Re: The Re Opening of the GIMP FORUM
You're welcome.
Yes, we'll set up a stories section soon, similar to the reviews section, where there will be link to stories in the main site and where people will be able to post their stories, like before the crash.

Re: The Re Opening of the GIMP FORUM
I posted the following at the Frog Pond thread, but... valga la redundancia (it's worth repeating):
And yes, it (the crash of the Forum) was (because of) the tremendous number of contributions, tremendous... huge... worthy of FB... that stopped it on its tracks. Since we do not have the capacity of FB to hold billions of posts, manifestos, comments, pictures, gifs, movies, etc and etc, we must be careful.
However, there are some alternatives to just having one place to see it all. We're looking into it.
If, we need to upgrade the server to an even bigger one, and more expensive, we'll have to see if the funds allow it.
If we can't, then we'll have to 'prune' the forum once in a while, that means... delete, delete, delete...
One of the alternatives we're looking into is an archival system.
What I do suggest is you all keep a backup of your posts.
A text file and the pictures in a neat folder, in case you need to put them back up.
But we learned our lesson, we're going to download backups of the forum all the time, just in case, so if we ever need to replace all that you see here in the future, we'll be able to do it, up to the most recent backup, if the capacity permits... yes...
Right now we're in the middle of rebuilding our sites and for our needs to spread the word about our work, we're opting to have a site dedicated to the news inside redfeline.com. The main site will be dedicated to the movies themselves.
We have one post from the past in the new site while we test it, my very first post at the new GIMP forum, after Amy got it to run again:
https://redfeline.com/chronicles/2018/0 ... t-post-at/
Time is running and we're going to end this year at a time when I'm just getting used to the background images of GIMP 2021, having the feeling that I just did that yesterday.
I have to start working on the GIMP 2022 background image, for crying out loud...

Re: The Re Opening of the GIMP FORUM
Sorry if this is a repost, but does anyone know why I can't send IM's or reply to a message? Seems like I don't have permission to do this. To those who have messaged me, sorry I can't reply just yet!

You need to have three posts approved before you have all the permissions.

Re: The Re Opening of the GIMP FORUM
This is a quicky.
I went to the GIMP archives of what is there of the old, old, old forum, the one Amy replaced, and found out that the last posts there were in August 2016. Interesting. I'm looking into recovering posts after that date.
I did manage to activate a few of them in my computer and if I work with each page individually, I might be able to recover them all, maybe not all, but most of them, like the one below from September 2016:

Most of the images are in the pages, all of the text, boy they are looooooooooooong pages. Really long, really. Long. Awfully long...
Each page covers like a week of posts, really. Long. The good thing is that everything in those pages that are heavy, like images, gifs and so on, unless they are linked elsewhere, they are in the site. So, it won't cause problems as far as the working of the site goes.
Ok... just that. More news about this later.
