Answer is one word: No!

This topic is about blindfolds, hoods, masks and other sensory deprivation gear.
Do you think they are necessary or useful to train or punish the GIMP ?

I agree as far as non-consensual GIMP fantasies as in many threads on this forum are concerned.
However, in real life consensual BDSM play they do add additional suspense for the slave as she will not see what is coming next. For the Master it's also a confirmation that his slave has full trust in Him.

I can only speak as a photographer and sponsor of videos.
I am against them unless there is a plot-based reason for them. Actors express with their eyes and face. If those are covered, then some of the emotive qualities of the picture are lost.
When I commissioned "Preparing For Surgery" with Victoria, I went ape-shit when I saw that Alex had used the loincloth as a gag. While I can see the merits of the idea, from a practical standpoint it had obliterated her face. A better way would have been to have tied it in a neat rope-like manner around her head, but even that would've obscured her beauty. I wanted the audience to see her face; to see her eyes and her mouth as she realized what was going to happen. But that was lost.
It is still a good scene, but I think if we had been able to see her expressions, it would've been better. Here is the raw footage. You can judge for yourself. Clips from the movie. Video link below:

If increasing the fear factor is what you are after, hoods and blindfolds serve an important purpose. The GIMP cannot see what is coming and, therefore, her anxiety levels skyrocket, which provides for some nice corporeal reactions and vocal sounds. As with gags, I would eventually remove them for the purpose of observing her facial reactions, which are an absolute plus, imo. Fear enhancement is a reason, besides preventing identification by the GIMP, that interrogators in many real scenarios keep the prisoner hooded or blindfolded at all times.

The lovely Dia Zerva, blindfolded and waiting for heavy abuse in Sex & Submission… and plenty of cock in that whining mouth.
Re: BLINDFOLDS, Hoods, Masks... are they necessary ?
Thank you for Dia Zerva, she's very hot indeed.
A few more blindfolded D.Z pics from a Hardtied session:

Oh yes a full hood is the order of the day and all slaves are considered to be most disobedient. Now that really isolates them. How evil.
Re: BLINDFOLDS, Hoods, Masks... are they necessary ?
Closed hoods are also good deshumanizing devices.
These blowjob machines don't need to see or hear, only do their best job to relieve male users:

A blindfold adds so much to this picture. I can see her being led into the Showroom for other masters to observe her, and as she enters she whispers "Please don't let them hurt me."
