She's South African, as I recall, and refuses to do the young man, so he has her strung up and whipped by the black overseer. Then she's turned around and whipped on the front, but she refuses to break. So the guy starts burning her with matches until she's screaming...then the whipping is finished.

Anyone still have any of the original images?

This one is fantastic. I hope the series will continue.

And then she's made to ride the wooden horse. There is also a short sequel where she is tortured with hot irons.

I have a copy of the story, but the illustrations were misplaced a long time ago.

I had little time to elaborate earlier, but the rendition is indeed beautiful and I second the hope expressed by others that it will turn in a series portraying Melissa's agony. Especially the horse ride.
