I recently did an entire podcast on this topic. Go to rumble.com and search for "TPC #871." tl/dr; I think our sexual desires are formed by an imprinting event around the age of 2, at which point the stimulus we imprint on is completely random and nobody realizes what is happening until much later when we become capable of expressing what we desire. Since we are raised quite differently today than our hunter-gatherer ancestors this imprinting event can catch abstractions like a desire for power and control or to be dominated, or for things that don't exist in the natural world like latex. The imprint is probably sharpened in adolescence to make it more specific to something we are likely to actually experience.

Serious question indeed... if you're a psychologist working on a thesis.
But unless you're considering following a personal therapy (and even then) , WHY do you need to know WHY ?
I don't think it would make your life better or easier, IF there was a definite answer, but there are as many as there are different people (and psychologists trying to explain).
Do you feel sick and want to quit ?
Personally I stopped personal analysis and questioning about this subject decades ago.
Live your life and enyoy it !

Edukator, that was pretty much the conclusion I drew for Tommy at TPC. Once an imprint is formed, it can't be changed, which is a thing we can observe in animals where the process is more visible. Therapy is useless. Basically your only choices are to enjoy what you are, or if you are something like a pedophile that society won't tolerate, avoid thinking about sex at all (which is possible, if not much fun).

I've said it before and I'll state it publicly: fantasy never hurt anybody. All the holy rollers that want to condemn our fantasy are probably more responsible for real serial killers. They're repressed and demand that everybody else should be repressed. When people repress their urges they can ultimately explode into real life serious consequences. Fantasy provides an outlet. Thank god I don't have pedophile sexual urges, and I feel sorry for people that do. As far as pediatric pornography, if it involves real children then I completely condemn it because the children are real victims; therefore it should be prosecuted. However, I have mixed feelings concerning pediatric art because I don't understand who the victim is.

Kind of surprised haven't heard from others on this question. Hope to hear from more of you. Not too many people know I'm into this, that's partly the reason I want to know who's out there. Certainly know from this site, I'm not alone. Not a discussion I can have with the local monk's group, LOL. But why do so many dress like them?

What do you mean when you say "...I have mixed feelings concerning pediatric art because I don't understand who the victim is..."

This is fascinating, and in a lot of ways, terrifying. Since our world at that age, 2-ish, is usually surrounded by parents? But that explains why it can't be changed, if the neural "hookups" are random, permanent, and "sharpened" by further hookups/experience. In a way, it sort of makes sense, as in if our hookups were always changing, we would be utterly confused, and probably wouldn't have survived as a species.

I am super grateful my fantasies don't run in that direction, kids. My guilt over tied up women is bad enough.

You make a interesting point, Cisco, that fantasy about p* do is preferable to the actual doing, in the same vein as torture fantasies are preferable to the actual horrific doing.

Children, for any/all adult coaching on what to do in case shit happens, are physically helpless against an adult.

I like to use the term "wired that way" and it seemingly truly works out to that.

And why did I develop a fascination for big breasted Playboy/Penthouse models. I guess that probably involves the "sharpening" in adolescence.

Agreed, this is very interesting, but also very personal? Which might explain the silence over this subject? It could be a great discussion. Maybe with the current version of the Forum, people come for the pictures, but couldn't be bothered to stay for any discussion?
I mean, people would probably put us (GIMPers) right there with the p**o folks. "lump all the perverts together" sort of thing. Forest/trees, right? But in this case, it would be they can't see the trees for the forest...

And what did you mean by "...why do so many dress like them..." Did you mean the monk/nun fetish?

I had a fascination with torture from a very early age, like 7 - 8 years old. No idea where it came from. (There are memories of walking to school, 2nd or 3rd grade, past a little store that had a magazine rack on the sidewalk out front that had some MAMs, with the lurid covers of the early 60's, but also Flash Gordon getting electric torture, so not yet gender specific. Certainly nothing sexual.) I, too, developed a love of Playboy models starting around 1966, those being pretty much the only the illicit smut available where I grew up. When I started seeing girls differently, melding Playmate breasts with my torture fascination was inevitable. For over 50 years torturing females, especially their breasts, has been my "wired in" sexual fantasy. There were years of shame because it was "sick", paranoid secrecy because it was a big taboo back then and immediate social (dating) ostracism, and the always difficult and often futile hunt for good torture porn. So I did NOT want it as my erotic trigger, but try as I might, I couldn't purge it. I never acted on it, or ever wanted to, although I would LOVE access to a Star Trek holodeck. I still have a preference for artwork over photographs, since that was the earliest dedicated sadism porn I found. Two Tortura Press paperbacks, one Stanton and one ENEG, Nazi and Medieval respectively, both of which are still favorite scenarios.

Thanks for chiming in Ed.

Same here, before I even understood the whole man/woman dynamic. It was all very strange, and yes, confusing. I suppose the birds / bees talk, if I had ever had one, might have shed some light, but still left parts of it in the dark.

So I did NOT want it as my erotic trigger, but try as I might, I couldn't purge it. I never acted on it, or ever wanted to, although I would LOVE access to a Star Trek holodeck.

Absolutely the same here, though I find as I age, that increasingly, the fantasies turn away from torture and more back toward bondage, though strict bondage. I love the "look" of crying women and the whole running/smudged mascara thing, but the "sound" of a woman crying is more of a turnoff. And also bondage/torture stories don't turn me on as much as they used to.

I suppose everyone's experience is different, and it doesn't surprise me that the "Tickling" thread died a very quick death for lack of interest.

I think Sigmund Freund's old models still work quite well as explanations for people like us. Human development is driven by the libido (= desire) and regulated by the superego (= morality). If the libido is suppressed by the superego, neurosis can develop, which expresses itself as sexual perversion.
Something like this.
I think this is the reason why so many people in Cruxforum find the actually unerotic torture of crucifixion so great. That's where the superego church really got into a fight with the but-I-really-want-to-masturbate-libido.

After spending over 60 years trying to figure myself out and failing, I doubt that I can provide any answers on this subject. I can very much relate to what Ed says above, as that mirrors my own experiences almost perfectly. Of course at the time I thought there was something wrong with me, and above all else had to be kept secret (thanks to the religious conservative environment I grew up in). I beat myself up for most of my adult life over what aroused me sexually. I no longer do that, and I now realize my fantasy world did not make me evil. I'm still a decent human being with plenty of empathy for my fellow man, and a special fondness for those beautiful creatures we call women.

There are likely others more learned on the subject than I as far as how we came to be like we are. As much as I would like to know that, it's still a matter of curiosity more than anything. To me, the important thing isn't how we got this way, but how it affected our lives, for better or worse.
