Tar and Feathers
Re: Tar and Feathers
The next day there were some arrests regarding what became known as the Meyersville Tar Party. The local perpetrators where quickly bailed out though. Dorothy was held in a cell as a material witness for several weeks. Curiosity seekers from throughout the county lined up in the street, outside the jail, for a chance to get a look at the filthy tar slut. The remnants of the tar could still be seen on her face and shoulders as well as in what remained of her hair.

Dorothy Grandon, Stripped and Tarred along a country road. Headlights shone on her so passers by could see the mobs handywork.
Re: Tar and Feathers
They were very thorough, applying the tar to every part of the young woman's body. The historic record shows that she died at an early age from cancer of the cervix. There was most likely some tar that could not be reached for removal.
