If that's so, the trouble with selling them might be less any "bad aim" you had with what bondage folks were after, and more to do with wide exposure, or price point. Maybe if you tried posting vid clips, about 30 seconds and possibly also bigger ones about 2 minutes, showing some of the highlights of one of the vids, you might drag people in, as well.

The biggest disappointment for me, by far, was Slave Labor Production's sequel of sorts to the excellent "Rape of Samantha Sweet" that I wrote about earlier. This one is called "The Virgin Bride" and features the same two participants as the original, plus a new female "victim". She's a newly-married bride who was abducted, still her wedding gown, by the man, who is now working with Samantha, his rape victim from the first tape. This new one is more vile, more disgusting, and far less successful than the original.

There are several reasons why it didn't work for me. The biggest problem was the "bride" was clearly into the S&M scene, to the point that she is actually wearing rings through her nipples and pussy when they take her dress off. Sorry, that's an immediate turnoff. What I saw was not a "beautiful, innocent young woman", as the synopsis advertises, but instead a freakgirl merely going along, pretending to be forced. The girl in the first tape, Samantha Sweet, was an excellent victim who really made the original work. This time, she's a dom, which is sort of unlikely, and while she's decent in this role, it was just too jarring to believe that she would suddenly make a complete turnaround and go the other way.

It's too bad, because what they did to the new girl is degrading stuff that I would normally like. They gag her with her own soiled panties (FAKE!) and besides torturing her whole body with clothespins, they also force her to give Samantha oral sex while the man is dripping candle wax all up and down her body, including coating her pussy with it. The man fucks her pussy and her ass, and makes her lick the shit off his dick after he's through with her ass (FAKE!). Then he cums on her face (FAKE!) and Samantha gives her a golden shower (FAKE!). Fade out, the end.

Now everyone knows I'm a ZFX fan, and most of what ZFX does is simulated, too, but at least most of it works because Rick is able to find attractive girls who seem to show genuine distress, plus editing and sound effects add to the illusion. What this tape lacked was a convincing victim and a believable presentation. It's got some nasty ideas, but it didn't work for me. I'd give it a C-. Here's an idea. Remake it, use Samantha as the victim again and drop the whole second girl theme. It can't help but be better.

I also saw "Trick or Treat", the fourth and final of the Forbidden Video tapes I had ordered. I'd be interested in hearing from Howie or anyone else who saw it for a contrasting opinion, but I had problems with this one, too. Once again, it all goes back to the actress and the presentation. It's a classic idea. The home intruder, this time breaking in on Halloween night and terrorizing the female victim. Except the filmmakers resort to using chloroform on her (3 times!) and she's unconscious for half the tape! I don't mind it used once to subdue the victim, but what's the point of doing all this stuff to her if she can't even react? There's a scene where the attacker ties her to a chair and uses clothespins on her pussy lips, normally a nice torture, but she never wakes UP! You might as well be torturing a department store mannequin, or a corpse.

The other problem was the actress, who is pretty enough, but hardly expressive at all, and we barely hear any screams or emotions. In fact, the entire soundtrack consists mainly of a Halloween sound effects CD she puts in the player at the beginning of the tape, which is merely looped thoughout the entire tape. The effect is similar to watching those HOM Bondage Classics tapes with their dubbed over music. Not a real smart production choice.

There is a rape in this one, a spreadeagle bondage one, but unlike the others, it is clearly simulated and you see no actual penetration and no cum shot. The tape comes alive the last 10 minutes when he spreadeagles her standing with her back to the fireplace. He puts vises on her nipples and uses a one of those electric firestarter matches to torture her, as well as a simulated penetration with a pumpkin head flashlight (a little too phony). Overall, it was another good try, and I will order again from Forbidden Video, even though their stuff is a bit inconsistent. This one would get a C+.

Now on to the good stuff. I finally got to see that tape that was featured in the "Nettles" clips that were posted on alt.sadistic. Made in the Netherlands, "Bed of Stinging Nettles" (thanks to skh for the info on it) is clearly the best of the bunch. It's an outdoor bondage torture tape (How rare is that?) that delivers from start to finish. There's nothing fake about this one. Just a very pretty girl screaming her fool head off while being tied, gagged, stripped, whipped and forced to endure the painful sting of dozens of nettles upon her body. I admit, I didn't know what nettles were before I saw the clips, but obviously, they hurt like hell, and late in the vid you get a look at the girl's body and there are lots of nasty marks all over her skin. The guy takes a large wide board and covers it with the nettles, then ties the poor girl on top of them so she has to lay on her torture bed. He rubs them over her pussy and ass, and as I mentioned earlier, she knows how to scream. Sweet music to my sadistic ears! :o) I would have liked a few more shots of the girl's face, but otherwise, this is a superior bondage torture tape, and an unusual method of torture, as well. I have to apologies about my reviews of the "Forbidden Videos." I just started a new job and I simply haven't had the time to sit down and write the reviews of them that I feel this board deserves. I'll give a quick synopsis of my feelings on them now, but when I get the time I will go into more detail if people want to hear more about them.

I have all of them now accept the "Dr. Something" tape that Ralphus said sucked, because the chick in it didn't look that hot, and of course the shitty review.

Concerning the "Trick or Treat" tape I think I liked it quite a bit more than Ralphus did. I will preface this by saying that if torture is your real drive in getting this tape, Ralphus is right on the money, so save yours.

She is asleep most of the movie, and even when the torture does proceed, it isn't even a pimple on the ass of what you get from a ZFX tape. Completely different leagues. It's like I said in my brief review of the "School Girl," one. You could almost call it a gentle rape. The reason I like it more than Ralphus though is that even though I "LOVE" the torture aspect of ZFX video's, It's not the only selling point for me. I also like the "Sleepy" photos over at Drop Dead Gorgeous. I think it's the whole aspect of having free reign over an incredibly hot chick against her will that is the main driving point for me in any of these tapes. So while seeing beautiful women get roughed up is INCREDIBLY appealing, for me, I also like the idea of just seeing them get fucked and fondled. The key to it being that it's "against" her will. That's something tapes with sleepy themes can sometimes pull off very well, because all the actress has to do is be convincingly limp. Notice I said "sometimes," because you would be amazed at how hard this apparently is for some of the actresses to do, but the one in this tape pulls off a pretty convincing performance in that regard.

She does get chloroformed 3 times in the movie, like Ralphus said, but I loved it, and to me that seems some what more realistic than if the attacker had simply tied her up and let her start whaling as he went to town on her. It's like hitting the greatest alarm clock snooze button in the world. Every time she starts to come around, hit her with the chloro, and you get another session of unabated sexual gratification without her screaming so loud that someone hears you. Just knock her out and go back to town again. : ) And if that sounds appealing to you, this is one of the better ones I've seen. I found the red head in it to be VERY attractive. Slim beautiful body with great breasts and a pretty face, and you will become very familiar with every inch of her as her attacker is very thorough and lingering, as well as the camera. So in my book this one gets a B. Would have been a B+ , but that dam Halloween soundtrack Ralphus mentioned is annoying enough to warrant dropping the + , but it doesn't even come close to ruining the tape because the chick is so HOT!

Ok, I'm going to have to cut it short here because I HAVE to get some sleep, but I'll try to get my reviews of the other flicks up sometime this weekend. Until then, and since we are in need of a new subject, how about everyone voicing their opinion on what I was just talking about? Ralphus, bummer on part two of the Slave Labor tapes. I was kinda surprized though when I read a few postings back that you had even bought part two. Forbidden Video...After reading the reviews of "Afterschool Surprize" I had to pick it up (mention of facial cum shot while tied sold me!). Started watching the tape as soon as it arrived....was mis-tracking slightly at the begining....gradually getting worse....to the point of almost being unwatchable at the climatic scene. Major piss off! My thoughts however....have to agree in that the asailant was way too gentle. Although attractive the actress couldn't act her way out of a paper bag...."What do you want?" as her clothes are being ripped off....duh! The gag should have been left on all the time she wasn't giving head. Her half hearted protests of "No, not on my face" really missed the mark when I think most would be fearing for their lives. I also discovered something. I've always prefered the victims to be barefoot (or at least end up that way at some point), and this might sound bizzare, but I will usually not buy a tape if I know that the actress will have her shoes on for the duration. I did however like "Forced Entry", "The Cheerleaders of Perilous U", and dispite what sounds like a negative review "After School Surprize" which I shouldn't like because the main participants are wearing socks. I bought 'em anyway because the story line works because, if you don't find the feet of a woman a senual part of her body then there's no need to remove the socks. In other words, it fits with the story. But to buy videos with socks but not buy them if they are wearing shoes doesn't really make sense. That's where the discovery came in. Along with other comment's prior such as making them ungraceful because of clomping around while tied, the main reason I discovered....it just makes the whole scene look posed. It loses the reality whereas the above mentioned examples don't. I know you guys could probably give a crap but I always wondered within myself as to why. Now I know....It just looks posed and therefore it misses.

Anyway, as for new threads. With Ricks new flick due anytime now there will be pleanty of ZFX discussions. As for now, with all the new discoveries of material, what is your favorite non-ZFX scene and why? I'll start by noting one of my favorites being from a Bryan Davis ( yeaugh I know, but we're just talking scenes here) video (sorry can't remember which one since they're all just numbered). In a previous post, someone mentioned selling stills in a magazine using hi-res 35mm camera. I'm an amateur photographer and would love to shoot the stills of a ZFX film. And I live an hour or so from Orlando :)

Second, I need some advice on ZFX films. What's the general consensus on the quality of the "War Pigs 1" and "War Pigs 2" films? The ZFX homepage doesn't have stills from these two videos so I can't really judge the quality of the scenes.

Third, has anyone watched any of the Nu-WestLeda videos under the Flag Concepts line? Info on these is pretty sketchy, even on the official nu-westleda.com homepage. I tried emailing the proprietor but no response yet. A few that I'm considering are "Ingrid's After Hours Whippings", 'Whipping Sorority', 'Three Naked Women', 'Mallory Stripped and Whipped', 'Jacques' Hard Whipping', 'Whipped At The Wall', 'Whipped At The Cross', and the Historical whipping series. Any opinions on these particular films, or the line in general, would be appreciated.

I don't know if there will be a consensus on this (time willtell), but I can give you my two cents on the WP series:

It's beem a while since I watched them, so this comment is dome from my memories. Personally, I prever the first two WP's over the later ones. My favorite is WP2. It has one of the fan-favorite actresses in one of her best performances, and some very good positions. The acting and the storyline is absolutely above avareage. Highly recommended!

Past few months I've invested heavy on some old HOM and TAO stuff, and also re-discovered the Japanes BD market, so I don't really need to put up with any empty promisses. I sure dropped ZFX as my main point of interest. I'm still thankful for all the jewels Rick provided us with in the past (I'm sure you all know that), but I also learned that it's not the end of the world if I never see a new tape.

The absence of ZFX made me look around for other stuff, and we all know there's plenty of stuff out there. Especially our oriental friends put out some cool tapes that easily match Rick's flicks. A lot of them are way better produced than ZFX (Though it's not fair to compare: These guys really have HUGE budgets to produce) and the storyline, setups, bondage and acting are better than in a lot of ZFX tapes.

A year ago I might have said "ZFX forever!", but now.....???It was a good thing as long as it lasted, but the party's over.

In reference to discussions new and old, some random thoughts: favorite actresses Penelope Pace, Allison Parrish, Monica Moore, not to be slighted Drew Phonix (I didn't realize she was Rick's wife, but always wondered if there was some connection because she was so prominent in the early vids), and Lisa Kinkaid (it has been very interesting to watch her development as a bondage superstar). However, a big favorite of others seems to be Chandra Sweet, I really only liked her in the first couple of outing. In the later vids I do admit she made an outstanding villain, she could really get some spaced outed manical expressions on her face. Along the same line, the War Pigs series is not one of my favorites, guess it goes along with not being a real Chandra fan.

Other preferences, bare feet, suspension (a personal favorite, waxing (which Rick has lately been doing much more of), the unconscious woman scenarios (at least while she is being stripped and initially fondled), kidnap and abduction scenes, any scene where the beautiful victim (and almost all the ZFX women are beautiful)is pleading or screaming, etc. Damien, I understand your disappointment with the production output and missed distribution dates over the last couple of years, 5 vids a year, and or, one at a time is simply not a good idea.

Favorite outings, Maximum DeSade, particularily the scenes with Nina Dew and Desiree Demona. (Side note, speaking of Desade, just saw Quill, what a disappointment, how can anyone make a NON erotic movie about the Marquis, ask the people behind this film because they managed to do it. About the only erotic thing in the film was a tryst between the priest and the dead Madeline, great body but necrophalia is not my thing, unconscious maybe, but always alive)

Other great ZFX moments, Subject 9 and Point of Entry, the unveiling of Penelope Pace. Also the last chapters of Video Pirates and Night Prowler featuring the introduction of Candi Licks, who, in my opinion took ZFX to a whole new level. Kelly McKay was also in those and was equally stunning. Turnoffs, fake breasts, Tabitha Jordan was great BEFORE enhancement, shoes, especially boots and tennis shoes - sorry Rick, on that we disagree (too bad for me!), sucking dildoes, peeing (this has shown up a number of times lately, not my particular cup of tea, all women vids (although some forced intimate encounters between two women is always welcome, ala Forced Entry), SOME of the whipping sequences, they don't have to be real but at least make them look real, some of the whips look like cutup black trash bags, (I'm not sure but I think this qualifies as a run on sentence),biggest turnoff is the lack of new releases. Once you hook us you should try to keep us well stocked.

There has also been discussion about how an interest in our particular field developed, I guess I was hooked when I saw my first horror film, Dracula mesmerizing his beautiful victims, or the Mummy carrying off a seductively nightgown clad Princess Anaka. For me, the sexual overtones in the vampire movies were prominent. Then along came great B epics like Blood Feast with Playboy playmate Connie Mason, and cult classic Blooksucking Freaks. I Spit on your Grave is another golden oldie. Anyway, you see the progression.

My first actual exposure to bondage tapes was the old HOM 8mm, particularily the Cole and Whitman efforts. Recently got hold of a tape called Erotic Pervisions which featured some of their best stuff, I mean this is extreme, needles in the breasts (looks very real), lots of blood (looks very fake, but interesting)spiked dildoes with lots of brutal insertions (looks real but had to be fake)and very stringent bondage. It is all the kidnap and capture then torture genre. The only drawback is these are silent loops with only background music. Screams sure make any action more enjoyable.

The great thing about ZFX is the variety, you want a torture tape, try Worm, another of my personal favorites, I was really looking forward to the promised sequel, oh well. The abduction themes are also great, the 666 series with its satanic cult theme is another favorite (along with the SOB series), although I could do without the 3D animation, it cheapens the whole production. Kimberly and Christina are both great addition to the ZFX gallery of babes, they suffer and pass out so well. The evil doctor, sex drug story lines are also great, Guinea Pigs, Doc Bondage, etc. Outdoor bondage, something Rick did in some of the earlier vids, I think the last effort along this line was Fair Game, a short sequence with Chandra. There is just something about a woman in bondage outdoors that is very appealing. (I guess it takes me back to the old HOM 8mm) I know Rick has seen a bunch of these, it was one of the things I read in the archives, it confirmed my belief SOB was a updated version of Tourist Trap. I watched the ForbidenVideo.com Private's Parts tape. Kind of an amateur effort that could have pushed the envelope further. Seemed like the victim/model was merely following directions given off-camera then a voice-over was crudely inserted afterward--poor synchronization. Kinda like a Mr. Bill episode! The basic idea is OK though it could have been done better a la the War Pigs scenario. There is implied bound penetration during a forced enema that is actually a forced douche (don't know how they could confuse the two)--really badly faked. Forbidden Video continues to be wildly inconsistent. Or maybe I just don't "get" what they're trying to do. I saw tape number 5 last night, entitled "Lessons in the Barnyard". Sounded sort of intriquing, about a couple of backwoods hicks who get their chance to go at a "purty girl" who happens to stumble upon their lair out in the middle of nowhere. They knock her out by spiking her drink with a horse tranquilizer, and she stays knocked out...for a good 40 minutes or so! Anyway, they molest her body with a hand-whittled dildo, eventually rape her and make all kinds of stupid hillbilly observations. It's all rather silly, and doesn't take itself seriously at all, which made it sort of an amusing light comedy. But what was unforgivable was that the girl was NEVER TIED UP at all! Even after they brand her (the only semi-good scene in the tape) and she finally wakes up, she doesn't even struggle, and they carry on with their business. What the hell??? It makes you wonder if this tape was made by one of those clueless country hicks, because they really blew it on this one. I would charitably give it a C- because I laughed a few times, but it's junk. Give ZFX credit. They may not crank out the tapes as fast as Forbidden Video seems to, but their stuff is much more artfully produced, and doesn't look like it was knocked off in a day or so. Bondage rape tapes are much easier to make than the stuff ZFX specializes in anyway. It's easy enough to tie up a chick and fuck her. You just have to find a cute one who can act, and make sure everything goes in the right holes. But to make a torture tape where you actually believe the chick is really getting whipped, shocked or put through a lot of pain, as WELL as raping her...well, that's a much bigger challenge. And more often than not, they come through.

Don't get me wrong, I cut my bondage teeth on ZFX vids, and will always follow what Rick is doing, but I am pointing out that, while Rick had a big advantage over his competitors in the early 90s (Bon-Vue, Bizzare, etc) in that he was doing much harder stuff that they were, there are a host of new competitors around now due to the net who are also doing harder stuff. The Bondage Island guy even incorporates a story in his vids like Rick does (no Sci Fi that I can tell, more like origional CalStar vids). My unsolicited opinion is that it would be in Rick's interest to keep production at a level to compete with these new internet players, while balancing that with production quality, of course. Or at least updating his site more often to keep us fans abreast of how things are coming along.

Almost forgot to get back to you on your inquiry on HOM and TAO. Both have been discussed rather thoroughly at this excellent forum a while ago. To avoid repeating myself and others, I suggest you have another look at those postings a few eeks (maybe months) ago.

In general, I'm really very fond of the old HoM BD-Classics. Everybody who hasn't seen any those, quit reading this mail now and hurry to your local video store. Never ever have "classics" carried this title that just!

As for TAO, I like most of the "collectors series" a lot. Looks a lot like the BD- Classics, sometimes ruined by non-synchrone voice overs. IMH opinion, they should have stuck with the music, like HoM.

One of the things I appreciate are suggestions are where to right other interesting films, a few suggestions, probably nothing you all don't already know about. In regard to Asian bondage the Tokyo Torture Chamber series is pretty decent, possibly a step above that is Severe Asian Bondage, at least the newer ones which have no fogging which can be a distraction. Also, some Bon Vue releases with Cindy Prince are all above average IMO, she is small breasted but they are real. The CineMagic are mostly excellent except for the fogging. It doesn't really bother me when they are fucking, however it does ruin the oral sex scenes. So depending on your particular interest they might be worth your time.

If you can still find them some 70'sXXX movies (before everybody went to video tape) are worth a look. For instance Sex Wish, The Story of Joanna (although I have yet to see a copy that was a decent transfer) and I still think Behind the Green Door is one of the best adult films ever made. Okay, I'm going to take a breath and not go on with a another novel.

Ralphus, you were wise to pass on the "Private's Parts," tape. While the chick is good looking in it, the flick violates my major rule when it comes to tapes of this ilk. So far as I know Rick remains, even today, a one-man show. But he also retains all of his creativity in a time when new technologies and tools are giving him a chance to do lots of other things with his imagination, probably a lot of the things he wanted to do when he started making movies in the first place. While that presents opportunities for new and cool stuff, it also represents (I'm guessing here. Rick may feel free to say I'm blowing smoke if I am wrong) serious drains on his time. The guy has a big catalog to generate a revenue stream now, and wants to try doing something differently. He'll (and we'll) never know if it's the right way until he tries.

Last, I do agree with you about date slippage on releases. It's almost like we are looking at a computer game publisher instead of a movie publisher. At the same time, Rick knows that saying something like "January 15 is a firm date!" and then missing that date is not good for his PR, so there isn't any reason for him to say that unless he believes it himself. We don't know the challenges, whether the boxes are late, or the tape dubbing is slow, or the shipment got held up. The fact that it happens routinely doesn't mean there's a solution, or at least one with a cost that Rick would find acceptable.

Damien: I understand you have a reputation to live up to as the Board's Number One Pessimist, but you don't have to keep trying so hard to find fault with seemingly everything. Like Iago says, cut the guy some slack! The tape was originally promised right before Christmas, and now it is due out February 1. That would be just barely over a month overdue, and we don't even know what the circumstances are that caused the delay. As far as the website not being updated, I'm sure that will come shortly. You are right about one point however: the apparent lack of communication Rick seems to have had with this forum for the last several weeks. Check now and you won't even find any posts from him, because they have all scrolled off over the past month. I know he still reads this board, and it's surprising to me that he has been so quiet, even if the news he had to report may not be all smiling and happy. I honestly expected an update, any update, by now.

But getting back to Rick, I envision the day, hopefully not any time in the near future, when he announces there will be no more ZFX. It could happen. He's been at this some 10 years now, and maybe he feels he is creatively burned out (although judging by his recent work, he keeps stretching and improving all the time). Maybe the slowdown is his way of saying he is retiring, or taking a break from it all. And he comes on and reads this board and maybe sees someone bitching about the delays, and it could make him even more frustrated. Rick doesn't OWE us anything. He makes these films for himself, when it comes down to it, and the fact that others appreciate his art and he happens to make money at it is frosting on the cake. I'm in no way saying that we have to clam up and only say nice things to and about Rick. After all, this is an open forum, and there are lots of opinionated people who post here. I'm critical of the man, too. But I'm only saying...we could possibly lose him if this board turns into little more than a bitch session. Rick might just say the hell with it.

Alternatives to ZFX? There are obviously lots of other fetish producers out there that produce similar material (and God knows how many I have sampled personally), but the only ones that truly rival ZFX in my mind are the Japanese. They make the best bondage films in the WORLD, with big budgets, beautiful women and extreme torture and rape. Their stuff is often great because it is REAL, but even most of the tapes coming out of Japan have one big drawback, and that is optical censoring. Unless something has happened recently that I don't know about, it is against the law to show genitalia (although they seem to have no problem showing an innocent schoolgirl being gang- raped; that's apparently okay). Seems kooky to me that a country as refined as Japan still has such antiquated views on showing pubic hair, even today, in the 21st Century.

As for no Rick on the board, in the past I have noticed that an absence is sometimes followed by a post reporting on the filming he was working on. Lets hope that is the case. Perhaps he is in the basement of Lickity Split flogging Kelly Mckay as we speak. I can dream..

Anyhow, what I'm getting at are that most of the Japanese Vids or DVDs that I own are torture free. They are just good old fashioned horny guys raping the shit out of some poor incredibly HOT chick. BTW, you are not quite correct in guessing that I have to have torture to enjoy a porn tape. While I'm a fan of torture, my main criteria would be BONDAGE. AvF: "Bed of Stinging Nettles" is a very good buy at $39.99 (I paid $55 for mine at the Netherlands site). Sorry I've not posted in a bit, but things have been hectic here etc. I have been working on equipment upgrades and the place has been ripped apart for over a week. I read here daily, just finding the time to write is often difficult.
