I downloaded Lupus films' movie The Warlock's Revenge. I'd seen stills of the movie on their website and finally took the 34 Euro plunge. My first impression is Wow! the whippings and canings are certainly realistic. I mean, I guess they are real, you don't get welts like that in make-up. And there were tears in one character's eyes as she was caned on a bench, and she's not a good enough actor to fake it. It's clearly consensual so I'm okay with it, but personally I'm more into medieval restraints than punishments. Two women were confined in a dungeon, one wearing an iron mask in a hanging cage with a wooden fiddle around her neck and wrists, the other on an unconvincing inclined rack, (they never tighten it) getting the water torture. The woman in the cage is placed in stocks with her legs spread wide, the racked woman, after being released from the rack, is whipped in a "relaxed" strappado, and then tied to an upright frame and whipped with birches. This looked painful too, and left marks.
The woman in the stocks is taken into the castle courtyard (This is all filmed in a beautiful castle--I'd like to know how they were able to procure that location), set stark naked on a wooden horse with a rather severe ridge I must say--no faking there either--and birched severely. This scene aroused my interest even though, connoisseur that I am, her butt was a bit too flabby for my tastes. Then the princess gets tied to a bench and caned. Real welts, real tears. Ouch. I felt a little frustrated and disappointed over all (of course, I'm a GIMPer) because the dungeon scene could have been better lit--it's hard to see what's going on in the cage, and I would have loved it if they'd dwelled longer on dungeon business, i.e. securing the victim in strappado or tying her to the whipping frame. There's too many gaps. By gaps I mean we never get to see a woman stripped prior to her confinement in the dungeon or secured for torture; we don't get to hear her plead with her tormentors before they begin their nefarious work on her naked body; in short we're robbed of the anticipation of what is to come. The Princess is dragged down a hall by guards. In the next scene she's naked and tied to the bench for her caning. But what about stripping her? What about tying her down? These are things I don't want to miss. We spend way too much time sitting around the dinner table discussing affairs of state--I assume. These people could not enunciate. It sounded like they were spitting and hacking all the time. They may as well have been speaking Czechoslovakian. The plot seems really silly--something about a warlock in a bad Halloween costume insisting that the Princess get her ass beat. I guess they play it for laughs so the unconvincing acting isn't as noticeable. All in all not bad. The scene in the courtyard was worth the price of admission IMHO. I'll give it a thumbs up. I recommend it especially if you're just really into fairly attractive women getting their asses beat.
