JD's bazaar
Re: JD's bazaar
And finally, the big day, the day when our heroines will be auctioned, branded and will find their place of labour. After having the wooden yoke removed Ciri is looking to the vicious bruises on her wrists and neck left after a month of constant wear of the heavy device. Her turn on the auction block will come soon.
Probably the last image for a while.

Re: JD's bazaar
The last three are beautifully done. Remind me of "decadent" 19th century art.
Re: JD's bazaar
Thanks. A lot of work but I enjoy it.
By the lack of reaction despite some 400+ views one might conclude that Ralph's board is not the place to go get your decadent 19th century art, heh (I loved about that period their slavery trade depiction plus the invariably nude slaves, a thin veiled attempt to bring respectability to our long supressed desire for titillation in times before PornHub).

Forgot about this one. The night before, in the slaves pen.

Despite the sporadic nature of my reactions, I can assure you that your Witcher artwork is the main reason I visit the forum. In fact, my link to Ralph’s board points directly to this thread and then I read the rest of the forum if I had the time.doe.1971 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 9:31 pm

…by the way, I just started watching “The Legend of the Seeker” just to better enjoy your artwork on the subject. No kidding.
There’s just something about having prior knowledge of a fictional character when you see a GIMP depiction of them. I can’t really understand why. I might create a thread to discuss this.

Oh yeah ... Half of the stuff I make is unpublishable as it includes women from my real life. For people I wouldn't harm to save my life, I have some of the most gruesome fantasies ... go figure.
Thanks for the encouraging words, it's difficult for us* to continue to make shit if no one cares about and all you get is crickets ... makes me think maybe I'm one of those many people in the field with enthusiasm but lack of skill that people politely ignore, instead of tellig him directly that he sucks. The reason I wanted a structured forum is to 'shield' people that might dislike my shit from being constantly bombarded with it, as was the case in the old format. Little did I know that the new format wouldn't be any better for integrating new posts in a seamless stream, as I hoped.
@skullchaser: Thanks, appreciated.

* I had a long discussion in private with the regretted Fritz once trying to undestand why as creators we need feedback, what makes us attention whores, if you like. The consensus was that as social, tribal creatures we assign valor to ourselves in relation directly with the perceived hierarchy, rather than a hard to quantify intrinsec value.

download/file.php?id=8355&mode=view The action in this one might help explain why the bruises in Ciri's neck and wrists were not just due to the long trek through the desert locked into that contraption. Your folder grows again.
As to the lack of responses, you are an old timer in this forum. You know there is a culture of not commenting on what one does or says. On the other hand, criticism is hard to swallow and many shy away from causing offense. As to having like or dislike buttons, that really doesn't solve much, because it basically says nothing of value to whomever gets the like or dislike, except that somebody likes or doesn't like whatever. The crucial thing, why the like or dislike, is left in the dark.
I would add to your "The consensus was that as social, tribal creatures we assign valor to ourselves in relation directly with the perceived hierarchy, rather than a hard to quantify intrinsic value." Our human nature (even though many propose there is no such thing) is also geared towards public perception (reputation) and approval. That, often times, is more important than skill or ability.

Absolutely true. Lacking any feedback, good or bad you're left in a dark, unable to gauge yourself. And a pessimist like me* always assume the worst.
