This is the last item I have with our now-infamous photo. I suspect the photo first entered the awareness of metal album cover artists with the release of the movie "10 Days in a Madhouse".

------------------------------------------------------

I made a web page to allow easier comparison of the album covers.
https://bcotd.com/Madhouse-a/index.html

I 've done my best to find the release dates of the various items. In rough chronological order, it looks like this:

Hell Icon 'Cruciamentum Excitare Igneus Clamavi Numinis Potestas' digital (2010?)
10 Days in a Madhouse [DVD] [2015]
Ohtar 'Euthanasia of Existence' (2016) LP Deathrune Records, Poland
Disclaimer 'The Recluse' (2016) self released
Deadlife 'Perphyria' (2016)
Dybbuk 'Hitori Kakurenbo' (2017) single
Parade of Suffering 'Horrible Relief ' (2017) 7'' album, Deep Six Records #256
Necrocracy 'Extolment of Barbarism' (2018) single
Razorback Hollow 'Into the Mouth of the Great Mutilator' (2018)
Defy the Tyrants 'Asylum' (2019) EP
Borgne 'Y' (2020) LADLO Productions, Switzerland
Saviorskin 'Omnipotence of the Absolute' (2020) CD album Horror Pain Gore Death Productions - HPGD239 (Design by Mike Juliano)
The Black Mass 'Untold Secrets of the Occult' (2021) Magick Kult
JB Run 'Mad Bells' (2021) single Phonk House
p6nk 'Left' (2021) album
Omnism (@omnismband) Unknown date
Spawn 'The Segment' Unknown dates
That's an amazing effort, and a good record of death metal albums. Very interesting, and thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to know where/how that photo originated (or did I miss that?)

Well this might be true. I think I also read the photo was attributed to the 1920's.

Yes, that's what I remembered. It seems very difficult to determine for sure when and where the photo came from.

I'd be willing to bet that is one of John Willy's art images. It certainly resembles his style and time frame. I looked through my files and couldn't find it, so I could be wrong.

Nice image though.

It does bear some resemblance to John Willie's usual style, but I don't recognize it. There were lots of engravings in books and magazines of images in this style.
