The Scourge And The Passion

Image

Words matter and my words seem to matter a lot more than I thought. I understand that.

Seditiosa is, still, in its development stage and maybe it is necessary for me to give some more insight about what it means in our world. The world of movie making, that is.

A project begins with an idea, which then it turns into a concept and then the development starts with the writing of the script. A film can be in development for years, like, for instance, 69 Année Érotique, or months, like Maleficarum, or days or maybe a hours, like Le Marquis De La Croix.

In the case of Seditiosa, the proposal came to us in July and it had a basic script, which was very much based on the original story, that of the gospels with a woman in the place of The Christ. A Female Christ.

Image
A nice picture from a big supporter

Once the proposal was approved, it entered the first stage of development, The Script.

There are some elements to the story that are obvious and will be needed in the film, costumes, locations, props. it’s a period film. That’s when Seditiosa entered a second stage of development, the work for Fundraising.

But we can’t start the fundraising without some idea of who our main cast will be, particularly our Female Christ, so, Seditiosa entered the first stage of pre-production, The Casting. It was obvious who would be cast in the roles of the three women who will be crucified. To Jac it was even more obvious that the one to be the FC was Simonne, who had a brilliant performance during her crucifixion in Monxa Mala.

That’s where we are right now.

Image

The Script has its demands, one of them is the development of the characters and that in itself has its own demands, their background, specially that of our main character.

Jac was in France at one point, he was working on the casting for Martyr, Camille was working with him and he had a small team doing the footwork. One in the team, Olivier, became the official AD, (Assistant Director). Another member of his casting team, Gerome, the man manning the camera at the time, had extensive experience in film.

As Jac discussed his script with them, because they were looking for very important leading characters, Gerome kept asking Why. Like a 4 year old child that needs to know the why to everything.

Image

Jac understood. You cannot have a scene without a reason for it, and it has to lead to another scene with its own reason for existence, and then another one… and so on. So… the big question when writing a script is WHY?

Why is our female christ the way she is? Why are her disciples following her? Why is she arrested, beaten and crucified? Why, why, why …

For the story of The Christ there are all those scrolls dating back to a few thousand years BC. Most in the form of re-interpreted prophesy. Does the prophesy apply to our FC?

That’s where the background comes in and that’s where Jac is in the script.

Image
Another nice picture from our big supporter

I was recently watching the HBO series Rome, because I wanted to see some costumes from those days. I love the series now, I’m hooked. One thing that I can say is that I saw 25,000 dollars on every shot. I kept saying to myself, that shot cost 25,000, that other shot too… and the other… the entire scene probably cost a couple of hundred thousand… and the episode, a couple of million, if not more… yes…

In our case, an extra will probably be on the low end of the spectrum, that extra, who has nothing to say except be there, in the crowd, will cost around 25 per day. If we need that extra for 4 days, she or he will cost 100 bucks, right there. 50 of those extras, if we want a nice looking crowd, would cost 5,000!

That is the cost if the extras are naked, of course. If the extras wear something like a robe, sandals, head scarf and so on … well, then we need to add more to the budget and to be on the really cheap side, that’s another 1500 just for the Extras!

Image

Another important, very important issue The Atmosphere, the way the film will look, the way the streets, the fields, everything within the sight of the lens will look and what kind of ambience we have to create to give the film the right tone, the awesome style it needs.

To accomplish this we are scouting places where we might be able to create the look of the times we want to recreate. Not an easy task in South America where the Roman Empire had no presence. The first European architecture influence arrived in the 1500s. All colonial. We have to go back a thousand years or more. Do we have to build a Middle East city? That would be too costly… maybe some adobe walls painted in orange would to the trick. Lot’s of dark orange brown walls in those times.

Image

The production details of the movie comes much later, when everything else is in place, the script, the funds, the locations, the costumes, the cast, the crew and so on. Then, and only then, Jac will sit with his production team and design the shots and the look of the film itself.

That’s when he’ll instruct the make-up people on how he wants the lashes on the women’s skin to look like, knowing that as each of the victims receive each lash, the effect of the lash marking the skin is created right away, but it must be preserved for continuity. The marks left by the lash must be photographed, they must be worked on for the next angle, the next shot, the next scene… and that is the work of production, not of development, or pre production. And that will be done when its time comes.

Image

But the marks of whip is the one issue in constant discussion.
wanttoknowmore: You have mentioned the Mel Gibson film a few times. I certainly hope you are not using that unrealistic blood fest as the basis for the whipping and crux scenes in Seditiosa. I know of no one outside the religious fringe that thought it was a great film. With regard to fund raising, once your Indygogo link is up and a production schedule is indeed finalized, you may get beeter results. Some may not want to do the Pateron thing, as they feel the movie will be used on other projects instead of the Seditiosa film. Be honest on your plans with regard to what you plan on doing (the stuff you have shared with regard to the plot and scences that I have seen sound terrific, except for my long running concern that they girls in general and main charater in particular will be beaten to a point of idiotacy from a trauma level to complete the walk and last any time crucified). Many where VERY upset at the promise of a great crux scene at the end of Justine, only to have whatever that was actually released. AND stick to your schedule of filming and release. I get the impression things are already “slipping”.
Iconoclast12: I understand the importance of dialogue and feedback, but these comments are incredibly unfair. You yourself have been interacting with Margot on the Patreon, and she has been consistently responding to your comments and questions. And nothing in her latest post implies that she is trying to imitate the Passion of the Christ.
wanttoknowmore: I truely hope you are right. It just seems that The Passion of the Christ film keeps being mentioned. Maybe I am reading too much into it.
Crucified Life: I myself only mentioned the Gibson Film in response to you mentioning it earlier so it certainly wasn’t me who knows something more about what they are doing. I think (and hope) it is just you reading too much into it like you said. I don’t think the final product will look like the Gibson film. Probably more like Jesus of Nazareth 1977, or maybe Lamb of God in terms of look and style, only female and with far greater emphasis on the crucifixion in terms of the proportion of time of the film that deals with the physical crucifixion side of things.
The Passion of the Christ is one film we use as reference for a number of things. It cost 25,000,000, and we’re trying to raise 25,000. Mel Gibson used his own money to produce it, which means no studio would touch it, and he made 600,000,000 mostly because of the large religious fringe, which obviously is quite large. I wonder how many patrons we would have if we were appealing to them for a film exactly like The Passion of the Christ. One idea that comes to mind is…. wait for it… The Rapture!

Another reason we use The Passion of The Christ as reference is to make comparisons with other films on the subject, like The Last Temptation or J of Nazareth and how other movie makers dealt with the issues in the story, particularly the scourging and the crucifixion.

We are not ready to go into detail of what the scenes will look like because we don’t have a budget yet. Not only that, we don’t have the locations, the props, the costumes. So, we don’t know, we can only discuss the possible scenarios.

We cannot imitate other films because we don’t have 25,000,000, not even 1 million…. we hope to have more than 10,000 and see how far we can take that cash. We did pretty well with Justine, considering the non favorable conditions Jac had to work with.

Image
TomHoff: Agreed on the Justine crucifixion scene. I don’t know what the production values of that film were, but that scene was very disappointing. The nailing wasn’t even shown, the girls were completely passive, and I really don’t like the scaffolding aesthetic. I really hope Seditiosa goes in a different direction.

As for Patreon and support, what wanttoknowmore says is probably true. Some people might be waiting to have more clarity on the project before they jump on board. Indiegogo will probably help. Another thing that will help I think is once you have some images from the movie, consider sharing them in other threads in this forum. They don’t have to be images from production because by that point it’s probably too late, but even concept images or early rehearsals will be good. If you are looking to get the level of support escalating quickly, I think people will need to see something that gets them excited and dispels doubts. Proof of concept if you will. Maybe you can consider making title posters of all the main characters, or digital composite images. Just throwing some ideas out there.

I’ll be curious to see what kind of material the Indiegogo campaign will have too.
Justine was not about a crucifixion, it was about Justine and her multiple misadventures in despair, and not all of them. Most of the story takes place in Rodin’s realm, his dungeon, his bedroom, his house exterior, all of which was nicely built with all those props, particularly The Wheel. The crucifixion scene was not central to the story, it was an epilogue and there were some issues with the production at that time that worked against it.

Seditiosa is about the crucifixion, that’s the central theme of the film and all the attention will go to dramatize that central part of the story, like the dungeon scenes in Justine did for Ronin’s drama with his ladies.

Having said that, the production will depend a lot on how much money we will have when we begin shooting the film.

We don’t have pictures of the movie because the movie has not been made. We won’t have pictures of rehearsal until the time we start rehearsing, we won’t have pictures of the locations, or the costumes, or the props, until we have them and to have all that we need to find some cash. Thus, if we need to show the movie before we make the movie then we’re in a bind.

And that’s how things go.

Image
joek0: I agree with the fact that Justine’s crux scene was not the best even though the other aspects of the film were pretty good. I was an Associate Producer level backer for Justine and the lack of a good crux scene in Justine disappointed me. I know however that you guys can deliver with a great Passion Play crux scene since the one at the end of Monxa Mala was very good. The crux scene at the end of Monxa Mala is my most favorite crux scene by Jac so far and I feel that it can be even better in Seditiosa. I may not be able to be able to invest as much into Seditiosa as I did with Justine due to personal reasons, but I hope the Indiegogo campaign goes well for you

Monxa Mala was about the torture and crucifixion of the nuns. All 6 nuns suffered torture, 2 of them died on The Rack, the other four were crucified, not at the same time, but in pairs. Through out the entire movie someone was being torture, sometimes two or three at the same time. The entire production was dedicated to their torments and the production work was intensely concentrated on the central theme of the film, the priest going nuts and torturing anything that moved. Each torture planned and carried out with overwhelming details.

Image

Everything in Seditiosa leads to the crucifixion of the FC and her two companions in pain. And here comes the comparison to The Passion of the Christ again. That film was about the last couple of days in the life of Christ, it concentrated on his arrest, scourging and crucifixion, with some silly flashbacks to his better days with his mom.

Seditiosa won’t go back to her good old days with mom and siblings. The reason or reasons for what is to come will be stablished in the first 20 minutes of the film… in Jac’s current work, it means in the first 20 pages of the script, and then it will go into the nitty gritty of the story. The troubles, the arrests, the scourging, the sentencing, the walk to the Skull’s Hill, the crucifixion, the agony on the cross… and the end. That’s at least 70 minutes of extensive suffering for all three of our leading ladies. There’s no surprise ending, we all know how it will end, the story deals with the how it got to that point and the question to answer in the story is WHY?

Another Nazarene?

Image

To anyone looking from the outside, and to some in the inside, there’s chaos at Pachamama Films / Red Feline HQ. Total chaos, it appears that way. Chaos is not always negative, it means something is happening that requires some measures to be taken and to be taken right away.

There are always obstacles of all kinds that appear on the road taken. We are facing a few of those moments. One of those is and it always will be the economic one, but that is a recurring issue that began in 1998, when we started the non stop production of movies, over 60 movies since then, and it will continue to be so for the next centuries to come.

Then there are those obstacles that are particular to a project, like needs that haven’t been covered, or mental blocks, or the crashing of ideas, or the indifference of the many, or the deadlines approaching hard on and so many others.

But when halos appear around the sun, like it happened in La Paz just now, then we’re in for a big storm or something as huge as an earthquake. One thing is for sure, something is going to be shaking or storming or climaxing.

Image

It is the first day of Spring here, Equinox, as they call it, it’s also the day of youth, love, students and everything bright and shinny. And yet…

Yesterday we posted at Patreon something we’ve been preparing for a couple of days, the background to the story of Seditiosa. As Jac note down his critical points to What Moves our FC, he interjected one conjecture:

And a last note. We were exploring the possibility of changing the title of the film from Seditiosa to something like Yahel The Nazarene, we did a search to see if that exists somewhere and… It Does!

https://www.patreon.com/posts/what-moves-yahel-71883083

Say what? Changing the title?

Changing a title is not uncommon, of course.

When Amy gave her first script to Jac, it was titled, Monsieur Montez. Jac liked it, he produced it and Amy directed her first feature film. The title was changed to Sirwiñakuy in the middle of post production because Jac thought that the old Aymara tradition of kidnapping a woman for a marriage trial was more appropriate to the story, it even had a song, which was very nice, Amy agreed and it was changed.

https://vimeo.com/127071041

The same happened with Maleficarum. The project began with the title Santo Oficio (Holy Office) and again, as Jac began to work on the production it occurred to him that the best title for a film about the inquisition is, of course, Maleficarum!

Other films titles were clear cut, Justine, Olalla, Barbazul (Bluebeard).

And as Jac was working with the script for Seditiosa, with a title that he picked and liked because he felt that it fit the story well, he got involved with the aforementioned background which in turn gave his characters more complex motivations to their actions and a deeper meaning to the outcome, something about 5 scrolls and old secrets and a famous line of healers and writers, all women, that are the protagonist lineage … and what it all means.

Then the name of the central character came up as part of the title, and perhaps because of films like Jesus Of Nazareth, or The Passion of Christ, or King of Kings… which describe or imply the main character in the title, in those cases, Jesus.

Oh the tribulations! One phrase popped up in his brain when he least expected, Yahel The Nazarene. A quick search in google showed a couple of results with the entire phrase, one of which is someone claiming to be the second coming of Christ and another an Israeli musician, along with a bunch of images of pretty women with the name Yael or Yahel.

He imagined the poster with the possible new title.

Image

After his search and some meditation and exchange of ideas with his five cats and two of his pillows, Jac concluded that he needs to think about it and gave himself two days to decide. The new title, if there’s a new title, has to be part of the IndieGoGo campaign.

In the meantime, the other source of chaos, the up and coming production of 69 Année Érotique, has its own little and big details to work on, including some events in the lives of the protagonists that affect the scheduling.

Jac has to set a date before Friday, when the four protagonists will have a meeting of the minds and bodies and one new face, Geraldine, will go through her first test in front of the cameras, where Jac will show her the ropes… of what can happen with a nasty looking whip.

Image

All things are coming to a climax… indeed!

The Coming Storm

Image

Sometime ago Jac shot a music video for Erix. Lots of green screen work because the character in the clip does a number of things and the background behind her changes a lot, long story. Jac is also working on the editing of that clip and he captured a couple of shots of Simonne, who plays the girl in the clip, and added some background pictures from the series Rome, which I shared with him, and created a weird image using the name of the main character in Seditiosa. The result:

Image

After the amazing sight of those halos around the sun, people began to wait for the coming storm… because it is said that when those halos form around the sun it means a storm is building up… and yet… no storm!

And the same is happening at our HQ, we’re expecting the big storm and it’s not showing up, but as we wait, we know that a lot is happening behind the scenes, behind the big skull… right in the center of those brain cells that keep pumping up ideas and imagining scenes.

Image

Jac got physical again, there were no meetings the week that is ending, a couple of those scheduled meetings were postponed because of various reasons. The main cast of those two movies in pre production had some things to do outside the work and Jac needs to organize too many things, so it was fine to cancel meeting and get physical, at times, drilling holes with a drill bit that is meant for metal, not cement… but I don’t really know how that works, moving all those books, tapes, and all those big and little things that belong on the shelfs, and more.

The set for 69 Année Érotique is almost done, a bit more decorative details and it will all be ready to start the production of A Bizzarre And Quite Erotic Version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Jac is preparing the scheduling, which is, in itself, time consuming.

Image
Eulalia: Yahel is the biblical Jael who hammered a tent-peg through the head of the Canaanite commander Sisera when he was sleeping off the drink she’d plied him with (Judges chapters 4-5). In Hebrew, the word apparently means a mountain goat, which I think is rather a nice name for a feisty young woman. Not that any of that matters, it’s a good name. Maleficarum was just right, at least it rings a bell for anyone who knows of the Malleus Maleficarum – though literally it’s genitive plural, ‘of witches’, MM is ‘The Hammer of Witches’.
Yah means God, as in Yah, Yahel means Power of God, but Yael has also a couple of other different meanings. Jac loved the name Yael when he first came across it and decided to name the main character in the female christ movie, Yahel.

Image

In Maleficarum, the inquisitor, with his last breath, whispers out Maleficarum! before dying, while pointing with a shaky hand at the two women he had tortured and executed. For the inquisitor, both Marianne and Francisca are witches.

Image
Eulalia: Thinking about the setting – I think a lot of portrayals of the life and crucifixion of Christ tend to overdo the ‘Roman’ aspect. While Jerusalem of course had the Temple, and some grand public buildings, most of the ordinary dwellings even in the city would have been quite simple brick or even adobe type buildings, and in the villages and small towns of Galilee even more so. I think older parts of some towns and villages in your part of the world, Margot, would have the same ‘atmosphere’ – which, as you’ve said, is more important than historical accuracy.
Indeed. I’m watching the series Rome, an oldie from HBO, and I’m getting screen shots when I find some interesting costumes and even locations that are in some ways similar to places we know. There’s an episode set in Egypt, where you can see one reed boat, ONE… and we have hundreds of those at the TitiKaka lake. So now we will have a scene with a boat like that. The lake is a lot bigger than the sea of Galilee and even bigger than the Red Sea… and the reeds at the lake beaches are very much like what you see in biblical settings, like where Moses was found or Cleopatra’s young competitor was drowned.

Image

I’m also looking for costumes, particularly for women and what I see on the big TV screen looks great and simple at the same time. Some costumes are easy to make, easier, a lot easier, than what Amy did for Maleficarum.

And it doesn’t look like finding the right materials will be too hard, in some cases, we might have them. We have tons of materials for costumes.

But for the Roman soldiers, centurion and all those characters that wear very particular costumes, we will have some difficulties. It will cost a lot more to make a Roman soldier uniform, sword and helmet included than what it costs to make a sexy dress, or a simple tunic.

Image

Later on we will be discussing the possible title change at Patreon.

Crucify Me!

Image

We posted a bit of the arguments about the possible change of title for the Female Christ movie at Patreon. It’s a discussion we might as well spread around a bit.

Here it goes.

There’s a movie by Pedro Almodovar that has a suggestive poster and title. The title of the film is Átame! which was translated as Tie Me Up Tie Me down.

Image

There is a scene in Martyr or The Death oF St Eulalia where Camille asks Tadeusz:

Camille: You want to put me on a cross?
Tadeusz: I didn’t mean that
Camille:
Why not? Crucify me!

Image

Like Martyr, or Atame!, a suggestive title works very well.

In the miniseries that Jac did with Carmen aka Camille in the early 90’s. Genevieve, the character Carmen plays, is sitting at a table smoking a cigarette and thinking. On the wall behind her there’s poster of the Spielberg’s movie Hook, above the title there’s a caption that reads What if Peter Pan Grew Up?

That’s the premise for that movie. The premise for Seditiosa is What if Jesus had been a woman?

We are playing for possible titles if we want to change the current one. Some people like Seditiosa, some people liked Yahel The Nazarene, it could also be Yahel A Nazarene, or we could go out there with something like Crucify Me! or Crucified or Yahel The Crucified.

None of the possible titles listed here are above Seditiosa, at least not for now. But it is possible that whatever title is chosen, the premise could go above or below the title, like in Justine.

Image

A dramatic title could be Yahel The Chosen One, or Yahel The Anointed.

One possible title would be simply YAHEL with the phrase under the title What If Christ Had Been A Woman?

Image

However, Jac had a frank conversation with Erix, who has no particular leaning to the subject of crucifixion and the like, he grew up a New Yorker with no religious teachings, and his likes and dislikes are not of the common denominator in these parts. They were discussing the pitch and Jac brought up the title.

In Erix opinion, Seditiosa is a more engaging title, Yahel does not mean anything to him. That’s his opinion.

Yahel has meaning to Jac and the meaning grows by the day, it doesn’t mean that it is appealing to the world at large and yet, he’s having what he calls a “moment” with Yahel.

Image

And that’s where the brain of our director is at this point in time and his rather distracted behavior is definitely freaking out the cats.

We must decide the title yesterday…
Jimbob: I don’t think you can go wrong with either!
sox: Agree with JB, they are all good! I think having the word ‘Crucified’ included one way or another is good from a commercial point of view. Also a bit ‘provocative’, but RF films is the company that ‘dares’….. 🙂 This title is too long but maybe something like ‘Yahel – The crucified female Christ’. As JB said, I think all of the above suggestions will work fine! ‘

As we get near to launch our IndieGoGo campaign, the title Seditiosa will remain as the official title. It doesn’t mean that we can’t change it later, like we did with Maleficarum and Sirwiñakuy, but for the purposes of the campaign, Seditiosa it is.

The movie is interesting, though, in spite of the title, there's very little bondage.

WHAT IF THE CHRIST HAD BEEN A WOMAN?

Image

And, what if we dare make a movie about that incredibly provocative concept?

Be part of this most daring independent film like no other.

We’re about to embark on a new cinematic adventure and we need your help.

https://igg.me/at/seditiosa/x/4977291#/

Synopsis:

Our new Project is titled Seditiosa.

Loosely based on the 2000-year-old story of the ultimate sacrifice on the cross, the story covers the last three days in Yahel’s life.

The story centers around three characters, Yahel, Judith and Magdalena.

Yahel is a healer, a prophet, a teacher, whose followers believe to be the anointed one because she comes straight from the House of David. She doesn’t believe that’s her mission. She sees herself as a healer, she helps people taking care of their ailments, she teaches what she knows to her followers and nothing beyond that.

Judith is the activist of the lot, she wants Yahel to claim her crown, she is sure her people will support her, and what’s more, will join her in her mission to lead them from bondage.

Magdalena, Judith’s sister, is the practical one. She believes that all that talk about claiming the crown and the messianic implications will bring their doom. She fears for both, her sister and Yahel because she knows that there are many who think that they should not even be doing what they do. She heard some people call Yahel a false prophetess and a whore, deserving of a public stoning or worse.https://player.vimeo.com/video/741927835?portrait=0

The people who consider Yahel and her followers as evil are not alone. Those in authority, particularly the religious leaders, want Yahel gone. They see her as a threat to their system and the empire.

It is within this atmosphere that Yahel and her followers venture into town and meet their fate.

https://vimeo.com/756992301

https://igg.me/at/seditiosa/x/4977291#/

The story of the chosen one suffering the cross has been brought to the screen a myriad of times before and in too many versions to count, so what’s different about our version?

Our version will have women in the leading roles of those marched to be crucified and it will be the most outrageous, demanding and sadistic adaptation of the 2,000-year-old story that has inspired books, films, religions, cults, holy wars…

Sure, you have all those different versions covering the story of the gospels. From Cecil B DeMille’s 1927 epic The King of Kings, all the way to hippie musicals like Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell, passing by reverential versions like Jesus of Nazareth, almost visceral interpretations like The Passion of The Christ, weirdly conceptualized renditions like The Last Temptation of Christ, even irreverent comedies like Life of Brian… and who can forget Passolini’s neorealist portrayal of The Gospel According To St. Mathew or the surreal and wacky Buñuel film La Via Lactea (The Milky Way) where Mary tells Jesus “You look much better with your beard” There are perhaps hundreds of films about the Chosen One, The Christ, including Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.

When I say, there’s never been a movie quite like Seditiosa, this is not hyperbole, it is a fact. There’s no movie like the one we are envisioning.

The Film is In Good Hands!

Image

The film will be in the expert and truly capable hands of Jac Avila the director of

Maleficarum, the definitive film about the Spanish Inquisition,
Martyr, the eloquent story of the famous Saint Eulalia who was crucified … twice,
Dead But Dreaming, the most exotic vampire story,
Justine, the definitive version of the De Sade’s story,
and many other fantastic, controversial and brutally honest films.

Image

Do we have a cast? Oh yes, we have an amazing cast.

Simonne De La Riva will be playing the lead role Yahel, whose followers believe should be a queen but becomes a sacrificial lamb instead.
Yahel won’t be alone in her trials, bloody tribulations and ultimate fate.
Daniela Borda will be to her right, as Judith, the aggressive troublemaker and instigator of everything that happens to them.
Mila Joya will be to her left, as Magdalena – reasonable and caring, willing to give her life for those she loves.

Image

Many of our experienced repertory players from previous films will be there to participate in and witness the punishments for these young ladies.

We also have a great crew, great equipment, but we could use some more.

We could go out and shoot this movie today.

But, alas, it is a period film, set in the times of the Roman Empire, so, we need costumes for a good number of people and all those props, particularly those nasty crosses.

We also need good sets, a great temple with all those decorations, great locations, and maybe a few horses.

WHY WE NEED YOU & WHAT YOU GET

To make this groundbreaking film possible we need to add 25,000 dollars to our Budget. These funds will be used to cover the expenses of the fantastic, ancient locations, the terrifying props, the authentic costumes we need for our terrific cast… and they are a crowd… And not to mention good make-up artists and their endless supplies to cover tattoos, to work on those whip marks and make all those 21st century people look like they are from some time BC. (Before Christ)

We also need to feed our large cast, transport them, pay location expenses and much more.

With your support we will be able to recreate the times of the Roman Empire; and bring about the story the way it must be told.

If you consider that production companies that recreate historic periods spend millions of dollars to accomplish the task, like Mel Gibson, who spent 25,000,000 to produce The Passion Of The Christ, those $ 25,000 we need to raise probably covered his limousine expenses.

We can truly use those $ 25,000 to perform miracles, just like the 5 pieces of bread and the fish that fed hundreds.

https://igg.me/at/seditiosa/x/4977291#/

We can do it!

We recreated different periods of time in past films. We went to colonial Peru for Maleficarum, we jumped from ancient Greece to ancient pre Inca time and without losing a beat to Colonial Alto Peru for Dead But Dreaming, we were in the middle of the French Revolution era for Le Marquis de la Croix and De Sade’s Justine, we were right in the middle of 18th century Spain for Olalla, and we recreated the 60’s in the rain forest of Bolivia for the NatGeo Docudrama Outbreak, The Curse of The Black Typhus.

We have the experience, the know-how, the talent and the vision to make this film happen. All We Need Is A Bit More Cash.

https://vimeo.com/757953559

Not only will you have the satisfaction of helping us produce a great and controversial film the way it should be made, but, depending on your contributions, you will receive great perks as well.

Depending on your level of support, we have some great perks listed in these pages. From getting credits in the film as an Associate Producer, to a nice mug with the portrait of your favorite character in the film. Maybe even a part in the movie!

What’s even more exciting is that if you contribute at the highest level, you can have a say in the content of some of the scenes!

We would love to reach our goal, but if we don’t, we will use every cent to cover the production expenses. And if we surpass our goal, the better for the production!

Check out our campaign in IndieGoGo and contribute if you can

You can also help us by tweeting and sharing the page, the more we get the Word out, the better chance we get to meet our goal.

When we say that this will be the ultimate, defiant, adaptation of the greatest story ever told we mean it.

With your support we can make it happen in tremendous style!

Celebrating!

Image

The week ended with celebrations and new beginnings. Jac’s brother organized a super party for his birthday with lots of guests, an amazing cake, designed by Erix, and thus a month of celebrations began.

Funny enough, it coincided with the launching of our IndieGoGo campaign for Seditiosa, the first ever major motion picture with a most provocative premise, What If The Christ Had Been A Woman?

And when I say this month marks a new beginning for all of us, I mean it.

Image

https://igg.me/at/seditiosa/x/4977291#/
joek0: Congrats Margot and team for the campaign finally starting!

Unlike Justine where I was an Associate producer level backer, I can not contribute much this time due to financial issues. I will however pre-buy the film. Is there a way to get a DVD and download copy as a perk. I don’t want to buy 2 separate perks to get it.
We would have to set that up, but I don’t know if that is something that will be used a lot. One suggestion is that you make a donation with the amount for both, the DVD and Download, adding a little for shipping and let us know so we can set you up in our records for both. Having said that, I will ask and find out if a new perk can be added with that particular request.

Image

With the work to launch the campaign out of the way, Jac can concentrate in the other pressing matters we have, like the scripts for Seditiosa, complete the pre production and work on the scheduling for 69 Année Érotique, go back to editing the films that are in post, like CruXtreme V, Crux Simplex, Agent Honey Trap, Deep Cover Mole… and more!

Image

The scheduling for 69 Année Érotique will be completed sometime next week, the date of production for that film will be set and we will know when we the cameras will start rolling in this most violently romantic new film where Dani, Mila, Simonne and Jac play multiple characters and they all have naughty games where there are chains and whips involved.

There are another couple of characters who will also suffer at the hands of Mr Hyde. One of them will be played by a newbie, Geraldine. Jac will have some camera tests with the potential new cast member during the coming week. She’s a beautiful woman, who Jac met some years ago while walking his dog. The first time he saw her, climbing on a motorcycle, he was impressed by her looks, she reminded him of Camille. Jac was sure she was French.

Image

All the up and coming activities will not distract us from the big picture, the work on Seditiosa. We’ll be updating the development of our campaign, pressuring our fans to contribute to the big cause. We are somewhat disappointed by the little interest in our Patreon page. We’ll see how it goes.

However, we appreciate the loyal support of our patrons, so, we uploaded a nice clip of Simonne during her first test for Monxa Mala. Our VIP patrons received a password to watch it.

There will be more video clips at Patreon in the future, including clips from the shooting of 69, the location, props and scene tests for Seditiosa, stuff from the past like an exclusive little video with Camille during her training, and much, much more.

Image

I mentioned a new beginning. Well, the intention is to return to the big production values movies and the steps taken now are setting the road for the future.

Come to our IndieGoGo Campaign and help us make Seditiosa possible!

Waiting To Be Crucified… Again

Image

Simonne is a very busy lady, she is a singer in a band, she is a model and she has a couple of other jobs, and yet, she’s committed to work in our films, she has a role that Dani described as Delicious in 69 Année Érotique, but most importantly, she will play the lead character of Yahel in Seditiosa. She is very excited about that possibility and more than intrigued.

She suffered the cross in Monxa Mala, crown of thorns and all, it was a hard, painful role to play and she remembers it well. She commented to Jac not long ago that she’s sure that Seditiosa will be a lot harder and more painful for all three crucified women. She’s right and she can’t wait. She deserves more enthusiasm, I think.

Image

We launched the campaign for Seditiosa and we’re up to 2% of our ambitious goal. We have to raise 25,000 by the end of the IndieGoGo Campaign, which is in exactly 57 days as of today, October 11. We plan to start shooting the film within a month of that date if we raised sufficient funds. Our estimated time for the release of the film is August 2023, less than a year from now.

If, by any freaking chance someone decides to be the Executive Producer and puts on the table the 25,000 right now, we would stop the presses and jump into the work for the production this week. If two people decide to be executive producers with 25,000 each and one of them wants to be put on a cross, then we would start this week too and hire two editors so they can start cutting the film while we shoot so we could have a rough cut of the film a week after we finished shooting it… and so on…

Image

However, we’re not foreseen any of those scenarios, so we will begin production after the campaign is over unless we have not reached past 10% of our goal. In which case we would have to go out in the world looking for cash hat in hand and hope for the best.

We are planning to release a couple of titles, CruXtreme V and Crux Simplex (For Two) between now and the end of the year and that will actually bring in some cash that we can use for the production as well.

Image

After launching the IndieGoGo campaign, we are back to basics, and in the case of Seditiosa, it means we’re back to the script.

We are discussing the story’s structure, which is crucial to the film. A good structure is necessary but, at the same time, it cannot be an inspiration squasher.

In the case of Seditiosa is not so much how it ends, we all know exactly what will happen and to whom and even why; but the story is how the protagonists get to where they are going, knowing full well that the ending is inevitable.

Jac was thinking of using part of a powerful scene from the ending to open the film. A few close-up shots of Yahel on the cross as she dies. But he wasn’t sure if he wanted to open Seditiosa that way, even though the scene he has in mind is amazing and symbolic in many ways.

That subject and it’s possible alternatives is now under discussion at our Patreon site with different suggestions.

Image

We are presently hanging there, holding our breath, as we wait to see what happens with our efforts to get the show going. Simonne, Dani and Mila are waiting to be crucified again… and again… and again…

Via Crucis of Seditiosa

Image

As of this moment we have reached 6% of our goal in our IndieGoGo campaign for Seditiosa, mostly from 6 registered backers. I cannot say that it is encouraging, but it’s not disappointing either unless it gets stuck there forever. What I can say is that we have enough cash to hire the make-up artist and buy the make-up supplies. Maybe there will be something left to feed some of the cast and crew for a couple of days and that is it.

It is very revealing to us the stats we get from IndieGoGo, they tell a sad story about the sources of where the backers are coming from. The stats also tell us that we have a couple of very strong supporters, to whom we feel we have a commitment to make this movie happen.

Image

While we wait holding our breath for some better news, The Foursome got together, not at the same time, for some discussions, fun and games and most importantly, to record something akin to a rehearsal for Seditiosa.

Jac wanted to try a bit of dialogue within a context.

Image

The idea was for each of our protagonists to pick up their patibulums and say something during the process of doing it. The bits of dialogue, taken from the script, are from a conversation the three have after their terrible scourging and before they are sent to their doom. The exchange takes place in the dungeon, but Jac wanted them to say their lines as they are getting ready to march to the cross.

The first to say her lines is Magdalena, played by our great leading lady Mila Joya. Her line says:

Magdalena: The Cross? Not for my sister and Yahel, haven’t they been punished enough? I alone killed the Roman, crucify me!

[mg]https://redfeline.com/chronicles/wp-con ... 021221.jpg[/img]

Magdalena walks off and Judith, played by none other than the long suffering Dani, walks in to get her patibulum, she responds to Magdalena’s plea.

Judith: [/b]Be quiet sister, they don’t care about that, they want us crucified to instill fear.

Image

After picking up her patibulum, Judith walks off frame as Yahel enters, she has suffered more than the others, she has more difficulty walking in, but with great resolve says her words of solidarity:

Yahel: You won’t be alone in your suffering, we will be with you and you will be with us.

Image

And off Yahel goes to join the others on the long Via Crucis to the skull hill to be crucified.

The intention of the rehearsal was to put the actresses in touch with their characters within some context. I think it came out very interesting.

Mila and Dani shot their parts Thursday afternoon, Simonne did it that evening.

Simonne had less clothes on because she first worked on a scene for 69 Année Érotique that involved her being suspended from the ceiling to be whipped mercilessly.

Image

Jac decided to do some more intense work with Simonne because he wanted for her to get into the work with ease. She hasn’t work with Jac since Monxa Mala, a while ago and under different circumstances, unlike Dani and Mila who made a good number of movies after that bloody film where 6 women suffer torture and four of them end up crucified.

Simonne walked into the set ready to go through whatever Jac had in mind for her. In 69 Année Érotique, her character, Mina, suffers a bit at the hands of Mr Hyde. In the rehearsal she was put through one scripted scene where she’s stripped and whipped and in a possible scene where she’s suspended from the ceiling and whipped more.

Image

The rehearsals that Thursday afternoon had another purpose. Not long before, Jac set up hooks and chains up in the ceiling, where before there was a post used in all those films where Dani, Mila, Simonne, Bea, Katherine were whipped and crucified … a lot.

The old dungeon went back to be Jac’s and the cats bedroom and to be used as one of the sets for 69 Année Érotique. It is now Dr Jekyll’s bedroom, and where Mr Hyde does his shenanigans.

Jac wanted to try his arrangements to see if those hooks and chains would hold the three women who are going to be suspended and whipped at that spot in that movie and maybe many others.

Image

So, Dani and Mila were suspended and Jac’s set up worked.

When Simonne climbed on the stool to get her wrists attached to the hanging chains, Jac was confident that she would be safe and her body would not fall to the ground after he removed the stool.

Simonne was uncomfortable, in pain, in distress, her arms were killing her, but she was safe.

Image

Jac also worked with a new actress, Geraldine, who is going to play a small role in 69 Année Érotique where she’s stripped. It was the very first time for her to work in front of a camera and to be stripped while doing it. She was great. She might have a good role in Seditiosa as well but that’s part of another story for later.

We really hope things will get better in our campaign to raise funds for Seditiosa. We want the movie to be fantastic and we want and need for others to be part of it.

Struggling Up The Hill

Image

We went up 1% yesterday, October 15, so we are at 7% of our goal. It means that in the next 52 days we have to climb 0.5555% every day. That’s $442 per day. Doable? I don’t think so.

If we get to 10% before the end of next week it will be a nice surprise, but the way people are responding, it will take a miracle worthy of St Paul seeing the light on the road to Damascus. In other words, unless something grandiose shakes the undecided… I don’t see it happening. Sad, indeed.

Jac is concentrating on 69 Année Érotique, a film that only requires a few beautiful ladies having some fun wearing their own clothes, taking them off and fixing their hair in different ways.

He promised his cast and crew that he will have the scheduling for the film by the middle of next week and so he will not have meetings, nor will he whip his actresses, or edit films… nothing but the scheduling for the new movie until he’s done.

Image

I don’t think I’ll have news about Seditiosa except if something interesting happens with our campaign, but our supporters will get good or bad news and updates on the progress of the work at Patreon and our website.

The general feeling at HQ, right now, is to accept the obvious, that we will not have patrons at Patreon except for those wonderful 5. We must also accept that there’s little interest, except for the extremely few, in the forums where I post lengthy updates with huge pictures of beautiful ladies in all sorts of distress, even at the GIMP Forum, the one we are actually financing and keeping alive. Que será, será.

I feel like limiting my efforts in those places and put more of my and our time into our work and websites, including Patreon.

Image

Someone at Patreon commented after watching the little rehearsal video we uploaded.
wanttoknowmore: Also, I hope the actual crossbeam will be a bit more substantial. I doubt a true Roman one would be a simple small log.
We responded:

The cross beams will be built according to the design of the crosses, that’s part of the needed funds. The logs we’re using in the teaser and previous films are left overs from different productions like Le Marquis De La Croix, Justine, and other films. They are relics and maybe we will set them up in a museum dedicated to our films with all the props we accumulated through the years.

When we begin the process of making the costumes and building the props we will show pictures of the progress like we did in Maleficarum and Justine. We built a nice cross for Olalla, and it is now part of the Chapel where we filmed that nice film. It is part of the yearly celebrations at that location. We will talk more about this in future posts.

Image

We’re very grateful for the enthusiasm and support of those extremely few who are supporting the project. We are committed to the make a great and unique film and we would like for more people to get involved, and for what is worth, we’ll keep on asking but without the nice elaborate posts I tend to share everywhere.

If 1000 people pre-buy the DVD for 30 bucks or the download for 25… we have the funds! If one person puts 25,000 on the table… we have the funds! It’s that easy.
