The Story of O Part II

Sometimes you wonder how a film gets approved for financing. You could pitch it by saying, let's put "Story of O" in the title and lots of people will watch it. Doesn't matter what the film is about.

You could say, let's tell a story about the downfall of a prideful man, sort of a morality play, and lots of people would watch it.

Or you could say what you meant to say all along: let's make a movie with all that and overflowing with naked women, and about when the viewer starts to wonder where this is all headed, we'll put in more naked women, and lots of people will watch it.

Now you're talking! I give you The Story of O Part II.

This film, you must know, is not in any way an adaptation of Return to the Château, Pauline Reage's sequel to her famous novel, nor in any way a sequel to the original story. It does borrow the title character, O, and a particular scene I'll mention later, but that's about it. Éric Rochat, who produced the 1975 film version of The Story of O directed by Just Jaeckin, apparently couldn't get O out of his head, so he produced and directed this film, too, not to mention the Brazilian ten-part series starring Claudia Cepeda.

In the opening act, a corporate board of directors is discussing how to avoid being taken over by Pembroke, a Texas businessman. One of them suggests embroiling him in a public sex scandal, and he has the perfect weapon -- a woman named O (played by the stunning Sandra Wey).

Act II begins with the Pembroke family coming to Europe with Dad as he attempts to execute the takeover. They are invited to live in this huge mansion which is owned by O. Her intention is to find the sexual weak spot in Pembroke, his wife, and his son and daughter, both of them in their early twenties. She begins by having one of her female servants check out the son. The servant tries to seduce him, but gets nowhere. When he shows more interest in the statuary of a male nude than one allegedly of the naked O, it's clear he bats from the opposite side of the plate. Check.

Mom is next. Pembroke walks into his wife's bedroom, demanding his sexual privileges because of all the money he lavishes on her. The wife (played by the supremely MILFy Rosa Valenty) says, essentially, if you want my pussy, you can have it, but that's all you'll get. [Note: you mean, there's more?] She bends over the bed, he hikes up her nightgown and away they go. She tries to be nonchalant about the whole thing, reading a magazine, doing her nails while he pounds away, but the horndog in her comes out and she's just loving it. She also suspects there's something wrong with the painting on the wall right next to them. She's right. It's O watching them through cut-out eye holes of the painting. Mom loves peter. Check.

Next is the daughter, Carol, played by the fully-equipped Carole James. O offers to be her guide in her sexual awakening and Carol accepts. Changing her tone from loving tutor to harsh mistress, O orders Carol to remove her panties and sit bare-assed on the bench. Carol agrees. Check.

Later O has a meeting with Pembroke at which the conversation turns to power -- who has it, and who doesn't. For him, sex is all about power, too. Check.

Let's not leave out the guard dog. No kidding. O jacks off the Pembroke's vicious guard dog so she won't have to worry about him. O is nothing if not thorough. Now she has the goods on the entire family, and she attacks.

In Act III, O throws a party at which she sets up everyone for their sexual demise. First she sends off Carol to be initiated into O-dom. In a sequence reminiscent of Story of O, but with different presentation, Carol is prepared in the car and given over to château staff. We get to see her no-holds-barred naked a lot. This sequence is intercut with scenes of O going through the same initiation. Both of them are naked, except for their heels, and both of them get royally rogered. More than once.

The son gets his treatment when he is offered a three-way with two women of the château, which he more or less goes along with. He's playing with the tits of one of the housemaids, while the other gal is behind him with her finger up his butt. Being very sly, she steps aside as one of the manservants takes over, and you can see the look on this kid's face: "Wait a minute! That's not a finger! That's a . . ." Well, you know.

Mom is next, and this is the best bit. She lets a pretty boy she met at the party fuck her socks off in the back seat of his Corvette. When Mom starts to explain to him why she cheats on her husband, the kid pulls her out of the car, throws her on the hood, and ties her there by the wrists and ankles. Then, off he zooms. Extended hood ornament scene follows. He stops at a secluded spot, and while she is still tied to the car, gives her five hard smacks on her ass with a whip, then lubes her up and rapes the snot out of her bunghole. Fabulous scene all around -- hood ornament, whipping, rape, -- it's all there, and Mom, getting a lot more than she bargained for, is bawling her head off the entire time. Warms the cockles of your little heart.

O saves Pembroke for later. The day after the party, O challenges him by letting him whip her bare back. He thinks that will break her, but no. O says she measures power not by how much you can give out, but by how much you can take. She invites him to another party to find out how much he can take. He accepts the challenge.

As a pre-function, O has Carol fucked and whipped (at the same time) by one of the château staff members. While she is being fondled afterwards, O says to her, the pain takes away the humiliation, and the pleasure takes away the pain. Awww.

At the party, after a few European shininigans, O shows Pembroke his wife getting boffed by the same pretty boy, and loving it. He's not moved.

Then O takes Pembroke into a darkened private room and tells him that if you fuck a woman, she will forget you, but if you fuck her in the ass, she will never forget. Pembroke takes her up on it, and starts in standing up with O holding onto a pillar. She stops, and brings in a blind-folded woman, his daughter, to stand between them. Now facing him, she tells him to make love to her eyes while he fucks this other woman in the ass.

The next day, a Pembroke family sex scandal is headlined in the morning paper. The family tells Pembroke they have had it with him and are leaving. Just when he has told them how worthless they all are, O shows up and makes him realize that the woman he ass-fucked in the dark last night was his daughter. That's it. Game over, he loses. Roll credits.

This movie is filmed in a European style, which means sexuality is handled much differently than an American film company would. If you've seen Obsession: A Taste of Fear, you know what I mean. Sex scenes are softcore, but have a hardcore feel. Like I mentioned before, there are naked women all over the place, often just as set decoration. Especially interesting is the costume the women of the château wear. It's a long-sleeved, form-fitting dress of solid color (red, blue, or black), with a panel of dotted tulle extending from the yoke to the waist, exposing the breasts. There's a silly hat, too.

The actors move the story along well enough, no one chews up the scenery, though there are ridiculous Western accents in the dubbed soundtrack. This is a decent sex film that has a story easy to ignore while you wait for the good parts, which fortunately come by fairly often. And Sanda Wey is just ravishing. The subplot about the corporate takeover is pursued just enough to make the movie hang together, but it doesn't get in the way. You can fast forward through all that. GIMP-wise, there's not all that much, but there is some whipping, and most of the sex scenes are non-consensual.
