Re: Help us choose who belongs in the GIMP HALL OF FAME

As the ballots slowly pour in for this year's GIMP Hall of Fame, one name that is consistently overlooked is producer David F. Friedman. He may not be a household name to GIMPers, but a look at his body of GIMP-related work is mind-boggling. This King of Exploitation Cinema knew how to make big bucks, and one of the ways was producing films featuring women being kidnapped, bound, raped and tortured, starting with some of the earliest "roughies" of the 1960s and continuing on through the 2000s. What follows is a shameless attempt to alert voters to a candidate who really deserves to join the elite group already in Hall. This list is by no means complete, but take a look at just a few of the titles this man was responsible for:

The Defilers

The Ramrodder

The Lustful Turk

Brand of Shame

The Big Snatch

The Long Swift Sword of Siegfried

Love Camp 7

Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS

2001 Maniacs

And once again, there is still time to become a voting member for the GIMP Hall of Fame, just send me an email to ralphus44@aol.com and I'll mail you out your official ballot.

David Friedman's work is a library of cult classics that endure to this day. The same can't be said for many mainstream films that operated on his budget.

Absolutely agree on both choices. I have actually worked with Rachel Adams (not GIMP material) - she is a wonderful model!

You make a good case for Mr. Friedman, and now I know how prolific he was with the gimpery.

Btw, this scene from Ilsa of the SS has stuck with me for decades. There are two naked girls on the table with wire nooses around their necks, and they are standing on a block of ice. As the ice melts they slowly strangle and the wires draws blood around their necks. I don't know if Friedman thought that one up or someone else, but that's a straight torture fantasy that was the best part of the movie for me.

The only one of these I am familiar with is Love Camp 7, which I saw when it first hit the street. One of the better efforts in my opinion, with really attractive women who didn't look like porn stars.

It was done previously in a 1966 Turkish film called Altin Çocuk (US title Golden Boy). Very hard to find a good copy of that one.

Then years later, Kate Vernon faced a similar torture in the film Mob Story.

No bare boobage in that scene, but this was 1989, when bondage and nudity became pretty much forbidden in mainstream films.

Those are the only 3 instances where I recall that particular torture. I would love it if there were more.

Hidden Pleasures
Good suggestions, guys. Some of them are going to end up on the 2022 ballot. I should note that "Hidden Pleasures" was a bondage production company, not really eligible for the Hall itself. From looking at the credits on a few old Hidden Pleasures videos, I believe the company was run by a person named Tony Low. Presumably he was the one who was killed in an auto accident which put an end to Hidden Pleasures. But I don't know this for sure and there is almost nothing online about Hidden Pleasures, other than some stills and a few blurry videos on tube sites. That's why I hesitate to put anyone from that company on the ballot.

Is that movie available online somewhere ? Hadn't seen that particular snippet before.

Here, I uploaded the inverted scene to Zippyshare for you. It's tedious to watch, poorly edited (in other words, not edited at all) but it's still upside-down suspension. It actually works better as an animated gif than an actual scene.

That's awesome - thanks ! Actually i think it works quite nicely as a scene. Do you by any chance have anything else from HP that you could upload ? It would help a lot in compiling a pool of HP (video) material which right now it seems will take about 67 years as their stuff is so hard to come by, which to me is a mystery.

Many good suggestions above. I again suggest the late Tori Sinclair (Lisa Comshaw). She left a fine body of work spanning three decades. In particular, during her first decade or so with HOM, Lynden, & others. A naturally beautiful woman, who actually read a script & acted.
