To celebrate the 14th anniversary of the GIMP I dared submit a story for consideration, and Ralphus has honored me in uploading it on the site. The story is set in a scenario based on the well-known "Logan's Run" movie, so it's a kinda science-fiction story. The general actions is related to the "enemy-agent-interrogation" theme, so no "innocents girls and pervs" here (well, almost). I also rather the action not to be completely explicit, to leave more space to the readers' imagination and skip boresome detail. You'll find a couple of little homages, also. The scenario is all but closed with this story, for the sake of completeness, though I feel it has enormous potential. Hope you take some time to read it (it's a short one) and eventually like it!

El Wananchi

The film starts off with the discovery of a raped and murdered victim of a serial killer. This is followed by a boyfriend, who happens to be in charge of the serial killer investigation, telling his girlfriend that it's probably not a good idea to go shopping in the immediate future. But of course she tells him I'll be fine and goes shopping the following day anyway.

Miley (played by Mae) gets followed and then gets cloro'd in the take down scene. She is then taken back to the killer's residence where he starts out with a pussy appetizer while she's still out.

Miley now comes to as she tries to fight but is slapped, choked and overpowered until getting her hands tied behind her back.

With hands now tied, the fun begins with Miley being forced to suck cock, followed by her rape.

Now comes the no-witness time as our serial killer mercilessly strangles Miley.

The film ends with the killer picking up the body and leaving it outside in a doorway to be found. A very intense performance by Mae makes this a must see IMO. Though she's got a few tats, she's also got a very sweet little body with natural tits and a very nice pussy. I'm a tat-hater myself. And I've also get a foot fetish....and Mae's got some nasty tats on her feet, which normally is a deal-breaker for me.....but I keep cumming back over and over to this one.

I subscribe to a Google group (Boilerplant) that will every now and then feature artworks of women being spanked, and try as I might, I just can't get into the whole fetish. I can certainly understand its appeal, a woman getting her bare ass reddened, and it's obviously a form of torture, along the lines of whipping. But I guess my problem is it all comes across as a consensual punishment. Usually the woman is bent over someone's lap to be punished, as opposed to being tied down. To me, that's the biggest reason it just doesn't turn me on. A woman being spanked could easily just get up and run away if she wanted, whereas if she's tied into place, that takes away that option. Most of his greatest works were from the 1970s, back when you could show full nudity and violence, and Jess knew what he liked and didn't hold back, even though many of his films were censored for Western audiences. It's only been recently that Franco has gotten his deserved recognition among cinephiles for his large body of work. He really was a groundbreaking artist in many ways. I know Amy and Jac Avila were influenced by his work, and so were a lot of other of today's filmmakers.

When Lina Romay, his biggest star, muse and common-law wife passed away last year, I knew that was a bad sign. I was certain that Jess would likely soon follow her, since that seemingly always happens with longtime couples...when one dies, the other one follows not long afterward. It's really sad. I was a big fan of Franco, and while not everybody here may be familiar with his movies, watch the top of the site in the days to come. We'll be honoring Franco's work by highlighting some of the great scenes in his long career.

GIMP Poll: I'm in agreement with Ralphus and Sloth regarding spanking. I'm a big fan of whipping, and I've noticed that some sites feature both whipping and spanking. But whipping is at or near the top of the things I like, while spanking is near the bottom. In general:

~ spanking focuses only on one part of the victim's anatomy, and often the other parts - which I am more interested in viewing - are covered or clothed;

~ as already mentioned, spanking is usually done without any physical restraints, which reduces the "merciless" aspect of it;

~ often, the victim is portrayed as consenting to the punishment, and even enjoying it.

Now I'll concede that out there in the ether, one can find images of spanking scenarios that do include restraint, complete nudity and lack of consent. But it's probably mixed in with a lot of other stuff that I'm not interested in, so it's a waste for me to devote a lot of resources to finding it when I can put them to better use going after the harder stuff that ranks higher on my list of priorities, i.e., does a better job of getting me off.

*sigh* Jess Franco: What can I say about him that has not already been said? I just recently finished watching one of his pre-Lina Romay flicks, Love Camp, in which every actress appears either totally naked or topless for extended periods throughout the movie. There are two GIMP scenes: a double-whipping (in the database) and a scene in which the bitchy camp commanderette murders Esther Studer's vagina with the handle of a riding crop. Good lord. Who could make a "mainstream" movie like that today?

I enjoyed the scene where Lisa Kinkaid got spanked in Voodoo Dolls 2: Ritual.

I also liked the spanking scene in the old B&D Productions (Bon-Vue) movie, Abduction on Devil's Peak.

Not many other spanking scenes struck me as memorable, though.

Against my better judgement I bought this one basically for two reasons. Riley Shy, and Riley Shy totally nude. I knew the premise for the movie was consensual, but I thought at least there would be a struggle when things start to go too far. Instead, Riley just takes from behind and strangles to death with her ass up in the air right up till the end. No bondage. No struggle....Nothing. Boring (to me anyway) and a waste of money.

The other one is from PKF called Spring Break (Part 2). Thought I'd go ahead and do a quick photo review on this one.

Part 2 (didn't see part 1) opens with a kidnap victim thrown onto a bed with her hands cuffed behind her. Her two kidnappers strip her and re-cuff her wrists to a spreader bar for some anal rape.

The anal continues as both take turns, even filming the action. They then uncuffs her wrists and turn her over as they continue raping her now vaginally.

As the rape continues, the victim begins to get strangled.

After climaxing on her stomach, they finish her off. The two keep her around as they rape her corpse a few more times.

A lot of good....and some not so good on this one (just my opinion of course). Jizzabelle plays the victim and is an all natural, light-skinned beauty, with no tats. She puts out a pretty good performance except for one thing. She never utters a word.....and she's un-gagged a good part of the film. You would think there would be some pleading here or there. Instead just moaning and crying.

Next there is the un-cuffing of the wrists. And even though her hands are restrained most of the time, they are not 100% of the time. So when her gag gets put back into her mouth, she could have easily have pulled it back down. Amongst other things she could have done with free hands.

Then on a personal level, they strip her but keep her shoes on. A visual turn-off for me....but that's just me.

So have to give this one 3 1/2 HandiWipes (C+). Probably higher if I didn't mind the shoe factor.

If you're letting the person you're spanking get free you're not doing it right.

You put the woman over the one leg and hold her down with the other. Those hands can thrash about trying to stop you but it adds to your pleasure as she bucks around. There's a world of difference between putting your victim in merciless peril and merely making her uncomfortable. Since this forum is about the former, I'm not surprised the poll results are looking a bit lopsided.

I was really interested in making a review about this movie, because of the performance by its star (Miss Kotomi Asakura) and its shocking ending which to date, still leaves me in awe. And to contribute in any way possible to the GIMP community.

This movie is done by the fine folks at Giga, producers of Japanese Adult Videos which implement the use of Japanese sci-fi style FX and stories involving heroines who get raped by cheesy looking goons or monsters; and in some cases, their endangerment takes those given heroines to meet their erotic demise. Which is usually done in way more gruesome and cruel ways when Giga releases a film under their Zeus sub-divisional brand.

The story under review here is: Unjust Execution Heroine - Magical Idol Girl Star Light Rinka. Kotomi Asakura portrays the titular character Rinka, who here is a magical girl heroine who doubles as a Japanese pop singer (it seems her identity as a superheroine is public). She is a direct parody of the character Ranka Lee from the latest Macross anime, in which the aforementioned character is just a pop singer rather than a super heroine.

The movie opens with a scene of her capturing some masked thug without much effort, and then we pass to the opening credits with Rinka doing a performance as she is mentioned on a newscast. Someone is watching this newscast, some sinister looking old man. He later receives a video message from another sinister looking individual, and it seems they are planning something with Rinka.

Onto the next scene, we see Rinka happily with whom it seems is her agent and a woman who is her assistant/make-up girl. Seems like they were just planning out to start their day job as usual, when all of the sudden the sinister looking old man appears along with other men in suits. It seems the man is the police chief and is sick and tired on how Rinka has made the police department look bad, as she alone has done a better job against crime than he and his men. And it seems the best way to get rid of her is to turn her also into a criminal by framing her of a crime. And that crime is drug possession. How will this be done? Well, one of his suits plants a bag of drugs in Rinka's purse; they pull it out and that marks the end of Rinka's colorful days. Not even her agent knows what to do, and Rinka's martyrdom begins.

Once taken into custody, Rinka is taken into an interrogation room; but to her misfortune, there is no good cop. Just a bad cop who trashes her around like no tomorrow to the point of making her bleed. Probably he was trying to force her to "confess her crime" despite we all truly know what is going on.

Still my Japanese is limited so I am not sure if she confesses or not, but later the police chief arrives with a paper, which seem to be the order to take her to jail. And the media spread the news that their goody two shoes heroine might be a dirty drug dealer.

At prison, Rinka is getting her profile done. But not enough with having her mug shots taken, they hot iron brand her prison number in her right butt cheek. It is such a beautiful de-humanizing scene how the number 4100 is branded into her tender skin.

A short scene comes next where Rinka is sleeping in her cell after her terribly unjust torment, then the police chief comes in with some food for Rinka. He throws it out at her so she can eat it like the junkie bitch she is. Like anyone else would eat after receiving such a pain in the arse.

The next scene has Rinka being showered with a hose, something usually seen in prison films. Ironically, she is clothed during the scene, but as she is chained from the roof, she is defenseless to avoid such punishment. After that she is taken in to entertain some fellow male inmates with her pop show, and you can imagine what happens.

Not being professional, Rinka succumbs to the insults from the convicts rather than continue with the show. And soon not only she is broken morally but also in body as the convicts give her a sequel from her interrogation and beat her up all over the room. The guys aren't very smart as they don't rip off her clothes and molest her, but they do leave her to a bloody pulp. Come to think of, there is not much skin in this film.

After her performance in entertaining the male inmates; she once again is suspended from the ceiling and the interrogator returns to give her some good old electric torture. Sadly again she is clothed but we do see Rinka getting wet herself from the torture. After a while, interrogator guy finally becomes smart and removes Rinka of her panties. She uses a microphone/dildo to penetrate her.

At the end of the torment, the police chief arrives and maybe mentions the fate of poor Rinka. Which leaves us to the climax of the film and why I decided to write this review.

This scene... the final scene of the movie... we get to see some various kanji as eerie music plays, we see some stairs and it is all dark, nothing but cold and metallic colors which contrast and overwhelm Rinka's colorful and cheerful outfit.

It all points out that the crime committed by Rinka is punishable by death. Death by guillotine to be exact.

Rinka is taken by the chief all the way up to her execution device, as she cries and pleads. She begs and begs as she can't believe this is happening to her. Her final word is a long and screaming "nooooooooooo" as the blade descends and cuts her delicate neck. Her cute head with its pigtails fall all the way down to the ground as the metallic blade also makes its noise on the ground, and her headless body twitches and releases a post-mortem urination...

A ghostly theme plays as we see Rinka's open mouth covered in blood; we span to her eyes and then we see that the police have placed her decapitated head hanging from its pigtails. Perhaps as a warning in case some else decides to do the police's job and do it better than them? A tragic and unfit end for such a pure spirit; or a rightful one for such a lowlife drug junkie whore as how perhaps the police are telling the media how to handle the story.

Again, as I mentioned there is hardly any skin in the film which is a letdown; but I find the last scene, Rinka's execution, to be a powerful one. Here we see a poor helpless girl receiving a harsh exaggerated sentence for a crime she did not commit and worse is that it is the very same law that is supposed to take care of our society.

It probably never crossed her mind that it was the very same authorities the ones who set her up and not some enemy or even her agent or employee. From the little Japanese I understand, it seems she was trying to say that she "didn't do anything" as she cries desperately as her head is placed for execution. There is no hope for her, she is forsaken.

She is the perfect sacrificial lamb. Innocent yet has to endure painful humiliations in order to get to her gruesome end. A pointless martyrdom. Rinka is a superheroine and superheroes are usually a symbol of hope in fantasy as a way of escapism from cruel reality. But here we see a colorful heroine of fantasy meeting a realistic and cruel demise. Which is what I loved from this film.

A previous film in this line features a "Power Ranger" like character (JMSZ-09 Heroine Cruel Story - Beheading Pink) who also meets her end by the guillotine, but because she was wearing her helmet, we are not able to see the anguish in her expressions like the lovely Miss Asakura did. Plus that execution loses some drama as she is killed by a villainess of fantasy instead, while here Rinka receives an undeserved punishment from THE MAN. This is something we hear of quite often in our world, but the media or other parties usually do not give us full information about something (or there is some censorship) as it happens to poor little Rinka.

Anyway, I hope for Giga/Zeus to make more works like this (the video can be bought by US western audiences at their Akiba Web website) to satisfy our dark desires to see hopeless GIMPs. Like mentioned, it is the climax of the film that made me interested in writing this review but sadly there is hardly any skin in it. So I give it an A due to Asakura's powerful performance which touched my heart (and something else lol). But if she had shown more skin in her tortures (and maybe add more cruel ones to break her further) and execution, it would have received an A+ for sure.

JMSZ-08 looks like it has plenty of good stuff in it and Kotomi Asakura sure is cute. But I find the pop princess outfit unattractive and a bit off-putting. I would rather have seen Kotomi in one of the super-heroine or space-girl outfits. It sounds weird, I guess, but since Kotomi wears much of that outfit throughout the movie, I have a feeling it would be too much of a distraction for me.

Gog: Thanks for another fun picture-review. As best as I understand the rating system, I think a GIMP flick has to do better than 3-1/2 HandiWipes before I consider tracking it down.

Among the standouts was one of my favorites, doll-faced Susan Hemingway. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe her short cinematic career was spent making movies for no other director but Franco.

guymanseven: Thanks for your review of the typically lengthy-titled Giga movie - it's been a while since we've had one of those.

I find these superheroine movies rather fascinating, even though I've seen only one or two. Perhaps I'm a bit too analytical, but it seems that if you beat one of them up to a sufficient extent, they lose their magical or super powers. If I were in Rinka's situation, I'd use my powers to get myself the hell out of it. But I guess it says something about the honor of a Japanese superheroine that she respects the legal authorities, even when they're egregiously mistaken.

Obviously, the performance of the actress was the big selling point for you; it's not easy to convey that with words or even still pictures. But I appreciate your effort and contribution.

So now Roger Ebert has left this mortal coil. I guess I'll always be grateful to Ebert for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, a movie that did not emphasize GIMPage, but still had a big impact on this young man's impressionable mind...especially toward the end of its running time. My thumb's up.

And the other point is about when a woman can easily remove her gag, but just plays along and doesn't (because it's not in the script?). A good abductor should never give her the opportunity by tying her hands in front or leaving her hands free at any time, so if that's what happened, that's an automatic lowering of the grade, by at least a half a Handi-Wipe.

The movie looks like a lot of fun. I don't mind the lack of skin, although that probably would have improved it. The lead actress is quite cute and it sounds like she's treated very badly, which is why I like watching these movies. Roger Ebert passes away: That's 2 of my favorite film industry icons that have died with the past few days, along with Jess Franco. Very sad. I developed a love of movies by watching Siskel and Ebert every week, starting from back when they were on PBS all the way though the end of their run.

Now, obviously, neither Siskel nor Ebert were fans of the type of movies we like here, but it was their condemnation of films that glorified violence against women that (unintentionally) gave those films some exposure and launched at least one of them, I Spit on Your Grave, to cult status. In fact, I seriously doubt that film in particular would have gotten noticed if the 2 famous film critics hadn't mentioned it so prominently in their most famous (or infamous, depending on how you feel about it) special episode.

We've brought it up here before, but this is the perfect time for an encore viewing. Here's the Siskel and Ebert "Women in Danger" episode, from 33 years ago. Boy, do I feel old.

There's an interesting Franco flick which carries the original title of Die Sklavinnen (The Slaves), but is burdened with the unfortunate American title Swedish Nympho Slaves.

Among the interesting tidbits is that Franco plays a hoodlum whose task is to torture Lina Romay's character for information. He uses his cigarette to burn her breast, then nearly drowns her naked in the bathtub (assisted by another naked woman who holds her down), and finally leaves her tied to the showerhead until someone rescues her the next day.

I've been a bit reluctant to chime in on this latest GIMP Poll. Spanking isn't and probably never will be for everyone, it is basically an acquired taste. Some people will enjoy watching it, others will not. Plus, in my experience, spanking doesn't have to conform to normal GIMP standards (if there are such things) to be enjoyable. It was spanking that initially sparked my interest in GIMP, back in the mid to late 1990s. Although my tastes gradually shifted away from it as I mentioned in a previous post of mine a few months ago, I have slowly been re-developing an interest in it. It doesn't always give me a hard on, but it's doesn't have too. I see spanking as just one of a variety of adult entertainment choices.

THE T DOUBLE G...

I know, my personal taste if looking at pictures or video includes bondage of some type... handcuffs or rope. the guy needs to be handsome... muscular looking... to look like he can give a good spanking. And I want to see hand prints on her bottom. MOST internet spankings don't do it for me.

The girl on girl spankings, which seems to dominate the internet, with their little hands and the light swats is a complete turn off.

The spanking videos I've seen have ranged from pretty OK to pretty lame, I've only seen one where I'd go, yeah, that's the way to it. That was a 8mm loop in an adult store, and I wouldn't know if it ever got transfered to digital. I have really appreciated the comments from readers regarding my first two stories and I hope some of you will read and enjoy this opus too. That's why I'm looking so forward to the "Dead But Dreaming" whipping scene. It just looks like a straight whipping like what would actually have taken place historically. Her one leg isn't tied to the ceiling, she's not on her knees with her hands on her head sticking her ass out (like anyone is going to stay like that through a whipping). She's just tied with her arms over her head and her back to the flogger. She's not going to start twirling around like a top and get whipped all over the place. This is just a real whipping punishment.

One day I hope a company like Vermeer works tries makes a movie that has lots of spanking or more domestic type punishments. For instance, a religious fanatic cult leader kidnaps girls they believe need to be "rehabilitated" (sort of like House of Whipcord) and this compound is run like a Juvenile detention center. Spankings given daily with a hairbrush or paddle. Caning for more severe offenses (sometimes given in public), and whippings.

Or some sort of foreign boarding school with a harsh headmistress. Everythings about slavery and vampires these days. It would be nice to see something new. Autumn Born, House of Whipcord, Flowers in the Attic, Schoolgirls in Chains all had interesting plot lines that could allow for some nice F/F spankings and canings.

That said, I see great potential in a scenario in which a victim is stripped and has to bend over and take, say, 10 strokes of a cane, counting the lashes herself, with extra strokes being added for breaking the pose or missing the count. That seems to me tremendously humiliating in that making the victim acquiesce to the punishment emphasises how dominated she is.

As for spanking being "consensual" - well, that's kind of misleading. Take the classic schoolgirl spanking scenario, which has been played out a million times by now in many vids and stories. A young girl is ordered to report to the headmaster's office, where she's informed that she has broken certain rules and must thus be punished. Now it's true that there's generally no use of restraints in this scenario, and since the girl doesn't go running as fast as she can out of the office it could be viewed as consensual. But it's more complicated than that. If she doesn't accept her punishment, she's be expelled from school and the consequences of that would be even worse in the long run. So yes, she accepts her punishment, but she's not doing so willingly. She's doing it because in her mind she really has no other choice.

Actually, the spanking community has long recognized the erotic value of not just paddles, but riding crops, canes, leather belts and straps, carpet beaters, hair brushes, and rulers as implements for punishing a fine lady's bottom. Go to virtually any spanking video (or stories) site, and you'll find them all in abundance. And thank god for that, because if spanking was defined strictly by use of a hand, it would do absolutely nothing for me either.

As with GIMP (or any other fetish, I assume), the details that make for a great spanking scenario are both critical and highly subjective. Thus, these details vary widely across videos. For example, many spanking scenes involve applying punishment to a gal's clothed bottom - the gal might be wearing panties, a skirt, or a tight pair of jeans. But the classic scenario (and indeed, the ONLY one that works for me) involves the bottom being bared for the punishment.

Two other details that matter much to me (and no doubt would to many of you GIMPers) are the severity of the strokes and the reactions of the girl being spanked. There are many videos (too many, in my opinion) in which the strokes are laid on in a rather light and playful manner (BORING!). But keep searching, and you'll find plenty of others where the strokes are laid on pretty damn hard. It's well known that after some spanking shoots the models are left with sore, bruised bottoms for a few days afterwards (how can you not be turned on by this thought???).

Similarly, there are too many vids where the girl shows no real reaction while being spanked...either remaining silent and stoic, or emitting a rather unconvincing "ow" after a stroke. So for at least some of you, if you say you're not into spanking videos on the basis of a casual look some years ago, you might want to look again. Dig. Search. You may be well rewarded for it.

I would rather see fantasy danger pulled off convincingly...which sounds hypocritical but translated, it means that the performance of the actress, the intensity and mood of the scene, the danger level conveyed and other elements are more important to me than whether the actress is actually hurt.

We had a discussion about this topic once while considering the meaning of the term "sadism". Admittedly it's a gray area...I'm reminded of stunt performers who risk their fool necks, suffer injuries and on rare occasions lose their lives, all to make a scene work. But what makes a scene "work" may mean something different for me than it does for others. Seeing an actress' back or butt (or heaven forbid, breasts) covered with ugly "real" welts is a turn-off for me.

But I understand that there are actresses who are willing to undergo this kind of treatment in order to make a scene work for others. I just don't purchase or subscribe to their products.

So having a free day and nothing better to do, I played with Skyrim mods and Anime Studio and did it myself. Of course, I found out how hard it was to make anything lengthy and elaborate that still looks remotely decent, so it devolved into a short piece of a scene that I just thought was fun if nothing else. I also find myself wishing the terrible thoughts there was no job and kid to distract from me learning a software really well and doing something really good with it.

I also know well of the sites that never seem to get it right. You mention Boundheat but I don't see them as big of a culprit as say Pain4Fem or Paingate. Well, sure, you don't want to see the actress really get hurt if she's playing a role in a movie. For instance, I was the one who commissioned that Amy get roasted on a spit over hot coals in Maleficarum, and I would have felt horrible if she had really gotten burned or overcome with smoke during the filming. But she took precautions and emerged relatively unscathed, except for some major bruising where she was tied and some overall soreness afterward. Suffering for her art. I appreciate that.

But on the other hand, it excites me more to know that what I was seeing was real...it wasn't a skillfully portrayed illusion. She really was being roasted and feeling the heat. And in some of the bondage films I've seen...particularly the Attackers ones from Japan where Randa Mai is laying the whip onto some poor waif who's tied to the ceiling and I know those red welts are real and the girl is really suffering...that's a big turn-on, too.

I assume you mean this only if the scene is being performed by an actress who is doing so willingly, and that she is not being coerced, drugged or mentally unstable. If so, how does this jibe with your avowed dislike of consensual GIMP scenes? Don't the real reddened skin, welts and bruises draw attention to the fact that the so-called victim is participating of her own volition?

Personally, I don't want to think that the actress is enduring any form of discomfort. Otherwise, I have to wonder how close to the line the action is. What if the woman is a pain-freak who is pushing her limits and potentially harming herself permanently? What if she was just about to yell out the safe word and lost consciousness? What part of the proceedings did we not see? What questionable takes were quickly erased after the shoot?

As the one who commissioned that very scene, had this (or some other serious harm) happened, I would have wanted to crawl into a hole, never to show my GIMPy face ever again.

Margot: I think it's great that you guys are looking into ways to encourage more funding help for future movies. If I may offer a suggestion for you to consider - how about some way for people to actually invest in a movie, as opposed to just forking over cash out of the supreme goodness of their hearts? In another words, build in some chance that we'd get part or all of our money back, and even perhaps share in the profits?

I haven't thought it through, but the plan might go something like this: If the movie loses money or merely breaks even, the investor gets nothing back. If the movie earns, say, a 10% profit, the investor gets a certain percentage of their money back. A larger amount would be returned should the movie enjoy a 20% profit, and so forth. If the film were to do really, really well, perhaps the investor could even enjoy a small profit.

In the case of Dead But Dreaming, I forked over a good wad of cash purely out of the overflowing goodness of my heart (well, actually it's because I'm a sick fuck who wanted to see his ultimate whipping fantasy on film...but whatever). But the thing is, I would have invested even more had there been some chance I would get least some of the money back. I would have done so quite confidently, because I knew that if you guys even came close to reproducing the public whipping scene I had in my head, that it would get tons of attention and people would be tripping over themselves to buy it.

All GIMP scenes we watch in movies and bondage videos are consensual. Presumably, anyway. The producer pays the actress, she agrees to perform, and the cameraman gets it on film. If any producer started going beyond what an actress consents to, you can bet there would be lawsuits-a-plenty. Supposedly there were allegations a few years back with an overseas company (Mood Pictures? Elite Pain?) but they're back in business now so I don't know whatever became of that case.

The point is, even though I know everything is consensual, I like to imagine that what I'm watching is real. If the actress cries realistically and she looks like she's really being hurt, I can believe the fantasy. Too many scenes don't pull it off to my high expectations. If the actress is so into the scene that she permits herself to get marked up, good for her. It's all about putting the best product on the screen.

Okay, so you're a Lee Strasburg fan. I really liked it, although BATS lovers who prefer the "climax" of the victim going up in flames might be let down by it. The scene has a lot of what really excites me about the whole burning at the stake process...the cute victim (Susan Hemingway) resigned to her fate, looking woefully at the pile of wood as she is led up the steps, the lighting of the fire and the pan up as the smoke reaches her. From there on, it's mainly just reaction shots of Hemingway tied to the stake with a few hints of flames below, but what's there is quite beautiful.

When I first introduced this topic, I was reliving an ancient memory from my childhood, one of the early influences on the development of my GIMPosity. At that time we were discussing the hot iron database, but it never occurred to me that Molly would actually be seen in it someday. Hell, I wasn't even sure I would ever find the damned movie, let alone the scene itself.

But if Molly is to leave a proper legacy, it should be in the context of the family movie that she and her kin tried to make. So as long as TCM continues to make the scene available on that movie, I am satisfied.

There are exceptions. I liked the scene where pretty Mai Sakashita got her face slapped in the old Attackers flick, Real World III. As far as I can tell, there's no way that was faked.

Beyond that, providing that she has the right to "quit" at any time, whatever the actress (or stunt-person) is willing to do, is her choice; and no one has to feel guilty about it.

And if real bruises or scrapes in filming were categorically forbidden there would be very few "action" scenes filmed at all. Actors and actresses, but more often, their stunt doubles get cuts and bruises all of the time, and for the stunt people it's considered a part of the job they are getting paid for.

It only gets commented on if: there is a catastrophic failure in safety and someone gets killed or maimed, a famous "face" gets injured badly enough so it cannot be hidden from a paparazzi (as happened with Daniel Craig in one of the recent "007s"), or there is some really special requirement which makes it "interesting", in Goya's Ghosts, they had to find a stunt double for Natalie Portman who's shoulders were flexible enough so she could be hung off the floor nude (no possibility to use a hidden harness) in a strappado. And, yes, even for that flexible woman, it hurt! (somewhere I read an interview with the stunt-woman who did that, where she talked about her hardest jobs).

As for contemporary versus historical; for me historical comes more easily. I don't like my stories to be set too close to home and I like them to be part of a bigger picture rather than just a personal conflict. But what is contemporary today is historical in the future and there is (unfortunately) plenty of scope for conflicts around the world at the moment that could bring a rich source of opportunities for stories of atrocities of all sorts.

Captive Women is one of the many titles for this flick, and it's probably the best of them.

It's in the review database under the title Linda and is sometimes called The Story of Linda, which is odd because the movie really isn't about Linda. Linda is played by Katja Beinert, and Ursula plays her unlucky sister Betsy who has been abducted. So it's really the Story of Betsy.

Linda is supposed to be looking for Betsy and trying to rescue her, but she spends most of the movie fucking her boyfriend and sightseeing. That's fortunate for the viewers, because it prolongs Betsy's plight, which means more GIMPery, sex and nudity for Ursula. Cool.

Dan Hawke - the reviewer - seemed to have some problems with that too, saying that after the victim in that film did that, his "Gimp mileage went way down".

But the fact is, any reasonably physically fit and flexible person can bring hands fastened by the wrists, behind back, to the front, in most cases.* Most will just need a minute or two to do the gymnastics without interference - on he other hand a really flexible young female can do it in 5 seconds.

* As with all things, the devil is in the details, if the wrists are fastened together with the palms of the hands together (facing in) it is easier to slide them over the butt (the hardest part of this) than if the wrists are fastened so the palms are facing out. But it can still be done - providing the persons butt isn't fat. Overweight people could have a problem doing this (but the girl in "P2" was not overweight, LOL). However, if the wrists are fastened so the arms come together from opposite directions and are bent 90 degrees at the elbows (a common "Japanese style" tie) one is out of luck. Etc.

Of course, after the hands are in front, there is a good chance that they can be used to free the feet... etc. etc. (even if the wrists stay fastened - as can be seen, plastic-cuffs can be broken; but steel hand-cuffs could not), and then we also saw how shoes can be used... Part 2, to follow.

The one thing I never saw was plasti-cuffs being broken no matter how strong the person was - guess it could happen with one in a defective batch but the only effective way to remove them once properly in place is with wire cutters - what a good gig I had.

Exactly. While hands behind is obviously preferable to hands in front, I never feel comfortable with a captive unless she is tied to something. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed with a clip ever. Especially since potentially this could have been a real winner. First off, it stars Amber Rayne, Miss Queen of Stringent B&D. Next, it's a 4 man gang rape scenario, with a double facial. And third, a totally merciless ending (in true Gimp fashion).

Sorry for the extended absence. Been working to start a new business to diversify out of porn and haven't done a shoot in a while. Might shoot again but at the moment not recruiting. There was too much risk involved in shooting porn and it was only bringing in around ten grand a month. Eventually you get shut down in a business like that because one legal bill wipes out six months of revenue. Won't be shooting custom requests unless everything is paid for and all I need to do is show up and shoot so I doubt that will be happening. The actual cost of a shoot is around ten grand even though the model is only getting a tenth of that. Recruiting is dangerous. You never know who is going to show up and half of them are cops. Party on Comrades! Living under communism isn't all that bad. Ask your party boss....the one behind the bullet proof glass....

Here's my theory, though. I don't think, for the most part, that proper bondage is a priority for a lot of the companies that sell through NicheClips. The way I see it, they add it to appeal to those of us who are into that sort of thing in addition to their base audience. So when they do, and it's not done right, who have they won over? Especially if a person's first purchase happened to be a lame attempt.

Poll question: For me, bound. Held down by multiple assailants can be cool (arms & legs).....but the victim can't constantly be held down. Someone's going to get sloppy, and she's going to yank an arm or leg free. And simple fingernails can be quite the weapon on the assailant's sensitive parts.

Sure enough, my answer to the poll question is No -- I don't think it's essential for the victim to be tied up during rape scenes. Some of my favorite rape scenes were ones where the victim wasn't tied up but she was securely restrained by the villains.

In fact, when the woman isn't tied up, I think it gives her a bit more flexibility to put up a struggle, which is always a turn-on.

That's not to suggest I'm pleased with the rape scenes that come my way these days. The Japanese pornographers still make a lot of movies with a "rape" theme, but most of them are simply films with a rape storyline. The actual depictions of the sex acts look consensual, including sexual positions such as cowgirl that aren't the least bit believable.

I'm not fussy about the woman being tied up (although I do like it when the woman is tied up) but I do want to see a convincing scene where the victim is properly restrained. That is very rare these days.

Anyway, I hope I'll get some sympathy from Eda as this poll continues -- because, this time, I suspect I'm going to be the odd one out.

GIMP poll: Well, my answer is basically...what Flintstone said. I do prefer bondage in a rape scene because it generally ratchets up the hotness factor in any scene and helps put the M in GIMP. That said (and you probably knew this was coming)...

If you take a still shot of a rape scene - thus taking it out of its context - the lack of bondage may seem at first glance to be a loser. For example, looking at the shot below:

Today's pics are another example. The first set shows what looks like a torture scene. But I was thinking...if that's O, maybe she's consenting to it. I agree, sometimes what I remember more is the struggle (foreplay) if it's well-done. As in Lipstick. Epic struggle...again I don't remember whether she was tied up or not, but by the time she was subdued, bondage was almost unnecessary.

Sexual Story of O is yet another take on the Sadean tale of an innocent young thing's descent into sexual iniquity. Franco was recycling a theme he had handled better many times before, but I remember this film proved er... unique nonetheless. None of the actors were Franco regulars, and it was set in the sun-drenched Spanish tourist meccas the director preferred when funds were low. The visuals and sound in this film are interesting if you are a fan of experimental cinema, but distract from any GIMP elements.

The scene from which the pic-of-the-day caps are taken is the only one which may interest local denizens. A naked woman is chained to a bed and is whipped with a mini-mace by topless amazons wearing surgical masks. Remarkably, the victim suffers only some badly applied blood FX, so she is finished off with a rather tame throat-slitting. Apparently this film is available on DVD, but lord knows why anyone would want to buy it.

Poll: After trying for four decades to determine what makes for my ideal GIMP fantasy, I've learned that nothing is essential. When I first got into this maelstrom of debauchery, I certainly considered nudity (or near-nudity) and bondage to be requisite elements of an enjoyable scene, regardless of whether whips, racks, electricity, hot irons or, yes... rape, was the main instrument of peril. I've since discovered that I am a true GIMP non-sectarian. But I'm intrigued by the movie. Not really a hard GIMPage scene but a cautionary tale about teenagers drinking/drugging at a party. You're not mistaken. Just one of many stunningly gorgeous actresses Franco employed for his films. She was damn hot. Actually, it was none other than our old friend Bill Zebub who did a scene (in his one and only good movie) where Debbie D is tied to an X-frame and given electrical shock at the same time Bill is raping her. Implied anyway, but that's the kind of multi-tasking I can get into.

That is one of the reasons the electrified dildo is the instrument of choice for most modern physical interrogations of females. The other reasons being, in the hands of an expert manipulating the current it is a torture that can be prolonged almost indefinitely and, "best" of all, in this age of UN Conventions against torture, it leaves no visible marks no matter how long the female chooses to hold out.

While I could say your last statement is only partly true, I am sure BRANDING is painful enough to override anything else... I must admit I have never been branded or ever want to be either, but having accidentally stuck my arm into a candle flame once, I think I have an idea how that might feel.

But the real problem with branding, a popular medieval torture, is that it was too painful for a "good" torture. Repeated applications of the hot iron quickly sent the subject into shock, resulting in insensitivity and death. I suspect that quickly sending the victim into shock was one of the main reasons why there are so many medieval stories of accused witches and others subjected to incredible torture, but never confessed or talked.

Electricity to the sensitive places on the other hand can be modulated so the subject just suffers for her torment(s) indefinitely. And if she is human, sooner or later, she is going to crack no matter how tough she is.

So, catching up... thanks to all for the nice compliments to my person, and concern for my well-being on the set. As I've mentioned before, I would never take a really awful risk that would result in irrevocable damage to my person.

That's spot-on for me. We reduce risks as much as possible on the set.

The Polls:
Spanking: that would be a yes vote for me if the scene is about humiliation, because let's face it, it's not like any serious harm is going to come to a lady in that manner.
Rape scene: I could go both ways, but in the scene in Maleficarum, my character was in manacles, and in Dead But Dreaming, my character was also manacled. So I guess I consider restraint necessary for a scene to have more impact.

If I may offer a suggestion for you to consider - how about some way for people to actually invest in a movie, as opposed to just forking over cash out of the supreme goodness of their hearts? I haven't thought it through, but the plan might go something like this: If the movie loses money or merely breaks even, the investor gets nothing back. If the movie earns, say, a 10% profit, the investor gets a certain percentage of their money back. A larger amount would be returned should the movie enjoy a 20% profit, and so forth. If the film were to do really, really well, perhaps the investor could even enjoy a small profit."

We've done this before, and it's an option, we're open to investment. Depending on state laws and such, we can sell up to 49% of shares in a movie to investors. With each investor we create something called a "Limited Partnership" for the movie. However, it's not really viable if we sell $10,000 worth of shares to one person, for example, and then have to spend a fifth of that on an attorney, setting up the partnership. At this point, unless an individual invests more than that, we'd prefer to spend our cash in the movie and cut a few corners.

Crowdfunding is relatively new to the game of film fundraising, but it's catching on fast. People contribute to a movie or project they believe in and want to see made, and they get something in return, or a bunch of somethings.

In the campaign we're launching very soon, there's a range of contributions, $25 gets you a Download of the completed film (a $30 retail value), $50 gets you the Download, plus a DVD of the film (a $65 dollar retail value). In the $25-50 range you're pretty much buying a pre-sale of the film. For larger contributions, you additionally get links to live streaming behind the scenes events from the set, links to a scene from the movie as it's being shot, a copy of the book Olalla signed by yours truly, a tee shirt with a cool graphic of the movie, on up to a special making-of video of the big crucifixion/whipping/burning at the stake scene, and so on and so forth. The more you contribute, the more you get, it's cumulative!

I posted yesterday about the upcoming campaign in the Stakedamsels Forum and Bill K. had some great questions:

How much $$$ are you talking about for pretty sure including me most of the members here don't have $2500 to donate and is a bunch of $10 dollar donation really going to do you any good? Bill K.

And here's an abridged response: Those are good questions, Bill. We're trying to raise $10,000. So if 400 people contribute $25, or 200 people contribute $50, we meet our goal. Even if we don't meet our goal, the scene will still be made, but we'll have to cut a few corners. Instead of of 40 -50 people in the crowd in period costume, we'll have 15-20, still a substantial crowd. The structure of the scene would remain unchanged and we'll spend all of the funds on firewood. :)

The scene we're crowdfunding for is a huge blow-out GIMP scene set in the 1880's, in my next movie, Olalla. The movie itself is chock-full 'o GIMP, bondage, rape, and the sequence set in the 1880's (the story of what befell the original Olalla) culminates in a mob of angry villagers chaining my character to a cross, whipping her and humiliating her, and then burning her at the stake in a big 'ole blaze. I'll have lots more information when we launch the campaign, but if anyone has any questions before that, ask away!

Yes, it is of course different from the legal and enforceability standpoint; but once a upon a time many deals were simply concluded with a handshake and a belief in the honesty (and reputation of) of the other party.

Now, realistically, you will get quite a few 25-50, even 100 dollar donations through crowd-sourcing. But it is unlikely that you will get any 9,000.oo dollar donations that way; that's a little too much for most people to just gift. But, from what I see here, there is a lot of respect for you people: Amy, Jac, Margot, Mila... "out here". And I think that there would be people among us who could (unfortunately I'm not one of those who can, however) provide several thousand dollars and be willing to do it on the basis of your "handshake". I do realize that these kinds of repayments (since there is no legal contract - based on what?) may have some tax implications, but again, that is something to be worked on.

I would suggest one other thought (and I will admit, there may be compelling reasons for you NOT to do this) and that is, a more open discussion, actually a "price list", for contributions to your movie production.

So, what does one have to invest to get a "specially requested scene" - and how long a scene (minutes) does one get for X dollars? And what would be the minimum size for a "handshake investment" and at what point is the investment high enough to quote Margot: "But if the investment is high enough, then... call the attorneys!

I was looking at Sadomania and 99 Women the past few days to make caps for the site. It's just amazing the high number of really beautiful women that allowed Franco to film them in nude bondage scenes in mainstream movies. The hardest part of highlighting these movies for the site is limiting myself to just a few pictures from each film. Most of these films have multiple bondage nude scenes, a lot more than I was able to feature. Over the past 18 days, we've showcased 18 Franco films, and on this 19th and final movie, I can't hold back any more. There were just to many good scenes, so this one will run for 3 days. Watch for it tonight at midnight.

The movie is a rather obscure and hard-to-find film called Two Female Spies With Flowered Panties. Yes, that's really the title, but don't bother asking for it at your neighborhood Hollywood Video. As far as I can tell, this one only came out on VHS, and the quality is lesser than the previous films I've been running, but it's full of those typical Franco touches like bondage rape and cigarette burning and it's definitely worth seeking out.

I hope YikYakker doesn't mind, but I know the answer to this one. It's from 5 Golden Dragons (1967). It's been a long while since I saw that one - on TV in the mid 1970's I think. It had quite the cast: Christopher Lee, Brian Donlevy, George Raft... and Bob Cummings! Not surprisingly, it's a Harry Alan Towers production.

Besides Maria Rohm and the prominent actors you mentioned, it also includes Eurobabes Maria Perschy and Margaret Lee (another Franco regular).

But I would watch this just for Susan. IMDb says that she was born with the name Maria Rosalia Coutinho; the name is said to be Portuguese, although she is often listed as a German actress.

Whatever she's got in her genes, it works for me.

I was saddened to hear of Jess Franco's passing. He was a great artist and did so many great films and scenes. His taste in women was impeccable. A great pioneer. He will certainly be missed.

Another passing of note which you guys are probably not be aware of, Morty Gordon the founder of Bizarre Video died April 12th at the age of 76. You might not think much of Bizarre, they were pretty soft and very fetishy, but Morty was a mentor who was one of the guys who helped me get a start in this business. I learned a lot from Morty back in the 80's and got to go to New York and work with people like Sharon Mitchell, Holly Rider, Flame and so many other bondage babes from those times. I at one point worked as assistant director to Heri Pachard which is basically a cable rat, but those times are some of my fondest memories. Wild times. Heri was also a great guy, sadly, he has passed on too. Anyway, had it not been for Morty, ZFX would probably never have existed. He was good people and I am sorry to see him go.

Spanking Poll: I am probably a little late on this but I like spanking in the course of a movie if its done hard and its humiliating to the spankee. I have done it in movies from time to time but I generally don't focus on it, its like foreplay to some greater event. I have never been a big fan of pure spanking movies.

Rape Scenes: I can go either way on it, I like it both ways if they are done right. Multiple attackers is always a big plus for me.

Girls being eaten: I would rather see them fucked than eaten. =)

I hope this doesn't sound inappropriate, under the circumstances, but it was interesting to read about your start in the business back in the '80s. I don't know much about how you got to where you are today, other than something Ralphus posted one time about how you started ZFX because you believed bondage movies weren't really catering to people with more extreme interests (or something to that effect).

I had never really thought about how you would have learned so much about the industry, particularly detail stuff such as how to manufacture and sell tapes in the pre-Internet days. But now that I think about it, it makes sense that you gained some valuable experience before you started your own company.

I sent $$ for a DVD over a week ago and have written a few emails asking for confirmation but have not heard back.

Inquiring minds want to know: Which movie did you order?

When I first saw the girl, I was reminded of The Night Porter. Turns out that was the point. But I've forgotten a lot of what I saw in that movie; this video is going to stick in the mind for a long time.

Barbazul (2012)

This, the second movie helmed by Amy, is derived from a centuries-old tale of a man (Bluebeard) who wed and then murdered several wives (successively, not all at once). The movie updates the narrative to modern times and gives the central character the name Barbazul (Barb = beard, azul = blue).

Soledad (Mila Delicia Joya) is our portal to the story. She meets Barbazul (Jac Avila) while working as an assistant to a fashion photographer who verbally abuses his staff. (On one occasion, the photographer is displeased with Mila and calls her a "nappy-haired cunt." Yikes.)

So off they go, up the long and winding road to Barbazul's aerie in the faraway hills. What a spread. Huge hacienda, loyal but furtive butler Walter (Roberto Lopez) to take care of all their needs, and all Soledad has to do is eat, sleep and fuck her fiance.

First, Barbazul is seen observing a photoshoot with Annabel (Veronca Paintoux), a model who is starting to feel she is nearing the end of her career. When Barbazul courts her and then proposes marriage, she readily agrees.

At first, I thought these two crazy kids were going to make it work

Afterwards, Barbazul sits outside the bedroom in a morose state. Walter the butler sees him, investigates, and tells him, "I can help you with this." From then on, Walter becomes an enabler for Barbazul's murderous habit, helping dispose of the evidence. Barbazul removes the engagement ring from Annabel's finger and saves it for his next lover.

At a lounge, Barbazul meets Maga, a sultry blues singer whom he likewise brings to his hideaway. But Maga longs to get back to her band and her singing. When she announces that she is going to a concert without talking to Barbazul first, he stabs her in the abdomen. She stumbles out to the balcony, bleeding profusely, until Barbazul unwraps his scarf and finishes her off. Walter again arrives to clean up the mess.

Then Barbazul encounters Agatha at an art gallery and brings her to live with him. At the hacienda, things are going well until Agatha suggests to Barbazul that once they are married, there will be no more need for Walter. Uh-oh.

That night, when Barbazul ties her to the bed, she is initially intrigued, thinking that it's part of a kinky game. But then he chokes her with the black scarf just like the others.

The final victim in the journal is "Jane" (Amy Hesketh), a writer of some renown whom Barbazul recognizes as she sits working on a park bench.

Thinking she is dead, Walter wraps Jane in a large plastic sheet and prepares to bury her. As he and Barbazul shovel dirt on top of her, a close-up of Jane's face reveals that she is still breathing. Too late.

Finishing the journal, Soledad remembers that Barbazul is returning with her sister Ana. When the two arrive, Soledad wants to warn Ana that they are in danger. But Barbazul insists that they sit down to dinner immediately.

At the dinner table, Barbazul senses from Soledad's silence that she disobeyed him and entered the locked room. After confronting her, he rises from the table, positions himself behind her, and prepares to use his deadly scarf. Then, something unexpected occurs: Ana also moves toward Soledad, and helps Barbazul's efforts by tying Soledad's wrists to the chair. Soledad is then bagged as well as choked, and we watch the bag inflate and deflate with Soledad's last respirations.

Ana removes from Soledad's dead hand the engagement ring that has passed to and from the fingers of Barbazul past fiancés. She places on her own finger.

But Amy's film does not end until she has delivered one more twist in the tale, which I will not divulge.

As a movie Barbazul has a lot going for it: appropriate casting, performances that range from good to excellent, beautiful scenery and cinematography, plot twists and a musical score that is both ominous and infectious. It's a subtly detailed, multi-layered film that reveals more with each viewing. Amy put a lot of thought into this.

GIMPwise, it has five attractive victims who all die via strangulation by the same black scarf; however, there is a slight variation to each murder. Annabel is fucked afterwards; Maga is stabbed first; Agatha is tied to the bed (topless), Jane is tied AOH to a tree, stripped, whipped , strangled and then buried alive; finally, Soledad is strangled and bagged while tied to a chair. Of the five scenes, the torture and death of Jane is my favorite. No surprise there, because Amy's experience ensures the delivery of good GIMPage with a fine payoff. And damn, she looks as hot in this movie as I have ever seen her.

As a villain, Jac displays some emotion during and after the first murder; thereafter, killing becomes something he does more coldly and routinely. It's as if getting away with the first murder gave him license to do more. His motivation is not spelled out, but it becomes clear that he has serious issues with women who think and act independently.

I'd not seen Veronica Paintoux before this, but I was very impressed with the credibility of her performance. Veronica is slender, with an elegant look and feline quality about her. She fit the role of a mature, successful model perfectly, and her interactions with Jac hit all the right notes. Her GIMP scene was also well-done. I hope we get to see more of her in future productions.

Maleficarum was built on a story that provided an opportunity for virtually non-stop torture of naked women. By contrast, Barbazul focuses more on the storytelling and the GIMPage is more episodic, although fatal in every instance. It's possible that you may even be able to watch this one in the company of one or more very open-minded acquaintances. My Grade: B

I think that may have been the idea. Afterall, it's been viewed in mainstream theaters.

So.....I pose the question.....should this have possibly been reviewed as a "Mainstream" movie? And if so, would your rating be any higher as such, rather than a fetish movie?

Thanks for the condolences, Morty was good people. I learned a lot from those experiences at Bizarre. There is no school to learn this business and back in those days, no book in the library to read about it, no Internet to consult. You had to have the right connections and I was very fortunate to have made those connections.

As far as content, I did want to make more extreme movies, but beyond that, I wanted to make stuff that was more pulpy and sci fi based. Bondage with a purpose instead of bondage for its own sake. You make stuff and hope people like it. If they don't, you won't last long.

Regarding the mainstream movie vs. fetish movie question, I've seen this film, Maleficarum and Sirwinakuy and I would describe all of them as mainstream films with fetish elements. They differ from the gang's earlier Red Feline offerings in that the story comes first and they're not geared exclusively toward the fetish crowd. In that respect, the Pachamama company has branched out from their fetish roots are now making films that are more accessible to a wider audience. Much in the same way that a filmmaker like Jess Franco made Euro cult films that employed exploitation elements like full nudity, bondage and torture and thus achieved a mainstream following. That appears to be the direction this company is going, which is a very good thing in my book.

Okay, why again the slam against Pachamama's prices? You brought this up when Maleficarum came out a few years ago. I looked at the link you posted and Pachamama's movies are all priced between $19.90 and $29.90. I was at a Wal-Mart yesterday and looked over a number of new release DVDs they had for sale. There were a few new ones that retailed for $14.95, but most of them were priced right around the $20-30 range...just like Pachamama's. These are professional, high quality, independently made mainstream productions that often involve the type of material that would appeal to GIMPers. I don't think in that respect, they are overpriced at all. Maybe if you're used to buying bootleg Japanese DVDs for 6 bucks apiece, they would seem high by comparison.

One movie that you made for that company, Spellbound, was an early favorite of mine and I could definitely see the ZFX influence even before ZFX was created. I would love to get an updated print of the film, do you know if any of those titles ever got restored for DVD?

If someone takes the time to contribute a review to the forum, I think it's appropriate to thank that person for his/her efforts and to reply to the review. That's particularly true in cases, such as this one, where I know the writer put some real effort into writing a first-rate review.

I would thank a reviewer who made such an effort, even if the movie that was reviewed caters to a fetish that may not appeal to me (eg., spanking) or perhaps is aimed at an audience that spends more on GIMP films than is spent by a tightwad like me.

I would point out one thing: That movie was filmed after Yuma Asami, one of the two stars, had slimmed down. In my opinion, she lost too much weight.

There's a scene early in the movie where the villains force her to strip. As she gets naked, I felt she looked a bit too scrawny. Even her boobs aren't as big as they used to be. Personally, I preferred Yuma when she had more curves.

Her co-star, Akiho Yoshizawa (on the left in the picture below), is as hot as ever. She's thinner than Yuma but I think she looks a bit more toned. Maybe Acky is just better suited for a slim frame.

I know you miss the rentals, but we started losing money by providing them, when our bank hiked their charging fees. You can blame corporate America for that one. If we were a larger company, our rates wouldn't be so high. Let's hope we grow to that point!

Gog - Thanks for thinking so highly of the movie. Yes, Barbazul debuted in movie theaters to mainstream audiences, and was shown in the Fenevid 2012 film festival (and I hope will be going to more fests this year). In fact, a funny thing happened yesterday, the very day of the debut of YikYakker's tremendous review, the Cinemateca told us that they would like to create a Bluebeard film festival around Barbazul. Apparently they're now feeling magnanimous. That was a good day for me.

Ralphus - Thank you for the praise of our trajectory. Back in 1997 Jac all but abandoned more mainstream cinematic pursuits in favor of making fetish films. Why? They sold, and he was having a hard time funding a big budget movie he wanted to make after the success of his TV miniseries. Now, we're going back to mainstream (without losing the GIMP) and having pretty good results. That's due to the wonderful people who buy our films and appreciate our work, and the fact that there's a niche for mainstream films with fetish or GIMP elements now. And we have the passion to make those kinds of films. We can thank digital cinema, Jess Franco, indie movie theaters, the internet, and 50 Shades of Grey for the wider acceptance of films with fetish and GIMP.

I completely forgot to mention in my posts before that we finally have the DVDs of Sirwinakuy, Barbazul, and Maleficarum up on Amazon.com in the USA and Europe. I was on tenterhooks waiting for their acceptance, especially Maleficarum. Apparently the people in charge of these things are GIMPers.

Thanks for the condolences, Morty was one of those unsung heroes of the industry. Not many people know him now days, even within the business, but of course they all know Bizarre and he was the guy who started that company.

As far as I know, neither Spellbound nor any of the movies I made for them have been put on DVD. I believe they bought limited rights for VHS duplication and that lapsed after 10 years so I think the copyright reverts to me. I dont think it's even in their catalog anymore but its certainly possible. It was never a big seller for them for whatever reasons. I may re-release it one day if have the rights.

It's true that Franco made over 200 movies; but some of them were pretty crappy. If you can make 100 great movies, we'll be satisfied. ;)

I probably should have flagged that as a tongue-in-cheek comment. I know that both Amy and Jac are particular about the scenes they shoot and wondered why she was naked while he was fully dressed. In a few other scenes in the movie, Jac is seen in various states of undress while boffing his babes (at least while they were still alive), so I just figured it was in the script that way and that artists have their own reasons for doing things in a certain manner.

But don't get me started on the big shoes Amy was wearing while naked in bed.

As for my college days, none of my dates ever asked me to have sex without taking my pants off. But at least back in those days, blue jeans were introduced with button-down flies, which greatly reduced the hazards associated with attempting to do such a thing, had my date insisted. ;)

A very good question. I try to review each movie on its own terms, whether it's a Powershotz clip, a mainstream movie, or whatever. That always requires at least two viewings: one to get the gist of what the movie is trying to accomplish, and the second to get the details right.

In this review, I cautioned about expecting a Maleficarum-like non-stop GIMP-fest so folks could be clear on what kind of movie this is: a story, in several episodes, with GIMP-death scenes attached to the end of each episode.

I asked myself a few questions, as I would with any review...

~ What did the movie set out to do?
~ How well did it accomplish its goal? What worked well (IMO) and what did not?
~ What does the movie offer GIMPers?

...and graded it accordingly. So in response to your question, I gave Barbazul the rating I thought it deserved, based on its own merits.

[Incidently, under my grading scale, a B = "must see"; an A = "must own".]

While the movie is offered to the public as "mainstream", it clearly belongs in its own category, much like the works of Franco. Amy's works, like Franco's, stretch the notion of what is presented as mainstream.

If this movie were to be submitted to the MPAA for a rating (in the U.S.), my guess is that it would have trouble avoiding an NC-17. But I'm interested in what others have to say about that.

Ralphus - Lol, nice Barbasaur! There have been many uses of the word (or term) "Barbazul". Back in the way back (you can get there in your WayBack Machine), the news media began to refer to any male serial killer of women as a Bluebeard or Barbazul (depending on the publication language). Thus we have the John Caradine Bluebeard, who has no beard at all. If his hair is blue, we'll never know as the film is in black & white.

Oh, and I'm really, super excited to tell you all here that there's an interview with yours truly in the current issue of Fangoria Magazine!!! I'm in the "Latin Horror".

Nonetheless, I like your cover a lot better than the one they came up with. An ugly guy with a skull face and dreadlocks doesn't make me want to pick up the issue. A naked chick tied AOH? I'm there!

But getting back to Fangoria, I don't think anybody has mentioned what an incredible accomplishment it is to be featured in that magazine. When Amy told me via e-mail that she was going to be interviewed by a "very cool magazine" a while back, she didn't say which one, but I knew just from her description exactly which one she was referring to. I mean, how many magazines can you call "cool" based on reputation alone? When I used to help out my roommate who ran a comic store, I would always flock to the issues of Fangoria first. They weren't necessarily bondage-themed, but they would tell you about upcoming horror films and there was usually something in there that would inevitably point to films where women were tied up.

It was through Fangoria that I first found out about Opera (aka Terror at the Opera), which is one of the top 10 greatest mainstream GIMP movies ever made, IMO. They showed a picture of the lead cutie tied up with needles taped under her eyes and I was hooked...I had to find that film!

Then there was this picture from The Hitcher which I saved from an issue that I've kept all these years (check out their clever caption below) of Jennifer Jason Leigh tied up between 2 trucks.

This was before the Internet, and the only way you could tell there was going to be bondage in a movie was if you were lucky enough to find a tiny picture of a tied-up woman somewhere on the box. But thanks to Fangoria, this was one that I rented on the first day, after months of anticipation after seeing that picture.

So the fact that Amy is now in the current issue is proof that she (and Maleficarum) have finally arrived. They've made the big time!

I didn't really think it looked like Amy, but thought the make-up was overdone for purposes of promotional pic, thereby giving a different appearance (like Lindsay as Marilyn for example) .

If I were Amy, I'd immediately send in a complaint in to Fangoria and get this rectified ASAP! Her fans deserve to get an issue with the correct picture on the cover......and giant poster on the inside. :-)

And I agree....not only about Fangoria, but about the DVD's selling on Amazon as well. It does my heart good to see Amy & crew do well. I can now wear my pervertedness with pride. Now if someone can do the same concerning my dementedness.;-)

Gog - Thank you so much for the "Amy" cover of Fangoria, I can only hope that will happen some day! And yes, that's a picture of Carmen Paintoux, and a really amazing picture it is. She does have some pretty heavy eye makeup there.

Carnyx - Also Carmen Paintoux on the X-cross, that's a scene from Martyr. Funny enough, seeing Martyr made me want to work with Jac. I kind of talked him into a few days after seeing the movie in a festival. He didn't need much persuading, but hey, he didn't know me very well, I could have been a psycho. ;)

As Ralphus pointed out, Carmen and I do look pretty similar. I've had people mistake me for her when I'm with Jac. It's not exactly nice for me, but hey, it happens. I also look like a much younger version of Jac's ex-wife. Comparing photos of she and I weirds me out a bit. Makes you wonder about him?

This is a huge deal for us, Fangoria and Amazon.com. Really huge. I can't express how excited I am. I wish I was in NYC right now so I could walk into Forbidden Planet (one of my fav comic stores) and start signing the magazine copies for them. Although, they would probably tell me that I'm defacing their property, and throw me out of the store, but hey, a girl can try. :)

When I was a kid, I had a huge stack of Fangoria magazines at my dad's house. My mother wouldn't let me have anything of the kind at her house, because of the "bad vibes". So, being in that very magazine I read with such guilty delight when I was a kid makes me feel like I'm "making it".

This is what we're working towards, being more mainstream, without sacrificing the content we love, no compromises.

BigD - This is forever a conundrum to myself as well. I was talking with Erik, another member of our regular cast and crew about the script he's writing. He was telling me about the opening scene, which is pretty bloody and involves a man doing something violent to a woman. So my first question to him (he wants us to produce the movie) was "Is the woman naked?", followed by "Why does it happen so fast? Logically, if the guy is doing this to the girl, he's enjoying himself, he'll draw it out a bit.", and so forth. Erik felt reluctant to have rape in the scene, or show the aggressor enjoying the torture of his victim.

BigD's question reminded me of something else I've been wondering about. Maybe Amy can answer if she knows. The question is, in crime/horror movies where a victim is found, the detectives collect blood and bodily fluids for testing.......but semen is never shown. Is showing semen (on a fresh victim) a faux pas in mainstream?

I mean even in....let's say, a PKF film, where the actress does a simulated scene, a lot of times fake cum is added for "the money shot" as they call it. So in mainstream, is it something not thought about, or is it something that isn't allowed?

Amy, I think you should think that it WILL happen someday.....and that you should prepare for that cover shot by having some similar pictures taken now. Fully nude of course (can alway put the film strip covers in strategic places). Then post them here for feedback of which one we think would look best. Hey, I can try can't I? :-)

It's an Italian exploitation horror that was so popular during the 1970's, starring Franco Nero (the D is silent), Corinne Clery (if you're a gimper but this name escapes you, start from scratch), and David Hess (love the guy). So, Nero and Clery play Walter & Eve, a bickering couple on vacation near an empty mountain/desert/highway, shown in the first 5 minutes how they despise each other with Walter pointing his hunting rifle to Eve and Eve refusing to have sex with him:

We find out the source of their problem later; it's because Walter is a drunk and temperamental journalist getting to the position he's in now cause Eve's father owns the company he's working for. Eve, obviously, feels she deserves more than the bastard. This fight of theirs continues to the night when Walter opens their trailer door for a couple in the rest area while his wife is changing:

Which leads to more argument with her in this kind of state:

See? I wasn't kidding when I told you the humiliation would be done unwillingly on her expense, huh?

The next day, they continue their trip when they run into a hitchhiker, Adam (Hess), who had his car broke down. Walter tells Eve to ignore the guy but Eve wants to stick it to him and invites Adam in. At first, it looks like everything is fine until Adam notices Eve & Walter aren't actually in love. Adam starts making passes at Eve, much to Walter's wrath. Not because he loves her, but because his ego won't let any guy teasing any girl he couldn't even have. This leads to a fight between Walter & Adam which ends once Adam shows his handgun, revealing himself as an asylum escapee who robbed a bank, leaving his 2 friends and is now on the run.

Walter's ego had enough of this BS and he stops the car, dragging Adam out for a fight. Walter, despite his anger, quickly overpowers Adam but the guy goes for his gun and stops Walter, letting him know he's in control now. Hell, he even makes sure of his role by revealing Eve's underwear. (That's one way to tell everybody you're the boss, BTW. LOL). Long story short, they're stuck with him. Either they take him to Mexico, or he shoots them.

As the movie progresses, it's clear there's no protagonist in this movie. With the exception of maybe Eve, but later it turns out she's not actually the good wife either so I guess I won't call her good. Everybody is selfish and thinks only of themselves. It's nice for a change of pace where nowadays the horror movies are filled with stupid good guys or lame bad guys. Halfway through the movie, the 2 guys who were part of Adam's team caught up with them and attacked them, presumably killing Adam. But later Adam came back and disposed of them, all the while having Eve & Walter in the middle.

The climax (pun intended) came when, the night after killing his former friends, Adam decides to have his way with Eve after Walter mocked him for being an insane psycho. So, he has Eve naked, lying on the desert with Walter restrained across them, before he gets on with it:

What starts as a rape, suddenly takes a turn Straw Dogs style when Eve replies to Adam's advances:

We see Eve & Walter exchanging looks. Walter puts his head down, but more than likely because he's finally sure there are no more feelings between him and Eve. Once they're finished, Adam boasts to Walter how good a time he showed Eve:

Adam & Eve return to the trailer (giving Walter a chance to escape his ropes) before Adam returns to mock Walter, but Walter casually returns the words and angers Adam. Before Adam can shoot Walter, however, Eve shoots Adam from behind the trailer with Walter's hunting rifle, killing him:

Walter & Eve regain their composure and set out to hide Adam's body in the garage, and take the money. Eve, though, seems like she still has some reservations over what happened. Walter, realizing this might prove troublesome for his plan, mocks Eve by saying she must have really enjoyed the Adam treatment. They bicker again and it becomes clear there's just no uniting these two. Not even a maniac with a gun could do that.

The next day, on the highway, Walters gets into trouble with some teenagers, ending with the teens sabotaging the road and making the car trips. The teenagers get Walter's pockets, but stupidly leave out the bagful of money, something Walter laughs at once he recollects his composure.

Miraculously, the temperamental man escapes uninjured while Eve seems to suffer from a broken back. Eve tearfully asks Walter to help, but Walter dismisses it easily, all the while grabbing the money and getting out of the car. Noticing the gas leaks out thanks to the accident, Walter drags Adam's body out of the trunk and places it near Eve, giving Adam & Eve a chance to be together for the last time. With an evil intent on his eyes, Walter lights the gas and leaves as Eve is burnt alive alongside the car. The movie ends with Walter, now carrying loads of dollars, trying to hitch hike his way to Mexico.

Okay, so aside from being a massive opportunity of humiliating Clery, this movie is an amazing horror movie to watch, if only for the ending alone! This gets an A from me!

My only familiarity with this movie came from a clip of campfire scene. Thanks to your review, I now understand more about what was going on in that scene.

I would like to add that the DVD is available for an attractive price at Amazon.

Speaking of attractive, I always felt that Corinne Clery was one of the most beautiful women to ever walk the earth. It's why I went to see Story of O four times when it was playing in the cinema.

Well, that and the whipping.

Movies Unlimited kindly sent me a link to a web article entitled Five Things that Define a Classic Film. Briefly, the five factors that make a film a classic are said to be:

1. It is re-watchable
2. Memorable performances
3. The feeling you get whenever you watch it [duh]
4. Recognition (or lack thereof), i.e., everybody knows about it, or it is a forgotten gem
5. Quotes

With the exception of #5, I think these criteria can also be applied to GIMP scenes. Generally, the success of a GIMP scene does not depend greatly upon dialog, so finding memorable quotes is rather challenging (although I'll never forget the girl being forced to say, "Thank you Mr. Rapist, for choosing me," in Act of Vengeance).

I propose that the fifth criterion for elevating a GIMP scene to classic status should be the scenario itself. Is there something about it that makes it stand out from the crowd? For example:

~ Amy Hesketh whipped while riding a wooden horse in Maleficarum
~ The flamethrower scene in Don't Go in the House
~ The 17-minute dungeon scene from Poor Cecily featuring multiple victims, whipping/racking combos and hot iron branding.

Well, you get the idea.

@A Canadian: That's an interesting POV about Hess, but I felt like without that "typecasting" he wouldn't have become the cult figure he is today. He must be in the top 10 Male Exploitation Stars ever, if not in number 1.

And glad u enjoy the review. There's a lot of unwillingness going around in the movie, and to my memory, you'd like that. It's actually a reason why I chose to review the movie, BTW. Because, although Corrine Clery made a good submissive, I'm sure she'd make a good unwilling victim as well and it just shows in the movie.

@Yik Yakker: Yeah, I was shocked too when I realized the movie hasn't been reviewed. But maybe it has something to do with it being rare even among the exploitation cinema, so there's an explanation at least.

And glad to know you like Ms. Clery that much, then again, who doesn't? Sometimes I wonder if she was actually whipped for real in O, you know?

And about the quotes part...actually, I think if cheesy quotes can be counted as memorable quotes, there's lots of that in many GIMP movies. Though, of course, they're cheesy and sleazy. :P

As we are talking and posting images of GIMPers and animals... well, one of the best scenes ever, and in a mainstream movie to top it off, is the Worm Rape Scene in "Galaxy of Terror".

A Canadian: It's unfortunate that Yuma is going the way of many actresses and slimming herself down to nothing as she gets older. From the picture you posted, it looks like Yuma has broader shoulders than her colleague Akiho...that means Yuma can afford to have a bit more meat on her slightly larger frame.

Sometimes it seems like women try to overcompensate and end up looking too gaunt, which is not sexy.
