Streaming Channel?

Post by Curious23 »

Hello GIMPers.

In post #20 of the Seditiosa topic, La Reine Margot said that they were looking at the possibility of setting up a streaming channel for their films. I thought I would start this topic, to see what you people think and to gauge how much support there is for this idea.

I for one would love to see this happen and I would watch all of their films at least once.

This is a surprise. Nobody has replied to my post after 7 weeks and almost 12000 views. Am I really the only one with a view on this?

I reiterate my support for this streaming channel. My preference would be to pay a small fee to watch each film, like on Vimeo at the moment. I would be willing to pay at least 5 dollars for each viewing.

The pros and cons of streaming

We are considering setting up a streaming channel, but first we have to decide if it's worth the effort and the money.

Setting up something like what we have with Vimeo, where we rent some of our movies, very few of them, is not the best.

People prefer to buy the films, that's what we noticed with Vimeo.

In the other hand, setting up a streaming site, where people join for a monthly fee, might be better, or it might not.

For that to work we would need at least 100 people joining the first month and a good number every month after that.

Our best deal at present is the sale of the films. It's steady and a good average per month. It doesn't change a lot from month to month except when we have a new release, then it goes pretty high for a couple of months and then it levels of.

Olalla is one of the films at Vimeo

And it is the one that makes the least. The one that sells well there is Justine.

When we first began with Vimeo we thought that lots of people would rent the movie, and I mean LOTS, like hundreds, maybe thousands, it's so cheap... if you compare it with the cost of the download. But no, the downloads sell and sell, the rentals... not really much.

That's the story, for now.

I see you can now stream films at the Red Feline website. Good, but why is it the same price as a download? I want to watch most of the films just once to see if I like it. I don't want to pay the same as I would for unlimited viewing. I can watch Justine for $3.99 at Vimeo so it does not appeal to me to pay $29.90 to watch it at the Red Feline website.

It's a good start though. I wish well with this project :)

We have two films, I think, that are offered as HD and cannot be downloaded, but the buyer has it for unlimited viewing, like the download option.

We're working to set up our streaming channel where for a monthly fee people will be able to watch all of our films, with new films coming frequently. We'll start with 40 films and it will grow from there.

There are some issues we have to work out to make it work the way we want it and we have to decide the monthly fee.

I think I would be interested in such a member option (assuming the pricing makes sense). I personally like the Vimeo rental option, but I seem to be an outlier.

I really dislike the player required to play the downloaded DVD images. It feels outdated, restrictive, and crashes pretty regularly.

I have tried the streaming option from the web site and the performance was not great - stutters and mid-film buffering were pretty frequent (and yes, I have a decent internet connection that performs well on other sites).

Just my 2 cents...

We're going over the options for a streaming channel and it would be at Vimeo, where we have our rentals. As we were going over what it takes to set it up, they were improving their system and making it even more interesting; however it has some costs and it would need a good number of members at the beginning, and I don't mean millions, just a few hundred, to make it affordable and desirable.

We're in the middle of learning the system and we'll be running some tests and begin uploading the films, one at a time, beginning with the oldies.

We're thinking that a reasonable monthly fee would be 20 US or a bit less. I don't know if there's a mandatory number of months to register.

I might have news about this by the middle of next month.

I'll keep you all posted.

There has been no updates about this for a while?

I am sure you are very busy with the new films you have coming out soon. And I wish you very well with that project.

I hope the streaming service has not been forgotten completely though? I would still like to see it happen some time.

Stream Our Films

Image

We’re beginning our Streaming Channel, something we have been planning and discussing for a while, considering the pros and cons and the possibilities, from maybe nothing to make it worth our while to possibly growing into something really big, bigly big.

This is huge in our book. A whole new world is opening for us but one that we have no idea what it will hold for us. Do we have as many possible supporters as we presume?

We prefer to be modest out of caution. A few hundred subscribers will make us very happy, less than a hundred not that much.

Will it work? We don’t really know. This is a brand new adventure. Would you like to join us?

https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/97ARF4Z35BQJ6

Image

If you join us now you will be part of the fun of building this streaming channel. How, you ask?

You will see its progress as we add films, work on the design, put our ideas to work and, in addition, you will have access to the Making Of clips of the productions we will be working on, Interviews, Out Takes. Exclusively. And some surprises as well.

To make things very interesting we have an elaborate plan. Join us right now with a contribution of $25 US and you will be part of our beginnings for three months.

You can pay here:

https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/97ARF4Z35BQJ6

You can also use this use this QR to pay:

During the next three months we will be very busy building the channel, adding films, setting them up, which takes time and a lot of work to arrange all those details for each movie. We have some movies already in the channel and we will adding new material on a steady basis. Almost daily, depending of how much we can put in in a give day.

Image

Our films are and will be organized in categories, like Feature Films, Medieval themed movies, Documentaries, Shorts, Making Of movies and so on. By the time were done organizing all of them we will have around 60 movies up with more to come!

Image

We know a lot of people are curious about all of our films but either are not willing to put the money down to buy them all or they have no access to some of them, like our documentaries or shorts, but now all the members will be able to see those films that critics and audiences talk about in glowing terms all the time, like our famous documentaries.

There will be more categories as we add films, all of them set for you at the tip of your fingers.

Image

When you join this most exciting adventure with the $25 for 3 months offer, we will contact you after we receive your payment. We’ll ask you to give us a user name and you will receive an email with a link to the site. Once there, all you will need to do is to set up your password. That simple. We’ll give you all the simple instructions to set all that up. The first 100 people to join with this offer will get an extra month! That will be $25 for 4 months!

The normal rate will be 9,99 a month, 99 per year, unless we think it should be more. In any case places like Netflix keep raising their monthly fee.

If in the other hand you want to join at the regular price, all you have to do is go to the link below and proceed to join at the regular monthly or yearly subscription price.

https://stream.redfeline.com

I’ll be looking forward to see you all there!

An in case you are not aware, we recently released a new film in our stores, Dani Suffers The Wheel and we also have a September Sale.

We have a SALE! 15% OFF if you buy 2 or more of our amazing movies!
