Lane plays Anna Nix, a woman who accidentally kills her stepfather while trying to defend herself from him in an attempted rape. Fortunately for us, she has no luck in the courts, and they sentence her to 4-9 years in prison. Her character is mostly shy and non-confrontational, which makes for good GIMP scenes as she learns the hard life behind bars.

The first scene of interest is of course, her first day, when they line her up and make her strip for a cavity search with a few others. The scene doesn't last as long as you'd hope, but you do see her ordered to get naked, put her hands on the wall and cough, and then get hosed down a little.

Later, some of the power-player prisoners rudely introduce themselves to her, dishing out threats and a clothed beat down. After hesitantly but ultimately voluntarily having sex with her horny cellmate, Anna decides she needs to join one of the gangs if she wants to survive. Part of her initiation involves picking a fight with a rival to prove she has what it takes. Since she was the instigator, the guards throw her into solitary confinement. Naked solitary confinement, that is. They make her take off her uniform right outside the cell before pushing her in.

Now you may be thinking wait a minute Insomniac, you promised us every women-in-prison cliche. Where's the scumbag warden? Well, hold on I'm getting to it! At this point she's gotten the warden's attention, so he calls her into his office and basically tells her she can either go back to confinement or give him the best blow job he's ever had. She opts for the latter (not graphically shown of course) and then pukes afterwards in the shower. In fact, I think she pukes after every encounter with this guy.

After that we get another lesbian scene in which Anna is more or less forced into it. It's not rough, but she can't really say no to the leader of her gang. The lesbian scenes in this go on for a while by mainstream standards, but still fall a little shy of being full blown softcore.

Then she gets into another fight and again has to have sex with the warden to get out of punishment (nothing seen in that one). It's kind of rinse/repeat until she pisses off the gang she's been with. The leader disowns her, which makes her an inviting target for the other inmates she keeps fighting with. They corner her in the shower, and one woman (after telling her pals to "raise the bitch up") beats her several times with what I think is a soap bar in a sock. You get full frontal in this scene.

In the second half of the movie she gets thrown into naked isolation for a longer period of time, making her go kind of crazy and suicidal. She eventually can't take it anymore and once again agrees to give her body to the warden for leniency. You get a few more blackmail sex scenes with him before it's over.

As with most mainstream movies, you're sacrificing the length and quality of GIMP scenes that you might get in a studio production in return for having some story around them and better actors (though they aren't that much better in this). It can be a little of a tease, because it's not quite a softcore erotic thriller, but it might as well be for how far it goes. I thought the scenes were good but that they could have gone on a little longer. The script and production values aren't anything special either. You also don't get any heavy bondage or torture scenes. But if you're starved for a new prison flick and want to see a cute non-porn actress get put through some humiliating situations, you'll want to check this out. I give it a B, for not being amazing but being far from awful.
