Experiments - Interrogation by the inquisitor
The year has started quite well for me in terms of the number of releases. I have published 16 images so far. After that, I took a little break. Quite deliberately. I want to rethink my way of working and my style.
In my publications, I've noticed that more and more AI images are on the rise, especially on Renderotica. On RR this is almost inflationary. However, there is a large quantity, not always quality.
But what I have noticed with many AI images is that the images are very well color-coordinated in some themes. Especially in the fantasy genre. The results are wonderful.
You probably remember the wonderful CG artist Roadrunner. With his outstanding series "Malsavia 1335 AD", to name just a few of his works.
Roadrunner once said that about 50% of his work is 3D generated and the rest is postwork.
At the time, I didn't see it that way, because with DS and the possibilities it offers, postwork could be dispensed with in many cases.
Now, however, I have decided to take a little more time to post-process my images. I want to rethink the style of my images. I want to achieve the visual quality of AI images.
But at the moment that's the only thing I want to learn from it. At the moment, AI-generated images are in no way a replacement for our CG images.
I have created an image as a template for post-processing. See image 01 and my first result can be seen in image 02. I don't know yet whether I will like it in the long run. I will do some more post-processing.

It's always good to step back and rethink your work and your style. That is what a true artist on any field is supposed to do.artur-ae wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 3:22 am Experiments - Interrogation by the inquisitor

Regarding AI, I agree with you. I imagine that, like nascent photography when it was criticized by some artists as being too easy, it will emerge as an art form with lousy and very good AI artists. The lousy ones will be the ones that will just be satisfied with whatever AI dishes out and will not spend time truly mastering it.
I seem to like the lighting on the bottom pic more than the top pic. It reminds me of a sunset glow.

And I also prefer the post work image. I especially like the plump gray-haired witch being warmed up in the background. Very, very nice, and thanks for sharing. Wishing you success as you experiment.

Fresh meat for the boss.
I can't help it. Sometimes it has to be AI.

Re: Art by Artur-AE
Prologue
I have created another AI image. "A western journalist in Afghanistan".
The advantage over CG images is that there are no significant costs. With CG images there are costs for the figures, hair, clothing, environments etc...
The disadvantage of AI images is that you can't make series because the AI does what it wants. If a character is described and created in one prompt, it usually looks very different in the next creation.
This picture here consists of four separately created pictures. These individual images were put together in a photo editing program. The interrogation room was the basis. The basis for the woman and the Taliban warrior were CG pose pictures. The facial expressions, skin, hair and clothing were created by the AI according to the prompts.
One advantage of AI over other photo manipulations is that if you don't depict celebrities, you don't have any copyright problems. But problems, maybe with ethnic groups. Maybe.

An example, your Afghanistan character in a pic taken from "my" thread, original character was https://ralphus.net/thegimpforum/viewto ... 625#p46625 (2nd pic)
The photostory 'The Ordeal of Alejandra' https://ralphus.net/thegimpforum/viewto ... ?f=3&t=822 has a repetitive redhead character, I am using a faceswapper (even showing her younger and with glasses, in a flashback).

Good to know. While still in its infancy, that's the way of the future. Probably there will be dedicated tools for kink like us where you prompt it like 'inquisition, rack, topless, dark' and get a selection fit for your taste. I guess it's enough of us to be viable. Unless the govt will step in to protect the dignity of women or something like this.
Re: Art by Artur-AE
Thanks for your valuable advice on keeping the same characters. Slowly, the low-cost AI seems to be taking off. But there is still a long way to go before this type of image becomes useful for series. Particularly important are consistent backgrounds with consistent characters, which can be shown from different directions.
Given the pace of AI development, it won't be long before useful tools are available on the market. As always, it's a question of cost. How much are you prepared to spend.
I noticed the similar or identical characters in your boards. Naive as I am, I thought you were writing particularly detailed prompts. I myself will turn to the subject of AI from time to time. Let's see how it develops.
I like your pictures.
