Artists, a new place for you

"The first part of this post is a repeat of the message to VoD members on the Welcome page in the Guest Lounge. It segues into the explanation for the Gallery structure.
I closed Visions of Darkness four years ago for personal reasons. It's a decision I've struggled with ever since and come to regret. I built Dark Art in the hope that those of you who were members might give me a second chance with a fresh start, and to offer new folks another place to hang out and share their work. I made mistakes and learned a lot while running VoD. I intend to put what I learned to use with Dark Art, starting with the gallery structure.
One thing that proved a constant headache was keeping extreme artwork separated from lighter content. There were two galleries on VoD - the Promenade and Back Room. The Back Room was for extreme stuff (death, torture, etc.). The Promenade was for subjects like shadowy figures stalking the night. Keeping them organized became especially problematic when artists mixed the two in their work. I never blamed artists, but I didn't enjoy the stress of deciding what was more appropriate for each gallery.
I'm not doing that again. Here on DA, all 3D art goes in one gallery, and all 2D art goes in the other. Apart from DA's visual appearance, the galleries are the biggest change from VoD, and I hope you'll enjoy the simplicity of knowing where to post as much as I'm going to enjoy the simplicity of moderating content.
The Artist of the Month gallery is back. It was a fun way to spotlight each other's work on VoD, so now it's here.
Thank you."
