Some of the composite has Ceausescu as a reference, though it is not meant to be specific. The other thing that was probably in my subconscious when I worked on it, were pictures of Mussolini and his mistress Claretta Petacci hanging after their execution. Those images have haunted my imagination ever since I saw them as a child. A good story might have Il Duce strapped to a chair and forced to watch his captors ravish and torture Claretta before they execute them. Fiction, like Anastasia Codrenau. Thanks for your comment.

The other thing that was probably in my subconscious when I worked on it, were pictures of Mussolini and his mistress Claretta Petacci hanging after their execution.

Yeah, one of the most disgraceous scenes toward the end of the war. In the same line with Patton machinegunning captive German soldiers or Lockwood allowing his subs' skippers to do the same against the surviving Japs sailors floating around. But heck, the history is written by winners and all sins are absolved when you win the war.
