Chapter XXXIV

Being dropped from twice the height increases the pain tenfold. This is too much to bear for Sansa. In spite of her innocence, she screams that's she is ready to confess.

"So you admit to poisoning the King, my son?" asks Cersei.

"Yes! Yes! I did it. But please, hurt me no more!"

"And you did it in cooperation with your husband?"

"My- my husband? Who..."

"Tyrion! That murderous freak! Lift the stubborn harlot again!"

"NO!! No, I did it together with him! Yes, yes, he gave me the poison... please take me off, it hurts so much, I beg you, please..."

Chapter XXXV

A few hours later Sansa is taken to Cersei's quarters and made to kneel in front of her. Meekly a broken Sansa repeats her false confession, and signs a document in which she accuses herself and her husband, Tyrion Lannister, of having poisoned and murdered King Joffrey I.

Chapter XXXVI

Over the following days, while Sansa is locked away in a dark, damp dungeon - still naked and heavily chained, but at least undisturbed by rapists and not subjected to further tortures - Cersei ponders how the execution will take place, considering the pros and cons of various forms of capital punishment.

"Burning at the stake? Painful, certainly. But they tell me the victim dies in a matter of minutes, suffocated by the heat and the smoke. Plus, that would call for comparisons with mad King Aerys. And those fanatic followers of R'hllor would read all kinds of prophecies in her pyre. No, I need something with no connections to any religion..."

"Torn to pieces by horses... Yes, spectacular, no doubt. And done the right way it can take hours. But messy. If I want to watch it up close I could get blood, entrails and other stuff on my dress. No, let me consider something different".

"Broken on the wheel. Now we are getting somewhere. Broken bones hurt like hell, then you get the crows pecking ... But up there on that wheel I would not have a good view of her face. Still, a very strong candidate...".

Cersei almost orders arrangements for the wheel option, but then she remembers reading about a form of capital punishment that's all the rage in the most à la page cities of Slaver's Bay...

So much for my attempt at creating suspense...

I can't really say this thread has been sorely missed, as not even Wulf enquired about it

Anyway, I suspended posting a month ago because I had started the same thread over at Cruxforums, and wanted to reach the same point there. However, two things happened: my PC crashed and was almost three weeks in repair, and a new UK law forced CF to close all threads with AI generated lookalikes of real people. Maybe the same will happen here, but I'll now post the few remaining pics. These are the ones polished up by Wragg.

Chapter XXXVII

Cersei almost settled upon breaking on the wheel, but then she read about a form of execution that was very in vogue with all the most fashionable torturers of Slaver's Bay. And so it was that a few weeks later, having more or less recovered, Sansa found herself in the main square of King's Landing. Naked, on her knees and with a heavy wooden beam tied upon her shoulders...

I have followed this series with interest, even though the scenes are familiar, the blending in of Sansa makes them most enjoyable. It's very well done work btw, and thanks for sharing.

As in this case, I don't always comment as often as I should. Time and laziness are my enemy, but i'll try to do better.

Chapter XXXVIII

The wooden log upon her shoulders was masterfully picked to be just within the limits of her strength. Carrying it will prove exhausting, but not beyond her physical possibilities.

Spurred on by the whip, among the jeers and abuses of the crowd, Sansa stumbles through the streets of King's Landing towards the place of her execution...

Chapter XXXIX

At last, an exhausted Sansa reaches the place of execution: a small hill just outside the city.

There she is quickly made to lie down. One of the executioners delights in showing her the nails that will be used, describing in detail how much it will hurt.

When the first blow of the hammer falls, all hopes of enduring her ordeal with dignity are crushed along with the small bones in her wrist.
