My .02 is that it's just an unfortunate AI glitch.
I've seen quite a few AI images with the baddies expressing themselves this way. Maybe there's a different prompt where the bad guys expression wouldn't be quite so severe?

No offense but I understand Wulf's comment. The facial expression of the nun is more like someone screaming in pain instead of someone shouting in anger. The latter wouldn't have closed eyes
