HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIMP
Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIMP
P.S. And thanks for raising the limit of attachments to 2.0 MB. Yes, we're paying attention, Mz. Margot.

That is an accomplishment!
Ralphus said it very well in his anniversary post and I'm somewhat surprised that only a handful participated of this celebration.
I can't say the enthusiasm is shared by many.
Is there anybody out there? Apart from the 8 that remembered?
I know there are many who use the site and post, and post some more, and then post again and I'm happy they do, but...
I have been involved in maintaining this site for a few years now, with the ups and downs that come with it and I will continue with my efforts with the assistance of those who are part of my team. But I feel that the site is taken for granted, as if its existence is a given and not and effort that should be celebrated.
Next year, around this time, it will be a quarter of a century and I expect, if all goes well, to have a tremendous celebration, not like now, where 8 of the hundreds of members remembered what it means to have this amazing site.
It is somewhat surprising that the site's anniversary wasn't a big deal for most of the current posters here. I remember back when we would get DOZENS and DOZENS of happy birthday posts and people weighing in on what the site meant to them. This year, there were 5. That's it.
As for the Hall of Fame update, I think we had one comment. And it didn't take long til the thread had fallen halfway down to the Topics section. At least your post brought it back up to the top. Temporarily, at least.
I'm not trying to guilt-trip anyone here into posting about the site's birthday or about the Hall of Fame. I can tell you the Hall of Fame process, from setting up the ballots, procuring the member's votes, writing the Hall of Fame plaques and getting the entire update ready, literally takes multiple weeks. I think it's an important part of the site, but if it's too trivial for most of you, it's out of my hands. We are a discussion site, or at least we were. If it's not worth discussing, there's other threads out there. Maybe you're too much into Mature Ladies and don't have time to read anything else.
All I'm saying, and I'm not being judgemental, is that things used to be different around here. It's sure not the same place I remember.
Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIMP
Congrats on 24! I'm fuckin' amazed, truth be told. It is a testament to the dedication of a very few like Ralphus and Margot that I know of. Few things are the same as I remember. For better and worse.

However, I brought out a few of our extras to have a nice parade.

As a recent joiner I just did not realize the significance of the birthday. My bad and profuse apologies.Ralphus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:16 pmThanks for your post, Margot.La Reine Margot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 2:41 pm 24 Years!

Yeah, when you think about it, 24 years of longevity in the internet age is a freaking amazing stat.hornythumb wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 11:05 amAs a recent joiner I just did not realize the significance of the birthday. My bad and profuse apologies.

With the older Forum, it was very difficult to add images. Whereas today... Plus you know, a picture says a thousand words... blah blah.
I'm grateful that recent joinees such as yourself, have stuck around to add to the conversations.
I also wish we heard more often from the younger folks, instead of so much from geezers like me. That would be interesting. But perhaps they're too busy with life...
Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIMP
I would like to join the choir and congratulate. It is truly amazing that this site has been around since the dawn of the anthropocene (well, anthropo-obscene, really). Great job. And your archives are a real treasure trove of kink and smut and so many things that are wonderfully despicable and plainly wrong.
I have another very special reason to celebrate the existence of this place, having been included in a Hall of Fame that features many of the artists, models and producers I have been admiring for many years. Thank you Ralphus, and thank you, unknown members of the jury, for including me. I might not quite deserve this honour, compared to many of the other names here, I am really just a very small dwarf on the shoulders of giants. But it is nevertheless enormously motivating! Thank you all, and happy birthday, GIMP forum!

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIMP
I seem to have missed the Hall of Fame results. In any case, can't find them anywhere.
