After paying a visit to the [www.whipping-films.com] website, I decided to purchase 100 Strokes of the Lash - Amanda. I didn't count to see if she took all 100, but however many she did take is "good cinema". Here's my thumbnail review:
To produce good videos, you have to have three things: (1) an attractive model, (2) good action, and (3) good equipment. Whipping-Films.Com strikes me as "high amateur" videography. It's not quite professional enough (yet). After all, the guy simply hangs sheets as privacy curtains in his living room, sets up 3 cameras on tripods in the corners, and films a girl being whipped. Not a lot to it. So, working in reverse order of my list of must-haves, his equipment is very much consumer-grade, his studio is non-existent, and his girls, well, they're reflective of what I consider low-mid-range amateur talent, except for one. You have your usual collection of tatt'd up, pierced, and slightly soft women that probably got recruited from a club or a back-page advertisement in a free newspaper. Only one girl seems to have the potential to go big-time, and that's Amanda (see vidcap above). No tattoos, no obnoxious piercings, and she has the stamina to handle the scene. Of the 61 videos in the collection, 59 really have no interest to me, except for this one and the free download one.
Where this film falls down is in the equipment. The guy seems to only have one whip. And he's filming in his living room. With what looks like Sony hand-helds mounted on basic consumer tripods. If I were a model, I'd be going, "WTF? Is this guy for real?" And the answer to that question would be, "Eh, sort of."
Amanda, for her part, turns in a good performance as a hot chick exploring her pain threshold by being whipped in some strange guy's living room for whatever little bit of money he paid her. There is no long "Hi, my name is Amanda, I'm over the age of eighteen, and I enjoy kittens and long walks on the beach" introduction like we get with Kink.Com videos. She simply walks into the living room, is told to strip to her underwear(and she does) and is then cuffed to some chains hanging from the ceiling. The Man Who Has No Name then cuts away her panties and bra with what looks like a Ka-Bar combat knife and gets his whip. Then the fun begins.
Overall, I think this video is worth the $25 I spent for it, particularly since I got the trailer video of "Two Stroke" in the package. Amanda starts out strong and is crying by the end of the clip, which runs about 11 minutes long in total. After he finishes whipping her, he releases her wrists (but not her ankles), and he sits on the couch. She then falls to her knees and into his lap, where he hugs her and catches her tears of agony. It's a nice epilogue to the action, and certainly not something you see very often in these types of films.
Overall, it's a solid "B", and that's not the fault of the performer. That's solidly on the low-budget "Let's make a video in my living room" approach the producer takes. It's very much a "Merv Griffin meets Dexter" way of making a porn video. Contributing to the "B" rating is the shortcoming of the video equipment. No Hi-Def. No Widescreen. Not even Hi-Res. Take a look at the screencap I posted above. See the "staircasing" of the whip? That's so 90's its pathetic, and it drags the rating down a lot more than the American Home furniture he's got going on in his interior decor.
The best thing about this film? Amanda taking all whatever-number of strokes, then tearfully falling into her tormentor's lap for consoling. That's the sort of emotional response I like to see in my art. But maybe that's just me.
