Last job for Kassandra was a bust. The intended target, a minor Greek tyrant was tipped off and organized an ambush capturing Kassandra. The unlucky mistios was subjected to the usual brutality meted to captured men, culminating with a long torture on the spit. A device made of two adjustable rods keeping the prisoner in place, while allowing the torturers unimpeded access to all the points of interest.

In time, the rods will be extended little by little for an excruciating death but for now the punishment consist of burning of the soles and putting the teats of the prisoner in scalding water.

In the morning a Baron still in hungover assists at the final preparations. Ciri has been introduced in the demeritium cage, a special device designed for safe transportation of the convicted practicians of magic in the Northern Kingdoms. Manacles attached with short chains to each limb, a short trestle with a rounded cylinder of the same material enters deep into the womb of the prisoner while a neck restrain doubled with a gagging metal ball ensure that no spell can be casted while in transit.

After the final screws tightening is complete, the cargo will be loaded on the waiting cart.

I'm kind of with you on the scene - burning at the stake is only mildly interesting to me. It's more a form of execution rather than slow torture. I think you've done some images with a heroine roped to a spit over hot coals - that's more my cup of tea, though even that wouldn't last all that long. But it might be several hours rather than fifteen minutes . . .
