I'm reminded that some early sources of GIMP inspiration for me were jungle movies. They usually featured a damsel-in-distress, sometimes even tied up. But there's one in particular that stands out in my mind, although the name of it escapes me.

I and my equally pubescent buddy were watching the local station's Saturday "safari" movie when we got a pleasant surprise. Seems this tribe of natives was ruled by a queen - an ebony goddess, in fact, whose spectacularly-constructed figure was crammed into a very skimpy one-piece outfit.

Somehow she pissed off her subjects, who rebelled against her and started chasing her through the jungle. At some point she became stuck underneath a fallen tree, and as she squirmed to get free her costume could barely contain its jiggling bounty. All the while her enraged tribesmen were closing in on her, elevating her plight. My buddy and I looked at each other knowingly, realizing that we had witnessed a treat rarely found in kids' programming.

Maybe that's why to this day I still like those women in jungle prison camp movies.

Now that were back, I have been hankering to tell you all about a neat little program I want to recommend. You all may want to check out this program, DVDZip. It's a DVD ripping program that is unlike any other DVD ripping software out there. DVDZip can convert DVDs into any of a number of popular formats and for any of a number of popular devices just like most ripping software packages out there. The difference between DVDzip and other programs and also what gives it an advantage over them is the fact that DVDZip can even rip encripted DVDs!

Don't ask me how it manages to decript the disks and convert the contents, that I have no clue about. I am just glad that it can, and you may also be too.

And finally, the first GIMP related item I ever cut out and saved (I think I was in the second grade) was a Sunday newspaper strip from Stan Drake's "Secret Heart of Juliet Jones". My Mom threw it out, of course. Ralphus has scans of two panels, but I'm still looking for the entire sequence--don't even know the exact date yet.

Poll question - so my parents take me to a drive-in movie theater circa 1958 - the era of so many B-grade mad scientist flicks - on this night we view that epic blockbuster "The Man Who Turned to Stone" starring Victor Jory of all people - in it numerous nubile young things are carried with quite a bit of struggling to the secret lab where they are bound and gagged, lowered into a chemical bath and are drained of their "bio-electric energy" to prolong the lives of the mad scientists - I was yelling in the back seat "yeah, do another one" - needless to say my mother was more than a tad concerned while dad couldn't care less - at that moment I'm sure that even if I didn't, the parents knew there was something odd about the little one - fortunately when I became stiffy capable a few years later and discovered dad's stash of MAM's in the closet, I knew the fruit didn't fall far from the tree.

The gimmick on Plastic Man as I recall, was that no matter what shape he took, a Palm tree, an urn, a boat etc... his bright yellow belt was always present. Not much of a super power I guess but what the hey?.

At any rate, the ad featured a shot of the cover which showed Plastic Man trying to form a ladder out of his body to save a pretty woman stuck in the window of a burning building. Someone from another vantage point, the roof or a nearby helicopter, was shooting at him as he tried to rescue her.

I still remember staring at that cover in the ad. Her outstretched arms as she tried to reach for the ladder, the look of fear in her face as she realized Plastic Man might be stopped by the villains and of course, her prominent breasts heaving forward all added up to give me a tingle I had never experienced before. I just couldn't take my eyes off of it!

I remember going down to the local stores in my neighborhood trying to locate that particular issue of Plastic Man, a comic I never normally read, but never did find it. All I have now are my memories of it. But yeah, that was the moment I realized I had a thing for damsels in distress which only grew stronger as I got older and hit puberty (or puberty hit me). I’d love to see that cover again to see how well my memory of it fits with reality….

As for the BATS scene, I liked it, but I hate mercy bags. Anything designed to shorten the victim's suffering is a bad thing in my book. I mean, how long was the burning scene, maybe 30 seconds or so before she went up? Way, way too short. A real burning at the stake takes a while. Check out this YouTube scene from the Discovery show "Machines of Malice" where the crew simulate a real burning at the stake. It takes a while for her to finally catch fire. And if you continue it onto the next clip, they also hang the next victim over a blazing fire and see how long it takes before she goes up. Pretty stimulating stuff, even if it is just a dummy.

In order to see more than thumbnails on Dark Spot you have to either make 4 - 5 comments in support of the artists or just plain send them money for costs. It is a nice site and does have some good artists. They say all original artwork but they just don't want complete picture series. They do have some paysites that use it for promoting their sites and for the most part they are OK with you using their stuff since it does promote them. They also have a few @ss holes that bitch and howler if they see some of the paysite stuff. One person gives the old support the artist and support the site no free stuff but if he posts it that is no problem. He than trolls the Google and Yahoo groups to complain if he sees it.

I do remember the girl reaching out to him with the flames behind her and some villain trying to plug him with a firearm so that was all pretty much right in my mind (not that much else is!) It says 1967 so when I saw it it must have already been out for few years. I was a toddler in '67 and I know I was older than that when it made me go "Wow, that's hot!"

While we're on the subject of images or scenes that got us started in our love of DiD there was another image also of a comic type mag that I remember from about that same era of my life. I don’t expect anyone to try and dig it up (And many thanks to Covers for….uhm, “uncovering” that image and for Ralphus for reposting it so I could see it again. That was above and beyond guys!!!).

We had one of those corner markets in my neighborhood when I was growing up in the San Fernando Valley. It was one of those small, family owned places that are mostly non-existent nowadays. They had one of those metal, round turn-style type of comic racks up by the register near the front door, the type that always squeaked terribly when you spun it even when it was new. Anyway, I remember when I was a tad older, maybe 11 or 12 being with my mother at this store and glancing over at the comic rack while she was paying for groceries.

One of the comics or magazines on the rack was a jungle adventure type of comic, I always remembered it being Tarzan but that doesn’t mean it actually was. To my young mind any white man running around in the jungle in a loin cloth was Tarzan even if was really some cheap knock-off imitator. At any rate, the cover depicted Tarzan (?) running along side a Jane type of character wearing your typical jungle woman animal hyde bikini and in the background were a group of angry natives chasing them. Nothing too unusual about the scene except that Tarzan, or whoever it was supposed to be, was reaching over and pulling out the bottom of the female characters loin cloth and peeking in!

I know that sounds impossible, especially for a comic book but I clearly remember staring at the cover and saying to myself, “I can’t be seeing what I think I’m seeing, he’s actually pulling off or looking down her clothes!” I remember staring and staring at the cover wondering what that image was doing in a child’s comic rack. I remember going back to that store a short time later with my mother or another adult and trying to find that magazine again and having no luck, it was long gone.Even then I couldn't believe what i was seeing and wanted to verify it by having another look-see but alas, I never saw it again. Still, I'm sure of what I'm describing is what was being depicted on the cover.

I’ve often thought of that image down thru the years and I have to believe now that it was some sort of Men’s Magazine or foreign comic that got moved or placed in the comic rack by accident, a book with that on the cover was clearly never intended for little kids. I know Mexican comic magazines can be quite racy and it wouldn’t be impossible for one to get accidentally stuck in a comic’s rack where it might subvert some young impressionable adolescents mind. Which is exactly the effect it had on me!

Like I said, I don’t expect anyone to spend anytime trying to dig up that image especially considering it could have been any of a 1000 different magazine covers and I have so little to go on other than my spotty memory. But anyway, that’s another image I remember seeing at young age that let me know I had kink for the kinky especially if it involved a woman in distress….

I'm pretty familiar with the Lampoon covers from the '70s and I don't recall anything like that.

And, yes, it would have been a major improvement to see Princess Leia strapped to that torture device in "The Empire Strikes Back" - preferably naked. It would have been a major kick to watch the next scene with Darth Vader and Boba Fett talking outside the torture chamber while her screams can be heard in the background. I also remember numerous fantasies I had concerning Leia´s captivity at Jabba´s palace in "Return of the Jedi".

Hmm, I just googled Five Savage Men and it sounds interesting. I also checked for it at Netflix and it's available for streaming. I think I should take a closer look at it.

This was more of a painted cover like the mainstream Gold Key comics had such as Turok Son of Stone, that sort of thing. That's what makes me believe it may have been a foreign or Mexican comic that got accidentally racked with the regular comics.

But hey, who knows? That's just the way I remember it...

I'm not familiar with Five Savage Men but it sounds like my kind of movie. One reviewer on Amazon says the movie has no redeeming qualities. That's usually a good sign, in my books.

Five Savage Men (1970)
Gang rape. The five savage men of the title are Keenan Wynn and his band of cutthroats who rob a stagecoach and murder everyone but the pretty schoolteacher, Alice (Michele Carey), taking her captive. After she tries to escape, the men strip her and tie her staked out on the ground. She is then raped by each of the 5 men, but it's very non-explicit, even by 1970s standards. The only thing shown during the rapes are the faces of the attackers and the victim, with no nudity during the rapes. The best part is afterward, where we get a few nice shots of her clearly nude and spreadeagled on the ground between stakes to which she's tied with remnants of her clothing. After the men leave her staked out to die, an Apache discovers her and, with his priorities clearly out of whack, decides to rescue her instead of helping himself. Stupid Indian.

Makiriko/Battler Sienne Matra, this film is part of a move to go mainstream. For those of you not familiar Zen pictures, it is a sister company to Giga. For the most part like Giga their movies feature a super heroine or fighting girl who is overcome by a superior fighter of some type who then restrains her and tortures her. With Giga the movies tend to have sex, and like all Jap AV flicks are censored. With Zen the flicks tend to have scantily clad women but rarely exceed PG 13 limits. The good news is Zen does some 15+ flicks and this is one of them. In this package when you order it from Amazon it comes with an additional movie. Unfortunately it's not worth your time.

Now on to the flick. This movies stars Mari Sakura, a petite little ball of hotness, and the villain (for a change) Asami Saguri isn't so bad herself. Anyway the movie starts out with the two girls training together. Mari is dressed in a bikini top with an unzipped running suit top. They are both training for the same teacher. Asami evidently loses favor with the teacher and makes a deal with an alien type monster for revenge. This is where the movie gets interesting.

The first scene of importance has Mari going into a warehouse to find her teacher tied up, She then takes quite a beat down from Asami. While it's not a great fight scene her reactions are excellent. She takes several blows to the face and midsection and is finally knocked out. During this scene she is clothed in a running suit with a bikini top under a light running top. I'll give it a B+

The next scene Mari is suspended clothed in her black bra with running pants in a cross type position. She takes several blows to the midsection followed by electric shocks. She then somehow escapes, but is subdued again by Asami. I'll give it an A; she is quite hot, looks like she's really taking some punishment, and ends up laying on the floor of a cell in just a bikini.

In the last scene before the thrilling conclusion, Mari is grabbed by some of the alien's henchman. Asami tries to stop him but is quickly subdued (she is evidently having second thoughts about the torture of her training partner). Then Mari is held up by two of the alien's henchman while the alien arms become swords. He then begins a vicious slashing of Mari, with fake whip marks (the effects are much more like a whipping). The cuts slash away her top revealing her ample tits, at the end of the beating she collapses to the floor. I'll give it an A

As far as the movie itself, overall I'll give it an A-, not bad for Jap porn you can buy from Amazon. The only drawback is it has no sex, but it does have a hot little thing who is a victim of merciless peril with mainstream production values.

Well, it's time to review another Giga flick. I find Giga to be the most consistent GIMP producer out of Japan. Unlike Attackers where many of the sex scenes can appear consensual, and in some cases the "raped" girl isn't even held down, subdued, or restrained, in Giga flicks a rape is a rape. Most Giga movies have better then average production values. The real rub with Giga flicks is that they are hard to get. Giga does downloads to the US but does not support MAC. Their downloads are $50, but their DVD's go for $90, a bit steep.

TBB-50 is part of Giga's "heroine suppression" series, in which a young heroine defeats her foes, but is later captured, subdued, and usually tortured. Not all of them include rape although most of the later ones do. This one stars Azumi Mizishima who may be one of the finest young ladies ever to grace Japanese celluloid. She stands about 5'5", is slim but not thin, has ample fake tits, jet black hair, and the kind of pouty lips you just can't say no to. I wish I had the net skills to show a photo of her as that would be all that's needed in the review (ha, ha).

Anyway, like most Giga flicks, it starts out with Azumi in street clothes taking on a group of black clad ninjas. While she takes a few blows, she easily wins the day. The scene does include a flashback with her earlier being captured and beaten on the leg, a leg that proves to be her weak spot in later fights. She then transforms in her heroine suit complete with helmet.Then the monster appears and fights her; for a while she carries the day but soon he turns the tables and she is knocked out. As far as the "subduing" scene it's a good one but not one of Giga's best, a B- is the best I can give it and a lesser star would have knocked the grade down.

The next scene she wakes up uniform clad in a tube. A gas is let in the tube and it knocks her out. She wakes up without her helmet on the floor in front of her enemies. Thank god they lost the helmet fast. Giga has a bad habit of leaving helmets on so you can't see the victims reactions. In this case that's kept to a minimum. She is then picked up by two of the Ninjas while the other ones administer a beating with blows to the face and midsection. She takes the stomach punches like someone who can act, and she is SO HOT. I'll give it an A.

She is then taken to a chair device with hands that holds her down and molests her. She is molested (the typical JapAV orgasm scene) to the point where she is writhing in the chair and screaming. Her reactions remind me of Ayumi Kase ( a Jap AV actress who can act). There is nothing consensual about this scene. During the scene the device's hands burn her uniform off at the tits and crotch. Her tits look like they've been beaten, and she is in obvious pain. She finally passes out after much protest. Definitely an A+

She then has ice water thrown on her to wake her up (a great touch). Then the alien rips the rest of her clothes off. She is shown on some kind of a big screen (this is supposed to be humiliation). The captured heroine is stripped, beaten and restrained. She then receives electric shocks several times. Her reactions are excellent until she passes out again. Then the alien grabs her, reverses her position and rapes her. She protests and moans until it's over. This is another excellent scene; she provides less resistance, because she is obviously spent from her earlier treatment. Another A+ effort.

All in all I'm going to give it an A+, it has it all. A hot chick, lots of action, torture, beatings (non bloody), rape, and humiliation and it's all believable. This is a great GIMP flick!

Hey elkcreek, you keep saying that Giga doesn't support Mac. I am curious, what aspect of the Mac OS does Giga not support? I don't know which aspect of it you are referring to since I use a PC running Windows XP. Is it the OS itself that they won't support meaning that you can't download anything of theirs on a Mac? Or is it the media format itself, you are unable to play the video files due to them being Windows Media files?

If it's the media format, I may be able to help you out. You may want to look into AVS Video Converter, available at AVS Media's website. AVS Video Converter can convert video files from one format to any of a number of other formats, including Quicktime Media Player's MOV format.

I suspect Azumi Mizishima will never know about your Giga review. If she were to find out about it, though (and it were to be translated into Japanese), she would definitely be flattered to have her acting talents compared with Ayumu Kase's.

A while back I was feeling peckish for some cross-hanging, so I shot over to the Red Feline store (at the speed of light, no less) to catch some more of Jane von Detlefson’s artistry. This one looked interesting because of the stark, outdoor setting and the sight of Jane getting dragged across the ground while attached to a patibulum (that’s the horizontal piece of the cross).

The movie opens with Jane - clad in a very fetching, one-piece semi-transparent olive-colored robe that reveals her arms, shoulders and lower legs – making her way across a rocky desert, apparently gathering something edible from the sparse vegetation. She stops to rest in the shade of a large boulder and drifts off.

Along comes JJ the Barbarian, who quickly subdues her and ties her wrists behind her back with rope. He then drives her ahead of him, flicking her back with the rope as they move forward across the desert. It doesn’t take long for Jane’s robe to slip from its moorings and she’s soon topless.

The first torment comes when JJ hangs Jane by her wrists from the limb of a large, gnarly tree. He has pulled the hem of her dress up and wrapped it around her hips, so she’s essentially topless and bottomless. She’s suspended off the ground while he lashes her with a long whip. She kicks her legs a lot, which exposes her pussy and butt even more. Eventually, Jane becomes tired (and somewhat bloodied, though not excessively so). JJ leaves the scene, ushering in a long period of “unconsciousness as foreplay” while the camera focuses on Jane twisting slowly in the wind.

JJ returns to lift Jane off the limb and force her to walk to another spot where some short upright posts have been driven into the ground. JJ ties Jane’s wrists to one post and her ankles to another one, stretching her out on the rough surface of the ground. (There’s a brief shot of some busy ants, but no scenario develops around them). JJ produces some spikes which he runs along Jane’s body. Then he brings along a large tree limb to serve as a patibulum. He ties Jane’s wrists to the wood and nails her hands to it, eliciting some of Jane’s trademark gasps and whimpers.

Off they trek to another distant tree, while the barefoot Jane picks her way across the unforgiving ground. JJ attaches Jane’s patibulum to the tree, then lifts and ropes her ankles, first one, then another, underneath her. Now Jane is essentially sitting on her heels, her knees bent all the way and stretched out in front of her. Her dilemma is that she’s off the ground and having trouble supporting her own weight.

For the remaining fifteen minutes of the movie, we watch Jane slowly “die”. This is a very realistic depiction of execution by crucifixion, one of the purposes of which is to make it extremely difficult for the victim to catch an adequate breath of air. Jane gradually tires of the effort and basically suffocates. The camera shows Jane’s ordeal from different angles, including some nice close-ups. Jane does spew some blood before she finally croaks, but fortunately this flick spares us from the excessive gore of some of Red Feline’s other products.

Movie plusses: Jane appears to have pushed herself to the limit more in this film than in others I’ve seen so far. She had to deal with very real, very physical challenges, including hot sun, rocky soil against her bare flesh, a long period of AOH suspension above the ground, and finally what looks like an extremely uncomfortable positioning of her body. And is there anyone who dies as beautifully as Jane?

Movie minuses: Well, by now we know what to expect in a Red Feline flick. Jane offers little struggle or resistance against the villain, the villain is non-vocal and very mechanical, and there are long periods of watching “nothing happening” on the screen. (I know, I know...I just don’t “get it”). It’s also hard to convincingly fake driving a spike into someone’s hand. I was glad that more attention was focused on Jane’s reactions, which were superb, as usual.

This RF production seems closer to real suffering than fantasy (unless Jane and JJ have just become very good at faking it). I liked most of what I saw so my grade is B+.

The Dark Spot has a good idea. You either post feedback or you don't get to see the good stuff. People contribute there, whether they want to or because they feel they have to. It really doesn't matter why, the important thing is they do attempt to add to the site. I don't know how many times I've heard from such and so saying that the reason they don't post is because no one replies when they do. I totally understand that. You think it doesn't matter, and pretty soon we're all apathetic and no one is saying much of anything, except for the ever-thinning group of regulars. We've got some really good posters who haven't been heard from for a number of weeks, or in some cases, months. I'm not naming names, but you know who you are.

I can't change the general apathetic nature of the Internet. It's like a radio talk show, most people listen, very few contribute. We're certainly not unique from other boards. But I have to say guys, you disappoint me.

YikYakker: Let me be the first (and hopefully not the only one) to thank you for the Red Feline review. This one kind of flew off my radar, possibly because of the odd title. What is that, Latin? I checked out the trailer on Red Feline's site. Looks like more of the same from Red Feline, which is a combination of good and not so good. The good is obviously the beauty and acting chops of Jane von Detlefson, an actress who gives her all in every scene. The not so good is another lack of a strong villain. It's getting to the place where I get bored very quickly if the villain is silent and mechanical in dishing out punishment. What happened to the joy in performance? You might as well have a robot doing it if the guy isn't going to at least act like he's enjoying it.

I'm sure if Jane were here, she would thank you for the review. However, the last I heard from her, she's been super-busy in Bolivia premiering her new mainstream film that she's producing (she and JJ have whole other separate creative lives when they're not working for Red Feline). I'm sure she'll be back and read it eventually.

Elkcreek: Thanks so much for taking the time to review the two Japanese films. While I'm not so much into super heroines or fantasy plots, both those films sound like worthwhile finds. Seeing how Attackers have been largely disappointing lately, I'm ready to look elsewhere for my Japanese fix.

When I was about 11 years old, the movie "Conan, the Barbarian" came out. Naturally, I wasn't allowed to see it because of age restriction. But it ignited my interest in the Sword and Sorcery genre. I started with the "Conan“ comic book. From there I went to the stories by Robert E. Howard. Aside from being highly entertaining yarns in their own right, I was quite taken by the numerous scenes of beautiful girls being captured, whipped and sometimes tortured. The next step were the "Conan“-novels by fantasy-writer Robert Jordan. And they were bursting with sex and sadism. Those novels shaped my comfortable fantasy-world where beautiful women were either arrogant, haughty princesses, half-naked tavern-wenches or brazen street-whores. Or, in some cases, brave warrior-women, because "Red Sonja“ was soon thrown into that mix, too. But they all had one thing in common. All of them were potential victims of cruel acts of rape and torture.

Living in liberal Denmark at the time, I was able to venture into the adult sections of bookstores selling used books. There I occasionally found those "Bizarre Books“ from Star Distributors illustrated by Demulloto. I loved those drawings, especially those indicating that the torture seemingly took place in a fantasy-world-setting. I was really taken by the twisted imagination and those fiendish torture devices and incorporated them into my own barbarian fantasy world.

One of the cornerstones, that made these fantasies all the more entertaining, was the fact that this world was governed by kings and queens; absolute rulers over their subject. Some may be benevolent. But what if they were evil? What if they were sadists and used their power to make other people suffer? Especially beautiful girls? It was (and still is) fascinating and exciting to imagine a beautiful naked girl being chained up in a cruel king's dungeon and being tortured solely for the tyrant's twisted amusement. Such an ordeal could not possibly be any more hopeless for the victim. No attorney, no human rights activist, no Amnesty International around to help her out. Just torture upon torture by royal decree. It was especially gratifying to imagine a warrior-woman like Red Sonja going through those ordeals due to the fact that her being raped and tortured was "justified punishment“ for taking up the sword and defying the natural supremacy of men in this world.

Naturally, I sought out all the barbarian movies I could find, going for the Italian Conan-ripoffs, first. Almost all of those old VHS-covers showed scantily clad barbarian babes, many of them topless. And some of them did indeed feature a nice rape-, whipping- or torture-scene. The magical moment came at the age of 14. I went to my local video-store with the intention to find yet another barbarian movie. I distinctly remember even fantasizing about finding a barbarian movie with Sybil Danning as a warrior woman being captured by the villains and being tortured. In my mind I saw Sybil Danning tied spread-eagled to a cross and some evil guy lightly drawing a knife over the skin of her breasts, drawing small trickles of blood. No such movie exists, mind you. But I wanted to find such a flick. And there I spotted "Barbarian Queen“. A nice Boris Vajello cover showing scantily clad warrior woman and the tagline "No man can touch her naked steel!“. Hmmm. Might be a good one. There was no mention of a torture-scene but I rented it, of course.

Back at my parents home (they were gone for a week, thankfully) I made myself comfortable and started to watch the movie. Even before the main titles appear, a village girl gets raped. Right at the start. As the main titles went over the screen, I could see that this was going to be a B-movie with low production values. But the rape got me excited and I suspected that this flick could reveal itself to be a sleaze-ride. As the story goes a peaceful village is raided by the army of Lord Arrakur. The beautiful "Barbarian Queen“ Amethea shows her fighting prowess during the massacre. Her disdain of rapists becomes all too clear, as she castrates one of the enemies about to rape another village girl in the heat of battle.

She and two other women escape the massacre. The remaining survivors of their tribe are taken captive, their fate obviously being slavery. Amethea and the other two women decide bravely or foolishly to follow their enemies and free their tribe. They stealthily approach an outpost of the enemy where another captured village girl is tied to a wooden fence. Her arms are spread out to her sides and she is only clad in tattered clothes. There are long dark wounds on her naked breasts. They could either be deep wounds caused by a bull-whip or burns. Either way, she was evidently tortured. A soldier is approaching her intend on raping her. As he brutally kisses her, Amethea appears and with cold hatred in her eyes, she kills him. A fierce battle follows, in which all the soldiers of the outpost are killed.

Another village-girl is found, the very same girl who was raped right at the beginning. She is Amethea's sister, to boot. Dim-witted by nature and completely traumatized by recent events. Amethea insists on their quest, stating that "I'll be no man's slave and no man's whore! And if I can't kill them all, by the Gods they'll know I've tried!“ Seeing her in action, killing and castrating her enemies, the sadist in me really began to hope for her to be captured and "taken down“ by torture at this point.

The four women resume their quest and team up with a band of rebels, who help them sneak into Lord Arrakur's city. And that's where they all get caught. While one of them ends up as a harem girl for the gladiators` brothel, Amethea's sister is "honored“ by becoming Lord Arrakur's newest sex-slave. Amethea and the fourth warrior-women are taken to the dungeons. The interrogation starts with the fourth woman, who is tied to a wooden post. She remains clothed. Some nice dialogue spices up the atmosphere. Arrakur: "You know, pain is a wonderful thing. It will let us know if something's wrong. And it will let us know when we should tell what we know!“ Arrakur leaves the interrogation to the captain of the guards, who circles a torch over the woman's breasts.

Cut to Arrakur entering Amethea's cell. She disdainfully defies his order to unclothe. Arrakur: “You will find out...eventually...that it is much less painful to do things my way!“ When still she refuses he attempts to rape her which earns him a fierce bite on the cheek. Amethea: "There are some people in this world who will never be your slaves!“ Arrakur, smarting from her bite: "Before I am through with you, you will beg to kiss my feet!“ And to the guards, as he furiously leaves the cell: "You know where to take her!“

Cut to the woman being interrogated by the captain of the guards, who says: "I am not here to torture you. We have a man who does that. And I am trying to keep you from having to meet him.“ That raises some expectations, as one has to assume that Amethea is now being taken to that man who does the torturing. The woman manages to free herself, though. Yet she is killed while trying to escape. Several scenes of plotting and counter-plotting ensue, during which the viewer anxiously awaits for Amethea to reappear. When she does it was a jaw-dropping moment for me.

How effective the torture-scene truly is must be judged by the individual. It is somewhat ambivalent. I presume that it was written tongue-in-cheek, something like a parody mocking the homo-erotic torture-scenes in the Italian peplum-movies in the sixties. But during filming and in post-production it was seemingly decided upon to make it a bit more sinister.

First thing we see are two naked breasts in close-up. A metal glove is hanging from a chain over them. The glove ends in a sharp, needle-like point on the forefinger. Cut to a pair of eyes behind strange glasses, apparently watching naked breasts. The needle pokes into one nipple and the woman yanks back her chest while crying out in pain. Cut to the eyes widening. Another poke of the needle into the nipple and another yell of pain. Then the camera zooms out and shows Amethea bound to a strange torture device. It resembles and upright table on which she is tied with her legs spread wide and her arms tied above her head. She is naked except from an anachronistic, but sexy black thong.

Now, bondage-enthusiasts will cry out in indignation and they are right. Amethea is not really tied up. The straps around her wrists are completely ineffectual. The only thing keeping her arms above her head are in fact her own hands gripping a huge iron ring at the top of the device. Whether or not her ankles are truly tied to the base of the device can not be clearly seen. And besides the metal glove poking at her tits there is nothing else about this "torture device“ that seems even remotely capable of causing her pain. But for me the scene works due to the sadistic atmosphere and the dialogue of the torturer. "You must learn not to struggle!“ he admonishes her while she groans. "If it hurts, you have only yourself to blame. Every time you move, the machine is tightening. So you don't want to move anymore than you have to.“

While the torture device is visually completely ineffective, that dialogue does sell the scene. It's quite a sadistic idea to letting the needle poke into her tit and thereby forcing her to move and "tighten the machine“. The torturer himself is a hunchbacked, little guy, physically inferior to the tall amazon. But the scene works very well in that regard, that with the help of his torture devices, he has complete power over her. While he constantly delivers his taunting, evil dialogue, Amethea speaks not a single word. "I made this all myself.“ The torturer goes on clearly proud of his chamber of torment. "It's very ingenious, don't you think? Here, watch!“ he says and steps on some pedal. Behind Amethea some kind of large pendulum starts to swing back and forth and the glove over her breasts moves up and down in rapid movements. She shakes her head and moans in agony while the torturer laughs. When the machinery comes to rest he taunts his victim again. "Oooh. You don't look like you appreciate science.“

He then holds up a glass of water in front of Amethea's lips. "Say please!“ he commands but Amethea refuses and draws her lips back in defiance. "No manners at all.“ The torturer says but moves the glass back towards her lips. "Well, I'm not one who tortures somebody.“ As Amethea opens her mouth to drink he spills the water on her chest, grinning viciously. This provokes a great reaction from Amethea, her facial expression changing from anguish to silent rage. "You must learn to say please!“ the torturer goes on. "You must learn to say all sorts of things!“ At that moment Lord Arrakur and Amethea´s sister enter the torture chamber. As if giving his master a show of Amethea´s suffering he turns a crank at the side of the torture device causing the amazon to cry out in pain. "She still has nothing to say to us?“ Arrakur says and the torturer replies: "She is a strong one.“ Arrakur laughs viciously and says: 'You have broken stronger!“

This is a great touch and something I always enjoy. When two sadists are casually conversing while a woman is present and suffering pain. Not paying attention to someone being tortured greatly stresses the victim's status as a trivial object of torture unworthy of any consideration.

Another great detail is the presence of Amethea's sister, who acts like not knowing the tortured amazon. It's quite twisted that Arrakur is fucking Amethea´s sister in his bedroom above, while Amethea is tortured down below.

"I shall expect answers by the morning!“ Arrakur says sternly and leaves the torture chamber with her sister. "You heard his excellency.“ The torturer purrs and moves his hand towards her breast starting to knead it. Amethea furiously tries to bite his hand, unsuccessfully, and rebounds on the torture device in obvious pain.

Cut to an arena where gladiators are fighting to the death. It's a great idea to follow such an erotically charged torture scene with brutal male violence. However, there is a later scene where the gladiators and numerous scantily clad or naked slave-girls are having an orgy. It would have been even more effective, if the two scenes with Amethea in the torture-chamber had been interspaced with the orgy-scene.

Cut to the torture chamber, where the torturer is quite pleased with himself. "I really am ahead of my time.“ Then he moves towards Amethea still bound on the torture device. The metal glove is gone, though. "You should be very proud. You are making a contribution to science.“

He then jumps up on the torture device and rapes her. Only their upper bodies are shown at that point. But a furious sound of utter disgust by Amethea clearly indicates that he has just pushed his cock inside her. "Just a little more, my sweet!“ he purrs. A strange remark which might indicate that during the long torture session, of which we have only seen a fraction, he had already raped her. But the fun is over. Amethea breaks the bonds around her ankles and wraps her legs around the torturer's hips. She squeezes him into submission and forces him to free her hands. After which she throws him into a pit filled with acid. Then the good guys kill all the bad guys. Happy End.

As I mentioned above, these scenes might have been written tongue-in-cheek with over-the-top dialogue. It's interesting that Lana Clarkson stated on her message board that in the original script there was only the scene where she was tortured. The rape-scene was apparently added later. It's possible that the producers realized that the torture-scene has evolved from the intended parody into a steaming spectacle of sexually charged sadism and then decided to go all the way and showing Amethea get fucked on the torture-device. This theory might be supported with the following impression. While Lana Clarkson did a great job in displaying defiance and pain, I suspect that she was dubbed in post-production by another actress who added a lot of groans, moans and pitiful sobbing to the soundtrack in order to increase the sadistic impact of the scene.

In any event this torture-scene is probably my all-time favorite. It combines pretty much all my preferences. A fantasy-world setting (or at least a roman age-setting), a beautiful warrior-woman who is charging my sadistic desire to see her "taken down“, a sadistic tyrant, an even more sadistic torturer, a richly equipped chamber of torment AND the combination of torture and sex. Back then I rewound the tape and watched the scenes again. And again. And again. And to this day I fondly remember it and revisit it from time to time.

Arrakur: I love BARBARIAN QUEEN. I wish Lana Clarkson had done three of those movies, with more kink and bondage in each one. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate Phil Spector.

In the R-rated version a minor sub-plot about one of the gladiators becoming an informant for Lord Arrakur is completely left out. In Amethea´s torture-scene the shot of the metal glove poking her nipple is left out. There are some cuts in Amethea´s rape-scene, as well. And another cut worthy of note: During an orgy-scene you can see a gladiator fucking a slave-girl in the background of the scene. He suddenly gets angry, stops screwing her and slaps her a few times in the face and yelling "You bitch!". Then he resumes fucking her. Too saucy, apparently, to be put on DVD.

The movies sound good, the actresses are attractive and I do like the cheesy sci-fi look and superheroines getting what they deserve. But it seems Giga isn't too big on gags, which is unfortunate for my tastes. Still, the fact that Amazon is selling Zen movies is a good sign that more Japanese bondage porn could become available. The Japanese producers by now must know there are tons of perverts outside of Japan begging for their stuff.

arrakur: Wow! That was quite a post for "Barbarian Queen" and it was NOT boring. The Sword and Sorcery genre was also an early one for me that allowed me to hone my hunting abilities for GIMP material. Although I tended to gravitate more toward horror movies (still do), I found warrior princess flicks often delivered the goods. And you could almost always be guaranteed some beautiful naked babes.

Here's the strange thing. I loved "Barbarian Queen" but after your review I'm quite sure I saw only the R-rated version. The unrated version is now on my must-get list.

And ditto DHT's comment about Phil Spector. I hope that asshole runs into some Lana Clarkson fans in prison.

A Canadian: I was also unimpressed with "Caligula," and not because of the appalling acting. There was so much criticism about how vile and sadistic this movie was, that when I finally saw it, I thought: What's the big deal? That was one of the bigger disappointments for me. I hope the 3-D version is more GIMP-worthy.

Flintstone: Based on the pics Ralphus kindly provided, "Five Angry Men" looks like a winner. Welcome to the forum and keep on posting.

One other quickie review, the mainstream flick Homecoming features Jessica Stroup tied up in a couple of different positions including hands behind her back for about a third of the movie. She is clothed in a tank top and is a fairly attractive nubile young thing. The movie is kind of a female take on "Misery" with Jessica as a highway crash victim held prisoner by her boyfriends ex. There is a scene where Jessica is the victim of a Misery type maiming but it is not clearly shown. All in all its worth a C+ maybe a B- and certainly worth a Netflix rental.

Now one question I would love to see us put up in a poll at some time. Considering the many complaints about Japanese gimp acting especially from the beloved Maria Ozawa, who would you nominate as the winner of the Japanese Gimp Oscars? I would nominate these performances.

1) Yuri Wakabashi in Industrial spy (it is a shame this was her only significant gimp offering).

2) Ayumi Kase in Shark Special # 35

3) Sakuri Morishita in Giga's TSB-01 Super hard heroine rape ( I need to post a review of this most excellent flick)

4) Azumi Mizishima in Giga's TBB-50 (certainly the best newcomer to the field)

5) Rico Tachabana in Shark Special # 24

6) Azusa Ayano in Babys DDNG008 (another one I need to post a review of) The ONLY forced orgasm flick that is believable. Azusa is literally writhing in exhaustion and sweat while tied, great stuff.

I'd love to nominate Rio (Tina Yuzuki) but her only gimp effort was more of a mainstream flick (Stop the Bitch 3), but certainly a decent ride. And I'm sure there are a few others we can think of like Sakura Sakurada, Alice Hoshi, or Nene. One of my biggest complaints about Japan's Gimp industry is that actresses rarely give us more then one good effort. Of the girls I listed 1-6, the only one who had only one good flick was Juri Wakabashi, but it was great one.

Barbarian Queen: I was late getting to the party on this one. I had never heard of the BQ films until some clips showed up on YouTied a couple of years ago. I have to say, the first movie is indeed a classic and I am also a huge fan of the rape scene. Too bad it was edited in the DVD version. I'm sure Ralphus would be happy to explain the logic behind those cuts.

Favorite Japanese actresses: elkcreek has definitely included some top performers in his list, such as Jyuri Wakabayashi in Industrial Spy, Ayumu Kase in Shark Special 35 and Riko Tachibana in Shark Special 24 (many of Riko's scenes from that movie are also found on the compilation disc, Riko Tachibana Special).

I would add two other favorites, from the two films that received an A+ from me:

• Sayaka Miura in Shark 231.

• Luna Akatsuki in Slave Island 11.

First, every DVD issued (at least in the U.S.) is only the R-rated version. This is unfortunate, as the GIMP scenes are severely cut. For now, you'd need to get the VHS unrated versions (there are also R-versions) to get the best parts. However, see below.

Next, while some sellers are selling Barbarian Queen and Barbarian Queen 2 for unholy prices, Amazon.com still sells the 2 DVD set for under $13, at least until everyone here runs out and gets these R-rated gems.

Barbarian Queen 2 actually has a number of nice scenes in it, including a catfight and rack suspension over spikes. It should not be underrated by anyone.

Now the good news: Shout Factory is planning on issuing a collector's edition of Barbarian Queen, hopefully on Blu-Ray. This is good news, because so far, Shout Factory has issued fantastic Blu-Ray editions of other GIMPtastic films such as:

Humanoids From the Deep

-who can deny the appeal of actually seeing what Creature from the Black Lagoon only hinted at?

Galaxy of Terror

-Ever see a hot blonde get molested by a giant slimy worm?

Forbidden World

-This alien rip-off has hot girls in the soothing each other because of the scary alien. Stars Dawn Dunlap (the girl who is raped in the opening Barbarian Queen scene) and June Chadwick (who played a hot alien in the V television series in the 80's). June is worth the price of admission alone!

Anyway, one can hope that Shout Factory will make a high-quality Blu-Ray with full and complete scenes from Barbarian Queen and Barbarian Queen 2. For completeness, I hope they also issue a Blu-Ray of "Deathstalker" where Lana first made quite an impact. Actually, I first learned about Barbarian Queen via Playboy magazine, where Lana on the rack made the "Sex in the Cinema" annual roundup.

I'll have to chime in on the poll question at a later time, as I'll have to consider what made me realize I liked GIMP.

At any rate, it's a damn shame that the only way to see the first movie uncut is to find an original VHS version, which is what I took my highlights from. I also saw the movie on TV years ago (might have been USA Network or something like that) and stuck around to see how they would show the torture scene, since it has nudity and rape. I don't recall details, but it was pretty badly butchered.

I have an old copy of "Femme Fatales" magazine (dated 1992) that features an interview with Lana Clarkson. They specifically asked her what the difference was between the R-rated and the unrated versions.

"It's mainly in the torture scene," Clarkson explained. "That's the scene where I'm topless. It's probably my least favorite scene of all time. I'm supposed to crush this guy between my legs, but they made it look as though I was raped. At least I got to throw him into a vat of acid later, so I got my revenge. The R-rated version was all filmed above the bust, but I've never done any full-frontal nudity anyway."

Regarding Phil Spector, I'm not sure how many of you heard this story when it came out last year, but it just makes you want to hate the slimeball even more:

I was also quite impressed with Inseminoid, in which Stephanie Beacham was stripped and raped on a light table by giant penis-headed aliens. That was from the same era of alien rape movies. The biggest problem with that movie was that it was chock-full of luscious Brit babes and there was far too little nudity. And Julie Christie's rape by machine in Demon Seed was incredible as well. It was years later that I discovered the original novel by Dean R Koontz, which was actually better from a GIMP perspective. That was back when his writing was worth reading, of course, and I still highly recommend Night Chills for the great rape scene where the slimy loser orders the girl to perform for him while she is under the influence of the powerful hypnotic drug.

As for Deathstalker, I was so busy watching Barbi Benton that I nearly missed Lana Clarkson the first time around. I seem to recall Barbi Benton also had some brief GIMP in Hospital Massacre, but it has been so long maybe it is just wishful thinking from a decades-later perspective.


They just don't make movies like those any more.

John Galt - if memory serves me well the Barbi Benton scene in "Hospital Massacre" was short and not too sweet - about 2 minutes of her strapped to a gurney awaiting the attention of the hospital psycho - and nothing really happens before she makes her escape.

Did my mandatory viewing of "Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS" for the month - have always hoped some Gimp minded director would incorporate the ice block dinner hanging scene into a new production but alas, has never seen that come to pass - leave it to those zany Turks to have done it a decade before "Ilsa" - the above url is from a 1966 film "Altin Gocuk" - translation "Golden Boy" - once past the bad acting, b/w filming, use of an air blower and the cheesy 60's appearance of the actress it's not too badly done - I wish the poster had included the portion where the chick gets the cigarette burns on her chest.

Sloth: What an outstanding scene you found in that YouTube clip. I've never even heard of that movie, but I definitely want to see more. Have you seen the whole film? What about the cigarette burns on her chest, do they show that? Any other GIMPage?

I've seen that same scenario in a third movie, a direct to video cheapie called Mob Story with the luscious Kate Vernon noosed while standing on a chunk of ice. Doesn't have the same payoff ending as this one and the scene in Ilsa, but some nice suspense and certainly Kate Vernon was a babe. It also includes one of my all-time favorite lines, where they bad guy tells Kate, "This isn't torture to make you talk, this is torture for the fun of it!" Who can't relate to that? I found a copy real cheap on Amazon; when it arrives, I'll make some caps for the board.

Into the Attic was one of the first Gimp like sites I went to in the early days as it was one of the few places to view quality MAM's artwork - they certainly have come far since those days.

Stumbled across this little item the other day during a mindless wandering session across the YouTube wasteland - unknown movie but the actor is Bruno Cremer who played the French fugitive opposite Roy Scheider in "Sorcerrer" - thought it a nice chick dunking scene for those water guys out there.

~ Yes, the title is Latin. Since Jane isn't around to translate for us, I'll try to put my Catholic schooling to use here and say that it means A Roman Woman is Crucified. (We know it refers to a woman because Romana and Crucifixa both have the feminine ending "a"; besides, it's Jane, so it makes sense).

~ I forgot to note that there's a brief segment where JJ breaks off a thorny twig and torments Jane's inner thighs with it while she's tied to the ground - just about an inch or two away from her pussy. Nice bonus.

~ As I mentioned to Ralphus, I did not include my usual plethora of screen caps in the review because a) it's a lot of work and b) Red Feline offers plenty of caps and clips as previews for their movies. So if you'd like to catch a look, head on over to their site.

~ Here's a suggestion for how to take the Red Feline flicks up a notch. Since JJ is reluctant to get in touch with his inner villain for fear that he might go too far and get medieval on his actresses, perhaps he should try whistling. Yes, that's right...if one cannot be mean, be a merry GIMPer. Enjoy torturing Jane. While she's pleading for her life, give her a sneering, scoffing laugh. YikYakker - Thanks for the review and nice grade of Romana crucifixa est...! That was a particularly difficult movie to shoot. We had to hike an hour from the road with all our gear to get there. The ants you see in the film were intent on biting my crotch the entire day. Then, when JJ went off to look for something some guy came along and tried to steal our stuff. I had to pick up a big stick and chase him off. I was naked and covered in fake blood, so I think I scared him. I wonder what he told his buddies over beer that night?

A lot of my suffering was very real in that film. The sun is incredibly strong at 16,000 feet above sea level. We wanted to shoot the film in one day so JJ was particularly cruel to me. When I wanted to take a break he just looked up at the sky and said, "No, we'll keep working.". I took an awful whipping in addition to which the skin was scraped off the back of my hands and the bottom of my feet by the branch and tree I was tied to, as well as some serious sunburn. So when I have an expression of pain in that movie it's real pain.

I find it incredibly interesting to read all of the responses to the poll. I'm going to have to think about my reply to that one.

I've seen The Warrior and the Sorceress, which features Maria Socas (Deathstalker 2) and her perpetually exposed body. Seriously, this girl spends every minute of screen time "wearing" outfits that really cover nothing except her pubis. It's not a great flick, but ya gotta love a mainstream actress who can go through a whole movie in a continuous state of deshabille.

As narrator Natsumi (Ai Takeuchi) tells it, the “factory” is a subject of urban legend: a hidden, gangster-run facility where people deep in debt or trouble work off their obligations and are never heard from or seen again. Her boyfriend Koji, a reporter, goes undercover to investigate but disappears. Desperate Natsumi deliberately maxes out her credit cards so she can penetrate the secrets of the factory and find Koji.

Men and women labor in separate divisions of the factory, but the girls in Natsumi’s section aren’t safe from male predators. When any girl violates the rules, the “guidance counselor” can hike up her debt by thousands of dollars. Or, he can jump her bones and maybe forget the incident – maybe. Security personnel also feel free to take girls behind the constantly whirring and grinding machinery.

The only place where male and female workers meet is in the cafeteria, where Natsumi submits to an “elbow job” in an attempt to get information about Koji. But a catfight ensues between Natsumi and a jealous girl. The girl is taken away by male security guards, but Natsumi gets a trip to the ladies’ room with female supervisor Kurusawa (Nagisa Umeno), who started as a factory girl but fucked her way out of debt and into a high position. She douses Natsumi with buckets of water as the girl begs to know Koji’s whereabouts.

After the guidance counselor whispers to Natsumi that he has what she seeks, she takes the rap for another girl so she can be taken to his office. But he produces paperwork confirming Koji’s death in an accident. When Natsumi accuses him of lying, he shoves the papers in her face, tackles her on the sofa, grabs a scissors, cuts open her top and torments her nipples with the instrument. Natsumi puts up a good fight, but soon she is just another victim of the “counseling couch”.

Snooping in Kurusawa’s bedroom, Natsumi notices that she constantly wears a certain key around her neck, even while she’s boinking the company president. To get close to Kurusawa and her key, Natsumi presents herself in the women’s lavatory and initially co-operates in some sudsy snogging. She eventually rejects Kurusawa, but comes away with an impression of the key in a bar of soap (crafty little vixen – she must’ve watched a lot of prison movies.) But Kurusawa learns that Natsumi has been spying on her, so she ties the girl AOH in the counseling office. Natsumi feigns shock, but the lascivious president gets a reaction from her when he engages in some strategic groping. He dismisses Kurusawa and the others, then gets busy assaulting her on that same damn sofa (!). Natsumi’s hands are still tied together but unfortunately she’s not tied down to anything. But she looks great and her reactions are very nice. Interestingly, in the shot of the aftermath (which I really like), Natsumi’s hands are tied behind instead of in front (?). The material used to bind her wrists looks like pieces of rubber hose or straps.

Other girls in Natsumi’s section get raped earlier in the film, but we only see this happen in a brief montage with Natsumi narrating. I won’t give away the ending, but there’s no more GIMPage in the movie.

Movie plusses: The performances are decent, and the filmmakers do quite a bit with a small budget. Star Ai Takeuchi spends most of the early part of the movie wearing an enigmatic expression, like a Japanese Mona Lisa. But she becomes more animated as the movie goes on and the action gets hotter. The girls struggle and resist well. Takeuchi and Umeno are attractive rivals. Natsumi’s rape scenes are quite lengthy and intense. I never used the FF button.

Movie minuses: Some might be disappointed by the lack of explicit sex. There’s little bondage and no torture. This story is really about sexual slavery. These girls are bound by their oppressive circumstances, not by ropes or chains. I would like to have seen longer depictions of the other girls getting “penalized”.

In the “Making of...” feature on the DVD, Takeuchi is shown doing a very sexy, sweaty photoshoot in a much more revealing outfit than the one she actually wears in the film. Too bad they didn’t have her (and the other girls) look like this in the movie itself.

Even so, it has some interesting moments and I think it’s good for a rental. The sequel – Captive Factory Girls 2: The Revolt – looks like it might be a hotter outing, judging from stills I’ve seen. But this initial effort earns a B-.

YikYakker - yeah, that Tracy Ryan clip should get zapped any minute - a favorite among bagging scenes.

I'm not sure I'd give as high a grade on Captive Factory Girls. You hit the bullseye on the nose when you mentioned there’s little bondage and no torture, and it's about sexual slavery. Even before when you sent me the pictures to upload on the site, I noticed a lack of bondage. Bondage rape is always good, but like you showed in that one picture, she's not really tied down to anything. Even though she's holding her arms over her head (which helps the appearance, at least), if her wrists aren't restrained that way, then it's essentially a hands-in-front situation. Maybe I'm getting picky the more of these things I see, but it's just not good bondage. At least they remedied that in the aftermath when they were bound behind her.

If you go to the site, can you tell what company handles their billing? IBILL, EPOCH, CCBILL, and DHD are some common ones. If you figure that out, you can usually cancel your subscription on the processing company's site.

Speaking of Ilsa movies, I saw ILSA HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS way back when I was in high school. I watched most of it on fast forward looking for the good parts so someone please tell me if I'm remembering this right. Nonetheless, I guess this raises the question that I'm not sure we've addressed before: are the Ilsa sequels any good? I'm familiar with the first movie, of course, but have never seen the other two. elkcreek: Just a quick mainstream hit, I rented the "Assassin Next Door" yesterday at Blockbuster with Olga Kurylenko. It opens with a great beat down scene where some men grab her and another girl, kidnap them and take them to an abandoned building for some more beat down interrogation.

It can't be but so good if they both survive the beat-down!

Does anyone have any thoughts on the other film, Ilsa: The Wicked Warden? Apparently, the third film was directed by Jess Franco.

Ah, I'm glad you asked about that one. Ilsa, the Wicked Warden is not a real "Ilsa" movie at all. In fact, Dyanne Thorne's character isn't even named Ilsa in the film; she plays a character named Greta. The film is alternately named, among other titles, as "Greta the Torturer", "Greta, the Mad Butcher" and "Greta, the Sadist". Just to add to the confusion, the IMDB officially lists the film as "Wanda, the Wicked Warden", which really makes no sense since there's nobody in the film named Wanda at all.

It was given the "Ilsa" moniker, obviously, to take advantage of the popularity of the Ilsa series, which began with the classic "Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS". The fact that Dyanne Thorne plays a similar type sadistic lady character in this one just made it convenient for the powers that be to re-title this film and group it with the other 3 Ilsa films.

Anyway, is it any good? I think so. It's a typical Jess Franco film, in which we see various scenes of torture to mostly naked women. One scene I liked wasn't an actual bondage scene, but I thought it was pretty cool. In it, a naked Thorne tells an equally naked Lina Romay to lay perfectly still on a bed, then she takes pins and slowly pushes them, one by one, into Lina's breasts and works her way down her body. Lina grits her teeth but does not scream throughout the ordeal. Then Thorne suddenly forces her body down on top of Lina's, forcing the pins in much deeper! Yowch!

There's also a scene where Thorne, in order to cool down her a lady prisoner's sexual desires, does what any sadistic warden would do, and that's by injecting a vile of acid into the bound woman's pussy! Even though the action is implied, we see a curl of smoke coming from the unfortunate woman's nether regions, so you know she did the deed. As if that wasn't cruel enough, she follows that up by taping bare wires to the woman's temples and administering a dose of electric shock, so badly that the victim foams at the mouth.

There's also a nice, if too brief, whipping scene to another prisoner (naked, of course) and finally another electric shock scene to a yet another nude woman that's tied to the bed. And naturally, Dyanne Thorne plays a great lady villain, and she has that role down pat, since she had 3 other showcases playing basically the exact same character to practice on. No one watches a Franco film expecting a good movie, but for pervs and sick fucks who enjoy women being tortured (you all know who you are), it does deliver on that level, and that's the only thing that matters.

My grade: B-

I've seen all of the flicks in the series except Tigress of Siberia and liked them all. But I would agree that She-Wolf of the SS is probably the best of them.

Tigress of Siberia, on the other hand, is said to be the worst of the lot. Has anyone out there seen it?

Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks was actually the first one I watched. I don't remember the scene with the ants, but that's the kind of thing I would tend to block out.

When I first scanned the reviews database, I was amazed that none of the Ilsa films were listed. Although Tigress of Siberia is a major letdown, and as Ralphus points out, Wicked Warden isn't really an Ilsa film at all, I would have thought the first two were GIMP classics worthy of close scrutiny. They've been around over 35 years and have easily been available on tape and DVD, but given recent questions, it seems like many have yet to see them.

Well… I don't want to trample on your turf, but I've already taken up the challenge of writing a review of Harem Keeper, as this one seems to be slightly less known than the original Nazi themed release. I had hoped to get it posted today, but I am a s-l-o-w writer, and (I've been told) tend to be a tad wordy. I'm over half-way there though, and will likely get a chance to finish it after the weekend… so I hope to have it up with a few screen caps on Monday or Tuesday.

Good God is right… and no, such a scene was not in the film. Harem Keeper was shot in 1974. That's about five years after hard-core porn surfaced in grind houses, so the world was not yet ready for gynovision. In fact, there are far fewer shots of genitalia in this film than there were in the original. Though virtually all the female cast save Ilsa waltz through the movie topless, their nether regions are usually covered by thongs, towels or chastity belts.

Most likely, you are confusing two different torture scenes in the movie, both involving the same actress (Russ Meyer starlet Haji - a near perfect GIMPette I might add). After running afoul of Ilsa, she endures a variety of tortures (more in my review), but among them are:

• Having her left foot inserted into a sealed glass case filled with flesh eating ants. The carnivorous critters chow down on Haji's tender tootsie until it's virtually stripped to the bone (all shown in loving detail thanks to Joe Blasco's realistic make-up effects). In the film, Haji plays a spy who's cover is a belly-dancing harem girl. "How can she dance when she has no feet?" says Ilsa, always one for subtle irony :-).

• Later on, having suffered even more abuse, a barely alive Haji is made the subject of a truly nasty experiment which involves plastic explosives, a dildo machine and a forced orgasm. Unlike Barbarella, our hapless heroine does not come out too well from this encounter. The scene does involve a few items being shoved up the girl's vag (more implied than actually shown) and thus may have led someone to imagine the carnivorous ants from the earlier scene were involved.

If you are looking for a bondage movie, Harem Keeper probably won't fit the bill. Ilsa's female victims are often restrained while being abused, but the emphasis is mostly on the torture. Ilsa herself has the best bondage scene when she's attacked by that leper. She's chained spread-eagle between two pillars and has her clothes ripped off before being raped. It's a pretty hot sequence actually.

Been away for a bit, including an escape from a hot naked woman covered in blood in the woods. I was fortunate enough to see a bit of GIMP action in some mainstream movies. I'll get to them in another post, but let's get caught up first.

Into the Attic: I've seen some work by this company and they seem to really take things to the limit with some innovative torture. I loved the use of crickets in the previous daily pic. Insects have a way of evoking realistic terror among the victims.

There are some good elements in the sequels but nothing as good as She-Wolf.

Harem Keeper of Oil Sheiks is probably the best of the Ilsa sequels IMHO. The ant torture may not be for you, but there's a good scene of a leper raping Dyanne Thorne who is tied between two poles, and some other brief scenes of torture, including forced feeding and a mechanical dildo that causes the helpless victim's vagina to explode. I guess if you want to go out with a bang, that's the way to do it. Fritz could probably provide more details. Looking forward to the review.

Thanks Ralphus, for the review of Ilsa the Wicked Warden. But now that jhlipton is back, I think the effective bagging-suffocation of the victim in front of her sister near the end of the movie is worth mentioning as well.

I know only that she is a Powershotz Model. I have a fairly large collection of Powershotz images that I downloaded from the site during my most recent membership. I have all the images grouped by model and each model's images are stored in a folder under her name. This model on the other hand I cut out of other images where she was paired with an additional Powershotz girl. The other girl that she was paired with is Tiki. I have already painstakingly compared her images against all the other images I have and none of them even remotely resemble her. This girl has one identifying feature, a faint star shaped tattoo on the front of one of her legs near the joint where it connects to her pelvis. The tattoo is of a traditional five pointed star.

Right now, I have her images gathered in a folder under the name "Unknown Model". It's pitiful that she doesn't have her name in the folder name. I hope someone can identify her so she can gain some sort of identity.

I was disappointed with Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell, already reviewed in detail by our friend Sloth. I thought most of the movie was terrific, and if I were reviewing just the first 3/4 of it, I probably would give it an A. But from the enema scene onward, I felt it simply failed in so many ways. And the titular victim (hee-hee, I said titular) stunning though she was, kept emitting the same bleating sound no matter what was happening to her. Borrrring. Besides, you can't tell whether she's hating it or loving it. By the end, you know the answer.

Like Sloth, I would take this movie down several pegs and give it an overall assessment of C+. My suggestion is to check it out, but stop watching once the girl gets into the water tank (unless you're really into water bondage).

TGG: Delila Darling is definitely worth checking out. Drop dead gorgeous, delightful body, pleasingly talented performer, and she comes closest to fighting back realistically. I reviewed a couple of the DVDs on which she is featured, as well as some of her individual clips. If you get VL-047 Hoosier Daddy in its download format, it includes the standard Powershotz ending as well as the snuff customer request ending.

I think several Powershotz models are beautiful and it is a close call, but Delila barely edges out Hazel for me personally. I love the young and innocent look, though, so I would have no problem listing my Top Ten Powershotz Beauties. Sadly, some of my favorite beauties never did as much bondage sex as I would have liked to see, so while they get high scores for looks, they get mediocre scores for clip content. Any contest would have to be specific about what exactly is being judged.

On the subject of a GIMP board beauty pageant, we should keep it simple. I would prefer that we just judge them on attractiveness. If desired, we could also judge them on Vulnerability and Defiance.

Ralphus can run a series of pictures as the daily picture, either one for each Powershotz model participating or a composite image showing several girls each day. Note, Ralphus would need to list the names of the girls participating in the caption under the daily picture in case one of us isn't familiar with a particular girl, I know I'm not familiar with all of them. We would then score each girl on a scale of 1 to 10 for each category. For those of us who aren't familiar with the clips and DVDs that the models appear in such as myself for example, it wouldn't be required to score a girl in all three categories. Just submit scores for those categories that you are familiar with. The girl who has the highest overall score by the time voting is done would win the title "Ms GIMP".

The beauty pageant would run in two phases. The first phase would be the presentation phase where all the models are presented. We can submit votes during this phase if desired, but I suggest that we wait until it is done to give all the girls a fair chance. The second phase would be the judging phase where we submit our scores, one of us would tally them up, and announce the winner. The presentation phase would run for two weeks and then the judging phase would start and run for one more week afterward. Since I originally came up with the idea for a GIMP beauty pageant, I'll gladly tally up the scores.

Thinking about your whole collection, are there any particular scenes or movies that you return to when there's nothing new to watch...something that always "does the trick for you"? We're talking about those old standbys that may not be original but never fail to please in a pinch, so to speak.

For me, there's probably several, but one of the first that comes to mind would be from the ZFX classic The Reporter 2: Gangstarr starring Monica Moore. For all the terrific tortures and rape scenes that Rick Masters has given us over the years, this relatively simple setpiece does it for me every time. Monica is tied naked spreadeagled to a rusty bed frame and Bryan Dunhill ties a cleave gag into her mouth and tells her to get some sleep. He exits and turns out the light and she starts to cry, knowing she will tied this way all night.

But then there's a twist. The light turns back on and Dunhill returns. "Oh, I almost forgot, I'm supposed to put these on you," he tells her, and proceeds to clamp clothespins onto each of her nipples! "This'll help ya sleep better," he tells her, giving her a kiss and turning out the light again. Her situation just got a whole lot worse! How's she going to sleep with those clothespins on her nipples all night? It's gonna be a long, painful night. It's just a brilliant sadistic touch in a great movie that always rings my bell.

Regarding Tigress of Siberia: I agree with Eda. The director (or writer) of this so-called sequel did not have a clue about the "Ilsa esthetic". In Tigress, the star is no more than a standard misanthropic dominatrix.

Overlooked was the fact that in the first two films, Ilsa focused most of her animosity on women. In these, I only recall two scenes in which she tortures a man: the poor SOB who gets castrated in the pre-credits sequence of She Wolf, and the eunuch who is "disciplined" in Harem Keeper. Ilsa tends to cozy up to the guys, especially the blond-haired hunks she falls for.

In Tigress, almost all the violence is aimed at males, though I do recall one scene in which a naked girl is strapped to a bed and "psychologically tortured" by visions of insects crawling over her body. I only have the foggiest memory of that as I haven't seen this film in over 30 years.

In any case, having enjoyed the first two Ilsa movies before the release of Tigress of Siberia, my expectations for this third film in the series were very, very high. It ended up being perhaps the biggest let-down I've ever experienced in a movie theater (and yes, I saw it on celluloid). Not only was there no GIMP action, there was only one scene involving female nudity. As Eda rightly points out, the Siberian setting had everyone walking around in winter finery which made them look like the Michelin Man. The movie was shot in Montreal, where I lived for a spell in the 1980's. In February, Montrealers go to Siberia to work on their tans. People wear parkas to bed. Nudity? Fuggetaboutit.

Years later, I rented this film on VHS, and imagine my astonishment when instead of the fruit demonstration, I saw an extended sequence of Haji with her (very) large mammaries slowly being squashed in the machine. Quite unbelievable for a film shot in 1974! Though I much prefer the "uncensored" variation, I have never again seen the fruit-demo version I first saw in the theater. Lately, I even began thinking I had imagined it, but thanks to Eda, I now know it exists. Is this on DVD? If so, who is the distributor? Ideally, a complete version showing both the demo and the actual torture would be the best, but does it exist? The only other variant I've seen cuts over 20 minutes from the film, including virtually all of Haji's scenes - which from a GIMP perspective, are the main reason to watch it.

Eyes of a Stranger: The scene where the blonde at the beginning of the film. Probably high on my list because it was the first thing I ever saw like this. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a girl stripped topless, brutally slapped in the face, throwing her back on her bad (breasts bounce nicely as the lands), and is set up to be raped and strangled (she is strangled off camera). Still one of my favorites because the girl is hot, she acts very well and looks like she is about to die of terror, and as our very own John Galt said in his review (which see) “Very few high-pitched horror movie type screams, and more real-to-life sounds of distress.” Other scenes of the movie are also GIMP-worthy.

Don't Answer the Phone: Another early one of its’ kind that I saw. Several GIMP-worthy scenes of interest, most notably the scene where Paula Warner gets bound, her nightgown ripped open, and hot wax poured on her (wax not shown but she screams most satisfyingly). Good acting on her part and nice breasts.

Night Prowler: A ZFX classic. Victoria Vixen gets abused, and the scene where she is anally raped with her stiletto heel never fails to raise my pulse rate. Travis repeatedly rams is up her hard, and she utters a grunt/stifled scream with each thrust, her full breasts jiggling each time. That’s the way it should be done! Other great scenes with Allison Perish and Courtney Bishop, too (though the Bishop assault in the shower was just enough to go someplace when it ended).

Blood Sucking Freaks: Need I say more here? Several good scenes… personal favorite is the electric torture scene featuring our famous moderator. Again, I'd never seen anything like that before, and about blew a fuse when I saw electrical wires clamped to a girls breasts and watcher her arch her back and scream in agony as current was applied.

Expensive Tastes: They don't make them like this any more. The first rape victim in particular was cute and did a great job of acting scared and violated. It was most stimulating to watch her get climaxed on her face and ass, among other things.

Guinea Pigs III: ZFX. Most notably the Kimber Allen scenes, mainly where she’s assaulted/raped by Travis at the beginning. Killer body. Not the greatest actress though. Other hot scenes in the film as well.

Galaxy of Terror: The original alien monster rape scene with Taffee O’Connell. Hot girl stripped and raped by a giant worm. Actress really sells it, and good production values (though darkly lit unfortunately). If you like this sort of thing, this is the best and you probably already know about it.

DeathMatch: From SpaceBabe Central. Some okay stuff for the most part, but parts 17-19 where a contestant is jumped by two bad guys who proceed to beat, strip, and beat her mostly for fun, taking turns, is a personal favorite that never gets old. It probably appeals to be for its fantasy quality—there’s no blood and the girl takes much more punishment than anyone could come close to standing in reality. Oh yes, she’s raped, too. The actress has done similar bits with other web sites from his vendor, as well, and sells it.

South of the Border III: ZFX classic. Many GIMP-worthy scenes, favorites of mine being the electro torture and rape of Christina Anderson. The rape scene with her in Pt. 4 (I think) is awesome, too.

I loved that scene, too. But there is one faux pas in the scene: Halfway through, the wire to one of her nipples falls off (which obviously would break the current), but the girl keeps on screaming.

From conventional movies there are a few; the rack scene from Inquisition, the scene from Ilsa, She-Wolf...where the brunette is tied to a "specimen table" and evil Ilsa is poised to insert some flaming thing that will "eat you away"..

There are certainly more scenes from conventional movies, but I don't want to list too many.

From fetish films, one that pops up into mind is a scene featuring the extremely hot Nikki Dial suspended high from the ceiling and bathed in sweat. The scene is from the "Tower of Lyndon" and the evil mistress saying "see what a lather I put on this bitch..." or words to that effect.

There are also several ZFX scenes...one is from the "666" series, I forget which part, but has a brunette suspended from her wrists and the villain has another rope around her ankles and he keeps pulling her legs up and down like a puppet, and whips her glistening body.

There are also many scenes from the old "Bondage Classics" series and there are many great whippings from the folks at Paingate that make the cut.

But in an attempt to be brief, I will say that the very first bondage movie I ever saw with live sound - "Tourist Trap" has a few scenes that always do it, but in particular the one where "Jennie" is hung up with one leg straining well above her head.

A few common themes evolve around most of the scenes that do it for me: suspension, visible sweat, and good whipping.

Ilsa the Harem-Keeper: Wow. Way back, I had read (either here or in another site) about the scene where the breast squeezer is shown actually being applied on the victim, and not merely demonstrated on fruit. Since then, I have not scene even a single shred of proof, not even a vidcap, of the scene, such that I assumed it doesn’t exist. And now, both Eda and Fritz confirm actually viewing the scene. That’s now part of my short ‘Holy Grail’ list. I HAVE to see that scene. I doubt that anyone would ever try to duplicate such a scene in today’s films. Too bad.

• A Clockwork Orange: The scene where Billyboy and his four droogs are getting ready to rape the weepy young devotchka is very effective. Another favorite from that film is the rape of Mrs. Alexander.

• The Ginger movies: The scenes where Ginger is raped in Ginger and Girls are for Loving and the scene where Gerie Bronson is raped in The Abductors are winners.

• Shark 231: The rape scenes with pretty Sayaka Miura have never been surpassed.

• Slave Island 11: Lots of strong scenes in this one, but two in particular that keep me coming back are the rape of Luna Akatsuki near the beginning and the gang rape of Luna later on when she is bound on all fours to a gym mat.

• Slave Island 8: Again, a film with a number of scenes that can be revisited time and again, but I particularly like the one where a horrified Nana Nanami watches the broken Megu Hoshino providing a blowjob to a villain, and is then forced to blow her own captor.

• South of the Border 4: The scene where Lisa Kinkaid is tightly bound to a stake and tortured with a stun gun is always worth a return visit.

• The Last House on the Left: This is probably a controversial pick, but I love the scene where Phyllis is gang raped off-camera. Even though you can't see it, the sounds of Phyllis struggling and protesting is quite hot, in my view.

I'm there, man.

In the discussion about Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks, there has been no mention of the participation of our own diminutive moderator in that production. Now, I know this tale has long fallen into the category of urban legend, but proof of its veracity has emerged. The evidence is this shot from the movie's slave auction scene. (Ralphus is the one on the far right of the screen).

In war, there are no winners -- except for those lucky folks who stumble across a well-done bondage-rape scene. And Battlefield Gangbang has a scene that is simply exceptional.

The movie is about female soldiers who are taken hostage and are bound by their captors -- usually tied to stakes in the ground -- and raped. Most of the scenes are OK -- they're somewhat lacking in eroticism -- but there is a scene near the end featuring 38-year-old Maki Tomoda (yes, she's 38) that is really hot. Technically, it's not much different than the other scenes, but Maki is a terrific actress and she really sells it. For her performance alone, this movie is recommended viewing.

The story is about a band of guerrillas fighting with some regular-army types in a jungle. Both sides have their share of attractive females enlisted in their ranks. The female fighters are captured by their opponents and are gang raped.

First up is Riku Shiina, of Slave Island 10 fame. Riku plays a guerrilla who is captured by some filthy-looking army soldiers -- by filthy, I mean they have dirt on their faces. Riku is marched through the jungle with a wooden stick tied into her mouth as a bit gag, and taken to a hut. Inside the hut, the soldiers force Riku to lie on her back on the ground, while a rifle is pointed at her head. A soldier pulls off Riku's pants and panties and lifts up her top. Another soldier pulls his dick out of his pants and proceeds to fuck Riku on the dirty ground, while the rifle remains pointed at Riku's head, and the wooden bit gag is still tied in her mouth. The guy finishes by cumming inside Riku.

Riku is next seen fully naked, on her back on the ground, with her arms and legs spread and tied to wooden stakes. Four soldiers take turns raping Riku in this position (although in the final two rapes, her right foot has been untied). Riku is a convincing victim who makes a squeaking sort of noise and looks credibly anguished as she is being violated. When the gang rape is finished, we see Riku -- now fully dressed -- forced to kneel on the ground, and she is shot in the back of the head.

The next victim is Yuuka Matsushita, a guerrilla with an enhanced rack who has been captured by soldiers. She is tied to the ground naked, with her arms and legs spread and tied to stakes, and fucked by two soldiers. For some bizarre reason, the second guy unties her feet, but her arms remain tied.

Athletic-looking Shoko Yokoyama is next. She is tied naked to stakes in the same position, and a soldier licks her pussy. He unties her feet (WTF?) and rapes her. The action jumps to a new location, where Shoko is tied on her back to something that looks like a suspended wooden table, with her arms and legs spread, and a soldier rapes her on her back. She is moved into a new position, where she is tied down lying on her front, and another guy rapes her. Not terribly erotic, although Shoko is another victim who looks credibly anguished, and there is a nice close-up on her face -- looking shell-shocked -- as the second rapist cums inside her.

The storyline changes slightly at this point. Rather than female guerrillas being raped by soldiers, the movie shifts to ... female soldiers being raped by guerrillas.

Maki Tomoda and Erina Misaki, who are both quite attractive, play the two soldiers who are captured by the guerrillas. They are held prisoner in a hut, with their hands clasped behind their heads, as one guerrilla verbally interrogates them. Maki is then taken away by some guerrillas, while three other guerrillas force Erina to strip off her shirt, her pants and her panties. Erina's arms are tied over her head to ropes that are hanging from the roof. A guerrilla points a gun at Erina's head and forces kisses on Erina's pretty face.

The guerrilla crouches down and rubs some water from a canteen onto Erina's pussy and ass. He then kneels down behind Erina and licks her ass. The guerrilla stands up behind Erina, whose arms are still tied to the roof, and fucks her in a standing position. A second rapist also violates Erina in a standing position, dinking her from both the front and the back, in positions that occasionally look a bit vanilla (such as when he lifts her leg).

Out in the woods, the guerrillas prepare to violate my favorite actress in this film, Maki Tomoda. Maki, wearing a camouflage-design T-shirt and matching pants, is forced to stand with her arms clasped behind her head, and watch as the guerrillas drive wooden stakes into the ground. The guerrillas then remove Maki's shirt, pants and panties, and force her to lie on the ground naked (wearing only her army boots). The guerrillas pry open Maki's legs and use ropes to tie Maki's arms and legs to the stakes. One guerrilla (the guy who always wears the blue track pants in the Slave Island movies) moves in and starts licking Maki's pussy and her perfect-sized breasts. The guerrilla then drops his pants and gets on top of Maki to fuck her missionary style (and, thankfully, her legs and arms remain bound to the stakes).

Maki's acting in this scene is first-rate. Her gasping and writhing as she gets drilled are very effective, and her bottom lip quivers in a way that is quite sexy. At key moments, Maki arches her back, throws her head back and lets out some deep moans that are phenomenal. After the first rapist finishes, a second guerrilla violates Maki. The second guy's round is not quite as intense, but is still very good.

Meanwhile, back at the hut, things are really piling up ... oops, I mean, back at the hut, pretty Erina is lying on her back on a straw mat, with her arms tied apart (her feet are untied). A guerrilla licks Erina's pussy and then takes her in the missionary position. Pretty Erina looks horrified as she gets fucked pretty hard ... too bad her feet were untied, or this scene would have been excellent. As is, it's still pretty good.

In the end, Erina and Maki -- dressed in their uniforms -- are taken by the guerrillas to a wooded area, where each woman is forced to kneel down and is shot in the back of the head.

It should be noted there are some consensual scenes in this movie, which I couldn't be bothered to review. There are also some Ed Wood-like continuity problems in a few scenes, which I didn't describe but viewers are sure to notice. Finally, the entire cast appears in a dance number at the end that was too surreal for me to put into words (I think the idea was to assure viewers that this was only a movie).

My grade: B+

While this flick could have been better, it does have a Zero Woman sort of nastiness to it that's appealing, and Maki Tomoda's rape scenes are outstanding -- arguably the best I've seen in a while. It ain't perfect, but Battlefield Gangbang is definitely worth seeing.

Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks

The first thing to note about Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks is that it is a worthy successor to the infamous, original Ilsa flick, She Wolf of the SS. It not only shares the same director with its predecessor, but several actors as well. Aside from Dyanne Thorne who essentially plays the same role she had in She Wolf (despite meeting a rather nasty demise in 1945), Richard Kennedy, Buck Flower, Uschi Digard and Sharon Kelly all return for more sado-sexual shenanigans. The gruesome make-up effects of Joe Blasco are back too.

Moreover, the director of photography on Harem Keeper is Dean Cundey who went on to shoot Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and Apollo 13, among many other A-list productions. The art direction and sets are by Erik Nelson who graduated to become props master on Lethal Weapon, The Color Purple and many more well-known favorites. As a result, the overall look and feel of this low-budget effort is far better than it has any right to be. Technically, it is remarkably well made for what is in essence an S&M fetish film.

That said, Harem Keeper isn't nearly as brutal or outrageous as the original. It avoids the nasty Nazi associations, and the female victims look more like the pampered porn stars they are rather than downtrodden concentration camp inmates. Overall, Harem Keeper has the gloss of a Russ Meyer film, and even features several of his regular girls in the cast: just look for the ones who "stand out" from the others.

So what's inside? Well, let's just admit the writers aren't about to win any Oscars for best original screenplay. Remember, the plots of terrors like this one exist only to set up the sex and peril. And that, in case you are wondering, is a good thing. But unlike a traditional X-rated porn flick, there is a story here which ties together the action, so Harem Keeper is far more watchable than say, Debbie Does Dubai.

The plot consists of a hodgepodge of separate threads which sometimes overlap, but generally progress along independent trajectories. The first of these involves the arrival of three young beauties captured by white slavers and brought to the desert compound of El Sharif (an over-the-top performance by "Victor Alexander"), the Middle East sheik whom Ilsa serves. The hapless girls are played by Kelly, Digard and a third actress who valued her career enough to keep her name out of the credits. They arrive at El Sharif's harem, naked and unconscious, laid out in wooden crates for Ilsa's inspection.

As the titular harem keeper, Ilsa is responsible for whuppin' this trio into shape, which primarily involves turning them from spoiled rich bitches into compliant sex slaves. This plot thread wastes a wealth of GIMP opportunities. The girls are always naked, imprisoned in giant bird cages, and hide their pussies beneath unwieldy chastity belts (good or bad depending on your preference for 70's style pubic nests), but their peril is limited to being "forced to use their tongues" and being threatened with hungry rats crawling up their hoo-haws (a punishment which sadly is never enforced).

Given this is an Ilsa film, there could have been much more anguish in store for these babes, but aside from pleasuring the sheik in what appear to be semi-consensual sex scenes, they don't suffer all that much. Granted, Sharon Kelly's character meets a rather tragic end when she is accidentally shot by an assassin trying to kill El Sharif, but the other two survive their "ordeals" and happily fly home at the end of the film. Overall, the new-arrivals plot is a major disappointment, and a real waste of GIMP talent (especially if you remember what happened to Digard and Kelly in She Wolf).

Thankfully, some disconnected scenes involving other harem girls are considerably more brutal. Early in the film, the sheik's personal doctor proudly shows Ilsa the tricks he uses to "enhance" the unfortunates chosen to be sold at auction. One has her rump inflated with a direct injection of silicone, another has her chewed-off ear disguised, and a busty gal with really bad gashes under her boobs has the wounds covered up as if Bondo™ were being applied to a rusted out Ford. There's no real peril here, just pained victims and non-anesthetized surgery, so these scenes won't appeal to everyone.

For reasons which escape me, morbidly obese women command top dollar at the slave auction, so another GIMP scene shows an underfed girl in the harem dungeon being slapped around before having a disgusting gruel mechanically forced down her gullet. This is followed by absolutely terrifying shots of women who have no problem eating their porridge voluntarily, apparently by the bucketful. Be warned, watching this sequence will likely scar you for life.

The auction itself is a rather dreary affair, with assorted naked harem girls and even a few guys parading around in chains and being humiliated. One of the females has a particularly dazzling set of chompers, which displease her new owner who "does not like the scrape of teeth". So we are treated to a scene of the poor woman undergoing some impromptu dental work performed with a hammer and chisel. In another gross-out moment, the dismembered remains of a wayward harem girl and her eunuch lover (?) -who failed in their bid to escape- are displayed to Ilsa's charges to warn them of the consequences of such foolish behavior.

These sort of shock scenes pop up frequently in Harem Keeper, and have little to do with the overall narrative, but they are GIMP related so I've included them here. The main story involves a diplomatic mission from the US, a rather impoverished one as it consists of only two guys: a senior bureaucrat named Kaiser portrayed by Kennedy (the bombastic Nazi general in She Wolf) and his aide Adam, played by an unbearably wooden actor named Max Thayer. Kennedy plays his part as if he were Henry Kissinger (remember this is the 1970s) and the other guy just reads his lines from off-screen cue cards.

The goal of this mission is to persuade El Sharif to relinquish more oil from his desert empire to the States. Kaiser prefers to do this via traditional diplomacy, while Adam resorts to subterfuge. Adam has planted a comely female agent in the harem to spy on the sheik, and he also hopes to seduce Ilsa to get her support. Plan A fails miserably (more on that later) but within hours of the Americans' arrival at the sheik's compound, Adam succeeds in bedding Ilsa (in a truly embarrassing sex scene). Our reserved heroine soon falls for Mr. Dull-as-Dishwater and her loyalty to El Sharif begins to waver.

When she disobeys her master and refuses to dispose of Adam, it's time for the Teutonic blonde to get a taste of her own medicine. The sheik chains her up spread-eagled between two pillars, then sets loose a leprosy-stricken beggar (whom Ilsa had beaten earlier) to do with her as he pleases. Although this scabrous chap looks like he's already got one foot in the grave, he still knows a good thing when he sees it. Crawling up to the restrained Ilsa on all fours, he tears off her gown and proceeds with some serious carpet munching. As her character endures this rather oddball rape, Dyanne Thorne really sells the scene with her guttural groaning and looks of disgust. Nobody can do revulsion quite as well as Ilsa.

Of course, being ravished and humiliated in front of her employer and his entire entourage does little to patch things up between Ilsa and El Sharif. She pretends to have learned her lesson, but secretly teams up with Adam to overthrow the sheik. This leads to a climactic battle in the final reel, which echoes the prisoners' revolt in She Wolf, though in this case the outcome is far less grim. El Sharif is killed and his twelve year old nephew (previously locked up in the dungeon because he is the rightful ruler of the sheikdom) takes his place.

Other highlights in Harem Keeper include an impressive fire stunt (regrettably with a male victim) and a lesbian dance number featuring Satin and Velvet, Ilsa's frisky and usually topless assistants. These two ebony, well-oiled babes are so entertaining, they really deserve a movie of their own. When not making out with each other, they're usually terrorizing the neighborhood, administering discipline on Ilsa's behalf. In one memorable scene, they wrestle a hulking male guard to the ground and tear his gonads off with their bare hands. Later, whilst wearing nary a stitch of clothing, they grease up and dive into the final skirmish, joining Ilsa and Adam to fight it out with the sheik's private army. Sadly, both Satin and Velvet are killed during the assault, and any hope of GIMP action featuring this lovely pair dies with them.

"Then what's the big deal?" you may ask. A few so-so peril and torture scenes alone won't hold a jaded viewer's interest, nor will the gross-out gore… and all those wasted opportunities are just plain frustrating. So, as if to make up for the movie's failings, one of those gratuitous plot threads is aimed squarely at the hard-core sadists who lined up for She Wolf years earlier.

This story thread features the aforementioned spy-girl hired by Adam to infiltrate the harem and secretly monitor El Sharif's actions. Not only is the ill-fated, nameless agent (played by the pneumatic Haji, one of those Russ Meyer girls) among the most gorgeous gals in the cast, she single handedly endures enough thoroughly nasty treatment to redeem the whole movie.

You know Haji the spy is in for trouble when she's introduced as a woman looking for revenge against the sheik, having watched him torture her family to death when she was a child. She agrees to go undercover as a belly-dancing harem girl and wears a microphone hidden in a navel-affixed ruby (which constitutes the bulk of her skimpy outfit). After barely completing one dance, the careless agent is nabbed by Satin and Velvet while listening to her secret recordings.

Quick as a whip, Haji winds up in Ilsa's dungeon… and a whip is what is being used on her as Ilsa begins the obligatory interrogation. After a relatively mild lashing, Haji concocts a lame story about stealing the recording apparatus from one of the other harem girls (one whom Ilsa observes "is conveniently dead"). Ilsa doesn't buy it, and demands to know who is behind the plot to spy on El Sharif. When Haji bravely refuses to answer, Ilsa orders up some more persuasive tortures.

In the next scene, we see topless Haji with her double D breasts streaming blood and clamped in a giant vice. As Ilsa continues her questioning, Satin and Velvet (yes, it takes both of them to operate this contraption) turn the screws which bring the jaws of the vice closer and closer together. Haji screams for mercy, but her three tormentors are relentless. Ilsa begins to lose patience and reveals a box filled with flesh eating ants. "If the press does not persuade her," she says, "we have ten-thousand friends who will. How can she dance when she has no feet?" Apparently with better things to do, she delegates the rest of Haji's interrogation to her assistants: "Call me when she begins to talk."

Several scenes later we return to the dungeon, where Satin and Velvet are busy loading ants into a sealed glass container encasing Haji's left foot. The poor spy looks considerably worse for wear, but still very attractive despite having two blood-soaked splotches where her breasts used to be. The carnivorous ants are doing their work. We are treated to slow-motion time lapse photography of the little critters slowly chewing away Haji's foot until only the bones remain. This proves too much for our stoic young heroine, and she finally spills that she is working for the Americans (surprise!).

At this point, the movie returns to some of its other disconnected story threads, and seems to drop the Haji plot altogether, leaving us to think the agent is dead. No such luck for her though. In one of those grisly shock scenes, we return to our long-suffering gal still chained up in the dungeon, but now missing her right eye. It's been gouged out and fed to Kaiser, who thinks he's downing a sheep's eyeball at El Sharif's dinner party. Apparently sheep are treated better than treacherous belly dancers in the harem.

As if all this abuse wasn't enough, there's still more in store for Haji, who finally is dragged out of the dungeon to wind up strapped to a gurney in the med-room. Here Ilsa proudly announces that she's kept her favorite victim barely alive to act as a demonstration of her latest invention, a way for El Sharif to do away with his many enemies. This sequence really needs to be seen to be believed, but I'll give it a go here…

Haji lies on the gurney unconscious, dressed in nothing but a tiny, blood-splotched white towel. Plastic explosives are rammed up her snatch (no reaction) followed by a dildo attached to an electric crankshaft (still no reaction). El Sharif and Ilsa step behind a screen (for safety) while Ilsa starts up the crankshaft which proceeds to thrust the dildo in and out of Haji's pussy. Finally, the failed spy begins to react. Shock? Pain? Horror? No sirree - after days of torture and despite losing her tits, her foot and an eye, she is getting turned on! As Ilsa speeds up the fucking machine ("faster… deeper…") Haji's sexual moaning and orgasmic expressions reveal that she is being forced to climax.

Just as she bleats out her release, the explosives, which have been rigged to detonate at just that moment, blow the failed spy to bits, splattering gory chunks of Haji across the barrier protecting Ilsa and an awe-struck El Sharif. Apparently, Ilsa's secret weapon will create girl-bombs who will literally fuck the sheik's enemies to death. Haji's last, selfless act was to prove that Ilsa's invention works. This scene is truly as delirious as it sounds, and plays like a sexual sadist's interpretation of John Hurt's chest-burster segment in Alien.

With Haji finally pushing up daisies, the best GIMP elements of Harem Keeper draw to a close. But I've devoted the lion's share of this review to her scenes as they are what make this movie, as mentioned earlier, a worthy successor to the original. Haji's character was created solely for the purpose of providing the requisite thrills we seek, and she is not only a gorgeous victim, but a very game and believable one at that. How many actresses, mainstream or otherwise, would agree to play a role like this today?

And finally, what of Ilsa? Once again, the film squanders a great opportunity. Briefly joining the good guys, Ilsa can't hide her stripes for long. In her eagerness to get revenge on El Sharif, she instructs one of her girl-bombs to pleasure the sheik while he is strapped down and gagged. Having watched the Haji demo earlier, he knows what's, er... coming, but can't warn the girl who is diligently riding him that she will explode on climax. Of course she does (though this time with less fanfare), blowing both herself and her former master to smithereens.

When Adam catches wind that Ilsa sacrificed an innocent girl to get even with El Sharif, he ditches her and blabs to the twelve year old nephew. At this point, the new ruler could easily have consigned Ilsa to the dungeon to endure another twenty minutes or so of torture at the hands of her former victims. But nooooo... she winds up in the straw-covered pit in which the nephew spent his years in captivity. Far from an ideal ending, but it did leave things open for a sequel. Too bad that the sequel proved to be a major fail.

So how do I score this one? Well, as a mainstream exploitation picture which features sex and sadism, Harem Keeper is no She Wolf, but still a solid B+ (especially when compared to the limp "torture porn" being released today). As a GIMP purist's fetish film with lots of bondage, rape and clothespins on the nipples, it's at best a C, but that's not what it was intended to be. And for a compilation consisting only of Haji's tortures and over-the-top demise (my personal reason for keeping this one in my top ten) I give it an A.

Postscript: I have seen at least three versions of Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks. The one reviewed here is what I believe to be the original "director's cut", and was available on DVD from Anchor Bay. It's been deleted from their catalog, but can still be purchased from Asian Cult Cinema, among other distributors (check e-bay for the best prices).

When I first saw the film in Canadian theaters in the mid 1970's, the version shown substituted Haji's breast-crushing scene with a demo involving cantaloupes.. or maybe grapefruits... or dare I say it, watermelons? Otherwise, it was complete, including all of Haji's explosive finale. Apparently, this alternate cut is out on DVD. If anyone knows where I can get it, please tell me.

A third version was released on VHS tape about two decades ago, and is heavily censored. In this one, virtually all of Haji's scenes (except the original dance number) have been cut, which is the equivalent of editing out all the songs from The Sound of Music. Avoid this version at all costs.

Seriously, Fritz is my absolute best feedback person for my stories. While I always hope that people who read them will send me a word or two about their reactions to them, Fritz always sends me a full critique of each, probably as long as his review of the Harem Keepers (and sometimes I think as long as the stories themselves).

What I particularly love about Fritz's feedback is that he is always very honest and detailed in telling me what he liked and what he didn't. What I don't like about his feeback (hey, Fritz, now it's payback time) is ... his reviews usually are better written than my stories, and find meanings in them that I never knew were there (and may not be there for any other reader).

So keep it up, dear Fritz, and, if need to write a book to review a short story, please go right ahead.

They would hire a woman who thought she had a real job presenting their company to interested clients. Then she would be drugged and have sex with these clients, serving whatever fantasies they had. After she was spent, her "assistant", a pretty young lesbian, would clean her up and put her to bed, after some fondling of her own.

The woman would wake up the next morning, not realizing what had happened to her.

When the clients would grow tired of her, or she became suspicious that something was going on, she would then be sold as a permanent sex slave to one of the clients or kept as a slave for films.

I find myself thinking there's not much in this film that appeals to me, although there are a few scenes I might want to see -- particularly the carpet-munching scene with Dyanne Thorne. Some of the stuff with Haji sounds good, as well, although once she's walking around with an eyeball missing, you've lost me.

Max Thayer was a fun ham to watch in the first film, so part of me is interested in seeing his portrayal of the Kissinger-like character.

Generally speaking, though, I don't think I'll be in a rush to see this movie. I will check it out at some point.

A Canadian: Thank-you for the review of Battlefield Gangbang. It sure sounds like this film is aptly titled. Usually, I'm not a fan of vids in which rape is the primary (often only) form of peril suffered by the female victims. This one seems to add a lot of bondage, which helps, but what I'd give to have a good whipping or electro-torture scene during an interrogation sequence. I mean, this is supposed to be a war story after all. That said, the final execution of the heroines makes Battlefield Gangbang appeal to me enough to purchase it. Did you order it from Video Mayhem? If so, how did you do so? Their check-out page does not enable selection of any country other than the United States.

As for the weird dance scene at the end of the movie, lately I've noticed this sort of thing popping up in all sorts of BDSM material. Bondage sites like this one sell clips which feature interviews with the actresses at the end of the video, usually with the girl admitting how much fun she had being tied up and beaten. Erotic horror clips from a variety of producers close with outtakes which reveal how the effects were done, often showing the models laughing, flubbing their lines, etc. Even the hand-drawn characters in the illustrated stories available here have a disclaimer page in recent releases wherein they reassure us they are only "role playing" (huh?).

So I think your hypothesis most likely is correct: we are being told this is only make-believe. In fact, I've heard that it is now a legal requirement that such disclaimers must be included for all "violent porn". If so, not everyone seems to have got the message. But when cartoon characters have to remind us that what we are looking at isn't real, things are getting seriously fucked-up.

YikYakker: I also noticed Ralphus (or perhaps a close relative who frequents the same stylist) in that Harem Keeper slave auction when I made the frame grabs for my review. I decided not to mention it, but I'm glad someone else noticed. The little guy does get around.

I tend to lean toward the more extreme (often terminal) GIMP material, but also prefer it to have some context. That is, I like it to be part of a story which provides the victim with some background and gives her a reason for getting into jeopardy. Admittedly, this colors my choices…

• Top of the list has to be several of the many custom videos I have commissioned over the past dozen years. These were written by me to cater to my interests alone, so if they don't make the grade, either I don't know what I like or the producer involved has failed me. In either case, I've wasted a big pile of money. Thankfully, about a third of these are good enough for me to keep coming back to them time and time again.
• For those who read my Harem Keeper review, you probably can guess that the original two Ilsa flicks easily qualify. The first one, She Wolf of the SS is wall to wall GIMP action in a reasonably well-made mainstream movie, and Harem Keeper has its merits as well.
• Bloodsucking Freaks, for reasons already mentioned, but especially for the electro-torture scene, the iron tourniquet, and the long haired blonde who gets stretched to death on that weird X-frame device.
• Poor Cecily, which I'm surprised was already selected (by YikYakker). I thought it was a bit of a rarity. All the GIMP scenes are conveniently placed in one part of the movie, and they include one of the best whippings ever committed to film. Too bad it's only available as a poor-quality dupe from VHS tape.
• From ZFX, South of the Border 3, 4, 6 and 7, War Pigs 2 and 3, and Ballista 2 just for Bridgette Bayonne's extended beat-down.
• From Teraz, Fantom Kiler 1, 2 and 3 - but sadly not 4. Mark of the Whip 1 and 2.
• Women in Cellblock 9 because the first half of this movie consists of brutal interrogation scenes involving some really hot victims, and the second half shows them running naked through the jungle until the wonderfully downbeat finale. One of Franco's best.
• K3: Prison of Hell, a relatively recent addition. Andreas Bethmann finally makes a half-decent WIP film, and it's far more extreme than anything from the 1970's.
• Cannibal Ferox, just for watching Zora Kerova hang from her impaled tits.
• The Bushwacker, an obscure roughie from 1968. • Of the many JAV videos in my collection, the one I keep watching is GIGA's Online Heroine Public Execution - Iron Lady, primarily for the extended electro-torture scene at the climax, with the very well endowed Mint Asakura topless and draining half of the Tokyo power grid until she starts sparking and smoking before dying a very sexy death.

A Canadian: Always great to have you reviewing new Japanese titles. And who would have thought the man whose reviews normally take longer to read than the Sunday New York Times would actually be the one with the shorter review of the 2 that got posted here Monday? To quote Blue Velvet, it's a strange world.

In this case, I think I've seen the same movie you reviewed. I've become a big fan of Japan's FA series of movies, even though I swear a lot of times they recycle the same footage in a lot of their war prisoners series. I've got several of their titles and one in particular seems to echo most of the scenes you reviewed. Particularly, the staked out rape scenes are highlights for me. FA movies are full of scenes like that, and most of them are excellent. In fact, they are about the only rape movies I can watch without getting bored and hitting the fast-forward button, unlike the overrated "Slave Island" movies, although I haven't seen nearly as many of you have.

The FA films also are the ones that feature those wonderful electro-torture scenes that people are often asking about. I guess this one didn't have any, but many I've seen have a combination of electro and bondage rape, along with snuff endings, which seems appropriate considering the wartime plots. I need to check out some more; they almost always deliver for me.

Fritz: Dude, that review was just ridiculously long. Probably about 3 times longer than it should have been (and you gave it 3 different grades, which seems somewhat apropos). But you know what? It was still a real entertaining read, even it will be a challenge for many of us to tackle something that lengthy. I really appreciate all the work that went into it; the caps and your clever descriptions made it almost like we were watching the film along with you. I'd seen that film years ago and didn't remember anything GIMP-worthy, although it's very possible it was the heavily censored VHS tape you mentioned. At any rate, I'm still hoping someone tracks down the full breast-crushing sequence somewhere; that would probably be the main reason I would want to check it out.

A few comments on one of the choices:

The Last House on the Left: I know a few of you have pointed this one out. I dunno, I've seen it twice and it left me wanting more both times. The main villain (David Hess) was scary, his female partner was scary and sexy, but there's wasn't much there that turned me on. The bondage was also lame (a boring hands tied in front scene, and brief at that). The one victim was cute but really, the only scene that I liked was the humiliation scene where they force the other chick to piss her pants. Still, I wouldn't mind checking it out again to see if I might have a different reaction this time. I need to make new vidcaps for the rape database so I'll have an excuse to take another look.

BTW, I may be the only GIMPer here to admit this, but I actually liked the remake with Sara Paxton. There could have been more nudity, but the rape scene was decent and I was especially taken with her cute friend (Martha MacIsaac). I enjoyed seeing her tortured. I probably kept about 15-20 minutes of footage from this, which is pretty damn good for a mainstream film.

The movie came from Video Mayhem, although I didn't order it directly. I got it through a Canadian exchange program -- I traded some discs with a friend of mine, and that was one of the movies he sent me.

Nonetheless, ordering from Video Mayhem is pretty easy for people in our country. What you do is send a U.S. postal money order (a money order in U.S. dollars that you buy at the post office, rather than from the bank) for the cost of the disc to Larry at VM, PO Box 394, Arkport, NY 14807. The cost of the shipping is included in the price of the disc. You then send an e-mail to Larry at mayhem50@stny.rr.com to let him know you have sent the money order and the name and code for the movie (or movies) you are purchasing. Naturally, I would also include this information in the envelope with the money order.

I would note that I have never had any problems receiving Larry's discs. All of my purchases from VM have made it through Customs.

Alternately, you can order the movie in Canada, although it will cost you a bit more. The movie can be purchased from aaparadise.com, which ships films out of both Canada and the U.S. In Canada, the discs are shipped out of British Columbia.

So I think your hypothesis most likely is correct: we are being told this is only make-believe. In fact, I've heard that it is now a legal requirement that such disclaimers must be included for all "violent porn". If so, not everyone seems to have got the message. But when cartoon characters have to remind us that what we are looking at isn't real, things are getting seriously fucked-up.

I can't imagine anyone other than maybe Dr. Yuya being worried about the welfare of animated characters.

In any event, I'm OK with material at the end of a movie that reminds the audience the whole thing was just fiction -- if that helps people to get through the night, so be it. Sometimes, I have enjoyed watching the behind the scenes interviews that Attackers includes in some movies, even though I don't know what the actresses are saying.

What's far more troubling to me -- and to others -- is that movies such as the Attackers films have been watered down in recent years. The so-called rape scenes these days usually look more like vanilla sex scenes and the nastiness you might have found in a torture movie such as JBD-068 has pretty much disappeared altogether.

One is called "Intrusion" (thanks to Badger for the title). This flick features a cute housewife who is tied up by an intruder. The masked intruder then does things men might like to do to their wives or girlfriends after they've been tied to the bed.

The other movies may called "Bound and Impaled." It has been many years since I saw this, so I can't be sure. Scenes I can remember include a woman in a nice evening wear dress being forced up a ladder where her gloved hands, in cuffs, are put around a hook. The ladder is then taken away. She dangles there, legs kicking. She is one tempting morsel. The dude in charge eventually rips her dress off and ties her legs.

When I first saw this movie, and I saw that ladder removed, and saw her swinging in full suspension, boy did I come to full attention fast. That's when I realized I LOVE watching women being suspended.

I'm talking full suspension, legs dangling, heels, and they struggle and they're pretty. You'd do them even if they weren't tied up. And they don't cooperate.

Another scene has a woman strung up by a set of wooden basement stairs while a guy smokes a cigar. Another has a woman's hands bound behind her. She is forced to lay down on her back. Her ankles are hooked up to either side of her, and while you can't see it, the guy whips her privates and she jerks in lovely fashion.

Sigh. The good old days.

The drowning from Invisible Maniac, the Orgasmagoria clips Stranger Next Door and Terminated (especially the second victim), Olaf Nuclear Winter's Feathered Death and Peachy Keen's Crazy Family (the straight porn in that one is HOT!). There are a few photosets that will do it too, with Monique in the chair being the primary one. Several GIMP-worthy scenes of interest, most notably the scene where Paula Warner gets bound, her nightgown ripped open, and hot wax poured on her (wax not shown but she screams most satisfyingly). OMG, Fatal Pulse!!!! The electrocution of the jogger is sooooo. Damn. Hot!!!!! Love it, love it, love it!

As far as beatings go, I have a couple of Giga films that are exquisite in that regard. In one, the villain has a boxing glove that gets bigger and bigger, and the blows to the girl's mid-section harder and harder. Loads of fun!

chase: Bound and Impaled sounds like one of the old HOM Bondage Classics loops. The title is familiar, and the description sounds very much like what Blakemore/Whitman did in the early days of HOM. I may be able to track that one down for you and put it up at the top of the site in the near future.

Hunter is cute and after sampling a dozen or so PKF movies, I'm a fan. I have a lot of confidence ordering from your company because I know that more often than not, you deliver the goods.

I know the death fetish turns some people off; I'm not particularly into seeing the women die at the end, but if you deliberately stay away from PKF just because of that, you don't know what you're missing. If you don't like seeing them die, just enjoy the buildup before the actual death scenes and then press STOP. Serious guys, this guy is good. Take a chance and check out his stuff. A good title to start with is a film I reviewed, Basement Schoolgirl, or there's several others that feature GIMP-worthy material.

Back in the VHS days, at a local video rental store (probably Applause, remember them?) I saw a box for a movie and I can't remember the name of it, but the cover was an illustration as opposed to a photo, and the image was a beautiful blonde woman, with a man behind her with his hand clamped over her mouth, and his other hand reaching around and opening up her blouse, exposing two huge, ripe breasts.

I also occasionally re-watch the Sex and Submission episode featuring Stacy Burke and Big Daddy Brady, wherein Big Daddy Brady gets too rough, as well as the Fucking Dungeon episode featuring Aurora Snow and "Master Jay," which also goes a bit too rough in my estimation. But in both cases the action is only so rough I think Big Daddy Brady and "Master Jay" are dicks, and not so rough that I won't watch it again and again.

I wish there was a Delila Darling clip that pushed her limits, and although Steve whacking her in the face with a flogger in a memorable Powershotz scene comes close, flogging doesn't do that much for me. A while back, Brevity and I went to the Hamstercage Arms to share a few pints. We actually had a lot in common, but turns out Brevity can't hold his liquor. Things got ugly, words were exchanged, and we haven't spoken since. I guess that feud has gone on long enough. I promise to give Brevity a ring and see if I can patch things up.

As for your questions about my poll selections:

Fantom Kiler 1 has a great opening scene in which Magda Szymborska is hunted down and terrorized by the killer before being stabbed two dozen times in the crotch. Later, a blonde in cut-offs and a tiny tank top is menaced after her car breaks down before being killed (off camera). Katarzyna Zelnik, naked and glistening with sweat, is threatened with a chisel until it is repeatedly rammed up her pussy. There's also a brief scene of a nude girl with one leg tied to a tree and the other to a car bumper. She is stretched and torn in two.

Fantom Kiler 3 also has a great opening scene with Eliza Borecka taking bondage pictures of herself before being attacked by the killer, clamped to her Volkswagen (in a pretty ineffective form of restraint), then knife tortured and killed. A brunette (Szymborska again) has her leg crushed in a car door before briefly escaping, getting chased through a cemetery then stabbed to death and splayed out on the hood of her 280z. At the conclusion, Zelnik (who was pretending to be the Fantom Kiler) is caught by the real deal and is brutally beaten before being tied down, covered with gas, then left with a burning candle dangling above her from a string clamped in her teeth. She drops it of course, but sadly the scene cuts away just as we hear the fwoosh of spreading flames.

Granted, Fantom Kiler 1 and 3 are not as good as 2, but I still enjoy them because the peril scenes are nicely drawn out, and because the female victims are not only stunning, but always naked except for their heels. The bondage, what there is of it, is pitiful and there's no m/f rape, but for me, the GIMP scenes in the first three installments always do the trick. FK4 for some reason just didn't work as well for me. I did enjoy watching it, but the poll asked for films or scenes we keep coming back to, and I don't watch this one nearly as often as the other three.

The first half of The Bushwhacker is abysmal. If you decide to watch this, save your sanity and skip to the point where the slim brunette (not the chunky dyke) is captured by the bushwhacker and marched topless through the countryside until she is strung up, whipped, beaten, cut, branded and finally killed. Things get even worse for the featured blonde, who is staked out and debreasted.

The Bushwhacker won't appeal to everyone, especially to younger GIMPers who can't remember that white gogo boots and teased hair were once considered sexy. Also, 75% of this movie involves nothing more than its cast walking around aimlessly while their would-be assailant lurks in the bushes. Fortunately, the remaining 25% is GIMP material (plus a five minute lesbian necro scene). For fans of "roughies" from the 60's, it's worth seeking out. Be careful if you decide to purchase it. Something Weird made a big deal about finding a print of this "lost film" and was the first company to release it two years ago. However, the copy available from Amazon is from a different distributor and has a more complete version of the breast torture scene.

If you have fifty bucks burning a hole in your pocket, you can buy Online Heroine Public Execution - Iron Lady directly from the GIGA site. The electro scene is the longest I've come across and the star is one of the most enticing GIGA heroines ever. If you decide to buy it, don't let the foreign billing service scare you away. It works pretty well if you have your browser's translate option activated, and in the end it leads you directly to a (very big) direct download (no waiting around for a DVD).

After writing this, I realize I probably should post reviews for these videos, and once I recover from my Harem Keeper ordeal, I'll see what I can do. I could also make highlight clips available for download, but it seems people don't exchange video material on the GIMP. Is that correct? Copyright concerns perhaps?

That's from Eaten Alive (aka Emerald Jungle, among other titles). The woman who gets the machete mastectomy is played by Paola Senatore who is a well known Italian actress. Not only are the girls dismembered, they are raped by evil cultists just before being caught by the cannibals. Unfortunately, nothing much happens to Janet Agren, the beautiful blonde star. In fact, aside from this one bit of savagery, the movie is pretty tame. For those who do enjoy gut-munching flicks like these, be sure to seek out Emmanuelle and the Last Cannibals, and Cannibal Holocaust 1 and 2. All feature some pretty brutal treatment of their female cast.

Jim: I have quite a few Eyewitness videos, both on VHS and downloaded from their PPV site. 90% of their material is either hangings or stranglings with the victim on the floor, hands cuffed behind her. Virtually all the films show the girl restrained throughout the video. Technically, the vids are quite good: well shot and edited, believably acted by good-looking girls (you can see the actresses at their website), and with nice touches like music and make-up fx. There's usually a good lead-in, sometimes involving the humiliation or torture of the victim.

A few Eyewitness titles show other forms of asphyx. There's at least one gassing clip and another one wherein a girl is drowned while bound to a wooden plank which is repeatedly tilted into a tank of water. The latter one is very good as I recall. The best thing of their's I have is Deadly Laundry, a full length video available only on tape. Most of the company's business comes from site memberships which offer weekly photosets. They rarely release videos, and haven't even bothered to convert their full-length offerings to DVD.

Sloth: The Dark Fetish Yellowpages site has been around for at least ten years and provides links to hundreds of fetish sites, all nicely organized into useful categories. It's run by an artist named Templar, who hosts a number of sites which might be of interest to GIMPers. This one in particular is worth a look. Over the years, the yellow pages site has alerted me to some very interesting finds, but too many of the newer links point to Youtube videos.

EWP, as they're known, make great photosets and good movies, but they are their own worst enemy. They won't allow even a few sample pictures on various forums, but they don't sell specific photosets. They've even stopped showing previews. You used to be able to buy the movies directly from their site, but I wouldn't be surprised if they took that away, too. Dumb asses.

I want to echo what Ralphus said about JohnM and Peachy Keen Films. John is very cool. He's gone on file-sharing forums and actually TALKED to the sharers. The result is that they don't share his films for at least three years, and anyone who does gets a talking-to by the SHARERS. That's respect.

If you don't like snuff, several of the Hogtie films have been split in 2, with plenty of pain and degradation in the first half, but all the killing in the second half.

I listed Crazy Family as one of my go-to films, but other PKF goodies that get me off are Gentleman Strangler, The Lawyer and The Bodyguard (I showed this to a friend not at all into snuff and he was blown away by the blocking) and Tenage Idol. By all rights, I shouldn't like Webcam Massacre -- the girls are dressed as they are shot, and many are still dressed when they're killed, and all the sex is necro, and most don't moan as they're dying -- but in spite of all that, it's still a reliable turn-on.

The shorter answer is aaparadise only appears to have a few fa-pro titles that include GIMP material, so you may have already found the relevant movies.

As a side note, it appears aaparadise.com and javparadise.com have run into some hassles with government about GIMP material, so they only tend to advertise some movies at certain hours (evenings and weekends, when the government bureaucrats aren't working). However, if you wish to search for GIMP titles that are available at aaparadise.com, with full box covers, you should check this site, Javmag, to get the code. Vampire Happening is a weird movie with a terrific (but brief) rack scene. But take a look at this promotional poster from back in the day in my URL. The girl that appears to be suspended from a wall or ceiling is actually the girl from the rack scene! I can assure you she appears in a horizontal position in the movie. Guess they couldn't fit her on the picture in that position, so they just rotated the image to stand her up.

Since we're on the topic, here's a funny story from the other day. I was at a neighborhood bar having a few pints (I'm off work for a couple of weeks) and was reading a book in the outdoor cafe. Anyway, I got chatting to these two older ladies at a table near mine, about books and movies that have been made from books. One of the ladies said she's never seen a movie that lived up to the book.

I told her I could think of a few examples of film adaptations that were successful, and mentioned A Clockwork Orange as an example of a film that I thought surpassed the novel.

Well, the other older lady at the nearby table went white. Apparently, some guy had once taken her to see the movie on a date, and she thought it was an extremely disgusting film (her description of the date almost reminded me of the Cybill Shepherd character being taken to the porno film in the movie, Taxi Driver). We all laughed at her story and I told her I didn't think A Clockwork Orange was much of a "date movie."

However, I agree that there is a difference in the way actors respond in mainstream movies and BDSM/rape/snuff/etc specialty movies. Personally, I would say that is primarily because mainstream movies are simulated violence and simulated sex, whereas specialty movies are frequently real violence and real sex. I don't mean real violence as in being beaten to a pulp, but certainly real violence as in inflicting actual pain. But absolutely real sex, even going so far as real rough sex. Legally, I think there is a line there that specialty producers are loath to cross for fear of prosecution.

But honestly, if you were watching a specialty clip, and you could tell there was actually sexual penetration and abuse, and real pain and violence being inflicted, and the actor's responses were completely authentic and realistic--and assuming it wasn't in Irreversible territory--aside from being the most awesome GIMP production ever, wouldn't you wonder, maybe, if it weren't really real? (But of course, that is what makes it so awesome.) Now imagine what the pornography censorship crowd would think. And do.

Mainstream actors are free to plumb the depths of despair and agony in rape/torture/murder scenes. With very few exceptions, the scenes are lamentably brief and the actors only have to maintain that level of energy for a limited time. Plus, a well-timed cut-away can enhance the scene greatly, leaving the way the scene plays out to the twisted and fervent imagination of the viewer--an audience I think I am addressing right now. Think about the scenes in Eyes of a Stranger and the recently discussed Don't Answer the Phone, where the action continued after the cut-away.

You do make a great point, though, that sometimes a carefully crafted (mainstream) fantasy can be more satisfying than reality. I guess it boils down to what is most satisfying to you. I like them both, for different reasons. As I mentioned previously, though, my go-to GIMP scenes right now tend to be specialty clips as opposed to mainstream clips.

Also, as you mentioned, the mainstream films generally work from more polished scripts and with real actors (although, in the case of some B movies ...). So that probably helps.

Regarding my own viewing experiences, though, I'm not prepared to make sweeping generalizations about mainstream over porn (which was what I assume you mean by home-made). I've seen some great stuff in mainstream, and some mainstream rape scenes that were awful (example: The Hills Have Eyes 2). Similarly, I have seen some great rape scenes in porn and some stuff that sucks.

In my recent response to the poll question, I included scenes from both mainstream and porn movies. Both worlds have produced stuff that has hit the mark.

One of the reasons the ZFX movies have come up so many times among the favorites we go back to is that Rick was able to create at least some semblance of a plot in his movies while at the same time not skimping on the graphic sex scenes. Clearly, a plot-driven mainstream movie that has a great scene can be outstanding. But unless we capture those few minutes on a compilation tape, we are left to have to watch the entire movie up to that point or to skip through to the good stuff.

Beyond frequently being waaay over-lit, what keeps me from spending more money on rape or bondage porn is that so much has no story-line whatsoever. Nothing turns me away faster than when a movie opens with the victim already tied, gagged and naked. I realize that to do more would take a bit more time and money. But for me, it wouldn't take much context to get me interested.

On a side note, has anyone every subscribed to the Forced4Sex.com website? (which I do like because I just love Asian women :).....

Ralphus: Appreciate the pointers to those two titles, but I wasn't able to locate either one at a NA JAV vendor site. Heck, I couldn't even find them at the fa-pro home page, but then again, my Japanese is a little rusty (sigh). As for Video Mayhem - I'm not sure how they are able to sell anything without the search function working. It seems the only way to browse their videos is by the date they were added to the catalog - not very helpful.

Regarding The Bushwhacker, think carefully before you buy the more complete version from Amazon if you already have the Something Weird DVD. As far as I can tell, the difference between the two involves only the extra ten seconds depicting the blonde's breast being cut off and eaten by the wacko in the coonskin cap. For me, that over-the-top scene was the highlight of the film, so it was worth spending another $15 to watch it. But if you're satisfied with just seeing the aftermath, as is the case in the SW version, there's not much reason to buy the damn thing twice.

As for Online Heroine Public Execution - Iron Lady… okay, I can take a hint. I'll make this one the subject of my next review. GIGA does not do a very good job capturing the highlights of their videos, either in the screen grabs or the virtually unintelligible descriptions. To make matters worse, the sample clips rarely stream smoothly.

(Spoiler -->) Not only does Raquel Merino make a great looking victim, she also takes some serious abuse: whipping, AOH suspension, dunking, and ultimately monster food, all without wearing a stitch of clothing. I don't really have a preference for mainstream, porn or internet fetish clips - I have great examples of all three in my collection - but the zero-budget home grown material frequently sacrifices plot, character development and so on in the interest of just showing the action. This is exactly what a lot of folks want, and it keeps production costs down, so I understand why it's so prevalent. But for me, even a basic story which identifies the girl and explains how she got into the mess she's in adds so much to a video.

In the end, I was only able to find three GIMP fa-pro vids at aaparadise and I ordered them all. Both these sites have so many titles available and poor search facilities, so if there's anything else buried there, it's unlikely that I'll find it.

I think you found aaparadise's entire catalogue of fa-pro titles with a GIMP theme. I did a similar search and only came up with about three titles, including the one I have already reviewed. So I feel pretty confident we're talking about the same movies. You'll have to let us know if the other two are worth seeing.

In mainstream, the two that ALWAYS work are the rape scene in Act of Vengeance with Jo Ann Harris (perhaps the best mainstream rape scene ever) and Fair Game. Both victims are hot, natural, and believable. As far as modern mainstream, I liked Last House on the Left, Sara Paxton played the victim fairly convincingly. But the first Hills Have Eyes remake with Emile De Ravin, she is such a petite helpless victim rings the bell

In Porn, I like the electro scene in Industrial Spy with Yuri Wakabashi, she really pulls it off and Azumi Mizishima'a entire performance in Giga TBB-50 is hot.

On ZFX, I love the concept, but Rick always seemed to introduce something to lessen the experience for me. I liked the first two Miss Ballista's but the bowl on Lisa's head during the electro scene reduced the pleasure in number two. Rick always seemed to use some funky mask or cover the face of his victims at the most inopportune times. While I enjoyed many of his flicks, they never were quite the home runs they could have been. Nothing personal, it just wasn't my thing.

Allison Parish was by far my favorite ZFX victim, I loved her in Highway to Hell. She was hot, petite, and a decent actress. Great photo's today, Lisa Kinkaid had better movies, but Allison was it in my book

As far as the Captive factory girls stuff, Chain Gang Girls was the only flick from those productions that was a good value, I'll try to review it sometime. I picked up "Girl in Captivity 2" And it was just OK, a couple of good scenes but not worth retail.

Also in mainstream, I rented "The Killer Inside Me" last night and it was a major disappointment. I like beat-downs, and while both Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson were beaten severely neither scene was memorable. The Olga Kurylenko flick I referred to earlier was far better.

As far as mainstream rape scenes as opposed to commercial ones, I understand where you're coming from. In some cases, the producers of hardcore films will deliberately tone down the viciousness of a "rape scene" so that there is absolutely no implication that any kind of illegal activity is occurring, simply because of the political climate that exists in this country. Therefore, even the bondage sex you see in sites like Sex and Submission and others of their ilk is still clearly consensual, right down to the woman cumming at the end and the movie ending with a "back stage scene" of the actor and actress embracing in the end and telling the interviewer how much she loved it.

You may or may not remember Forbidden Video. They made their big splash on the Internet by making a film called After School Surprise, in which a bound and gagged Gauge gets tied to a bed and raped, an outstanding hardcore scene that gave promise to more of the same from that company. And then very quickly, their movies became lighter, less forceful, even more playful. The owner used to post here and he said he did it because he was afraid of being prosecuted by the Bush Gestapo Squad. Eventually, he quit making new movies at all.

Same thing happened with the paysite Brutal Violence. After they made their turnaround, their sex scenes were still hardcore, but suddenly with a comic touch so no one would mistake them for real rapes. In fact, the site even changed their name to "Funny BDSM" with disastrous results, and I know because I was a member at the time it happened and got screwed by paying for 11 of the 12 months with the new "lighter, funnier" concept.

Mainstream movies can go harder and more violent on rape scenes because it is generally assumed that they are making a narrative story and not necessarily something designed to titillate the viewer. Even so, when was the last time you saw a mainstream film with a really good rape scene, complete with exploitative nudity? By and large, those are also fading from the marketplace because the producers been convinced that violence against women will not sell. Maybe they're right, but this small niche of the population loves it.

Strangely, little Ralphus had a completely different take on the electro scenes in that movie. After I posted my review of that film back in September 2005, here is what Ralphus had to say:

I didn't believe they were shocking her for a second. Maybe I've been too spoiled by Rick's later work, and maybe my standards are too high, but the illusion was blown for me when I saw what they were using. She gave it her best shot, though.

Actually, they could have used the curling irons to better effect if they had just plugged them in and tortured her that way, with heat. That might have worked better. One of my favorite scenes in a ZFX movie was in Seed, when Lisa Kinkaid was tied to the bed and Penelope Pace uses a curling iron against her skin as a torture device. I linked a still from that above.

So anyway, getting back to this movie, the first and third shock scenes didn't work for me, and the second, with the electro pads on her ass, at least looked real, but I would have preferred to see her tied face up so we could have seen her reactions. And shocking someone's ass doesn't do much for me, anyway. On her tits would have been better.

Yeah, I can’t say the electro scene thrilled me either, but I enjoyed the suspension and whipping scenes. (Yes, it’s true, I recently saw Ballista 2, my very first ZFX flick). The Candles Room is another site I had not heard of before. This one has no search engine whatsoever, but at least the owner attempts to categorize the videos by putting related ones in different "rooms". So if you are looking for more intense scenes, the red room is for you. If you are looking for classic pinku eigu, they are in the pink room (natch). A video's product number also confirms what category it belongs to, and the whole arcane scheme is described for newbies on the main page.

That said, the rooms still list hundreds of DVDs, leaving the buyer to select based on tiny, often vague cover shots. Fortunately, by clicking on a single cover, a more detailed link may present a brief description of the primary content. By clicking on the content, you can list all the other catalog items with the same subject. I was lucky enough to find one of the few electro-shock videos, and this led me to all the others in stock. By no means an ideal system, but still better than needing to know the product code before searching.

Unfortunately, The Candles Room uses the same snail mail ordering system as Video Mayhem, so I'll really need to want something of theirs badly before I go to the trouble of sending out bank drafts.
