Thanks y3. The seriousness of the issue cannot be stressed too much. As wulf said, it's not your location that matters, but the fact that the mention is to a *government* official, current or former. In the case of the US, a few other sources of vicious swarms of alphabet boys are the FAA, FEC, SEC, and the venerable CFTC. These guys don't take prisoners. Other countries likely have similar authorities.
