The birthday announcement got announced prematurely. Once midnight hit on the 29th, I was ready with the update on the GIMP Hall of Fame.
I thought Friedman would make it this year. I certainly voted for him since he produced some unforgettable classics and scenes, for ex. that strappado scene from Love Camp 7.Ralphus wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 4:38 pmThe birthday announcement got announced prematurely. Now that we know who made it (and who narrowly missed out, which by itself is pretty interesting), this would be a good time to chat it up.
Personally, I was pleased by the strong showing of both David F. Friedman and Mendal Johnson, two guys I was secretly rooting for, but both of whom had gotten meager results in past years. Neither one made it, but both missed getting in by just one vote. I think my post highlighting Friedman's work
(viewtopic.php?f=5&t=279&start=20) probably helped his cause.
But Johnson? I didn't put together any kind of promotion for him. He wrote exactly one book before he died, plus it was 48 years ago and as far as I know "Let's Go Play at the Adams'" is out of print. Of course, I still consider it the best book ever written about bondage. I just didn't think that many voters were familar with it.

I read it a long time ago, but, since I'm not into snuff, I still prefer "Story of O".Ralphus wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 4:38 pmBut Johnson? I didn't put together any kind of promotion for him.
