There has been a bootleg version of the movie floating around for years that featured extra bonus footage, but from what I heard, none of the missing footage included any bondage scenes, unfortunately. I would assume that's the case here with the Director's Cut, but I haven't seen it so I can't be sure.

I have seen Perils of Gwen several times. I'm afraid I have to agree with Ralphus. However there is probably more bondage, and certainly more inventive bondage, than any other mainstream film I can think of.

Some of the wildest bondage in the film is of background babes, seen briefly as the main players walk through several scenes. There was one girl tied to a wheel spread-eagled and some suspension as I recall. The trouble is these were shown only very briefly. The only bondage in a mainstream flick as inventive was that seen (even more briefly) during a scene from "The Cell" - an even bigger dissapointment (esp. since Jo Lo was never bound)!

Still, I suggest Gimpers check out "Perils" for some interesting ideas. I wouldn't purchase it, as it really is a particularly silly action flick, but if you can rent it - it would be worth a look. If anyone does and there is extra bondage in the bonus features, let us know and it might move from the "rent" to the "purchase" column.

First, these videos have a look to them that is almost unique but is hard to verbalize. Maybe it's the lighting, the German language, the film sets, whatever. The models are not typically experienced models. Most of them are performing for the first time in bondage. I often see images of models that I have worked with taken by professional glamour and fine art photographers....its amazing what a pro can do.....but it isn't reality. A great storyline -- Although I would never advocate this in real life, for entertainment purposes I like to see a stalking, a kidnap, date rape, theft with retribution, setup (i.e. boyfriend or husband has friend rape girlfriend or wife) or something of that sort as a prelude to lengthly, simple, and effective bondage done with many interesting ties like a chair tie, hogtie, legs elevated over head, frogtie, and spread-eagled. Utilizing rope, plastic ties, handcuffs, duct tape, and cloth. The bondage should be not laboring greatly as anything that takes too long gets boring and takes away from the final outcome, i.e. a good fuck.

2.) A female who is attractive to me -- usually tanned with dark hair, enough boobs to cup with hand, nice legs and feet, usually brown eyes, medium height. She is dressed nicely -- a nice skirt, and hose. Either she is dressed for work or a hot date. Then the clothes are effectively torn, cut or discarded in an interesting manner. Torn pantyhose with the cotton panel torn or cut out is very interesting.

3.) Great reactions by the female while being bound and eventual rape. For entertainment purposes only, she is expected to plead, beg, and cry. If her makeup is messed up, so much the better. She should be loud enough that a gag is warranted.

4.) Great camera work -- want to see every inch of her body eventually nude with closeups of her cunt while insertions take place, closeups of her face while crying or pleading, closeups of feet and other significant areas.

5.) Although not in real life, in a dvd, rape fantasy done right with prolonged bondage and verbal taunts. With very little time needed to tie and untie. And not be so elaborate that it takes away from the ensuing sex that will develop.

Those are my preliminary thought on a good flick. Need more ideas gang -- let's flood this one! Grey.

1) I know Grey wanted us to move beyond the obvious about the looks and sex appeal of the model/actress, but I have to emphasize this as point number one. The victim has to be attractive. If I don't find her attractive, I won't appreciate the movie to the same extent. Mika Siina (Attackers #79) and Amber Bliss (The Jackbooth Job) are two examples of actresses who gave great performances but didn't do much for me in the looks department, therefore I wasn't as excited as others about their movies.

2) I like my movie to have a convincing rape scene and a convincing whipping scene. As well, I really like scenes where a bound woman is forcibly fucked with a vibrator, particularly a loud vibrator where I can hear it grinding away. On the other hand, scenes with elaborate rope play and those with clothespins generally don't do much for me.

3) With all due respect to any Ilsa enthusiasts out there, I don't care for scenes with lots of blood.

4) I like to see a real focus on the humiliation of the victim. In my view, the Japanese do this the best. A great example, which I have mentioned before, is the scene in A Beast Legend (IESP-003) where pretty school teacher Miyuki Hourai is forced to get up on a chair and do a slow, reluctant strip tease in front of her class of students.

5) I think the pace of a movie is really important. I like a movie that moves quickly from one scene to another. South of the Border 4 is a great example -- it goes pretty quickly from one scene of torment to the next, without lingering (except for the scene in the middle of the movie with Kelly McKay and Rick Masters, which was a tad too long). I suspect Ralphus and DoppleM might not appreciate me saying this, but one of the problems that Japanese director Randa Mai has in his movies is that he tends to let some scenes drag on forever. His whipping scenes, for example, would generally be more effective if he picked up the tempo a little bit. There often seem to be long pauses between each crack of the whip, and I find the pauses tend to dilute the effectiveness of the scene. By contrast, the much shorter and very effective whipping of Lisa Kinkaid in Ballista 2 is close to perfection.

6) The villain(s) must be male, and I tend to prefer more than one.

All four women are taken to the living room where they are forced to kiss, strip, lick and fuck each other. The men take turns fucking the women so no-one feels left out.

Add tight bondage, whipping, asphyxiation (fatal or not, as your whim takes you) and you could have a really hot video.

Probably too expensive (4 women of the right ages, all willing to do the stuff above, plus male actors, plus finding a home where it could all be shot), but it's a fantasy that's fun to imagine!

I wonder if that's ever been done in a bondage scenario? It wouldn't surprise me if PD over at Insex would have attempted it, especially with the harem of freakgirls he worked with. I don't personally don't know his work well enough to say, though.

I know ZFX had Lisa Kinkaid hooked up for electric shock in Whiplash 4 where Rick ran one of the wires to her bellybutton ring, which I thought was a novel idea.

Okay, getting to the poll, what makes a great DVD?

1) Well, I know they said BESIDES the sex appeal of the model, but I really have to start with that as my number one point, too. You have to start with someone who's going to do it for me, ring my bell, churn my cream, use whatever euphemism you want...she has to be attractive. Casting is everything. If I don't like the girl, chances are very good I won't think much of the video. If she's hot, I'll watch her in whatever scenario you dream up. It's really that simple.

For instance, in the recent Powershotz movie that Grey just reviewed, I would watch the first three-quarters with curvy blonde Alex Del Monacco. In the last section with the plain Jane brown-haired girl in glasses (Andi)...well, that's probably fast-forward material for me. As always, YMMV.

2) The acting needs to be believable. The girl should be scared, crying, screaming in pain...whatever the role calls for. If I believe her, it's going to help the fantasy work for me. If I can tell she's faking it, I'll lose interest fast. Almost as important is the role of the villain. If he's enthusiastic about what he's doing, a lot of the joy of his performance is going to be infectious. Face it, we would all love to play the role of the bad guy tormenting the innocent victim. He is representing us. If he's having a good time whipping or shocking or raping that poor, sweet victim, then we'll have a good time, too.

3) I want to see the girl tied up, and that's why it's real important for the cameraman to give us an eyeful...I want to see her bound and helpless from every angle. Dan Hawke is very good at this, especially after he leaves the scene and lets her suffer in bondage all by herself. He gets his camera out and shows us just what we want to see...and then some. My favorite parts of a ZFX scene are when Rick goes handheld and gets right up close on the victim and lets his camera molest her body. Give us a full-frame close-up of her face, eyes pleading, mouth gagged...that's a huge turn-on. Check out the still I linked above for an example.

4) Sexual situations. Whether there's real rape, simulated rape, or even the threat of rape, it's going to enhance the experience for me. I think it was our old friend Hail who said that bondage is all about sex for him, and when it all comes down to it, I feel the exact same way. Bondage is often foreplay anyway...we're just having fun with her so we can use her later. Even if we don't ultimately get to see it, we can enjoy threatening her and watch her react while she's helplessly bound.

While relatively tame in terms of actual physical content, Mia's Abduction from Powershotz was nonetheless one of the most exhilarating movies I've seen in quite a while, and it's because of the brilliant sexual tension between the masked villain and sweet victim Mia. Every time he would tell her what he intended to do to her, her frightened, crying reactions made it work perfectly. Likewise the scenes between Amber Bliss and Jon O'Brien in ZFX's The Jackbooth Job. It's a good example of how important dialogue can be in terms of making a movie great.

Okay, that's enough for tonight. Let's get some more feedback from other GIMPers. What factors make a great DVD for you? You don't have to write a book, but let's hear a few opinions.

Additional thoughts on the excellent DVD concept -- the theme of the DVD has to have a dark feel to it -- setting like warehouses, woods, dingy appartment are good. Also music conveying a dark side. Many of the B movies that have bondage in it knew how it worked. When it all comes together -- the captive is so scared that she could pee all over herself. And the tears flow and the cheeks blush, and mascara runs. The gag is really useful as it is really needed to keep the noise level down. Just wanted to let everyone know that you can download the individual scenes from the much discussed Powershotz release "Silver Nightmares/Duct Tape Dilemma" from the powershotz clip site. The link above has a listing of all of Alex del Monacco's scenes in PZV110 and from other movies. Being the AOH fiend that I am, I only downloaded the shower scene. I thought it was ok, but like the vast majority of other studios'/sites' work, they cant compare with ZFX's combination of model looks/violence/torture/rape.

We've discussed what makes a great vid on this board a few times. For me, a hot model and hot action tops the list, along with good pacing (aka no boring moments -- no overly long, padded, redundant, FF-button begging scenes so the DVD box can say 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes where the movie edited to that might actually be good). Then there's interesting locations/sets, good cinematography (camera placement, angles, use of lighting), and if there's sound: good sound, good dialog, good music track that actually works and not just thrown on there.

Story vs no story: I like story. But while I personally like somewhat overcomplicated or developed ideas, a girl in merciless peril vid doesn't have to be overly complicated. Just some idea of character roles is fine. She's a reporter, he's a politician, she's trying to uncover a story on him, he's not happy about it and when he catches her snooping around, he lets her know in girl in merciless peril ways. Or she's the politician, and while working on a speech, a fake volunteer for her campaign but really from her rival's side drugs her coffee, or chloroforms her, she goes out like a light, he and maybe another guy strip her and take photos, then wake her up, give her considerably more girl in merciless peril treatment, more photos and video taken, and then they make her agree to drop out of the race (blackmailed with photos/video exposure on web) cause her rival is ruthlessly anti-porn while she champions the 1st amendment and thinks adults should be able to decide for themselves what they can watch. So she drops out of the race, but wins the election anyway as she gets the GIMP vote! You know, simple stuff like that.

Firstly, a gorgeous victim, of course. Her looks will vary according to individual taste - for me she'd be 18-23, unsuspecting WASP with long blonde hair, a tidy ass and full, firm breasts.

Last night, I watched Training Cadet Elizabeth, which stars Elizabeth Watson and is one of the movies now available at boundanddelivered.com. The movie had some fine moments. In particular, I liked the part where Elizabeth was tied to the front hood of her car and was being hosed with the freezing-cold water. Elizabeth did some great yelling each time she got sprayed and I thought that sequence was really well done.

However, I had a problem with the overall setup to the action. My problem was that Elizabeth and the other women in the movie all appeared as volunteers for the boot-camp-style training and discipline. This was a huge setback for me, as a viewer. To enjoy a woman in a perilous situation, it is important to me that the woman appears to have been abducted and is there against her will. I'm sure many viewers in your country feel the same way.

I have seen one other Bondage Barrix movie, Snapshot, where the woman was taken captive and then tortured, so I know you don't have moral objections to this type of scenario. For any upcoming movies, I would recommend that the women you abuse should always appear to be in those situations against their own choosing.

First off let me thank you for taking your time to offer feedback about a barrix movie. The dvd you mentioned "training of Cadet Elizabeth" was filmed well over two years ago. Elizabeth a large breasted red head was great to work with and very sexy. In a recently posted review, I said the ZFX classic, Squealer, is the best movie I have seen so far this year and that still stands. However, that movie was shot some 14 years ago.

In terms of recently produced stuff, there ain't much that's jumping out at me. One of the new Attackers movies, Attackers #86, with Rei Shinobu is good (see cover art in my URL). It has a pretty victim, and it includes bondage scenes and a rape scene.

In the mainstream movies, Wolf Creek has its moments, particularly the scenes where an attractive woman is trapped (she is linked to a wooden post in a shed, with her hands bound behind the post) and the movie's psycho villain is threatening to rape her.

I haven't been able to access the June archives for some reason so I don't know if the following movie was discussed, but anyway I saw that Ralphus was recently posting lots of stills from Powershotz's PZV110. I don't have that one, but I do have Powershotz's PZV111. All of the girls are incredibly cute on that one.

My favorites are Beth, and the one at the end who is spread eagled on the table. I think this year, I've seen one Dan Hawke movie, 2 ZFX, one Slave Labor vid (I'm working on the review when I get spare time), 3 Powershotz and a handful of Japanese. That's probably about it. The two best I wrote reviews for, and those would be Mia's Abduction from Powershotz and The Jackbooth Job from ZFX. I seriously doubt anything will beat Jackbooth in my mind, but Video Mayhem has some tasty-looking Japanese titles I would love to see. Check out this box for one of their new releases, for instance (above). Those Japanese are brutal! I love it!

On the Customs issue, I can't speak for those in the U.K., but Steve is definitely right about the situation in Canada. It is stupid. Despite what some people in the U.S. might think, the censorship that continues in Canada isn't fuelled by religious fundamentalism. Canadians tend to frown on politicians and governments that seem too religious. Instead, the laws against violent pornography are leftover from the days when censorship ran wild in Canada, particularly in the province of Ontario where I live. It wasn't that many years ago that even vanilla porn was being heavily cut so that there were no scenes of penetration or oral sex. A typical visitor to a U.S. hotel could watch dirty movies that were far more graphic than anything legitimately available in Ontario.

Fortunately, we've come a long way from that period (which ended about 10 to 12 years ago). These days, we've got uncut gangbang movies, bukkake, etc., and there are more stores selling and renting legitimate (i.e., not pirated) bondage movies, including ZFX and Dan Hawke. And they don't appear to be getting hassled by the government. As well, we have the Saveonav.com site, which sells pirated Japanese DVDs from within Canada.

The problem at the border rests with Canada's outdated "obscenity" laws, and a Customs bureaucracy that likes to devote time to confiscating and "carefully reviewing" bondage movies. As Steve suggested, it's rewarding work to them. It's probably a lot more fun than doing something useful like searching for illegal handguns (which seem to regularly make their way across the border).

The prudish US environment continues to get worse...We lost our merchant account (that little thing that allows websites to accept credit cards) last week due to new VISA content regulations (which the bank conveniently forgot to tell us about.) "White House Trying to End Porn" 14 July

All week our websites have been only able to accept credit-card transactions some of the time. Why? Because our merchant account, through Woodforest Bank (that's how we run Visa and Mastercard transactions) dumped us without warning, citing content that "should not be" on our sites. This content is chloroform and gun play. Even after removing that stuff, they said they would not take us back -- they are not dealing with bondage anymore, period. And they also had the gall to blacklist us in an attempt to make it impossible for us to get a new merchant processor, which would effectively shut us down for good.

Visa was coming down on their merchant banks, like Woodforest, and issued new content rules (which we never rec'd a copy of). Why is Visa doiing this, and issuing banks $25,000 fines for any hint of non-compliance? Answer: pressure from the George W. Bush adminstration. Our dear president owes the religious right for helping him win the last two elections, and he's paying them back by making it very difficult for pornographers to do business in the USA. Not through legislation, but through pressure tactics.

It all started out slowly when he first took office and Visa suddenly made all adult industry companies shell out $1,000/year just to stay in business. Mastercard suin followed suit, demanding an additional $750 to take their card.

A lot of little guys disappeared in 2001. And now, there are only a handful of US banks that deal with adult producers at all, and then only if you generate over $100,000/month. Therefore, like everyone else that's far, far away from that mark, our new bank is offshore. Read: Nearly all porn money is now handled by foreign banks. Also Read: George W. Bush is sending billions of dollars of US money and business overseas.

Don't think it will stop here. If you like the freedom of internet porn, stop voting for the GOP. If this ball keeps rolling like it is, the only thing you'll be able to read on the internet is the Bible. And even that will surely be edited by the president.

LOL. The issue was probably more Just Jaeckin (yes, that IS his real name, apparently -- I believe it is pronounced "Jooost Jaw-kawn") on his way out of films. After making a splash with the original Emmanuelle, for the next 10 years he made 7 more films, most with strong sexual themes. Few did any good at the box office, and I think Gwendoline went straight to video. It was his last picture, and, going straight to video, was obviously a box office thud (much like JJ's "Lady Chatterly's Lover", an amazingly boring piece of work considering the "classicness" of the source).

BTW, I presume just about EVERYONE here agreeing with the above comments about "no mainstream bondage movies" has apparently totally forgotten "The Story of O" -- which WAS a mainstream film with (obviously) an exceedingly strong bondage theme and DID get major release -- it was before films that were "X" couldn't get into mainstream theatres, and it was in mainstream theatres alright. I recall seeing it in a theatre that was in the middle of a major local mall -- not an arthouse, but a 4-plex. This was Jaeckin's second film, his followup to Emmanuelle.

The rest of his films did poorly in America, playing mostly in art houses and/or at 2am on Skinimax or Showitime. I recall "The Last Romantic Lover" as being quite good, probably his best, although it would not appeal directly to anyone here (you may like it, but there's no connection to the various vices catered to here, having very little nudity, even, and no bondage of any kind -- a warning). Another of his films, Madame Claude, was based (I think) on real events in France, about a high-class madame who caters to a rich and influential clientele and finds herself in trouble that threatens even the government (can anyone say "Heidi Fleiss"?) -- but, gee, who here in the USA gives a rat's ass about the travails of French politicians? *Thud*.

I don't believe the movie "Gwen" really had much of ANYTHING to do with the "Perils" storyline beyond a few random bondage shots which catered to the "Willie Style", such as about 5-10 minutes showing various threatening bondage positions for background actresses and a couple minor scenes with Kitaen in non-nude fetish clothing. It was, as has been intimated, both disappointing and ultimately boring. None of it had really strong nudity, as though they were determined to get it an "R" even though the overall theme almost guaranteed an "X" (by this time, the mid-80s, theatres would almost never book an "X" for regular showing, if ever). In the end, they did get it an "R", but gosh, wound up with a film no one wanted to see. Quelle Suprise? "Hey! Lookatthis! In the $4.99 video bin...!"

What happened to JJ? No clue. There's nothing on his activities since 1984 on either Wikipedia or IMDB, although, apparently, he did appear as himself in two documentaries in 2000 & 2004, according to IMDB -- but that's it. He flat out disappeared from movie-making, apparently.

What's frustrating is that over the past 9 days, the site has been running smoothly for a grand total of about 16 hours. Saturday afternoon we conked out, then we were gone Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday night we came back, and by Friday afternoon, we were back down again. Out all day Saturday, Sunday, and now, Monday night, we're back. Has Dreambook fixed all their problems? I honestly have no idea. What I do know is that it's damn hard to run a discussion forum if people log in and are constantly being denied when they try to post.

I really do appreciate it when you guys take the time to add your comments, opinions, reviews...whatever... to the forum. It's because of you guys that we've been able to last for over 7 years. I certainly hope the past problems with the site being down haven't thwarted any of you from making this board a regular place to stop by on the Internet. So it's with a bit of caution and trepidation that I'm asking you to try it again and get this place talking. Honestly, we can't survive without your contributions, so please post away.
