I received a message from another member of DeviantArt who posted BDSM-themed artwork letting me know that their account has been suspended. Thy started this reddit:

While this is nothing new, censorship seems to be ramping up. One of the AI image generating apps I used went from close to no restrictions to weird seemingly arbitrary restrictions.

Yeah, I got banned from there, too. I'm not even an artist, unless you count animated gifs. I started posting some of my works and I was getting quite a few likes and all kinds of positive feedback, made several new friends. Then all of a sudden, after 5 weeks, boom. DeviantArt "suspended" my account (which means permanent banishment) with no warning, no explanations, and that was it. I guess my themes were too "extreme" for them. This is the kind of stuff I would post. I'm befuddled, but I figured with that site, I was living on borrowed time. I guess I'm lucky I lasted as long as I did.

I believe most of us who have been generating original work for some time have tried to negotiate the DeviantArt minefield only to be shut down for crossing some obscure line.

The appearance of this topic made me remember and try going back to the site....
