Absolutely true. Lacking any feedback, good or bad you're left in a dark, unable to gauge yourself. And a pessimist like me* always assume the worst.

JD

* pessimist or realist, terms are interchangable.
My take is the following. If this site was a huge social media site, reactions to posts would be, perhaps, needed. However, this is very particular, members only, GIMP oriented website that people join because they like the stuff. If they like some pictures more than others, does it matter? Not really. Thousands of hits on posts is a clear sign that people are enjoying the stuff, their presence is proof enough, don't you think?

In my case, I know that people like the stuff I post, I don't care how many exactly. My interest is that people who like the movies I promote go to the store and get them. When people get one film and then another and then another, that tells me they are enjoying the films.

At the end of the day, if people keep coming for more it is because they like the shit. Period.

True and very pragmatic. You have your metrics of success right there, in number of sales. To me it's more complicated as I don't run subscription sites or patreon/starsubscriber formats so it's not easy to divine if I'm still relevant to anyone.

I usually leave a comment out of appreciation and gratitude for something I like that is shared free of charge. But I don't know enough about the creative tools or process to be able to offer a critique or any constructive criticism on any artists work, and I won't make a negative comment unless I can explain why I don't like it as much. Often times there's nothing wrong with it technically, rather it just doesn't work well for me...... not stimulating enough (for me).

Also, sometimes I feel if I compliment too often or too much, that I lose 'credibility' and my remarks will eventually won't mean very much. I like, and save, most everything posted here and perhaps I should comment more often. But you JD, and Frog, yyy02, Oz. and all the other creators are the reason I'm here every day, and what you do is appreciated.

Thanks m8 ... hope people don't confuse my attention whoring with a need for compliments, far from it. I'd like to see a critical post as much as a positive one. What I need to know is if I'm still relevant or I'm that weirdo among weirdos that have erections watching the keyhole and have a thread talking about that. With images as well.

Come to momma you sexy, sexy thing ....

Your comments and contributions are definitely noted, and appreciated! Thanks wulf! They make a difference as far as feeling that any work is not just flying off into the ether, and also give a bigger sense of "community".

Absolutely. The teasing that comes after is also part of it.

I love the rack scene, but the bottom one gets the blue ribbon for creativity.
