JD's bazaar

I found this posted on the Crux forum.

Re: JD's bazaar
yeah, not a new one though. But you know me, I rejoice when people repost my crap. That's the reason I don't bother with watermarks or precious signatures. If it gives someone a hard-on, so be it.

Re: JD's bazaar
Thought so. Just wanted to know for sure. I like to ID artists when someone else posts their work.
I'm glad to know you're ok with it as I like to post your art over there (crux) once in a while.

Re: JD's bazaar
The (ridiculous) desire to control the Internet destiny of things creators make is directly proportional with the sense of self-worth, I guess. The better you think you are in this trade, the more in charge you want to be. Large logos, strong watermarks, screams at those found to offend by altering, cropping or changing your work in any way ...
While understandable for people like Jucundus, who has a brand to defend, others are pathetic. I've seen many time authors who were barely able to find their way about basic functions in 3D screaming the most for perceived violation to their 'precious' work. Gimme a break, will you? Use that energy to study the laws of composition in photography, a better use of your time.
Myself I never see as gifted in any special way. Maybe lucky to have a career rather than a job so there's plenty of time to render this or that in leisure and with no financial constraints. I'm certainly not that important to fret over people changing my brainfarts more to their liking or jerking off to them in unauthorized ways. Not me, sir.

Re: JD's bazaar
I well know your feelings on this subject, and that you don't crave the recognition that some others do. But to set the record straight, that's not the reason I like to id an artists work on a forum, though that may happen in some cases.doe.1971 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:45 pmThe (ridiculous) desire to control the Internet destiny of things creators make is directly proportional with the sense of self-worth, I guess. I'm a serious collector of artwork on this subject, and if I see an image I like I always want to know who the artist is so I can search for more if there is any. So I imagine that there are many younger folks interested in these subjects that aren't as knowledgeable about the artists, and that's why I try to id creators if I can.
If I were younger and new to this scene, and came across some of your images, I would definitely want to know who made them and where to find more. Because to my eye, they are very good and very much worth having.

People like you used to be called encyclopedists in the 18th century France and they were considered the pinnacle of knowledge in a gentlemen society.

Re: JD's bazaar
Well thank you my friend. It's nice to have a title that sounds better than 'dirty old man sadist'.

Re: JD's bazaar
We are all that, dirty, old and probably 99% male sadists here. That wouldn't be a good discriminator. But people obsessed with sorting everything, cataloging, labeling are called encyclopedists. Takes a good dose of OCD as well.
Re: JD's bazaar
I've always thought I had a touch of OCD to be honest. My siblings always accused me of being a 'perfectionist'.

I was replaying Witcher 2, the Enhanced Edition and among new content added, there's a letter that describe the torment of Baroness Mary Louise La Valetta in her own castle dungeon, aside from the whipping and the threat with red irons. Somehow before the ordeal, when it was judged by the torturer that she's not ready yet to talk and she was put on the rack. No graphics scenes, just a letter found in a random place in Act III. And yet, it made me think ...
