Re: We were reported by someone

We have temporarily enabled attachments in order to locate the pictures that are causing issues. However, this task is not something we can accomplish alone; we require assistance from the community.

We are asking for your support in reviewing one or two threads and reporting any images that violate our guidelines. By letting us know about images that do not comply with the rules, we can promptly remove them and help maintain the integrity of our community.

Your participation is crucial for the success of this effort. Attachments will remain enabled until Sunday night, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute during this period. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our platform safe and welcoming for all members.

I do not quite get it.

Some assehole posted a picture of possibly underage person and the Mods or the general public do not know who and what?
Another assehole reported it and the Mods cannot get the info from the registrar what or who either?

weird but I guess all of this is above my pay-grade

The New Rules!

Post by La Reine Margot »

This forum is pretty much Anything Goes, whether we like it or not.
HOWEVER there is ONE BIG RULE and if the RULE is Broken there are consequences.

We will delete any post containing images and text that suggest UNDERAGE.

If it LOOKS underage to US, it will be deleted.

We will not engage in DEBATING if an image is or it is not breaking the rules. If it looks it does, it will be deleted.

If an image you want to post LOOKS like it will break the rules DO NO POST IT.

We're already deleting many posts that break the rules in our view.

If the community can't find the offending image, that suggests the image was found by a bot and reported automatically. Ie. it may not be a person. The problem is different if the image was autodetected by a crawler.

If there is one image, there may be more. You may be better off purging all past images from the affected forums. I know that's drastic, but it's the only way to be sure that questionable image content from the past won't resurface in the future. We may be able to survive getting reported once, but if it happens again, that's probably an automatic bye-bye. Going forward, we then just need to be more strict with enforcing the rules.

We will delete any post containing images and text that are or suggest UNDERAGE.

If it LOOKS underage to US, it will be deleted. If there are children in an image, regardless of what they are doing, the entire post will be deleted.

We will not engage in DEBATING if an image is or it is not breaking the rules. If it looks it does, it will be deleted.

If an image you want to post LOOKS like it will break the rules DO NO POST IT.

We're already deleting many posts that break the rules in our view. Not only the images, the entire post, even if it breaks a story.

We have no choice but to be extremely strict with this.

The alternative is to close the forum.

We (the moderators) over on the Crux Forum have adopted the same strict policy concerning anything appearing to be underage. We had already dealt with some questionable images with a 'consensus' decision, but since this came up with the Gimp's situation, we've tightened our rules will behaving less debate in the future. Glad to see you are doing the same thing here.

How about a automatic ban on any account that tries to post questionable material? I think you've made it pretty clear on the line that's not to be crossed.

And maybe restate the earlier post every quarter, for new members?

Can anyone give us an idea of what date we need to look back to? And what specific thread?
