Who among us does not have family or friends in Florida and the Caribbean islands the hurricane struck? To all those contributors, such as Covers, and lurkers that might have been in Irma’s path I truly hope you are safe and sound.

Thanks, frog! We are very fortunate that Irma was down to a Cat 1 when it hit Tampa. Even more fortunate that we did not have any damage to the house or yard, and did not lose power or communications. Tampa Electric says that only 63.1% of their customers have power as of five minutes ago. Our neighbors that have Spectrum cable have no TV or internet. No telling how long that will take to fix. I lent our HDTV antenna to one of them so they can watch broadcast channels.

With just a little bad luck, Irma could have been a Cat 4 or five and hit Tampa at a bad angle where the wind was pushing water into the bay. Buildings in downtown Tampa would have at least 20 feet of water in them.
