You are right. That was the image that inspired me. I didn't completely take over the pained expression on the original's face. I mean, it didn't fit the overall image. But I was immediately fascinated by the original.

My story for the picture is simple and is set in the Middle Ages.
A young kitchen maid has stolen from the duke, taking leftover food from the kitchen home. For this he has her tortured by a crude servant with a red-hot iron. The torturer always strokes the young woman's sensitive skin very lightly. This prevents her from falling into a relieving faint.
The duke is present and gives precise instructions where to place the iron on the maid's body.
