Video Enhance AI

Post by williej »

I have recently purchased a program by Topaz Labs which improves the quality of poor/low resolution video using AI supported processes. Not cheap at US$300 but I'm getting some good results, I must say.

There are several improvement processes from which to choose within the app, depending on the format and quality of the original footage. There is also a slow motion program in the app with which I am particularly pleased and which I have used post clean up. Especially good, in my case, for breast whipping clips :D .
I'd love to post some examples but even short clips are way to big to post here.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.

That is a very interesting development. I personally have a lot of videos of rather poor quality that I would love to see improved (Hidden Pleasures videos come to mid). $300 doesn't sound that bad to me, and could you supply a link to the source for it?
Great post & thanks for the info.

That's the very one. Thanks Spiked.

Bought it! A fairly steep learning curve, but worth it. Improves--not like original though--older videos. It is expensive at US$300, Try out the free trial version first.

So far, for older videos, I have achieved some of the best results with the Proteus-6 Parameter option. But there is a bit of trial and error involved.

I've experimented with this program a little. It can do a pretty good job on some videos, but don't expect miracles. For really old/low quality input, the videos that it produces are arguably worse than the original.

I gave up after a few tries. Mostly because it took a week for my PC grinding at 100% CPU to finish even a fairly short video.

But it is fun to play with.

These programs aren't bad ... except for faces.
They can guess about the rest (or we don't care if it's different from original), but we spot a badly rendered face easily.

And, yes, they require a powerful CPU and a lot of time.

gowron: Good point about the processing demand on one's computer. I have a fairly recent iMac. Processing a 640x320 video hogs all six cores of the Intel CPU & can take "forever" if the video is 6-8 minutes long.
