ANNA 2 (2025)

In the last few years, Electric City Productions has been a dedicated team of independent film makers, based in Ukraine and making short videos. Most are in the niche genre of “Interrogation Movies”. The team works both with real directors, actors, actresses, and technicians and, most recently, Artificial Intelligence, a technology they absolutely excel in. ECP even does custom videos according to your script.
Their most recent release is Anna 2, which is a remarkable film in a number of ways, not least because it was made in a country fighting a desperate war of survival. This is a one hundred percent AI film, with a total length of 22 minutes (the equivalent of a two-reel movie from the early days of Hollywood), and thus a landmark in independent film making.
The plot concerns a beautiful Russian traitoress who infiltrates the headquarters of the KGB. Captured, and taken to a detention center in Siberia, she endures 59 days of interrogation. The brave Anna is tortured horrifically, principally with electric shocks. For technical and other reasons, a movie with such realistic extended torture scenes could not have been made before now. I believe ANNA 2, the product of a very small team of dedicated cinematographers, approaches mainstream movie levels and will endure as a classic film of its kind. This is all the more remarkable because the ECP Team, based in Ukraine, made the video on old computers and a tiny budget, with blackouts, intermittent Internet, and actual air strikes which at one point destroyed the studio!
The original film ANNA, released in May, with the same AI “star” and a similar storyline, was a resounding success and quickly became ECPs biggest hit. With ANNA 2, the technology has improved so much that it transcends the original movie. It is rare in movieland for a sequel to be better than the original, but that is the case here.
And that is not just the AI side: the script, cinematography, sound effects, editing and length are all more developed.
From the initial pulsing soundtrack and a 4-minute prologue, we are introduced into an alternative universe that becomes fully believable as it unfolds before us. Anna herself is a wonderful AI creation, a real Russian beauty, model slim, completely winsome, strong and vulnerable at the same time.
Obviously, the cognoscenti don’t buy a niche movie like this to see character development or plot twists, or to appreciate the dialogue and acting. The main strength of the video, which catapults it above all other films, are the interrogation scenes themselves. They are horrific and horrifying and make ANNA and ANNA 2 stand alone, even compared to videos made intentionally in the same genre.
I believe nearly all Interrogation Genre fans will appreciate every excruciating moment depicted. Because of the power of AI and the dedication of the ECP Team, it’s unlikely that even a major studio working with a big budget and real actors and actresses, would have achieved this level of relentless horror. That's the power of AI, used by dedicated professionals.
Each scene is carefully filmed from several angles, leaving no detail of the interrogation unseen. AI brings it all to life. Every buzzing jolt of electric power, each convulsion of Anna’s body, every bead of sweat, the screams, each wound, every strand of her tangled hair, every camera shot tells a story of total physical suffering.
The AI special effects crank the cinematic experience up to not merely filmmatic realism but to hyperrealism. In particular, the ECP sound engineering team has edited the raw film (no pun intended) frame by video frame to ensure that every groan, scream, and ominous silence is perfection. Thus, the audio becomes not just part to the visuals, it's an intrinsic part of the whole movie experience, heightening tension and immersing you in Anna’s grim world.
(It goes without saying here that the intention of the film makers is solely to create a complete brutal fantasy, like a nightmare that the viewer cannot wake up from. The film makers are in no way advocating or approving real life violence against real women.)
But, since no human effort is perfect, ANNA 2 is not without its lapses. At 6:19 into the video, a view of Anna’s back shows that she had been severely flogged early in her interrogation. However, instead of suggesting, just showing 60 seconds of that whipping would have reemphasized the full brutality of Anna’s heartless Russian captors.
Nevertheless, putting all such quibbles aside, with ANNA and ANNA 2, we are still left with the first films of the genre to approach the level of a mainstream movie. One might hope we are seeing the beginning of a long series.
BOTTOM LINE: Tiny movie studio, working under combat conditions, produces an instant niche classic.

A blink and you miss it scene apparently happened in the new telenovela called La Jefa. In episode 36, the stunning and very well endowed protagonist gets a shock from a pair of jumper cables right after having her head dunked in water. The tank top she has on is nice and low cut and shows a ton of cleavage. Too bad they only shock her once, and she’s not restrained very well so she kinda bends forward, so it’s not a great view. But it’s there for anyone interested.
