I think the problem is not whether to be restrained or not, it more like how much movement you're ok with in a BDSM scene. I personally enjoy minimal restrains, and I have a couple of reasons for that:

first it's very easy and therefore realistic - you could literally turn a girl into a defenseless slave in a few minutes.
