I didn't think they could possibly still be used. Thanks for putting me right. Can you get them from amazon? I remember reading that that a rope with two knots in it could be used by tightening it around the head.

I meant that comment in the sense of general cruelty and suffering that we are still willing to inflict on each other in the real life world of today. I wasn't referring to particular device, and I doubt it's still in use today.

Do excuse my thick head. It is incredible how inventive cruelty can be. Back in the inquisition days they certainly had devious imaginations to come up with so many ways of inflicting pain.
