A Bring Out the GIMP (Girls in Merciless Peril) Movie Review

Jumpgirl

Reviewed by Jav Critic

Jumpgirl stars Zoey Laine as the titular character, a superheroine who can transport anywhere and anytime (taking inspiration from the film and novel "Jumper" wherein the protagonist can "Jump" anywhere on earth, at anytime). While toying with two thugs she's about to foil the plans of, she is soon given one too many blows when caught off guard, and gets overpowered by both men miraculously. The rest of her fate then relies on her tolerance to pain, and to regaining the strength needed to use her powers one last time. But can Jumpgirl do it? Let's find out!

And the first thing I liked about this film (like almost every XXXtreme ComiXXX film is how it throws us (almost jarringly so) into the mix. This method starts the film off mid-stream, without all the boring exposition typical most of superheroine films.

The opening fight scene is the typical XXXtreme ComiXXX fare, the sound effects aren't the greatest, and the choreography is a little sloppy, but unlike a lot of them (that go on too long), these flaws become more evident with time, this one is very short-lived so I can really forgive the rushed feel of the fight itself.

Our setting and plot aren't even set up by this point yet, that develops as the film goes along, and with the ad-libs the actors make to build character even more so down the line. I do feel that this technique is tricky to get right. Too little information could make the audience feel lost and confused. I feel they get it just right with this film.

Another thing I loved off the bat was the unique lore of the Jumpgirl character and her abilities. Once the villains had started hitting her more and more, and she lost the upper hand, it was almost too quick when she lost. But we later find out that she only has her abilities when she's happy. This makes perfect sense for her to suddenly lose as quick as she does, and is a very interesting take on any superheroine's mythos, making it feel less of a rip-off of "Jumpers" mythology.

Both villains are fittingly seedy, and start to grope their now restrained victim almost immediately. There is no question what their motives are, and while sometimes dancing around the inevitable sexuality of the peril is suspenseful, I find that this approach is just as much of a shock to the system, and our heroine also, and in this case very entertaining.

Speaking of our heroine, Zoey Laine is very good as Jumpgirl, squirming at every touch these men lay upon her, and wailing in the most provocative and sweet tone whilst doing so. Her performance is spirited and frenzied, and considering she's almost completely bound by rope throughout a lot of the film, this is a great feat. You could never blame her phoning it in, that's for sure. Her eyes are filled with dread in every shot, and she looks at her attackers with genuine fright that's hard to not get affected by. And also the way that in later scenes she is able to convey the constant shifts from pain and pleasure, as she is in literal hell trying to come to terms with how she's feeling is a joy to watch.

All the ad-libs and improvisation from every actor feels natural and warranted too. They all bounce off of each other extremely well, and no one ever talks over on another awkwardly either.

The addition of tickle torture is an incredibly exciting and welcome one. It grows more titillating the more you think about it: She needs to be happy to use her powers again, but she doesn't wanna be happy at the hands of them. So she has to decide what to do in this moment, she is conflicted as she doesn't want to give up her integrity, but also needs to get free soon.

The direction is typically great and minimalistic of these films, rarely moving around, or changing shots frequently. The cameraman simply sits and lets the actors breathe and do the best they can as he only changes shots when entirely beneficiary, or when he really needs to focus on a specific detail, amplifying these moments when they do happen, for example, Jumpgirl's smiling face as she tries not to laugh during the tickle-fest.

I also love how dimly lit a lot of the film is; at first I thought it might be a problem as it goes along, but considering the dirty, dark nature of Jumpgirl's situation it makes all the more sense. It definitely sets the mood, but is bright enough for us to see the action very clearly also.

The beating/belly punching scene is surprisingly effective and believable at most points, as said before this studio's only fault is just their fight scenes and sound effects, but all the actors in question sell every punch thrown and received that it's still exhilarating to watch. I also love how they vary up the acts performed on her, one minute she's being beaten, one minute she's being tickled and the next her hair is pulled while the other villain spanks her within an inch of her life.

It makes these scenes go by so quickly, and they never overstay their welcome; they couldn't cut a frame too long if they tried. If anything, I wouldn't ever want these sequences to end. I also love the contraption her rope is attached to (there's probably a name for it but I'm too lazy to try and remember it). Either way it's very flexible to whichever position they want her, when they want her swinging high, to be exposed for their low blows then they can, but if they want her low for even dirtier acts performed at that vantage point then they can simply pull the lever and lower it, it makes these scenes feel even smoother as a result.

I also love how even during the sex scenes, Zoey puts 110% into her role, crying and gagging till her makeup runs down her face, and her character by the end looks utterly destroyed and soaked in saliva. These scenes get increasingly rougher as they go along also, and I was not complaining at just how sadistic the villains treat Jumpgirl.

During these moments (seeing as Joey's preoccupied), both actors who play the villains give great one-liners and improv that doesn't feel overbearing or off-putting. Only to her, which is what we want.

If there was one negative I'd have about the film, it'd be Jumpgirl's costume, while it does perfectly show off Zoey's incredibly well toned body, and plump backside/thighs. I feel that a more expensive and less plain outfit would've made her look a thousand times hotter, maybe some spandex or latex, but with busier colors and patterns, but with all that being said she already looks incredible without all that help.

One small moment that I absolutely love is another improvised moment (leading up to Zoey's facial) where she tries her best to aim her face away from him and what he has ready for her. You can tell that it was just done on the spot, and is a great little touch for the character, to just show that she's been un-consenting this whole time, now more than ever.

There's also a plot twist near the end, which was interesting and I didn't see it coming, but considering all that was previously shown to us it's highly unlikely. Luckily it doesn't ruin the film, and in a different context could've been a really erotic conclusion.

So overall, while the film does have the usual trappings and flaws of any XXXreme ComiXXX film, with its sub-par costumes, loose structure and poor choreography. All these things didn't bug me as much as I thought they would, and the films high points (the performances, nuanced direction and great improvisation) most definitely outweigh and overshadow these minuscule nit-picks. So, with that being said I definitely have to recommend this film.
