Unfortunately for our Nora huntress, she was not a good fit for her house slave duty. Too adversarial, too outspoken, too independent. After irritating one too many of the visitors, it was decided to be sent back to manual labor camp. To mark this loss in status, heavy iron rings are fitted by the local blacksmith instead of the fine, slim, gold rings of the courtesans. This are not removable pleasure rings but permanent affixtures secured in place with heavy pliers.

I can't make up my mind about the illumination. On one hand you can go with daylight, good spatial shading, good details, on the other a night scene is promising without revealing. Which one do you like more? Let me know.

Alternative view. Which do you prefer?

I like both, but the nocturnal one is more tense. The lamp on the right however seems too modern. A brazier with coals and irons would have been better.

I'm not sure, the description says "Norse Whale Oil Lamp". Can't be too modern I reckon.

The problem with the braziers as sources of light is that they produce an intense colored light, to be realistic and the whole image comes tinted. Example below.

I didn't want this here, I want to be able to compare daylight with night light in equal terms. To that end I kept even the direction of light and approximatively same intensity on Aloy similar in both cases.

Just my two cents since you asked for comments. As you know I know next to nothing about Aloy and her world, so if you say a norse oil lamp fits in well I will take your word for it.

I LOVE comments. I love any reaction, insults included.

Aloy world is a post-apocalyptic gone back to the Stone Age tribal society. Everything old fits in there, in this setting.

I love when you show examples in your technical discussions. Gives me something to do while you guys do the work stuff.

Where I tried the best of both worlds of illumination, you tell me how successfully.
So, on top of the residual lightning, there's a punctiform light, square attenuation for the details but hopefully not strong enough to dispel the whole 'in the dark mystique'. Let me know if it's an improvement. It's hard for me to judge after having it under my eyes for one hour.

I'll just admit I didn't understand a word of that and say... I like it better because now I can see my favorite toy working between her legs quite clearly. Pretty much a money shot for me. 8-)
