From my (real world) experience I would say no more, no less. When I once spanked my sub wearing a thight panty-girdle she first seemed relieved thinking it would be less painful for her, but no: the bruises left on her bottom were identical as well as the pain. But keeping the girdle in place AFTER the punishment added to the pain (she said) and was quite unpleasant. This was using a big wooden paddle, caning seems (a little bit) easier to bear with a girdle, depending (of course) of the thickness of the girdle fabric, the implements used, how hard you strike, etc...
Unfortunately I no longer have female subjects on hand to continue these very interesting experiments...

That pretty well answers my question, and confirms what I suspected. Thanks for the reply.
Just a thought.... it might be worthwhile to figure out how to line the inside of the girdle with small, pointed studs. She could wear it during and/or after the spanking (I recommend a wide paddle). Might also be an interesting garment for her to wear during the day... at work or shopping or just hanging out with friends.
