Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
Re: Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
Sixth Inquisition scene from Inquisitor's line drawings. Should I do a close-up render to go with the full-view image?
Re: Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
Yes, Close up of branded breasts and torso would be great. Will Burner

Re: Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
Use indirect lighting b, so the skin would reflect some light in the proximity of the hot iron. Greatly increase the realism, trust me on this.

Re: Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
I'm always interested in improving my renders, but I'm not sure what you mean by this suggestion, JD. Are you referring to the light emitted by the hot iron? If so, how do you make it indirect? I use a Daz module I purchased for hot metal, and it works by turning the hot iron into an emitter, so I don't see how it could become indirect light.
I've got the feeling this suggestion would work great in Poser, which you know best, but I'm confused about how to do it in Daz. Remember, Iray needs the objects to be lighted in order to work. My scene is actually lit by a three-point light directed at the victim (and sometimes the other characters) as well as an ambient outdoor light from an HDRI (I leave the ceiling of my building turned off most times so the "Sun" shines down on the scene). Using an outdoor "Sun" saves a lot of tweaking with the ambient light.
Thanks for the suggestion! Don't be afraid to make any that you think of, even if you have to "educate" this hobbyist!

download/file.php?id=27765&mode=view, great job, thanks!
Re: Misc. Inquisition Scenes.
Alas, that's true. For Poser users it's a straight job, there's a INDIRECT LIGHT setting in the render setting panels, for both renderers, Cycles or older Firefly. Once you make an object as light emitting using MATERIALS section, that setting will allow to render the glowing of a skin when a hot iron is closer, for example. A bit extra time on the rendering because you added a source of light to the composition.
Sounds like a good setting!bleumune wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:56 pm My scene is actually lit by a three-point light directed at the victim (and sometimes the other characters) as well as an ambient outdoor light from an HDRI (I leave the ceiling of my building turned off most times so the "Sun" shines down on the scene). Yeah, I'm split between keeping my mouth shut and saying stuff like that cuz I'm aware I can't provide direct advice. But then, I reason that it must be a similar function in DAZ, I can point you in a good direction, at least knowing that's possible.
I put a neon tube close to a figure in the dark. The indirect light function in Poser is not perfect, one can't set up the attenuation, like one can do with a regular light (infinite light, liniar attenuation or quadratic). Maybe in DAZ they made it better.
