This I would count as one of the greatest missed opportunities of all times... ah, if they had done this scene with her topless... and with some realistic strokes...

On Sin City, I would add with realistic bondage. Miller drew tight bondage in the comics but in the movie stupidly thick ropes are loosely draped so that she could obviously free herself if she cared to. It's like they don't dare do actual bondage bondage any more where the actress is really restrained. Anybody remember A Clockwork Orange? The actress in the rape scene missed lunch call because nobody remembered to untie her. That's realistic bondage.

OP here. Just to be clear about my question; because I didn't stipulate in my original post. I'm asking about totally realistic scenes. Are there any other with the production values of 12 Years a Slave? Her's was an Oscar winning performance. Literally.

As far as mainstream movies go I'm still searching for something "good". For the most parts the quest has been a series of letdowns. So many scenes have had potential but didn't even get there or stopped with one lash. Some shining examples of things that could have been great but were letdowns are "Burial of the Rats" and "Sweet Sugar". The producers literally had Phyllis Davis and Maria Ford willing and ready to showcase their talents in whipping scenes but failed to deliver. Those are just examples, so many others have done the same. One of the most realistic and best done scenes I've seen is probably from this mini-series:
