Russia has been sanctioned by the "moral" countries of the west, so PP, MC, Visa and the whole SWIFT payments system won't work with their banks. Meanwhile Ukraine (once considered the most corrupt nation in Europe but now a beacon of democracy according to the moral west is welcome to operate in SWIFT.

Alex has an associate in one of the Balkan states, which can still operate in SWIFT who accepts payments via PP and passes them along to him.

One of the details I liked was that you wet her hair after awhile, to give the evidence of a long torture session.
