Well, this afternoon I went down to my local art theatre and checked out The Skin I Live In, which was recently brought up on this board. The film stars the gorgeous Elena Anaya and she is frequently seen nude, which is refreshing considering what we usually get in Hollywood films. Fortunately, this film was made in Spain where attractive women are still allowed to show off their assets on the screen.
Let's get to the important stuff. Yes, Anaya does get raped in the movie. It starts off with the bad guy (wearing a tiger costume...don't ask) breaking into her room and chasing her out into the hall, where he gets on top of her on the floor. She's got on a skintight flesh-colored bodysuit and he starts by opening up the area over her breasts and exposing them (ala A Clockwork Orange).
Then he picks up her up and carries her over his shoulder (also like in Clockwork) and takes her to a bed where the rape occurs. Personally, I think the rape scene is quite good for a mainstream scene. He doesn't tie her up (he should have) but we do see some boobage. She tells him he's hurting her because he's too big, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately, it has an unhappy ending for the rapist but he lives long enough to do the deed.
There is a bondage scene in the movie but it's an just older lady who gets tied to a chair and stuff gagged and forced to watch while Anaya gets raped. Unless you're into geriatric victims, it's not really worth getting excited about.
It was mentioned that 2 women get raped in this film but I'm not sure you can call the other scene an actual rape. Date rape perhaps, but it's open to interpretion. Antonio Banderas' daughter (played by the very cute Blanca Suárez) gets taken outside after a wedding reception by a guy so they can go into in the woods where other couples are making out. She starts taking off her shoes and sweater and says if she had her way, she would prefer not to wear clothes at all (unbeknownst to him, she's got mental issues).
The guy takes that as an invitation to help her get naked so he gets her down on the ground, pulls down her dress and starts making out with her. She's nervous and tentative but lets him go ahead. Then all of a sudden she objects and starts screaming. He panics and sticks his hand over her mouth to shut her up. And she counters that by biting his hand. He has to hit her in the face to make her stop, which knocks her out cold. He covers her back up and takes off, leaving her laying out on the ground. That's where Banderas finds her.
If you're going to watch the movie just for the rape scene(s), you might be surprised by how good the rest of the movie turns out to be. It would be a crime to give away the surprises and plot twists, but suffice to say you've probably never seen a film quite like this. One thing though...Anaya's rape scene might seem less enjoyable if you watch it a second time after seeing what unfolds in the story. Whoops, have I given away a clue? Maybe. But definitely seek out the film if you can find it; it's really good.
