A Bring Out the GIMP (Girls in Merciless Peril) Movie Review

Naked Fear

Reviewed by Sardu

Hey all, its been a while since I posted anything, but I've been lurking...lol. Anywho, I'd thought I'd post a review of a movie I saw recently that you all might enjoy.

Naked Fear (2007) : Well folks, this is probably the best mainstream DiD/ GIMP film I've seen in years, and it immediately belongs on the classics list. The premise of the movie is this: a serial killer kidnaps women, takes them to the remote wilderness, strips them completely naked, and then hunts them ala "The Most Dangerous Game."

Now, before I continue, this is not a Wave production and is actually a well done thriller. It is shot on film, not video, and the acting is halfway decent.

The movie starts off with an unnamed naked victim running naked through the wilderness. After a few minutes, the killer injures her with a crossbow, then dispatches her with a handgun.

Cut to Diana, (the beautiful Danielle De Luca), a drifter who has been hoodwinked into being a stripper. After about 15 minutes of character building, she ends up in the hands of the killer. He takes her to his "torture shed" and apparently does bad things to her, but this is not shown. Only her screams are heard, then he emerges, and goes to clean his bloody pliers. Ouch!

The next scene is De Luca, completely naked (yes, barefoot too!), in the middle of nowhere. She slowly wakes up, confused and horrified when she realizes her situation. One of the interesting things about the way this is shot is that the camera never "leers" at her nakedness. Yes, she is shown naked, but there are no long, slow shots of her body. No pans, up and down. I think this was a good choice, as it keeps the suspense real, instead of being exploitive.

For the next 45 minutes of screentime, she is naked, running through the woods, trying to escape the killer.

While there is no bondage here, the situation is awesome, and the quality is about as good as it can get for this type of film.

If you read my other reviews, you know I'm not easily impressed, but this one gets my highest recommendation. Enjoy!!

My Grade: B+
