Upgrading the site and keeping it alive

Hello. It has come to my attention that we're running out of operating memory, not storage memory, which we have plenty of. The operating memory is what keeps the pages running. It's also needed for the automatic upgrades of all apps in the site. Which means that a couple of domains cannot be updated and that can result in some other issues which can create problems in the running of the sites.

I believe we will need to upgrade once again.

This brings me to some of the issues in the forum. There are some people who share a huge number of images, some of them gif, which do require operating memory.

Lots and lots and lots of NON GIMP images.

We'll have to sort out that too.

This is just a notification because there will be some changes soon. Do not be surprise if we suddenly do not load.

We have something like 800 hits on our Patreon link, but only two takers, maybe one, for the 3 dollar support the GIMP Forum option.

I can't call it a success. We'll see what happens by the end of the month and if there are no takers that campaign will be closed.

There are some issues we're experiencing right now, the normal back up of the sites is not working, and the reason is because we have exceeded our disk space. It means, we have to upgrade, once again.

We have tons of space for files, now we need to upgrade our operating system before it starts failing.

The other solution is to lower out needs, which means closing some sites and keeping the ones that are less demanding of disk space.

This forum demands a lot of space because the activities here are 24/24.



This Forum has a backup, up to a point. If we don't upgrade our disk space, there will be no back ups, and we know what happens when we don't have back ups. Any problem can make ALL the posts disappear. We don't want that, do we?

We have a new way to contribute to our goals to keep the GIMP Forum going and to improve it. This campaign will be limited until August 14, when we have to complete the process of upgrading. This is a one time contribution.

We set a goal of 1000 as a limit.
