It's a fedora, and the intent was to portray him as a mobster/South American drug czar, circa early-mid 20th century? I think the fedora could also be used in a Junta interrogation/torture setting?

Sometimes I wish Alex would include a little synopsis of the script. His command of English seems excellent.
As in: Armida is Alex' treasured concubine, but she is also an Informant, outed, captured, tortured and executed in South America.

I think the scene works great. It would be terrifying with that great big SA mobster waving the huge knife around in a menacing fashion.

I'm not sure the fedora works in a junta setting. That would be more military
