unattractive, overweight, old, handicapped or otherwise, um, undesirable females because I am not interested in what might happen in the Real World; I am looking to satisfy my prurient interests. I freely admit that, and I don't think I am alone in my preferences. But I am unapologetic because I am watching a movie and the movie is an entertainment vehicle being made to appeal to the greatest number of viewers. I am not watching the news, and I think it is absolutely unacceptable that the news skews itself to appeal to the greatest number of viewers as well. It's the FUCKING NEWS and it has an OBLIGATION to report what is happening, not just the things that get good ratings. Mass Media = Epic Fail.

You appear to have made your movie to make a point. It sounds like maybe it was a "message" movie. At which point you lost me, as I abhor "message" movies. But kudos for wanting to make a difference because there are far too few people in the world who want to make a difference any more.

However, if your goal was to bring attention to how the media spends all its time publicizing and wailing about abducted pretty white girls while pointedly ignoring the "ethnically not good television" victims, I'm not sure how making a movie featuring abducted pretty white girls as victims did that. If you were attempting to convey how the media go overboard for some victims and should throttle back, well, I did not get that from your movie at all. If you were being ironic by showing the brief clip about Turcel Jackson in the midst of the media blitz about Megan, well, I think maybe you were far too subtle, and I seriously doubt if very many people picked up on that reporting discrepancy, being far more excited about what misfortune was in store for pretty white Megan.

It was a bold movie to make, though, and I hope people got the message you intended, whatever that message was, which I hope was more nuanced than "kidnapping children is A Bad Thing."

And by the way, I thought it really sucked that they left The Nine Lives of Chloe King on a serious cliffhanger and then didn't renew it for another season. If you run into any of the nimrods who made the bonehead decision to leave their viewers hanging like that, pass along my contempt. Thanks. (The series had nice cinematography, though.)

And really, almost all films have messages in them. Even the most moronic slasher films may be interpreted as an indication of our society's views on promiscuity. Perhaps straightfoward pornography would fall outside this category, but generally speaking all films contain little trappings of the ideology/social order they were bred in, making the message movie a matter of scale more than anything else, IMO.

Bummer. I was hoping this would be fairly good show, kinda like "Chuck" or "Alias" but alas...nope. There was other bondage, but nothing great (not to me anyway). I predict the message viewers or future lack of viewers will send this show is "cancel this lame show."

That said, the idea of monitors in truck stops is inspired - the best informants I ever had were on the road, whether that be urban or highway, trucker or cabbie - not only do they see a lot, the KNOW a lot in that arena - hope that works out for you Michael Goi.

So touring the YouTube wasteland I stumbled across this yesterday at the above link - judging from the posters name he's exclusively chloro and not into bondage - this scene from the latest Dunwich Horror looks chopped - I wonder if there is additional bondage/torment footage before she's sacrificed to "the dark one"? - if anyone has seen the movie please let me know.

You and me both. That's why it was smart of Michael Goi to make a film about pretty, white girls. Minka Kelly suspended and tazed on Charlie's Angels: That was a pleasure to watch Minka Kelly get tortured, although again, typical of TV, it was painfully short. I was hoping for something along the lines of Rhona Mitra's bravura suspension scene in Doomsday, but it's still Minka Kelly and I'll take what I can get. I'll see if I can get that added to the Torture Rack Database soon.

I did manage to get a couple of promising Gimp-ish Kindle short stories recently -- "Jimmy", which was briefly reviewed here earlier and is definitely worth the buck for the depictions of two helpless hanging girl victims (particularly the first) -- and "Let's Go Play At The Adams 2", a sequel of sorts to the awesome full-length novel, which I have not finished yet, but which so far seems to be spectacularly pointless, from a GIMP perspective.

I'll post again if the latter story becomes more interesting...

It is apparent that we both agree that the cases of abductees who are "ethnically not good television" do not get the same airplay as, say, pretty white girls.

Ethnic background is a huge factor in how much coverage these cases get, but it's not the only one. The attractiveness of the victim is also a factor, as Canadians saw years ago in the coverage of the disappearance of the two teenage girls who were ultimately killed by Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. Perhaps some expert could prove me wrong, but I would say the disappearance of the first girl -- who was average looking, and came from a family on the wrong side of the tracks -- didn't attract nearly as much attention as the disappearance of the second girl, a homecoming queen type from a good family.

But I'm thinking, how could they have possibly written a sequel to this book, since the author is dead, and presumably all the rights to the original story and characters died along with him, right? Plus that, Barbara the babysitter died at the end of the book, so where are they going to go with the story? The children who performed the deed the first time grow up, have kids of their own, hire a babysitter for them, then tie her up?

I recall years ago there was a writer on Brian's Page named Pat Powers who wrote an alternate final chapter for the first book, making it so that Barbara survived. I never finished reading it, so I'm not sure what exactly happened, and I can't find any trace of it anywhere on the net. One thing I remember that was disconcerting was he screwed up the name of Paul (my favorite character) and called him "Peter" this time around. Maybe he was thinking of the Peter Paul candy company? Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

Anyway, my dream someday is that someone will make a movie out of the book, but I might as well dream of winning the lottery and marrying Amber Heard because there's no way that could ever happen. It's an unfilmable book, since it involves a fully nude adult female victim and 5 underage kids interacting with her, not to mention raping and torturing her. No way they could ever pull that off without ruining it, unless they were to severely sanitize it like they did with The Girl Next Door.

Oh, and you might enjoy the video more if you mute your speakers.

Ralphus: Mixing up "Peter" and "Paul" isn't that unusual. They are two of the biggest misogynists in early Christianity and most American Christians have most likely grown up conflating the two.

I also jumped to the Amazon page describing Let's Go Play at the Adams 2, anxious to see how anyone could write a sequel. From the description, it sounds like a sequel in name only. It "follows all the links left by Johnson"? A double murder in a national forest? Hmm. I will be interested in hearing a follow-up report from SharedJoy.

Speaking of clothes-ripping, I caught a good scene the other day from a movie called The Vampire Journals. A beautiful dark-haired woman in a flowing, gossamer gown is running down the hallway of a huge mansion. She almost makes it to the door when the vampire she is fleeing from catches her from behind and rips open the left half of her dress, from shoulder to waist. The scene is shot in about half-slo-mo. It's very nicely done and atmospheric...like somebody out there read my mind.

The movie itself is average vampire stuff. But it does have a prevailing gothic mood and features some lovely naked vampire eurobabes.

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention that for the benefit of others who are similarly obsessed with the forceful and non-consensual rending of womens' garments.

I noticed on your Cinematography list (as provided by IMDb) that you also did a piece on the Atlanta "child murders" - which mostly involved boys and young men with minority backgrounds and/or disabilities. So in fairness, it's not as if you have completely ignored that aspect in your work.

The Bamboo House of Dolls whipping scene is one of my favorites, although I can't really put my finger on why that is so. Maybe it's the combination of the clothes-ripping and the overall cruelty of the scene. Those are the sharpest images I've seen from that movie.

As I understand it, you can self-publish ANYTHING on Kindle, so long as the rights-owners don't complain. With Johnson dead, if no heirs or publishers exist (or care enough about the property to notice and make a fuss), then it's all good.

(Of course, if they do, Amazon has been known to delete already-sold copies of books from our devices and refund the money if WE complain, so it could theoretically vanish any second.)

"Let's Go Play at the Adams' 2" is about a detective solving several murders/missing people in the woods, 20 years after the first book, and is told completely from the detective's perspective. The bodies we start the story with (one male, one female), have been burned/mutilated in a fashion familiar to readers of the first book, and were "discovered" by a forest ranger named... Paul McVeigh.

I'm more skimming than properly reading, and am currently at the 50% mark. So far, I've found nothing of interest for Gimpers. Will keep you posted...

Well, to be honest, I skimmed through the movie hoping to quickly ferret out the GIMP scenes, but I don't recall anything that measured up to this one. Fortunately, it occurs immediately after the opening credits, so anyone who is not particularly interested in vampire movies can skip the rest without missing much. I should really go back and give it more thorough look to make sure nothing has been ignored.

The lovely victim is played by Rodica Lupu, who hasn't made another movie since. *sigh* BTW, the movie was made in Romania, which probably lends a lot to the ambience. The plot concerns a male reformed vampire who is a vampire slayer. It came out in 1997, the same year we saw the appearance of a similar character, Angel, in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series. But this fellow's modus operandi is to chop vampires' heads off with a sword.

If you search YouTube, you'll probably find a lot more. A lot of times the bondage isn't that severe, but you're right, those Latin actresses are often quite hot. John Galt: Another nice review, thank you. Your review is in my Homepage URL above. I saw Meridian, mostly in fast-forward, years ago when it came out, hoping for something good. As much I loved seeing both Charlie Spradling (schwing!) and Sherilyn Fenn (double schwing!) naked, a couple of drugged, non-forceful "rapes" with no bondage didn't really do it for me. After seeing her in "Twin Peaks" where she got bound, gagged, injected with heroin and forced to make a kidnap video, I was hoping that Sherilyn Fenn would have a GIMP-worthy career. That never really materialized, unless you count the film where she gets her arms and legs cut off and she's kept in a box in Boxing Helena. That was actually a pretty good film, although obviously, not for every taste.

TV Alert: The trailer for the Thursday night episode of CW's Vampire Diaries shows the cheerleader-turned-vampire character played by Candice Accola (Deadgirl) in peril. She's strapped to a chair in a dungeon-like basement setting, wearing a slinky LBD (or is it a slip?) and looking very hot.

BTW, I've added that show's stunning leading lady, Nina Dobrev, to my favorite-dark-haired-babe list, with the status of "future ex-trophy-wife".

jhlipton: Like you, I was disappointed in Charlie Spradling's quick exit from Angel of Destruction.

A potential improvement would have been for the bad guy to knock Charlie unconscious, drag her to the back of the building, swing his car around back and stuff her in his trunk for later amusements.

I began to lose interest in the movie soon after her demise, and still haven't seen it all the way through.

Re-Animator not only has a great bondage near-rape scene, it's a damn fine horror film in its own right. One of my real favorites, just a very entertaining film from beginning to end. My DVD copy has been AWOL for a few years (I strongly suspect one of my ex-friends stole it) so the fact that I can get a new one for less than 6 bucks is good news. Guys, if you haven't seen this movie, go find it and watch it. You won't regret it, it's a lot of fun.

In fact, if you're looking for tied-up women, you couldn't go wrong with many of director Stuart Gordon's other films, either. I've brought this up on the forum before, but his track record for making films with bondage scenes is uncanny...check out his body of work. Besides Re-Animator, you've got:

I like pictures in reviews and on the forum in general as well. YikYakker's pictures of Candice Accola from the Vampire Diaries teaser makes all the difference between an informative post and an eye-catching informative post. I wish it was easier for everyone to host and post images and we might see it a lot more.

I know I'm going to get the usual response of "How dare they charge for something that used to be free???!!!", but DarkFetishNet (see link above) has a lot of good whipping clips, both mainstream and "fetish". It's about $5 per month, or $50 per year, which is not too bad for so many clips.

So what has roused me from my slumber? Why Ralphus, of course. To agree and disagree with his recent comments about two scenes.

First the "disagree" part. Unlike Ralphus, I found the rack scene in PIT AND THE PENDULUM to be extremely disappointing. Here is a film that has a great scene of the absolutely stunning Rona De Ricci (and isn't it a shame she didn't appear in more films?) being forced to strip in front of her inquisitors, yet, when we next see her on the rack ... her torturers have put her clothes back on !! When does that ever happen to a victim? "Witch, we're going to torture you now, so, here, put your clothes back on !!" Can anyone tell me how that makes sense in the slightest? Imagine that scene with her wearing what she was wearing in the previous scene -- nothing. Have I got this right or does Ralphus?

Now the "agree" part, though. I think that the scene in DAGON is one of the hottest I've seen. Beautiful actress. Horrific setting with an angry and bloodthirsty crowd watching. A frantic and struggling woman (whose clothes are not put back on !!). And just when it appears that she may be rescued ... sorry, you're too late, Mr. Hero. Unlike the De Ricci scene, this one exceeds expectations, and I think that Ralphus and I both have this one right.

Bill K - a Gimper can do far worse than tuning into "Criminal Minds" - don't recall the title but thus far my fave episode concerned a taxi driver offing his victims because they smelled right - holding them and eventually lowering their naked bodies into a chemical bath of some sort while strapped to a clear platform - outstanding.

YikYakker - at the above link that scene from "Re-Animator" seems to be available - the poster advertises it as the uncut version but I've not viewed it myself yet.

Eda - for all the reasons you listed I concur with your assessment of the rack scene from "Pit and the Pendulum" - ditto your assessment on "Dagon" - the lady is drop dead gorgeous and absolutely sells that scene - probably not that difficult surrounded by chanting fish faces - that scene is always an instant stiffy - one day I hope to discover what it was with Lovecraft and his fascination with tentacled creatures whether they be land, sea or air.

Well, that's not totally accurate. After she has her clothes removed for them to search for the witch's mark, when we see her next, she's been given clothes and thrown into a cell for the night. The torture rack scene occurs the next day, and yeah, she's still wearing the clothes they gave her the previous night.

Still, point taken. In a perfect world, or at least in a perfect movie, she would be kept totally naked for the rest of the film. Especially in this case, because they gave us full-frontal eye candy earlier in the film. And rack scenes are kind of silly with clothes. You don't give her any kind of dignity by allowing her to wear clothes while being tortured. The idea is to break her, and frankly, to enjoy watching her suffer while doing so. So why deny yourself that pleasure when you're in charge?

Hey, can't have everything. I thought The Pit and the Pendulum had great potential but Rona was mostly wasted. Plus that, the movie had not one but 2 burnings at the stake, one with an ugly woman who's already dead, and the other with the old hag. Hey guys, what about the cute naked chick? Burn her!

Anyway, here's the rack scene with Rona De Ricci. I liked it, but I agree, naked would have been better.

As for Pit and the Pendulum, this is one I have not yet seen except for clips of the two scenes you mentioned. Taken separately, they are each fine in their own right, although any rack scene is better with a naked victim. But put in context as you have done, I would agree that it does not make sense to put a victim's clothing back on (unless one has my perversion, and wants to continually put the clothes on, rip them off, put them on, rip them off, etc.).

Besides the above-mentioned Dagon, I've also seen From Beyond and Castle Freak. I'd meant to review Castle Freak, but somehow it slipped downward on my list; now I can't even remember what GIMPage was included. I'll just have to watch it again.

The bondage scene on last night's Vampire Diaries was pretty decent for network TV. Candice Accola is bound to a sturdy chair with iron clasps that fasten around her wrists and ankles. The torture takes the form of a hinged metal "window" that her tormenter temporarily opens to expose her to sunlight, thus burning her flesh, mainly around the upper back, shoulders and upper arms because of the angle. This is done repeatedly in an effort to force the vampirette to make a decision that she refuses to make. Naturally she is rescued, but not before suffering a major sunburn. I thought Candice Accola did a fine job of conveying agony and distress. The scene is occasionally interrupted by cutaways to another plot development. The title of this episode is "The End of the Affair".
